Camo The Chameleon🦎🌈 Kids Bedtime Story

Camo The Chameleon🦎🌈 Kids Bedtime Story

In tonight's specially selected rewind bedtime story, we look back on the time we met a little Chameleon called Camo. Camo loves changing the colour of his skin, and his favourite patterns to wear are bright, shiny and colourful. However one day at a party, Camo begins to feel a little shy. He thinks maybe he ought to stop wearing such bright colours, as he stands out in a crowd. Luckily, our friend Koko is there to help Camo realise that he should be happy just the way he is, because the best person you can be is yourself. Relax, get sleepy, and let’s begin!

This story was inspired by Kenzie2341 who came up with the idea of Camo and sent it to us in a review. Thank you Kenzie for your amazing idea, we hope you enjoy the story. ⭐

Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to Kuala Moon, a podcast of

00:00:14

Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime

00:00:21

Speaker 1: a dream. This is such a heartwarming story and it's

00:00:26

Speaker 1: inspired by listener Kenzie two three four one, who wrote

00:00:30

Speaker 1: in their review, Hello, Coco Sleep, I have a story

00:00:34

Speaker 1: idea you should write about a chameleon named Camo. He

00:00:38

Speaker 1: loves hide and seek and it's really good at it.

00:00:42

Speaker 1: They go on to explain the plot. But the name

00:00:44

Speaker 1: Camo is brilliant. It gave Jillian so many ideas. And

00:00:49

Speaker 1: although this Camo does love hide and seek, actually, what

00:00:54

Speaker 1: he realizes one day at a party is that he

00:00:57

Speaker 1: needs to feel comfortable in his own skin and stop

00:01:00

Speaker 1: hiding his natural colors by adapting to everyone else's. A

00:01:06

Speaker 1: special and familiar little ukulele playing friend gives him some

00:01:10

Speaker 1: wonderful advice about how to feel fine in his own

00:01:14

Speaker 1: skin and let his true colors shine. Finally, Camo discovers

00:01:20

Speaker 1: how magical it feels to be himself. I'm very excited

00:01:25

Speaker 1: to read you the story, but first, thank you to

00:01:29

Speaker 1: Kenzie two three four one for inspiring us. So snuggle

00:01:34

Speaker 1: down into your bed and get ready to meet Camo.

00:01:38

Speaker 1: The Chameleon by Julian Rogerson, inspired by Kenzie two three

00:01:44

Speaker 1: four one. Camo was a young comedian who lived with

00:01:55

Speaker 1: his family in Sleepy Forest. He loved changing the color

00:01:59

Speaker 1: of his skin and would sometimes start the morning with

00:02:02

Speaker 1: just one color, like pink or green, but throughout the

00:02:07

Speaker 1: day he would add more and more colors until he

00:02:10

Speaker 1: looked like an amazing multi colored patchwork blanket. Camo loved

00:02:17

Speaker 1: trying new combinations of colors and would sometimes include stripes, spots,

00:02:23

Speaker 1: and swirls. He could never decide which color he liked best,

00:02:28

Speaker 1: so he often wore them all at once. His friends

00:02:32

Speaker 1: loved his bright colors and said Camo was like a

00:02:36

Speaker 1: beautiful walking rainbow. One day, Camo and his parents were

00:02:41

Speaker 1: getting ready for a big picnic party in Sleepy Forest.

00:02:45

Speaker 1: The celebration was held every year, and Camo always enjoyed it.

00:02:51

Speaker 1: All his friends would be at the party, and there

00:02:53

Speaker 1: would be fun games to play and delicious food to eat.

00:02:57

Speaker 1: He'd been looking forward to it for a long time.

00:03:01

Speaker 1: Camo stood in front of the mirror in his bedroom

00:03:04

Speaker 1: and wondered what color skin would be best for the party.

00:03:08

Speaker 1: Perhaps a joyful yellow with red and blue spots, or

00:03:14

Speaker 1: a cheerful, stripey pattern of green, purple, and pink, perhaps

00:03:21

Speaker 1: of bright shimmering gold with silver sparkles. He tried the

00:03:26

Speaker 1: different looks and turned from side to side in front

00:03:30

Speaker 1: of the mirror to see how he looked. The patterns

00:03:34

Speaker 1: all looked perfect for a party, and he just couldn't

00:03:38

Speaker 1: decide which one to wear. His mum came into his room.

00:03:43

Speaker 1: She had turned herself into a soft shade of yellow,

00:03:47

Speaker 1: and her head, tail and legs were a dark golden brown.

00:03:53

Speaker 1: Camo said, she looked like a beautiful sunflower. He said,

00:03:58

Speaker 1: I can't decide to wear, mum. What made you choose

00:04:03

Speaker 1: your party colors? His mum said, I thought about the

00:04:08

Speaker 1: party we're going to, and thinking about the fun time

00:04:12

Speaker 1: we'll have and the lovely friends will meet made my

00:04:15

Speaker 1: skin change all on its own. It's like my skin

00:04:20

Speaker 1: matched my happy thoughts. It often happens that way for me.

00:04:25

Speaker 1: Why don't you try it. Close your eyes and imagine

00:04:29

Speaker 1: the fun you're going to have at the picnic. Camo

00:04:34

Speaker 1: closed his little eyes. He thought about the picnic, warmth

00:04:40

Speaker 1: and happiness flowed through him like a river of joy.

00:04:45

Speaker 1: He opened his eyes and looked in the mirror. His

00:04:49

Speaker 1: skin had turned all the colors of the rainbow with

00:04:53

Speaker 1: a light covering of glimmering gold sparkles. He grinned at

00:04:58

Speaker 1: his reflection. Camo's mom smiled at her son and said, Hugh,

00:05:06

Speaker 1: look amazing like a sparkling rainbow. Are you ready to

00:05:13

Speaker 1: go now? Camo nodded. He couldn't stop smiling as he

00:05:18

Speaker 1: thought about the party. His dad was waiting at the

00:05:23

Speaker 1: door for them. His skin was gold and brown with

00:05:26

Speaker 1: flecks of pale yellow. His colors perfectly matched Camo's mom.

00:05:34

Speaker 1: The Comeleian family left their house and headed along the

00:05:37

Speaker 1: forest path. Camos skipped happily and hummed one of his

00:05:42

Speaker 1: favorite tunes. They walked under the shade of the trees

00:05:47

Speaker 1: and heard the birds singing sweetly from the treetops. The

00:05:52

Speaker 1: air was warm and scented with wild flowers and herbs.

00:05:57

Speaker 1: It was a wonderful day for a party. Camo continued

00:06:03

Speaker 1: skipping along the sun's rays, highlighting the golden sparkles on

00:06:08

Speaker 1: his skin. Very soon, the family heard the sound of

00:06:13

Speaker 1: happy chatter and laughter. They knew it was coming from

00:06:17

Speaker 1: the party area ahead. It seemed to be louder than

00:06:22

Speaker 1: in previous years. Camo looked up at his mum and

00:06:27

Speaker 1: asked how many animals would be at the party. She replied,

00:06:32

Speaker 1: it sounds like absolutely everyone from Sleepy Forest is already

00:06:38

Speaker 1: there right now. Camo's skipping turned into slow steps. Mom.

00:06:47

Speaker 1: How many animals live in Sleepy Forest? She shrugged, I'm

00:06:52

Speaker 1: not sure, but there are a lot. Camo walked a

00:06:57

Speaker 1: little slower, and rainbow colors faded ever so slightly. His

00:07:03

Speaker 1: parents noticed immediately and asked what was troubling him. Camo

00:07:09

Speaker 1: looked at the path and said quietly, I'm not sure.

00:07:16

Speaker 1: I suddenly feel shy. I won't know anyone at the party,

00:07:21

Speaker 1: and I don't know what to say to them. Do

00:07:24

Speaker 1: you think my colors are too bright? Should I change them?

00:07:29

Speaker 1: Will I stand out too much? His dad scooped his

00:07:33

Speaker 1: son into his arms, tickled him under the chin, and said,

00:07:38

Speaker 1: don't even think about changing. You're perfect just the way

00:07:44

Speaker 1: you are. Think about those new animals as friends you

00:07:49

Speaker 1: haven't met yet. When they see you, they'll think, wow,

00:07:56

Speaker 1: look at that rainbow. Comeleon. He like a lot of fun.

00:08:02

Speaker 1: I must talk to him immediately. Camo giggled and his

00:08:07

Speaker 1: colors turned bright once more. A few minutes later, the

00:08:13

Speaker 1: Comeleons arrived at the party. Camo saw his friends on

00:08:19

Speaker 1: the bouncy castle and ran over to them. They cheered

00:08:22

Speaker 1: loudly when they saw him and told him to jump

00:08:25

Speaker 1: on his friend, Coco. The Koala grinned at Camo and

00:08:30

Speaker 1: held his hand out to him. Coco said, you had

00:08:36

Speaker 1: better hold my hand in case you accidentally changed into

00:08:41

Speaker 1: the same colors as the bouncy castle. We don't want

00:08:44

Speaker 1: to bounce on you by mistake. Camo laughed and held

00:08:50

Speaker 1: hands with Coco as they bounced happily on the fun castle.

00:08:57

Speaker 1: Camo and his friends played some more on the castle

00:09:01

Speaker 1: and then went on the helter skelter slide that circled

00:09:04

Speaker 1: a big tree. After that, they went on the swings

00:09:08

Speaker 1: and took turns pushing each other. Camo had a wonderful time,

00:09:14

Speaker 1: and he glowed brighter and brighter. When it was time

00:09:20

Speaker 1: for food, he skipped over to the picnic tables and

00:09:24

Speaker 1: sat down with his friends. The rest of the picnic

00:09:28

Speaker 1: guests sat down too. Camo continued to glow brightly, and

00:09:35

Speaker 1: his friend said his rainbow colors looked amazing in the sunlight.

00:09:41

Speaker 1: Camo nibbled on a cucumber sandwich. As he did so,

00:09:46

Speaker 1: he looked around at the other animals. Some of them

00:09:50

Speaker 1: were wearing party clothes, but he couldn't help noticing they

00:09:54

Speaker 1: weren't as bright as his rainbow skin. Was he too bright?

00:10:00

Speaker 1: Should he change into one or two colors instead to

00:10:04

Speaker 1: look like everyone else. He shifted in his seat a

00:10:08

Speaker 1: bit and looked down at the table. He didn't want

00:10:12

Speaker 1: to look different any more. He wanted to look like

00:10:17

Speaker 1: everyone else. Camo's colors began to fade. Ko Ko noticed

00:10:25

Speaker 1: the change in his friend and put down the cupcake

00:10:28

Speaker 1: he was eating. He asked Kamo if he wasn't feeling well.

00:10:35

Speaker 1: Camo mumbled, I'm too bright. I stand out too much.

00:10:43

Speaker 1: Ko Ko smiled kindly at his friend. I think you

00:10:47

Speaker 1: look amazing. Camos said quietly, I don't feel amazing. Maybe

00:10:58

Speaker 1: I should try to look like everyone else instead of

00:11:01

Speaker 1: being so colorful. He gave Coco a small smile. I

00:11:07

Speaker 1: don't know what's wrong with me. I've never felt like

00:11:11

Speaker 1: this before, Coco said, there's nothing wrong with you. I

00:11:19

Speaker 1: think you're feeling a bit mixed up inside your head.

00:11:23

Speaker 1: I feel like that sometimes. I don't know why it happens,

00:11:28

Speaker 1: but it just does. And when it happens, I go

00:11:33

Speaker 1: for a walk through the forest and take my mind

00:11:36

Speaker 1: off my worries by looking at things. Camo frowned. What

00:11:43

Speaker 1: sort of things? Oh, you know, the trees and the flowers,

00:11:50

Speaker 1: the rivers and the hills. I listen to the birds

00:11:54

Speaker 1: singing and the leaves and the trees rustling. There's something

00:11:59

Speaker 1: magic about sleepy forest. And when I have a long

00:12:03

Speaker 1: walk through it, I always feel better. Why don't you

00:12:08

Speaker 1: try it. You don't have to go far, and when

00:12:12

Speaker 1: you feel better, you could come back to the party.

00:12:15

Speaker 1: I'll still be here, Camo smiled at his friend. I

00:12:22

Speaker 1: will try it, Thanks Coco. I'll let my mum and

00:12:27

Speaker 1: dad know where I'm going. The little chameleon ran over

00:12:32

Speaker 1: to his parents and told them he was going for

00:12:36

Speaker 1: a walk and wouldn't be long. They offered to go

00:12:39

Speaker 1: with him, but he said he needed a little bit

00:12:43

Speaker 1: of time on his own. They nodded in understanding. Camo

00:12:49

Speaker 1: walked away from the party and further into the forest.

00:12:54

Speaker 1: His colors grew dimmer, and the mixed up thoughts in

00:12:58

Speaker 1: his head were around and around. He stared at the

00:13:04

Speaker 1: path as he walked along. He remembered Coco's words and

00:13:10

Speaker 1: looked more closely at it. The path was made out

00:13:16

Speaker 1: of soft bark chippings, and each piece was a different

00:13:21

Speaker 1: size from the one next to it. Camo noticed something.

00:13:27

Speaker 1: The chippings were different shades of brown. Some were dark

00:13:32

Speaker 1: like the fur of his bear friend Napoleon, and some

00:13:36

Speaker 1: were a paler shade like the milky hot chocolate his

00:13:40

Speaker 1: dad made him at nighttime. Thinking about his friend Napoleon

00:13:46

Speaker 1: and then his favorite drink made Camo's smile. His skin

00:13:52

Speaker 1: turned the same speckled brown as the path. Camo looked

00:13:58

Speaker 1: at the rose bushes the side of the path. They

00:14:02

Speaker 1: were all different shades too. He slowed his steps and

00:14:07

Speaker 1: looked closer at them. He saw shades of burgundy and ruby,

00:14:14

Speaker 1: butter yellow and ivory, and a lovely orange color that

00:14:20

Speaker 1: looked like the fur of his orangutang friend, Oscar. He

00:14:26

Speaker 1: gently pushed his nose into the roses and inhaled the

00:14:31

Speaker 1: soothing scent. His speckled brown skin became dotted with the

00:14:39

Speaker 1: colors of the roses. Seeing his new skin made him chuckle.

00:14:45

Speaker 1: Camo carried on walking, a soft smile on his face.

00:14:52

Speaker 1: He looked at the canopy of leaves above him, even

00:14:56

Speaker 1: though they were all green. When the sun one light

00:15:00

Speaker 1: shone through them, it made them turn a lighter shade,

00:15:04

Speaker 1: almost like magic. He stopped walking and tried to count

00:15:10

Speaker 1: the different shades of green that he could see amongst

00:15:13

Speaker 1: the leaves. He saw lime, green, fern, olive, sage, and

00:15:22

Speaker 1: a shiny green that looked like apples in the forest orchard.

00:15:28

Speaker 1: His mum sometimes made pies with those apples. Thinking about

00:15:33

Speaker 1: those delicious pies made Camo lick his lips. Camo's skin

00:15:40

Speaker 1: absorbed the beautiful colors of the leaves. He looked at

00:15:45

Speaker 1: his skin and a wide smile settled on his mint

00:15:49

Speaker 1: green lips. He felt like he was part of sleepy forest.

00:15:55

Speaker 1: It was a comforting feeling. A colorful bird with long

00:16:02

Speaker 1: tail feathers flew down to him and landed on a rock.

00:16:07

Speaker 1: Her feathers were a captivating combination of emerald and bright red.

00:16:14

Speaker 1: She smiled at Camo and said, Hi there, I love

00:16:20

Speaker 1: your colors. Thank you. Camo said, I love yours too,

00:16:29

Speaker 1: Would you mind if I copied them? The bird was confused,

00:16:36

Speaker 1: you can copy them? How are you magic? No, it's

00:16:44

Speaker 1: just something I can do. Watch. He changed his colors

00:16:49

Speaker 1: to match the bird's feathers. She was utterly astonished and

00:16:54

Speaker 1: asked what other colors he could change into. Camo showed

00:17:00

Speaker 1: her a variety of shades and ended with his favorite

00:17:04

Speaker 1: rainbow colors. The bird was too amazed to speak, so

00:17:10

Speaker 1: she gave him a feathery round of applause instead. The

00:17:16

Speaker 1: bird asked where he was going. Camo's thoughts returned to

00:17:23

Speaker 1: the picnic party and all the animals there. His colors

00:17:29

Speaker 1: grew dim. He looked at the ground and tried to

00:17:33

Speaker 1: explain about the party and how he didn't want to

00:17:36

Speaker 1: look different to everyone else. He wasn't sure he was

00:17:41

Speaker 1: making any sense, but when he looked back at the bird,

00:17:46

Speaker 1: he saw she was nodding in complete understanding. She said,

00:17:52

Speaker 1: I'm different to a lot of birds, but when you

00:17:57

Speaker 1: think about it, we're all different anyway. No animal is

00:18:03

Speaker 1: exactly like another one, because we eat different things, and

00:18:08

Speaker 1: we might laugh at different jokes. Even our voices are different.

00:18:15

Speaker 1: Caamo sighed, ah, but I don't want to be different.

00:18:25

Speaker 1: The bird hopped closer to him. In a softer tone,

00:18:30

Speaker 1: she said, Can I ask what you thought about me

00:18:35

Speaker 1: when you first saw me? Caamo smiled, I thought you

00:18:42

Speaker 1: were beautiful, I love your red and green feathers. They

00:18:48

Speaker 1: make me feel happy inside. I think you're beautiful too,

00:18:55

Speaker 1: the bird said to Kamo. She grinned, and a little

00:19:01

Speaker 1: bit magical you must be to change how you look

00:19:05

Speaker 1: so easily. The little chameleon smiled some more. Perhaps he

00:19:14

Speaker 1: was a little bit magical. It was a lovely thought,

00:19:19

Speaker 1: and it made him glow. Perhaps he could be different

00:19:24

Speaker 1: in a small way. That felt good too. Will you

00:19:30

Speaker 1: go back to the party, the bird asked, not yet.

00:19:37

Speaker 1: I want to keep walking for a while longer. Gamo replied,

00:19:42

Speaker 1: it was lovely to meet you. The bird said it

00:19:47

Speaker 1: was lovely to meet him too, and hoped their paths

00:19:51

Speaker 1: would cross again some day. Camo waved good bye and

00:19:57

Speaker 1: went on his way. He was still glowing with happiness.

00:20:04

Speaker 1: Soon he met a bright colored monkey who had a

00:20:07

Speaker 1: vibrant pink nose, bright blue cheeks, and tufts of green

00:20:14

Speaker 1: fur behind his ears. Upon meeting each other, the monkey

00:20:20

Speaker 1: and the comeleon said hello and admired the other one's colors.

00:20:26

Speaker 1: Just like the little bird. The monkey was amazed to

00:20:30

Speaker 1: see Camo copy his colors. The monkey chuckled and said, hm,

00:20:37

Speaker 1: we just like twins. We should climb trees together and

00:20:43

Speaker 1: jump through the branches. When Camo said he didn't know

00:20:49

Speaker 1: how to jump through the branches, the monkey kindly offered

00:20:53

Speaker 1: to carry Camo on his back and they could jump

00:20:56

Speaker 1: through the branches together. Camo had an am amazing time

00:21:01

Speaker 1: leaping through the trees with his new friend. His colors

00:21:06

Speaker 1: glowed so brightly that some of the animals below thought

00:21:11

Speaker 1: he was a comeleon shaped star from the night sky.

00:21:17

Speaker 1: After a while, the monkey returned Camo to the ground.

00:21:22

Speaker 1: They promised to meet again soon and said goodbye. Camo

00:21:28

Speaker 1: skipped along the path, his skin was still the same

00:21:32

Speaker 1: color as the monkeys. He hadn't got far when he

00:21:38

Speaker 1: met a cloud of brightly colored butterflies fluttering through the trees.

00:21:45

Speaker 1: The friendly butterflies said hello and admired his colors. Camo

00:21:51

Speaker 1: said he'd copied them from a kind monkey. He asked

00:21:56

Speaker 1: if he could copy their colors too. The butterflies were

00:22:01

Speaker 1: confused and asked what he meant by that. Caamo proceeded

00:22:08

Speaker 1: to show them. He looked at the nearest butterfly. She

00:22:13

Speaker 1: had red wings that were edged in black and white dots.

00:22:19

Speaker 1: Kamo changed his skin so that he matched the butterfly.

00:22:24

Speaker 1: The other butterflies were amazed and asked Camo to match

00:22:28

Speaker 1: them too. One by one, Caamo changed his skin to

00:22:34

Speaker 1: look like the other butterflies. He switched from red to

00:22:39

Speaker 1: bright blue, from blue to emerald green, and from green

00:22:45

Speaker 1: to a shade of orange that looked like an early

00:22:48

Speaker 1: morning sunrise. The butterflies were in awe of Camo and

00:22:54

Speaker 1: his amazing abilities. They asked him to fly with them

00:22:59

Speaker 1: through the forest. When Camo said he couldn't fly, the

00:23:04

Speaker 1: butterflies gathered around him like a rainbow colored blanket and

00:23:09

Speaker 1: gently lifted him like a valuable package. They flew the

00:23:16

Speaker 1: little sunrise colored chameleon through the forest. The gentle wind

00:23:23

Speaker 1: flowed over Camo, and he glimmered and shimmered. He'd never

00:23:29

Speaker 1: flown before, and it was a wonderful experience. After a while,

00:23:37

Speaker 1: the butterflies returned Camo to the ground. They had been

00:23:43

Speaker 1: delighted to meet him and said they would love to

00:23:48

Speaker 1: meet him again one day. Camo smiled as he watched

00:23:55

Speaker 1: them fly away. He returned to his wall. His skin

00:24:02

Speaker 1: was still the color of an orange sunrise. Camo met

00:24:09

Speaker 1: some brightly colored frogs next, Like all the other animals

00:24:14

Speaker 1: he'd met, on his walk. They were astounded at how

00:24:18

Speaker 1: easily he could change his skin color, and they loved

00:24:23

Speaker 1: it when he turned a speckled blue just like them.

00:24:29

Speaker 1: The frogs held hands with Camo and took him jumping

00:24:33

Speaker 1: across the lily pads of a pond. They even helped

00:24:38

Speaker 1: him swim through the water. Camo had never swum before,

00:24:43

Speaker 1: and being in the water was a new experience for him.

00:24:49

Speaker 1: He was so busy having fun that he didn't think

00:24:53

Speaker 1: about the party once. When it was time to say

00:24:59

Speaker 1: goodbye to the the frogs, Camo promised to come back

00:25:04

Speaker 1: another time to play in the water again. He walked

00:25:09

Speaker 1: along the path, still the same color as a speckled

00:25:13

Speaker 1: blue frog. He walked up Forget Me Not Hill. He

00:25:19

Speaker 1: stopped at the top and sat down on the soft grass.

00:25:26

Speaker 1: He could see the whole of Sleepy forest in the

00:25:29

Speaker 1: valleys below. He thought about the picnic party and the

00:25:35

Speaker 1: fun everyone would be having. He wasn't sure if he

00:25:40

Speaker 1: felt ready to go back yet, maybe a bit more

00:25:44

Speaker 1: time on his own would be good. He gazed softly

00:25:50

Speaker 1: at the green grass around him and the delicate blue

00:25:54

Speaker 1: Forget Me Not flowers. His attention gent, He went to

00:26:00

Speaker 1: the tops of the trees ahead of him. He saw

00:26:05

Speaker 1: them swaying in the wind and heard the soft rustle

00:26:10

Speaker 1: of the leaves. Camo looked at the blue sky and

00:26:17

Speaker 1: the fluffy clouds that drifted by. Some of them looked

00:26:22

Speaker 1: like his friends and made him smile. He took some deep,

00:26:28

Speaker 1: relaxing breaths. He felt more and more peaceful with every

00:26:35

Speaker 1: breath he took. Something gold colored flew towards him. At

00:26:45

Speaker 1: first he thought it was a butterfly, but as the

00:26:49

Speaker 1: animal got closer, he realized she was too big to

00:26:53

Speaker 1: be a butterfly. She wasn't a bird either. The golden

00:26:59

Speaker 1: furred animal landed next to Camo and said hello to him.

00:27:05

Speaker 1: Camo blinked in surprise and said hello. I hope this

00:27:12

Speaker 1: isn't a rude question, but are you a bat? The

00:27:18

Speaker 1: animal nodded happily. I am, and yes, I know what

00:27:25

Speaker 1: you're going to say next. I'm not the same color

00:27:29

Speaker 1: as other bats, but I'm still a bat. I've flown

00:27:35

Speaker 1: all the way over from Bolivia. There are many golden

00:27:40

Speaker 1: bats there. I wanted to travel the world and have

00:27:45

Speaker 1: an adventure, so I set off flying, saw this lovely

00:27:50

Speaker 1: forest and thought I'd take a closer. Look. My name

00:27:55

Speaker 1: is Butterscotch. Camo gave his name and said he'd never

00:28:01

Speaker 1: met a golden bat before, and he loved the warm,

00:28:05

Speaker 1: rich color of her fur. He reminded him of the

00:28:09

Speaker 1: honey one of his friends had given him a few

00:28:13

Speaker 1: weeks ago. Butter Scotch thanked him for his compliment. She

00:28:20

Speaker 1: looked at the forest and asked if it would be

00:28:23

Speaker 1: a good place for her to stay for a while.

00:28:27

Speaker 1: Before Kamo could answer, the little bat sighed and looked

00:28:32

Speaker 1: at the ground. Her golden fur dimmed a little. She said,

00:28:39

Speaker 1: I'm a bit worried about looking different from the bats

00:28:44

Speaker 1: who live here. Do you think I'll be okay? Kamo nodded.

00:28:52

Speaker 1: I was feeling like that earlier, so I went on

00:28:57

Speaker 1: a long walk through the forest. I met some lovely

00:29:01

Speaker 1: animals who were all very happy to be different. It's

00:29:06

Speaker 1: good to be different, and if you think about it,

00:29:11

Speaker 1: we're all different anyway. Even that little blue forget me

00:29:17

Speaker 1: not flower next to you isn't the same as the

00:29:20

Speaker 1: blue flower next to me. I think that being different

00:29:27

Speaker 1: is normal. The animals in this forest are very friendly,

00:29:33

Speaker 1: and I know they would love to meet you. A

00:29:37

Speaker 1: little golden bag gave him a big smile. She said,

00:29:44

Speaker 1: I love your speckled blue skin. Camo looked at his skin.

00:29:52

Speaker 1: He'd forgotten he was still blue. He said, this is

00:29:58

Speaker 1: a color I copy from some one else. Let me

00:30:02

Speaker 1: show you my true colors. Camo thought about all the

00:30:11

Speaker 1: wonderful things in his life, his family and friends, the

00:30:17

Speaker 1: friends he'd made that day, and the ones he was

00:30:21

Speaker 1: yet to make. He thought about the beauty of Sleepy

00:30:25

Speaker 1: Forest and how wonderful it was to walk through it

00:30:29

Speaker 1: and not think about anything very much at all. Camo's

00:30:35

Speaker 1: skin turned. All the colors of the rainbow, and the

00:30:40

Speaker 1: glimmering gold sparkles which had been there earlier returned and

00:30:46

Speaker 1: shone more brightly than before. Butter Scotch the bat let

00:30:53

Speaker 1: out a gasp of amazement. Oh, your colors, she said,

00:31:01

Speaker 1: in a voice full of awe. Your colors are amazing.

00:31:09

Speaker 1: If you don't mind me saying so, you should never

00:31:13

Speaker 1: copy any one else, because you are incredible just the

00:31:18

Speaker 1: way you are. Even though Kamo didn't think it was possible,

00:31:25

Speaker 1: he shone even more brightly. An idea came to him, Butterscotch,

00:31:34

Speaker 1: would you like to come to a picnic party with me?

00:31:38

Speaker 1: I'll introduce you to everyone. I don't know everyone yet,

00:31:43

Speaker 1: but I soon will. Butterscotch said she would love to.

00:31:50

Speaker 1: Camo the rainbow colored chameleon and Butterscotch the golden bat

00:31:56

Speaker 1: from Bolivia traveled through Sleepy Forests and to the picnic party.

00:32:03

Speaker 1: Everyone was overjoyed to see Kamo and said they were

00:32:08

Speaker 1: so glad he had returned. Camo introduced Butterscotch, and the

00:32:14

Speaker 1: animals of Sleepy Forests soon made her feel at home.

00:32:20

Speaker 1: Some of them said they knew the perfect home where

00:32:24

Speaker 1: she could stay for as long as she wanted to,

00:32:28

Speaker 1: even forever if she fell in love with Sleepy Forest

00:32:32

Speaker 1: as they had. Koko the Koala was sitting at a

00:32:37

Speaker 1: picnic table. He waved to Kamo. Kamo joined his friend

00:32:44

Speaker 1: at the table. Ko Ko pushed a plate towards him.

00:32:49

Speaker 1: There was a huge slice of cake on it. Ko

00:32:54

Speaker 1: Ko said he'd saved it for Camo. He asked how

00:32:58

Speaker 1: he's walked through the forest had been. Camo told Coco

00:33:04

Speaker 1: about his journey and how it had ended on the

00:33:08

Speaker 1: top of Forget Me Not Hill. As he spoke, his

00:33:12

Speaker 1: rainbow colors got brighter and brighter. A thoughtful look came

00:33:19

Speaker 1: into Camo's eyes, he said, I'm proud of myself for

00:33:27

Speaker 1: showing my true colors. I didn't feel like that earlier,

00:33:33

Speaker 1: but I do now. Coco put his arm around his

00:33:38

Speaker 1: dear friend and said, I'm proud of you too, buddy.

00:33:46

Speaker 1: And just when Camo thought it wasn't at all possible

00:33:51

Speaker 1: to be any brighter, his colors glowed and glowed. His

00:33:59

Speaker 1: shining light lit up the forest and gently flowed over

00:34:06

Speaker 1: the animals. The animals stopped what they were doing and

00:34:12

Speaker 1: smiled fondly at the beautiful, rainbow colored chameleon.
