In tonight's specially selected rewind bedtime story, we look back on the time we met a little Chameleon called Camo. Camo loves changing the colour of his skin, and his favourite patterns to wear are bright, shiny and colourful. However one day at a party, Camo begins to feel a little shy. He thinks maybe he ought to stop wearing such bright colours, as he stands out in a crowd. Luckily, our friend Koko is there to help Camo realise that he should be happy just the way he is, because the best person you can be is yourself. Relax, get sleepy, and let’s begin!

Speaker 1: looked like an amazing multi colored patchwork blanket. Camo loved

Speaker 1: and swirls. He could never decide which color he liked best,

Speaker 1: so he often wore them all at once. His friends

Speaker 1: beautiful walking rainbow. One day, Camo and his parents were

Speaker 1: getting ready for a big picnic party in Sleepy Forest.

Speaker 1: The celebration was held every year, and Camo always enjoyed it.

Speaker 1: skin had turned all the colors of the rainbow with

Speaker 1: a light covering of glimmering gold sparkles. He grinned at

Speaker 1: his reflection. Camo's mom smiled at her son and said, Hugh,

Speaker 1: air was warm and scented with wild flowers and herbs.

Speaker 1: It was a wonderful day for a party. Camo continued

Speaker 1: skipping along the sun's rays, highlighting the golden sparkles on

Speaker 1: his skin. Very soon, the family heard the sound of

Speaker 1: happy chatter and laughter. They knew it was coming from

Speaker 1: the party area ahead. It seemed to be louder than

Speaker 1: in previous years. Camo looked up at his mum and

Speaker 1: asked how many animals would be at the party. She replied,

Speaker 1: it sounds like absolutely everyone from Sleepy Forest is already

Speaker 1: there right now. Camo's skipping turned into slow steps. Mom.

Speaker 1: How many animals live in Sleepy Forest? She shrugged, I'm

Speaker 1: not sure, but there are a lot. Camo walked a

Speaker 1: little slower, and rainbow colors faded ever so slightly. His

Speaker 1: parents noticed immediately and asked what was troubling him. Camo

Speaker 1: looked at the path and said quietly, I'm not sure.

Speaker 1: I suddenly feel shy. I won't know anyone at the party,

Speaker 1: and I don't know what to say to them. Do

Speaker 1: you think my colors are too bright? Should I change them?

Speaker 1: Will I stand out too much? His dad scooped his

Speaker 1: son into his arms, tickled him under the chin, and said,

Speaker 1: don't even think about changing. You're perfect just the way

Speaker 1: you are. Think about those new animals as friends you

Speaker 1: haven't met yet. When they see you, they'll think, wow,

Speaker 1: look at that rainbow. Comeleon. He like a lot of fun.

Speaker 1: colors turned bright once more. A few minutes later, the

Speaker 1: Comeleons arrived at the party. Camo saw his friends on

Speaker 1: the bouncy castle and ran over to them. They cheered

Speaker 1: loudly when they saw him and told him to jump

Speaker 1: on his friend, Coco. The Koala grinned at Camo and

Speaker 1: held his hand out to him. Coco said, you had

Speaker 1: better hold my hand in case you accidentally changed into

Speaker 1: the same colors as the bouncy castle. We don't want
00:08:44
Speaker 1: to bounce on you by mistake. Camo laughed and held
00:08:50
Speaker 1: hands with Coco as they bounced happily on the fun castle.

Speaker 1: Camo and his friends played some more on the castle

Speaker 1: and then went on the helter skelter slide that circled
00:09:04
Speaker 1: a big tree. After that, they went on the swings

Speaker 1: and took turns pushing each other. Camo had a wonderful time,

Speaker 1: and he glowed brighter and brighter. When it was time

Speaker 1: for food, he skipped over to the picnic tables and

Speaker 1: sat down with his friends. The rest of the picnic

Speaker 1: look amazing. Camos said quietly, I don't feel amazing. Maybe

Speaker 1: I should try to look like everyone else instead of

Speaker 1: don't know what's wrong with me. I've never felt like

Speaker 1: this before, Coco said, there's nothing wrong with you. I

Speaker 1: think you're feeling a bit mixed up inside your head.

Speaker 1: I feel like that sometimes. I don't know why it happens,

Speaker 1: but it just does. And when it happens, I go

Speaker 1: for a walk through the forest and take my mind

Speaker 1: off my worries by looking at things. Camo frowned. What

Speaker 1: sort of things? Oh, you know, the trees and the flowers,

Speaker 1: the rivers and the hills. I listen to the birds

Speaker 1: singing and the leaves and the trees rustling. There's something

Speaker 1: magic about sleepy forest. And when I have a long

Speaker 1: walk through it, I always feel better. Why don't you

Speaker 1: try it. You don't have to go far, and when

Speaker 1: you feel better, you could come back to the party.

Speaker 1: I'll still be here, Camo smiled at his friend. I

Speaker 1: dad know where I'm going. The little chameleon ran over

Speaker 1: to his parents and told them he was going for

Speaker 1: a walk and wouldn't be long. They offered to go

Speaker 1: with him, but he said he needed a little bit

Speaker 1: of time on his own. They nodded in understanding. Camo

Speaker 1: walked away from the party and further into the forest.

Speaker 1: His colors grew dimmer, and the mixed up thoughts in

Speaker 1: his head were around and around. He stared at the

Speaker 1: path as he walked along. He remembered Coco's words and

Speaker 1: looked more closely at it. The path was made out

Speaker 1: of soft bark chippings, and each piece was a different

Speaker 1: size from the one next to it. Camo noticed something.

Speaker 1: The chippings were different shades of brown. Some were dark

Speaker 1: like the fur of his bear friend Napoleon, and some
00:13:36
Speaker 1: were a paler shade like the milky hot chocolate his

Speaker 1: dad made him at nighttime. Thinking about his friend Napoleon
00:13:46
Speaker 1: and then his favorite drink made Camo's smile. His skin
00:13:52
Speaker 1: turned the same speckled brown as the path. Camo looked

Speaker 1: at the rose bushes the side of the path. They

Speaker 1: were all different shades too. He slowed his steps and

Speaker 1: looked closer at them. He saw shades of burgundy and ruby,

Speaker 1: butter yellow and ivory, and a lovely orange color that

Speaker 1: looked like the fur of his orangutang friend, Oscar. He

Speaker 1: gently pushed his nose into the roses and inhaled the

Speaker 1: soothing scent. His speckled brown skin became dotted with the

Speaker 1: colors of the roses. Seeing his new skin made him chuckle.

Speaker 1: Camo carried on walking, a soft smile on his face.

Speaker 1: He looked at the canopy of leaves above him, even

Speaker 1: though they were all green. When the sun one light

Speaker 1: those delicious pies made Camo lick his lips. Camo's skin

Speaker 1: absorbed the beautiful colors of the leaves. He looked at

Speaker 1: his skin and a wide smile settled on his mint

Speaker 1: green lips. He felt like he was part of sleepy forest.

Speaker 1: It was a comforting feeling. A colorful bird with long

Speaker 1: asked what other colors he could change into. Camo showed

Speaker 1: her a variety of shades and ended with his favorite

Speaker 1: rainbow colors. The bird was too amazed to speak, so

Speaker 1: she gave him a feathery round of applause instead. The

Speaker 1: bird asked where he was going. Camo's thoughts returned to

Speaker 1: the picnic party and all the animals there. His colors

Speaker 1: grew dim. He looked at the ground and tried to

Speaker 1: look different to everyone else. He wasn't sure he was

Speaker 1: making any sense, but when he looked back at the bird,

Speaker 1: he saw she was nodding in complete understanding. She said,

Speaker 1: I'm different to a lot of birds, but when you

Speaker 1: think about it, we're all different anyway. No animal is

Speaker 1: exactly like another one, because we eat different things, and

Speaker 1: we might laugh at different jokes. Even our voices are different.

Speaker 1: Caamo sighed, ah, but I don't want to be different.

Speaker 1: The bird hopped closer to him. In a softer tone,

Speaker 1: she said, Can I ask what you thought about me

Speaker 1: when you first saw me? Caamo smiled, I thought you

Speaker 1: were beautiful, I love your red and green feathers. They

Speaker 1: make me feel happy inside. I think you're beautiful too,

Speaker 1: the bird said to Kamo. She grinned, and a little

Speaker 1: so easily. The little chameleon smiled some more. Perhaps he

Speaker 1: fur behind his ears. Upon meeting each other, the monkey

Speaker 1: Just like the little bird. The monkey was amazed to

Speaker 1: see Camo copy his colors. The monkey chuckled and said, hm,

Speaker 1: how to jump through the branches, the monkey kindly offered

Speaker 1: to carry Camo on his back and they could jump

Speaker 1: leaping through the trees with his new friend. His colors

Speaker 1: glowed so brightly that some of the animals below thought

Speaker 1: met a cloud of brightly colored butterflies fluttering through the trees.

Speaker 1: The friendly butterflies said hello and admired his colors. Camo

Speaker 1: said he'd copied them from a kind monkey. He asked

Speaker 1: if he could copy their colors too. The butterflies were

Speaker 1: confused and asked what he meant by that. Caamo proceeded

Speaker 1: to show them. He looked at the nearest butterfly. She

Speaker 1: had red wings that were edged in black and white dots.

Speaker 1: Kamo changed his skin so that he matched the butterfly.

Speaker 1: The other butterflies were amazed and asked Camo to match

Speaker 1: them too. One by one, Caamo changed his skin to

Speaker 1: look like the other butterflies. He switched from red to

Speaker 1: bright blue, from blue to emerald green, and from green

Speaker 1: to a shade of orange that looked like an early

Speaker 1: morning sunrise. The butterflies were in awe of Camo and

Speaker 1: his amazing abilities. They asked him to fly with them

Speaker 1: through the forest. When Camo said he couldn't fly, the

Speaker 1: butterflies gathered around him like a rainbow colored blanket and

Speaker 1: gently lifted him like a valuable package. They flew the

Speaker 1: little sunrise colored chameleon through the forest. The gentle wind

Speaker 1: flowed over Camo, and he glimmered and shimmered. He'd never

Speaker 1: flown before, and it was a wonderful experience. After a while,

Speaker 1: the butterflies returned Camo to the ground. They had been

Speaker 1: he'd met, on his walk. They were astounded at how

Speaker 1: The frogs held hands with Camo and took him jumping

Speaker 1: across the lily pads of a pond. They even helped

Speaker 1: him swim through the water. Camo had never swum before,

Speaker 1: and being in the water was a new experience for him.

Speaker 1: He was so busy having fun that he didn't think

Speaker 1: about the party once. When it was time to say

Speaker 1: goodbye to the the frogs, Camo promised to come back

Speaker 1: along the path, still the same color as a speckled

Speaker 1: blue frog. He walked up Forget Me Not Hill. He

Speaker 1: He could see the whole of Sleepy forest in the

Speaker 1: valleys below. He thought about the picnic party and the

Speaker 1: fun everyone would be having. He wasn't sure if he

Speaker 1: felt ready to go back yet, maybe a bit more

Speaker 1: time on his own would be good. He gazed softly

Speaker 1: at the green grass around him and the delicate blue
