00:01:06
Speaker 1: because tonight is pretty exciting. We are soon going to
00:01:11
Speaker 1: meet a young boy like no other. He's called Atticus
00:01:15
Speaker 1: and he lives a truly swashbuckling lifestyle on the high seas. Seriously,
00:01:22
Speaker 1: he lives on a ship, but not any old ship.
00:01:26
Speaker 1: This is a pirate ship. He lives there with his
00:01:29
Speaker 1: parents and they are always on the hunt for adventure.
00:01:34
Speaker 1: So let's all get comfortable in bed and settle in
00:01:39
Speaker 1: for this eye opening, exciting adventure. It's going to be
00:01:43
Speaker 1: a goody, we'll soon get to no Atticus and his
00:01:47
Speaker 1: pirate crew, and join them as they visit a deserted
00:01:50
Speaker 1: island that holds a very special secret within its sands.
00:01:57
Speaker 1: As you lie there with your eyes closed in your
00:02:00
Speaker 1: breathing rising and falling in your chest, nice and calmly
00:02:06
Speaker 1: like the waves laughing on the shore, breathing and out in,
00:02:17
Speaker 1: and imagine you are sailing on a big ship, out
00:02:23
Speaker 1: in the middle of the sparkling blue ocean. This is
00:02:30
Speaker 1: Atticus the Pirate by Alicia Ainslie. Atticus was a typical
00:02:42
Speaker 1: ten year old. He liked playing games and practicing sports,
00:02:47
Speaker 1: and had an inquisitive mind. He had a couple of
00:02:51
Speaker 1: close friends whom he spent most of his time with,
00:02:54
Speaker 1: and he loved his parents very much. Atticus was your
00:02:59
Speaker 1: you usual ten year old boy, except for one big thing.
00:03:06
Speaker 1: He lived on a pirate ship. Atticus lived a very
00:03:11
Speaker 1: exciting life for you. See, Atticus was a pirate. Well, actually,
00:03:17
Speaker 1: Atticus's parents were pirates. Atticus just hoped to one day
00:03:22
Speaker 1: grow up to be one. Atticus, his pirate parents, and
00:03:26
Speaker 1: their crew sailed the Seven Seas on their majestic ship,
00:03:31
Speaker 1: exploring new lands and searching for hidden treasures. Let's meet
00:03:36
Speaker 1: some of the crew, shall we. Well, we couldn't start
00:03:39
Speaker 1: without introducing you to Atticus's pirate parents. There's Captain Sloane
00:03:45
Speaker 1: his mother, and Captain Cliff his father. Sloane and Cliff
00:03:50
Speaker 1: were well known amongst other pirates for being excellent swashbucklers,
00:03:54
Speaker 1: intrepid explorers, and clever detectives. Sloane and Cliff had sailed
00:04:00
Speaker 1: the globe for many, many years, uncovering mysteries and finding
00:04:05
Speaker 1: buried trunks of precious gold and historical artifacts that nobody
00:04:11
Speaker 1: else had managed to find. They started as a duo,
00:04:16
Speaker 1: then took on a few trustee crew members, and eventually
00:04:20
Speaker 1: they welcomed their son, Atticus to the fold. But having
00:04:25
Speaker 1: a baby didn't stop them from enjoying their pirate life.
00:04:29
Speaker 1: Atticus grew up on the pirate ship, joining his parents
00:04:34
Speaker 1: on all their adventures. The first member of their crew
00:04:39
Speaker 1: was Ace. Ace was an impressive pirate with a keen
00:04:44
Speaker 1: eye for navigation and excellent map reading skills. His sailing
00:04:50
Speaker 1: prowess was so good that he also doubled up as
00:04:53
Speaker 1: the ship's sailing master, instructing the other sailors and guiding
00:04:58
Speaker 1: them all to new lands as the captain's requested. Ace
00:05:03
Speaker 1: was Atticus's favorite crew member, and he looked up to
00:05:07
Speaker 1: him as a shining example of what a great pirate
00:05:11
Speaker 1: should be. Oh and did I mention that Ace is
00:05:15
Speaker 1: a chimpanzee. Yes, that's right, Ace, the talking chimpanzee, was
00:05:20
Speaker 1: the ship's first mate. As first mate, Ace was second
00:05:26
Speaker 1: in command and the captain's right hand man or right
00:05:30
Speaker 1: hand chimp. In this case, you might think that it
00:05:35
Speaker 1: sounds odd to have a chimpanzee as second in command
00:05:39
Speaker 1: on a pirate ship, but you haven't met the rest
00:05:42
Speaker 1: of the crew yet. Next up in the lineup was Huck.
00:05:48
Speaker 1: Huckleberry was his full name, but he preferred Huck for short.
00:05:53
Speaker 1: Huck had been a pirate for all of his life,
00:05:56
Speaker 1: and that was a very long time. Nobody knew exactly
00:06:02
Speaker 1: how old Huck was, but Atticus assumed he must be
00:06:06
Speaker 1: close to one hundred years old on account of his
00:06:09
Speaker 1: wise face and ponchonp for telling wild stories that spanned
00:06:13
Speaker 1: many generations. Huck was an old man and an old pirate.
00:06:21
Speaker 1: He had a long white beard, braided all the way
00:06:25
Speaker 1: down so that it almost reached the floor, and he
00:06:29
Speaker 1: wore an eye patch across his face. He had a
00:06:33
Speaker 1: wooden leg and walked with a wooden stick that had
00:06:37
Speaker 1: a ruby stone pressed into the top. It was allegedly
00:06:42
Speaker 1: the first piece of treasure that he ever found, and
00:06:46
Speaker 1: he had kept it close by ever since. To look
00:06:51
Speaker 1: at Huck was exactly what you would expect of a pirate. However,
00:06:57
Speaker 1: nowadays Huck spent most of his time singing sea shanties
00:07:01
Speaker 1: from the lookout spot and recounting stories of his youth,
00:07:07
Speaker 1: rather than providing much support to the rest of the crew.
00:07:11
Speaker 1: Atticus had heard that Huck used to be one of
00:07:14
Speaker 1: the greatest swashbucklers on the high seas, but now Huck
00:07:20
Speaker 1: could barely lift a sword, let alone swing one. One
00:07:27
Speaker 1: of the most crucial crew members on the ship was Rain,
00:07:31
Speaker 1: the bo'swain. Rain was adventurous, skilled and quick thinking. She
00:07:37
Speaker 1: supervised almost everything on the ship and worked alongside Ace
00:07:42
Speaker 1: the Chimp to ensure that everything ran smoothly on board.
00:07:46
Speaker 1: It was Rain who had given Atticus his first lesson
00:07:50
Speaker 1: in swashbuckling and taught him how to read Latin. She
00:07:55
Speaker 1: was an inspiration to Atticus, and he hoped that day
00:08:00
Speaker 1: he would grow up to be as talented a pirate
00:08:03
Speaker 1: as she was, but Atticus still had a long way
00:08:08
Speaker 1: to go to become a true pirate. There were certain
00:08:12
Speaker 1: tasks that you must accomplish before you could earn your eyepatch,
00:08:16
Speaker 1: your bandanna, and your sword. It was the way of
00:08:21
Speaker 1: the pirates. In order to become a true pirate, Atticus
00:08:27
Speaker 1: would have to accomplish the following things to earn his
00:08:30
Speaker 1: pirate stripes. A true pirate had to uncover hidden treasure,
00:08:37
Speaker 1: win a swashbuckling competition, learn how to read the stars
00:08:42
Speaker 1: and guide a ship across the sea, and help someone
00:08:47
Speaker 1: through a tricky situation. Atticus had begun learning how to
00:08:53
Speaker 1: do some of these things, but he was still young
00:08:56
Speaker 1: and had a lot more to learn. Besides, having the
00:09:00
Speaker 1: opportunity to help someone or find buried treasure didn't come
00:09:05
Speaker 1: along very often. He would need to wait for the
00:09:09
Speaker 1: perfect moment. Every day on the pirate ship was different,
00:09:15
Speaker 1: but there were some similarities in each day too. Atticus
00:09:19
Speaker 1: would always start his day by doing some schoolwork. His father,
00:09:24
Speaker 1: Captain Cliff, taught him science, while his mother, Captain Sloane,
00:09:29
Speaker 1: taught him maths, and as I mentioned, Rain the bo'swain
00:09:34
Speaker 1: taught him how to read both English and Latin. By
00:09:38
Speaker 1: the time he had finished his classes, he would head
00:09:42
Speaker 1: out onto the top deck just in time for lunch.
00:09:47
Speaker 1: Lunch is served, Come get your grub, A squawky voice
00:09:51
Speaker 1: would call out across the deck every day at twelve o'clock.
00:09:56
Speaker 1: All of the crew members would jump to attention and
00:10:00
Speaker 1: rushed down into the galley to eat lunch. They were
00:10:03
Speaker 1: always starving by midday and couldn't wait to eat another
00:10:08
Speaker 1: of the chef's masterpieces. Oh I forgot to mention another
00:10:12
Speaker 1: important member of the ship's crew, Estelle the parrot cook.
00:10:18
Speaker 1: That's right, a parrot was the official cook on board
00:10:22
Speaker 1: the pirate ship. Well. She is a scarlet macaw technically,
00:10:28
Speaker 1: with a bright red body and dazzling yellow and blue wings.
00:10:33
Speaker 1: It might sound silly to have a parrot as a chef,
00:10:37
Speaker 1: but if you tried Estelle's vegetarian chili, you would understand
00:10:42
Speaker 1: why it is fantastic. Estelle the Parrot grew all of
00:10:48
Speaker 1: her ingredients aboard the ship in her own little vegetable
00:10:52
Speaker 1: garden on the top deck, closest to the sun. Estelle
00:10:57
Speaker 1: tended to her vegetable garden day in and day out
00:11:02
Speaker 1: to grow the most delicious, succulent vegetables, herbs and spices
00:11:07
Speaker 1: to use in her cooking. Captain Sloane and Captain Cliff
00:11:13
Speaker 1: had first encountered Estelle the Parrot and her cooking when
00:11:17
Speaker 1: they docked in Mexico several years ago. They had visited
00:11:23
Speaker 1: her restaurant to eat and been dazzled by her tasty concoctions.
00:11:28
Speaker 1: They had invited her to join their pirate crew as
00:11:32
Speaker 1: their chef, and, tempted by the idea of daily adventures
00:11:36
Speaker 1: and boundless freedom, Estelle had accepted their offer. Atticus's favorite
00:11:44
Speaker 1: food that Estelle made was her gooey chocolate brownies. She
00:11:49
Speaker 1: only had cocoa in her kitchen from time to time
00:11:53
Speaker 1: when they stopped buying countries the likes of Nigeria and Peru,
00:11:58
Speaker 1: but when she had some, she always made a few
00:12:02
Speaker 1: extra pieces of chocolate brownie just for Atticus. Anyway, I've
00:12:08
Speaker 1: gone a bit off topic. I've been too distracted by
00:12:12
Speaker 1: Estelle's delicious food. Where were we? Ah? Yes? After lunch,
00:12:18
Speaker 1: Atticus would continue his work as a pirate apprentice. Each day,
00:12:23
Speaker 1: he would follow a different member of the crew to
00:12:26
Speaker 1: watch how they worked and learn from their knowledge and
00:12:29
Speaker 1: experience to develop his own pirrating skills. He would observe
00:12:34
Speaker 1: both of his parents as they went about their captain duties.
00:12:39
Speaker 1: Sometimes they would even let him practice giving out orders
00:12:42
Speaker 1: to the crew and selecting a location to sail to next.
00:12:48
Speaker 1: Atticus loved the idea of being in charge of a
00:12:51
Speaker 1: pirate ship and hoped that one day he would follow
00:12:55
Speaker 1: in his parents' footsteps. Atticus was often compaired with Ace
00:13:01
Speaker 1: the Chimp for his apprenticeship work, which he was more
00:13:04
Speaker 1: than happy about. It seemed like Ace knew everything there
00:13:08
Speaker 1: was to know about a ship, and Ace delighted in
00:13:12
Speaker 1: creating quizzes to test Atticus's knowledge. Ace quizzed Atticus on
00:13:18
Speaker 1: everything from the countries of the world, to the types
00:13:22
Speaker 1: of creatures in the sea, myths and legends, to the
00:13:26
Speaker 1: names of the sides of the boat. They were called
00:13:30
Speaker 1: starboard and port side. By the way, with every one
00:13:34
Speaker 1: of Ace the chimps quizzes, Atticus felt like he was
00:13:38
Speaker 1: learning more and more and one day would know everything
00:13:43
Speaker 1: there was to know about being a successful pirate. But
00:13:47
Speaker 1: the best thing about Ace the Chimp was that Atticus
00:13:51
Speaker 1: looked up to him like a protective big brother. Ace
00:13:56
Speaker 1: always had Atticus's back and whenever at a felt a
00:14:00
Speaker 1: little under the weather or down about something, Ace always
00:14:05
Speaker 1: managed to cheer him up. When Atticus was a little younger,
00:14:10
Speaker 1: his parents sometimes wouldn't let him get off the pirate
00:14:14
Speaker 1: ship with them whenever they were heading out on an
00:14:17
Speaker 1: adventure to search for some hidden treasure. They deemed Attoicus
00:14:22
Speaker 1: too young to come along. Attoicus wanted to join them
00:14:27
Speaker 1: so badly, but his parents assured him that when he
00:14:31
Speaker 1: was older, he could head out on pirrating missions with them.
00:14:36
Speaker 1: While Attoicus was forced to stay on board the ship,
00:14:40
Speaker 1: Ace the chimp would stay behind with him. Ace declared
00:14:45
Speaker 1: himself as Atticus's guardian. He was sworn to protect him
00:14:50
Speaker 1: at all costs, and so instead of heading out on
00:14:54
Speaker 1: adventures himself, Ace would stay with Atticus on the boat
00:14:59
Speaker 1: to keep company and keep him safe. What could have
00:15:04
Speaker 1: been very dull and disappointing days for Atticus turned into
00:15:09
Speaker 1: some of the best days he had on the ship.
00:15:13
Speaker 1: He and Ace would play games on the deck and
00:15:17
Speaker 1: make up their own sea shanties to sing. They created
00:15:21
Speaker 1: their own secret handshake, and identified creatures in the sea
00:15:26
Speaker 1: that passed by. Once, while all the rest of the
00:15:31
Speaker 1: crew had gone ashore, Atticus and Ace saw a humpback
00:15:37
Speaker 1: whale leap out of the water near the boat, splashing
00:15:41
Speaker 1: a wave of water over the top deck. They ran
00:15:46
Speaker 1: to the side of the boat and called out to
00:15:48
Speaker 1: the gentle giant to grab their attention. It turned out
00:15:53
Speaker 1: that the humpback whale was swimming around with their child
00:15:57
Speaker 1: and they were practicing their acrobatic skills. Atticus and Ace
00:16:05
Speaker 1: happily served as an audience to the young whale as
00:16:08
Speaker 1: it practiced and showcased its moves to them before swimming
00:16:13
Speaker 1: back off into the open sea. When the rest of
00:16:18
Speaker 1: the crew returned to the boat and Atticus recounted the story,
00:16:23
Speaker 1: they hadn't believed him, but Atticus and Ace didn't need
00:16:28
Speaker 1: anyone to believe them. They knew the truth and that
00:16:34
Speaker 1: was all that mattered. Atticus had a lot of fun
00:16:38
Speaker 1: training with the other members of the crew too. Whenever
00:16:43
Speaker 1: Atticus was an apprentice to rain the boatswain, she would
00:16:47
Speaker 1: often allow him to slack off from pirating duties and
00:16:51
Speaker 1: treat him to a game of swashbuckling to test out
00:16:54
Speaker 1: his skills. Rain had said several times that Atticus showed
00:17:00
Speaker 1: promise as a successful swashbuckler, and she expected that he
00:17:04
Speaker 1: would earn one of his pirate stripes for it sooner
00:17:07
Speaker 1: rather than later, Atticus hoped, so he couldn't wait to
00:17:12
Speaker 1: become a true pirate and put his skills to the test.
00:17:18
Speaker 1: Atticus would spend hours practicing his sword, flourishing and parries
00:17:24
Speaker 1: with Rain on the deck, and sometimes she would even
00:17:28
Speaker 1: let him wear her pirate bandanna while he did it
00:17:32
Speaker 1: so that he could feel like a proper pirate. Training
00:17:37
Speaker 1: with old Huck was a bit more laid back, since
00:17:41
Speaker 1: Huck couldn't do much that was energetic anymore. He would
00:17:45
Speaker 1: sleepily sit in the crow's nest as the lookout for
00:17:50
Speaker 1: hours on end. Whenever Atticus had to shadow him, Huck
00:17:55
Speaker 1: would hand him a telescope and tell him to look
00:17:58
Speaker 1: out over the sea for approaching ships and distant lands.
00:18:04
Speaker 1: Then Huk would spend the rest of the time snoozing
00:18:09
Speaker 1: and snoring in the crow's nest until it was time
00:18:12
Speaker 1: for dinner. Estelle the parrot would always say, why do
00:18:19
Speaker 1: we have the oldest man on the ship as lookout?
00:18:23
Speaker 1: He can barely see what is two meters in front
00:18:27
Speaker 1: of him, let alone what is miles in a distance,
00:18:31
Speaker 1: But Atticus didn't mind. He enjoyed his time serving as lookout.
00:18:37
Speaker 1: Through the telescope, he would often see dolphins dancing in
00:18:42
Speaker 1: the distance, and sometimes spot the mast of a ship
00:18:46
Speaker 1: passing by far ahead. It was a great way of
00:18:51
Speaker 1: observing the sea and getting a better bearing of where
00:18:55
Speaker 1: they were sailing one day. These skills would prove very handy.
00:19:02
Speaker 1: Although Huck could often be a sleepy sailor, sometimes he
00:19:07
Speaker 1: was still useful. Land ahoy, Old Huck called out from
00:19:14
Speaker 1: the lookout point one day. Rein the Boatswain rolled her
00:19:19
Speaker 1: eyes as if she was expecting it not to be true,
00:19:24
Speaker 1: but to her surprise, when she turned round, she too
00:19:28
Speaker 1: could spot land ahead. Atticus ran over to Ace and
00:19:34
Speaker 1: asked him if he knew what island this was. The
00:19:38
Speaker 1: clever chimp consulted his map, but he couldn't match it up.
00:19:44
Speaker 1: The island didn't appear to be on the map. Atticus's
00:19:49
Speaker 1: eyes lit up and his tummy started to bubble. He asked, Ace,
00:19:57
Speaker 1: do you think we might be about to fight a
00:20:00
Speaker 1: secret island? A smiled and replied maybe. Wouldn't that be exciting?
00:20:12
Speaker 1: Atticus's parents ordered the crew to pull up off shore
00:20:16
Speaker 1: so that they could explore the island. They pulled up
00:20:20
Speaker 1: along a white, sandy beach surrounded by tall, green palm trees.
00:20:27
Speaker 1: There was nobody else around, so it was the perfect
00:20:31
Speaker 1: secluded spot for them to dock their boat. Esther the parrot,
00:20:37
Speaker 1: stayed on board to keep watch over the boat while
00:20:40
Speaker 1: the rest of the crew hopped off to explore the island,
00:20:44
Speaker 1: even Atticus. The crew decided to split up to search
00:20:50
Speaker 1: the island for resources, so Captain Sloane and Captain Cliff
00:20:55
Speaker 1: went one way rain the Boatswain and Huck pared off,
00:21:00
Speaker 1: and Atticus went off exploring with his trusty guardian, Ace
00:21:05
Speaker 1: the Chimp. The island appeared deserted. There was no sign
00:21:12
Speaker 1: of anybody else being there. It felt as though the
00:21:16
Speaker 1: island was reserved just for their pirate crew. After a
00:21:22
Speaker 1: while of walking along the beach in the hot sun,
00:21:26
Speaker 1: Ace and Atticus decided to sit down on the sand
00:21:29
Speaker 1: and relax. Atticus was glad that he had put on
00:21:34
Speaker 1: his sun cream today. The sun was so warm that
00:21:38
Speaker 1: he could feel his nose prickling from the heat. Ace
00:21:43
Speaker 1: turned to Atticus from his relaxed position and said, so,
00:21:50
Speaker 1: what shall we call this new island we found? Then
00:21:56
Speaker 1: Atticus grinned excitedly and looked around for inspiration. He spied
00:22:03
Speaker 1: the tall cocoanut trees and the large palm leaves that
00:22:08
Speaker 1: provided cool shade from the blazing sun. The sand on
00:22:13
Speaker 1: the beach was bright white, and the waters that lapped
00:22:18
Speaker 1: against the shore were a crystal clear azure blue. The
00:22:24
Speaker 1: island was a paradise by all accounts. There was no
00:22:29
Speaker 1: sign of life on the island except for their crew.
00:22:34
Speaker 1: Evatticus closed his eyes. All he could hear were the
00:22:38
Speaker 1: waves lapping on the sand and the sea breeze blowing
00:22:44
Speaker 1: through the trees. It was blissful. If he was going
00:22:51
Speaker 1: to choose a name for the island, then it had
00:22:54
Speaker 1: to be a good one, one that reflected the atmosphere
00:22:58
Speaker 1: of the island. Then all of a sudden, Atticus noticed
00:23:05
Speaker 1: the sand to his side starting to bubble and quake.
00:23:12
Speaker 1: The grains of sand began to shift, and he watched
00:23:16
Speaker 1: in awe as something small tried to push its way through.
00:23:23
Speaker 1: Atticus nudged Ace to capture his attention and whispered, look,
00:23:29
Speaker 1: what's going on. Ace looked just as perplexed as Atticus,
00:23:35
Speaker 1: and they stared at the moving sand with anticipation. They
00:23:42
Speaker 1: watched as the sand crumbled to the sides, and out
00:23:47
Speaker 1: poked a little face with big black eyes and a
00:23:51
Speaker 1: curved beaklike snout. The little creature continued to shuffle its
00:23:58
Speaker 1: way out of the sand, and as it emerged, Atticus
00:24:03
Speaker 1: and Ace could seem more clearly. With its large ridge
00:24:09
Speaker 1: shell and four flappy legs, it could only be one thing.
00:24:15
Speaker 1: It was a baby turtle. Ace had a moment of
00:24:20
Speaker 1: recognition and he clapped his hands with delight. He whispered
00:24:25
Speaker 1: to Atticus excitedly, it must be a baby turtle hatchling.
00:24:32
Speaker 1: How wonderful, But usually there is much more than just
00:24:38
Speaker 1: one baby turtle hatching at a time. I wonder where
00:24:43
Speaker 1: the others are, as if they had heard him right
00:24:48
Speaker 1: on cue, The sand around Atticus and Ace started to
00:24:53
Speaker 1: bubble and shift, and they watched on in awe as
00:24:58
Speaker 1: maybe a hundred baby turtles emerged from the beach. The cute,
00:25:05
Speaker 1: tiny creatures scooted their shells out of the sand and
00:25:11
Speaker 1: used their flailing legs to drag their bellies towards the sea.
00:25:17
Speaker 1: The hundred or so adorable hatchlings reached the water to
00:25:22
Speaker 1: take their first swim and jumped straight in. They coasted
00:25:28
Speaker 1: the shallow waves before diving down into the deep blue
00:25:33
Speaker 1: sea and out of sight. Wow, sighed Atticus, amazed by
00:25:42
Speaker 1: the incredible moment, Ace explained to Atticus what they had
00:25:48
Speaker 1: just seen. He explained that the mother turtle lays her
00:25:53
Speaker 1: eggs in the sand and leaves them safely covered for
00:25:57
Speaker 1: around sixty days so the babies have time to grow. Then,
00:26:04
Speaker 1: when the babies are ready to hatch, they emerge from
00:26:08
Speaker 1: the sand and returned to the sea to start their
00:26:11
Speaker 1: new life. Atticus smiled affectionately and gazed out to see
00:26:19
Speaker 1: what a beautiful thing to witness. He turned back to
00:26:25
Speaker 1: Ace the chimp and suggested, I have an idea for
00:26:31
Speaker 1: what we should call the deserted island. It should be
00:26:35
Speaker 1: called Turtle Bay. Ace thought that was a great name.
00:26:43
Speaker 1: Turtle Bay it is, he agreed. Captain Sloane and Captain
00:26:49
Speaker 1: Cliff wandered over to where Atticus and Ace were sitting,
00:26:54
Speaker 1: carrying as many coconuts as they possibly could. Jumped up
00:27:01
Speaker 1: and asked his parents if they had seen the sea
00:27:03
Speaker 1: turtles hatching from the sand too, but they were disappointed
00:27:08
Speaker 1: to have missed out. It seemed that only Atticus and
00:27:13
Speaker 1: Ace were lucky enough to have witnessed the natural phenomena
00:27:18
Speaker 1: rain the Boatswain and Huck approached from behind Atticus's parents,
00:27:23
Speaker 1: carrying lots of coconuts too, and Atticus and Ace jumped
00:27:29
Speaker 1: up to help out as well. Apparently, Estell had said
00:27:34
Speaker 1: that if they got enough coconuts from the island, then
00:27:37
Speaker 1: she would cook up a delicious coconut curry for dinner,
00:27:42
Speaker 1: so everyone was on hand to pick as many coconuts
00:27:45
Speaker 1: as possible from the trees. With around thirty coconuts picked
00:27:51
Speaker 1: between them all, the pirate crew returned to the boat
00:27:56
Speaker 1: and delivered the coconuts to the galley for Estell. Atticus
00:28:02
Speaker 1: could already imagine how delicious EST's curry would be for dinner,
00:28:07
Speaker 1: and he licked his lips in anticipation. The crew returned
00:28:13
Speaker 1: to their positions, ready to set off back out into
00:28:17
Speaker 1: the open sea. The day was drawing closer to its end,
00:28:22
Speaker 1: and Atticus could see the sun beginning to set in
00:28:26
Speaker 1: the distance. The sun's orange rays were radiating out across
00:28:33
Speaker 1: the water at the point of the horizon, and the
00:28:36
Speaker 1: sky was turning a deeper shade of purple. Soon it
00:28:42
Speaker 1: would be night, and Atticus could practice identifying the star constellations,
00:28:48
Speaker 1: which was one of his favorite things to do. The
00:28:53
Speaker 1: boat pulled away from Turtle Bay and set sail across
00:28:57
Speaker 1: the still sea. Atticus leant over the side of the
00:29:02
Speaker 1: boat and gazed at the waters below. On their pirate ship,
00:29:09
Speaker 1: they could travel anywhere they wanted. By the time Atticus
00:29:15
Speaker 1: was an old man, like Huck, he would have traveled
00:29:18
Speaker 1: the world several times over. He knew that he would
00:29:23
Speaker 1: see so many amazing, miraculous things, just like catching the
00:29:29
Speaker 1: baby turtles hatching on the beach. The world was full
00:29:35
Speaker 1: of possibilities and adventures, and Atticus couldn't wait to experience
00:29:41
Speaker 1: it all. As Atticus gazed down into the crystal clear waters,
00:29:49
Speaker 1: he spotted a dolphin meandering its way playfully through the
00:29:54
Speaker 1: sea at the side of the boat. As Atticus looked closer,
00:30:00
Speaker 1: he spotted something else swimming there too. Dotted around the dolphin,
00:30:07
Speaker 1: as if using it as their guide, were three baby
00:30:11
Speaker 1: turtles swimming alongside. It seemed that the baby turtles were
00:30:18
Speaker 1: getting used to their new home, a new world very quickly.
00:30:24
Speaker 1: Atticus rested his head on his folded arms and watched
00:30:29
Speaker 1: the graceful sea creatures navigate through the waters. The gentle
00:30:36
Speaker 1: movement of their bodies and the subtle ripples of the
00:30:40
Speaker 1: waves combined with the rocking of the ship, made Atticus
00:30:46
Speaker 1: fear a little sleepy. That was another thing that was
00:30:52
Speaker 1: fantastic about living on a pirate ship. There was nothing
00:30:57
Speaker 1: better to see you off to a soothing sleep and
00:31:02
Speaker 1: the soft swaying of the boat and the sounds of
00:31:08
Speaker 1: the ocean in your ears. Atticus looked out at the
00:31:14
Speaker 1: sea and the setting sun, embraced the bobbing motion of
00:31:20
Speaker 1: the boat, and dreamt of what his next adventure would
00:31:26
Speaker 1: be in his thrilling life as a trainee pirate on
00:31:32
Speaker 1: a pirate ship.
