Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to Cocoa Sleep, a podcast of
00:00:14
Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime
00:00:21
Speaker 1: a dream. We're off on our worldly travels again to night,
00:00:27
Speaker 1: this time to a land where the desert sands are
00:00:30
Speaker 1: warm underfoot and the sky above is a vast, dark,
00:00:34
Speaker 1: twinkling blanket of stars. Beneath the stars, and nestled sleepily
00:00:40
Speaker 1: in a bed made of fragrant rose petals, is our
00:00:43
Speaker 1: friendly camel called Cuthbert and his fluffy feline friend, Clove.
00:00:49
Speaker 1: The camel and little ginger cat are about to embark
00:00:52
Speaker 1: on a beautiful, slow adventure across the desert following a
00:00:57
Speaker 1: magical shooting star. Close your eyes and take some lovely
00:01:02
Speaker 1: deep breaths in and out. Relax your hands and feet,
00:01:09
Speaker 1: and have a little wriggle if you need. Okay, now
00:01:15
Speaker 1: you're really comfy, and I'm going to begin Cuthbert the
00:01:18
Speaker 1: Camel's Moonlit Journey by Susannah McLaughlin. In a bustling city
00:01:30
Speaker 1: in Morocco, there lived a friendly camel called Cuthbert. Cuthbert
00:01:36
Speaker 1: was a huge golden camel with velvety fur and big
00:01:40
Speaker 1: brown eyes. He had long, stilt like legs and a
00:01:45
Speaker 1: ginormous hump which pointed up into the sky. He had
00:01:50
Speaker 1: a long, soft brown nose and chomping teeth that jutted
00:01:54
Speaker 1: out underneath it. Cuthbert lived on the edge of the city,
00:01:59
Speaker 1: ready to help anyone who needed him to carry things
00:02:02
Speaker 1: into the desert. There were many camels who lived there
00:02:05
Speaker 1: on the edge of town, eager to lend their assistance
00:02:08
Speaker 1: and clump out into the fluffy sand with food, tents
00:02:13
Speaker 1: and blankets strapped over their humps. Cuthbert loved helping others
00:02:19
Speaker 1: and rewarded himself by relaxing with his camel friends, chewing
00:02:23
Speaker 1: on the big bundles of golden grass given to them
00:02:27
Speaker 1: in thanks for their service. Cuthbert was a calm and
00:02:33
Speaker 1: peaceful camel whose absolute favorite thing to do was to meditate.
00:02:39
Speaker 1: He could often be found sitting in the middle of
00:02:41
Speaker 1: the busiest streets with the calmest, most zen expression on
00:02:46
Speaker 1: his face. His secret to staying so very zen was
00:02:51
Speaker 1: watching the sky. He would look up into the darkness,
00:02:57
Speaker 1: take big, peaceful breaths in and out, and quietly ponder
00:03:03
Speaker 1: the craters of the moon. One night, he was standing
00:03:07
Speaker 1: in the corner of the bustling market square, watching the
00:03:10
Speaker 1: moon begin to rise, when he saw something quite special,
00:03:15
Speaker 1: a shooting star. Cuthbert often saw shooting stars, and he
00:03:21
Speaker 1: always made sure to use them to make special wishes.
00:03:24
Speaker 1: But this one was a little different. It was blue.
00:03:30
Speaker 1: A beautiful, glowing streak of the brightest blue had flown
00:03:35
Speaker 1: across the sky, disappearing behind a large hill way out
00:03:39
Speaker 1: on the horizon. As he mulled over this unusual star,
00:03:45
Speaker 1: chomping on some hay as he thought his friend, Clove
00:03:49
Speaker 1: entered the square, shimmying down a drain pipe and standing
00:03:53
Speaker 1: at his feet. She wished him a good evening, and
00:03:57
Speaker 1: he said hello in return. Close was a beautiful orange
00:04:01
Speaker 1: cat with streaks of caramel and smudges of white in
00:04:05
Speaker 1: her coat. She had a tiny pink nose and almond
00:04:10
Speaker 1: shaped green eyes. Clove was a very tiny cat, but
00:04:16
Speaker 1: she wasn't shy at all. She was always exploring the town,
00:04:20
Speaker 1: chatting with every animal that she saw. She visited the
00:04:25
Speaker 1: camels often, sometimes even taking rides into the desert on
00:04:29
Speaker 1: their backs. Clove said that Cuthbert had a funny expression
00:04:35
Speaker 1: on his face, like he was thinking really hard. Oh,
00:04:39
Speaker 1: I am, Cuthbert said. He told her about the perplexing
00:04:45
Speaker 1: star he had seen whizzing across the sky. Clove gasped,
00:04:50
Speaker 1: her eyes widened, shining in the moonlight. I know what
00:04:56
Speaker 1: that was, she said. She was so excited that her
00:05:00
Speaker 1: next words rushed out of her like a torrent of fireworks.
00:05:05
Speaker 1: Clove explained that she had heard a rumor from a
00:05:08
Speaker 1: bleating group of sheep way over on the other side
00:05:12
Speaker 1: of town many years ago. The sheep told her of
00:05:16
Speaker 1: a special place, the Blue Town. Ever since, Clove had
00:05:22
Speaker 1: been desperate to go there, but the only way to
00:05:25
Speaker 1: find the Blue Town was to follow a special blue
00:05:29
Speaker 1: shooting star, and she'd never met anyone who'd seen one.
00:05:34
Speaker 1: She told Cuthbert that they must follow it. She said
00:05:39
Speaker 1: he would love it in the Blue Town. Anybody would.
00:05:44
Speaker 1: Cuthbert took this in, furrowing his shaggy eyebrows. He had
00:05:50
Speaker 1: never heard of the place. Cuthbert asked Clove what else
00:05:55
Speaker 1: she knew about this special town. Dreamy look took over
00:06:02
Speaker 1: the little cat's eyes. She smiled and began to speak
00:06:07
Speaker 1: with a softness to her voice, clasping her little paws
00:06:11
Speaker 1: together at her heart. The Blue Town is like a
00:06:16
Speaker 1: regular town, Clove told him, But blue every single one
00:06:23
Speaker 1: of its little square buildings is painted in the most
00:06:29
Speaker 1: beautiful as You're blue like the sky. On the clearest,
00:06:34
Speaker 1: most beautiful day of the year. The town is peaceful
00:06:39
Speaker 1: but bustling, with people selling the most colorful crafts and
00:06:44
Speaker 1: paintings amongst winding cobbled streets. The people there are very kind,
00:06:52
Speaker 1: and cats flock there from all over the country to
00:06:56
Speaker 1: get pats and tickles and scraps of delicious food. Most
00:07:01
Speaker 1: of the time the streets are bathed in shimmering golden sunlight,
00:07:08
Speaker 1: but the town is most beautiful at night. At night,
00:07:13
Speaker 1: hundreds and thousands of twinkling stars took over the sky,
00:07:19
Speaker 1: and a huge blue moon rose to hang amongst them.
00:07:25
Speaker 1: Cuthbert thought it sounded amazing, hundreds and thousands of stars.
00:07:34
Speaker 1: He could count those forever meditating under the blue moon.
00:07:40
Speaker 1: He looked up at the stars above him now and
00:07:43
Speaker 1: took a quiet minute to think about the adventure that
00:07:47
Speaker 1: lay before him. He had been very lucky to see
00:07:51
Speaker 1: this shooting star, and he felt in his heart that
00:07:56
Speaker 1: the right thing to do was to follow it. He
00:08:00
Speaker 1: told Clove this, and she rubbed against his leg in affection.
00:08:06
Speaker 1: I knew you were an adventurous camel. She said, what
00:08:12
Speaker 1: a dream come true. I am going to the Blue Town.
00:08:20
Speaker 1: Clothes and Cuthbert went back to their homes and packed
00:08:23
Speaker 1: their bags. Clove picked some delicious snacks and her favorite
00:08:29
Speaker 1: blanket and tied them up in a silk handkerchief, which
00:08:33
Speaker 1: she tied to the end of a stick and slung
00:08:36
Speaker 1: over her shoulder. All Cuthbert needed was his sunglasses, and
00:08:41
Speaker 1: he was ready to go. They said good bye to
00:08:45
Speaker 1: their friends, who promised to visit them as soon as possible.
00:08:50
Speaker 1: They said they would be checking their letter boxes every day,
00:08:54
Speaker 1: excited to receive the postcards that would mark the two
00:08:57
Speaker 1: animals arrival there. When they were ready to go, Cuthbert
00:09:03
Speaker 1: and Clove met up again at the edge of town.
00:09:08
Speaker 1: Clove hopped up onto Cuthbert's back. She found a comfy
00:09:13
Speaker 1: spot atop his hump where she had the best view
00:09:16
Speaker 1: of the passing scenery, and the two friends set off
00:09:20
Speaker 1: towards the hill at the end of the desert, beginning
00:09:24
Speaker 1: their search for the Blue Town. As Cuthbert plodded across
00:09:31
Speaker 1: the sand under the emerging stars, Clove enjoyed the gentle
00:09:37
Speaker 1: rocking of his walk. She sat back, crossed her paws
00:09:42
Speaker 1: behind her head and relaxed. She chattered as cats do
00:09:48
Speaker 1: as they journeyed. Clove said she had grown tired of
00:09:53
Speaker 1: the noise of their busy city. The city was full
00:09:58
Speaker 1: of zooming motor bikes and honking cars, busy vendors, and
00:10:03
Speaker 1: lots and lots of people and animals. She did love
00:10:08
Speaker 1: their home there. The streets were full of delicious smells
00:10:13
Speaker 1: and vibrant colors. The noisiness was mostly made up of
00:10:17
Speaker 1: heartwarming laughter and shouts of hello and good evening. There
00:10:23
Speaker 1: were tall palm trees there, ancient buildings and gardens to explore,
00:10:29
Speaker 1: and lots of friends to be made. She knew little
00:10:33
Speaker 1: sandy dogs and clucking chickens and cats of every size
00:10:38
Speaker 1: and color. She would miss the huge storks who built
00:10:43
Speaker 1: their nests on the rooftops. They would chat with Clove
00:10:48
Speaker 1: as she shimmered up ledges and hopped from window sills
00:10:52
Speaker 1: to window sill, peeking down chimneys and looking out at
00:10:57
Speaker 1: the narrow streets below. Maybe they could use their enormous
00:11:02
Speaker 1: wings to visit her in her new home. Cuthbert smiled
00:11:10
Speaker 1: as Clove chattered on about their friends and the sights
00:11:15
Speaker 1: of their city. After a few hours, Cuthbert and Clove
00:11:21
Speaker 1: had made it over rolling sand dunes, walking up and down,
00:11:27
Speaker 1: up and down, until they reached a big hill which
00:11:32
Speaker 1: rose from the horizon. Cuthbert took some deep breaths to
00:11:38
Speaker 1: prepare for the climb, before slowly and steadily huffing and
00:11:45
Speaker 1: puffing his way up the hill. Clove was first to
00:11:50
Speaker 1: see over the top of the hill. As she was
00:11:53
Speaker 1: perched on the highest peak of Cuthbert's hump, she gasped
00:11:59
Speaker 1: and put her a little orange pour to her mouth.
00:12:03
Speaker 1: There below them was the end of the desert. The
00:12:08
Speaker 1: sand turned into dusty ground which was patchworked with fields
00:12:14
Speaker 1: stretching out for miles towards the greener hills in the distance.
00:12:21
Speaker 1: Cuthbert and Clove sat on the hill for a while,
00:12:25
Speaker 1: looking at the view. As they enjoyed their rest, a
00:12:30
Speaker 1: little lizard came plodding over and plopped down in the
00:12:35
Speaker 1: sand next to them. She was a very wide lizard
00:12:41
Speaker 1: with shiny orange and green scales and a fat little tail.
00:12:47
Speaker 1: She had a pink tongue and shiny blue eyes. They
00:12:52
Speaker 1: all said hello, and the lizard introduced herself as Laylah.
00:12:57
Speaker 1: Laylah lived here on the hill at the edge of
00:12:59
Speaker 1: the desert. She liked burying herself in the warm sand
00:13:04
Speaker 1: and snoozing all day long. Clove nodded. She said she
00:13:09
Speaker 1: loved snoozing in the sun too. In fact, that was
00:13:14
Speaker 1: her favorite thing to do too. That is actually one
00:13:19
Speaker 1: of the reasons that way're going to the Blue Town.
00:13:23
Speaker 1: Clove said to Layla, it's very sunny there, and the
00:13:27
Speaker 1: sunshine is extra golden. Layelah nodded. Oh, yes, she said wisely,
00:13:36
Speaker 1: And the air is warm with magic. Cloves eyes opened wide. Magic.
00:13:46
Speaker 1: She hadn't heard anything about magic. Laylah smiled knowingly. She
00:13:54
Speaker 1: told Cuthbert and Clove that she had heard that the
00:13:59
Speaker 1: Blue Town was alive with magic. The air practically sparkled
00:14:05
Speaker 1: with it, she said. Wishes came true there every day,
00:14:10
Speaker 1: she said. Flowers grew faster there, and little sparkling stars
00:14:16
Speaker 1: whizzed past you on the breeze. Clove couldn't believe it.
00:14:22
Speaker 1: Magic that was beyond her wildest dreams. Cuthbert raised his
00:14:30
Speaker 1: hairy eyebrow. It sounded very nice. Indeed. Layla said that
00:14:36
Speaker 1: lots of magical animals passed through to go to the
00:14:40
Speaker 1: Blue Town, but unfortunately the journey was just too long
00:14:46
Speaker 1: for her little legs. Cuthbert and Clove smiled and without
00:14:52
Speaker 1: any hesitation, told Laylah to hop on board and come
00:14:57
Speaker 1: with them. Layla was thrilled. She thanked the kind camel
00:15:02
Speaker 1: and clambered onto his back. She chose to sit in
00:15:07
Speaker 1: the tufty spot right on top of his head, where
00:15:10
Speaker 1: she curled up and got comfy, ready to journey on. Soon,
00:15:16
Speaker 1: the three friends found themselves passing through the most beautiful
00:15:21
Speaker 1: fields of roses. Most of them were pink, but Clove
00:15:27
Speaker 1: spotted roses of all the colors of the rainbow. The
00:15:32
Speaker 1: most delicious scent wafted from their delicate petals. The flowers
00:15:39
Speaker 1: stretched as far as their eyes could see. It seemed
00:15:43
Speaker 1: that sparkly fairy dust was swirling up from the roses
00:15:49
Speaker 1: and twirling in little rainbow clouds in the air. Leilah
00:15:55
Speaker 1: stuck out her long pink tongue, concentrating on something. After
00:16:01
Speaker 1: a minute, she nodded her flat head and said, confidently,
00:16:08
Speaker 1: I detect magic in the air. Cuthbert moved closer to
00:16:15
Speaker 1: the edge of the path, inspecting the sea of roses.
00:16:21
Speaker 1: Do you hear that, Clove asked. They all went quiet
00:16:28
Speaker 1: and stretched their ears towards the sound. Cuthbert and Laylor
00:16:35
Speaker 1: could hear it too, a little twinkling noise and a
00:16:39
Speaker 1: tittering squeak, as if tiny birds were chattering to each other.
00:16:46
Speaker 1: As they listened even closer, they began to make out
00:16:50
Speaker 1: the sounds of words. It wasn't birds, it was fairies.
00:16:58
Speaker 1: As the animals realized this, they saw movement amongst the roses.
00:17:04
Speaker 1: Little figures were flying amongst their stems and around their petals. Suddenly,
00:17:11
Speaker 1: one zoomed out from the white rose closest to Cuthbert.
00:17:16
Speaker 1: The little fairy had been hard to see because he
00:17:21
Speaker 1: was wearing an outfit made completely from white rose petals
00:17:27
Speaker 1: sown with little threads of silk. He had what looked
00:17:32
Speaker 1: like an upside down flower perched on his head as
00:17:37
Speaker 1: a soft, sweet smelling hat. He said hello to the
00:17:42
Speaker 1: animals and zoomed around them, sprinkling rainbow dust on their bodies.
00:17:49
Speaker 1: As soon as it hit them, a warm and cozy
00:17:53
Speaker 1: feeling spread through their bodies, from their tippy toes all
00:17:57
Speaker 1: the way to their heads. Cuthbert even felt it at
00:18:03
Speaker 1: the tuft on the end of his tail. The fairy
00:18:08
Speaker 1: cooled out, and hundreds of fairies rose from the roses,
00:18:13
Speaker 1: each wearing a flower hat of a different color, in
00:18:17
Speaker 1: all shades of pink, red, blue, yellow, orange, and purple.
00:18:25
Speaker 1: They all chattered with the three animals and showed them
00:18:29
Speaker 1: their flying tricks, flying around their heads and doing little
00:18:33
Speaker 1: somersaults in the air. Cuthbert watched and giggled along for
00:18:39
Speaker 1: a little while, but he was a little worn out
00:18:42
Speaker 1: from the journey and didn't feel particularly chatty. He was
00:18:48
Speaker 1: slowly blinking his big brown eyes and beginning to droop
00:18:55
Speaker 1: his long neck towards the floor, nodding off while while
00:19:00
Speaker 1: still standing, A fairy dressed in ruby red noticed that
00:19:07
Speaker 1: the animals looked sleepy from their journey. She knew they
00:19:11
Speaker 1: had much further to go and thought it was time
00:19:15
Speaker 1: for them to rest. Come on, friends, she said, it's
00:19:22
Speaker 1: time for a nap. The fairy led them into the
00:19:28
Speaker 1: edge of the field through the wall of roses. She
00:19:32
Speaker 1: took them to a hidden clearing where hundreds and thousands
00:19:38
Speaker 1: of soft, velvety rose petals were piled into heaps. It
00:19:45
Speaker 1: was the softest, sweetest smelling bed that any of the
00:19:50
Speaker 1: animals had ever laden. Clove flexed her paws, kneading the
00:19:58
Speaker 1: petals and purring before curling off into a ball and
00:20:04
Speaker 1: wrapping her tail around her. Ready to sleep, Layla ran
00:20:10
Speaker 1: and jumped into a heap of petals, flopping onto her belly,
00:20:16
Speaker 1: with her little arms and legs sticking straight out around her.
00:20:22
Speaker 1: Cuthbert sank into the bed, lay his head down and
00:20:28
Speaker 1: closed his big brown eyes. The fairy smiled and covered
00:20:34
Speaker 1: them all in fairy dust. She wanted to make sure
00:20:40
Speaker 1: that they had the most lovely, relaxing, dream filled sleep,
00:20:48
Speaker 1: so that they arose ready to finish their journey. Cuthbert
00:20:55
Speaker 1: slowly awoke many hours later, feeling happy and refreshed. Every
00:21:02
Speaker 1: part of his body felt so incredibly relaxed that he
00:21:07
Speaker 1: thought he could float. He had dreamt he was swimming
00:21:12
Speaker 1: in a pool with his new friends, relaxing in the
00:21:17
Speaker 1: sun with his sunglasses on, and eating wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow
00:21:23
Speaker 1: of golden crispy hay. It was blissful. Laylor and Clove
00:21:31
Speaker 1: had started to stir to stars were still shining over
00:21:37
Speaker 1: their heads. Cuthbert was confused, what time was it? What
00:21:44
Speaker 1: time was it? As he wrinkled his nose and wriggled
00:21:49
Speaker 1: his toes, the little fairy flew into sight emerging from
00:21:54
Speaker 1: a huge red rose. She said good evening to the
00:21:59
Speaker 1: animals and told them that they had slept through the
00:22:04
Speaker 1: whole day. Wow, Cuthbert thought, no wonder, he felt so good. Layla,
00:22:16
Speaker 1: Clove and Cuthbert ate breakfast with the fairies before their
00:22:21
Speaker 1: little cat and lizard climbed back aboard the camel's back,
00:22:27
Speaker 1: ready to set out on their path. The fairies flew
00:22:32
Speaker 1: with them until they reached the end of the rose fields.
00:22:37
Speaker 1: There the fairies floated together in a cloud of fairy dust,
00:22:43
Speaker 1: waving good bye until the animals were out of sight.
00:22:49
Speaker 1: The three friends had so enjoyed their time staying with
00:22:52
Speaker 1: the fairies, but they were bursting with energy from their
00:22:57
Speaker 1: long slumber and were happy to journey on towards the
00:23:01
Speaker 1: Blue town. As they walked, another blue shooting star jetted overhead,
00:23:10
Speaker 1: showing them the way. It was a beautiful, clear night,
00:23:16
Speaker 1: perfect for walking. Not far from the rose fields, the
00:23:21
Speaker 1: path began to twist and rise up towards the rolling
00:23:26
Speaker 1: hills and orange rocky mountains. It was greener here, and
00:23:32
Speaker 1: Clove marveled at the huge palm trees that swayed overhead.
00:23:39
Speaker 1: They were much taller than in the city. They plodded
00:23:44
Speaker 1: up and plodded down hill after hill, enjoying the trill
00:23:50
Speaker 1: of crickets and soft coops of sleepy birds amongst the
00:23:56
Speaker 1: palm trees. The air was still and warm, and Clove
00:24:02
Speaker 1: and Laylor laid back and began to count the stars.
00:24:08
Speaker 1: Once they had counted five hundred and four, Cuthbert interrupted
00:24:13
Speaker 1: their game with an excited gasp. He had seen something
00:24:19
Speaker 1: on the road. Ahead. They all looked together. Not far
00:24:25
Speaker 1: up the hill stood a beautiful palace. The walls were
00:24:30
Speaker 1: white and shiny and carved with all sorts of patterns.
00:24:36
Speaker 1: There were two big wooden doors with brass knockers on
00:24:40
Speaker 1: the front. Cuthbert said he had never been in a
00:24:45
Speaker 1: palace before, and that one looked particularly grand and inviting.
00:24:53
Speaker 1: Perhaps they could knock on the door and see if
00:24:56
Speaker 1: anyone was home. Clove per with excitement, and Laylah wagged
00:25:03
Speaker 1: her little lizard tail. Before long they reached the palace.
00:25:09
Speaker 1: It was even bigger up close, and the stone walls
00:25:13
Speaker 1: were sparkling in the moonlight. They knocked on the door,
00:25:18
Speaker 1: which swung open as if by magic, releasing poofs of golden,
00:25:24
Speaker 1: shimmering dust out into the air. As the sparkling cloud cleared,
00:25:32
Speaker 1: the animals entered the palace. They explored the palace until
00:25:38
Speaker 1: they reached a huge rectangle courtyard was very pretty with
00:25:44
Speaker 1: little potted trees and a big sparkling turquoise swimming pool.
00:25:50
Speaker 1: There was a little table set up next to the
00:25:53
Speaker 1: pool with two tiny chairs and one very large one.
00:25:58
Speaker 1: The animals sat down the chairs with a perfect size
00:26:03
Speaker 1: for each of them and very comfortable. As they rested,
00:26:10
Speaker 1: they heard a twinkling sound, and in a little firework
00:26:14
Speaker 1: of golden sparks, a crystal tea set appeared on the table.
00:26:20
Speaker 1: It was full of sweet, warm mint tea. As they gasped,
00:26:27
Speaker 1: another little pop of sparkles burst out of the table
00:26:32
Speaker 1: and a big sugar dusted cake appeared, covered in juicy
00:26:37
Speaker 1: red strawberries. It was a very special magical treat. The
00:26:44
Speaker 1: three friends enjoyed their tea and cake and said thank
00:26:49
Speaker 1: you to the magical palace. As they did, little fireworks
00:26:54
Speaker 1: fizzed across the ceiling. They giggled and said goodbye, passing
00:27:00
Speaker 1: through the big wooden door and continuing on their journey.
00:27:06
Speaker 1: As they walked on, the path rose higher through the
00:27:10
Speaker 1: trees up into the mountains, then the path ended. They
00:27:16
Speaker 1: had reached a huge canyon made of orange, dusty rock,
00:27:21
Speaker 1: which rose high in the air above them. Cuthbert scratched
00:27:27
Speaker 1: his head. He was good at climbing hills, but this
00:27:32
Speaker 1: was simply too steep. A glittering stream stretched along in
00:27:39
Speaker 1: front of the wall, heading down the hill and then
00:27:44
Speaker 1: curving around the canyon. The water was a brighter blue
00:27:49
Speaker 1: than Cuthbert had ever seen, and glowed as if made
00:27:53
Speaker 1: of moonlight. Cuthbert had a feeling in his heart. It
00:28:01
Speaker 1: told him that this stream must head to the blue town.
00:28:08
Speaker 1: Clove gulped. She didn't like getting her fur wet. She
00:28:14
Speaker 1: looked up stream, where a green bush grew over the water,
00:28:20
Speaker 1: or was it a bush? Looking closer, she saw that
00:28:25
Speaker 1: it wasn't a plant at all, but a boat made
00:28:29
Speaker 1: from woven palm fronds. It was bobbing there patiently, as
00:28:35
Speaker 1: if waiting for some one. They moved closer, laying in
00:28:41
Speaker 1: the boat with three shiny blue tickets. Cuthbert lowered his
00:28:47
Speaker 1: head towards them and Laylah scurried down, Landing in the boat.
00:28:54
Speaker 1: She picked up the tickets and gasped. One said, said Cuthbert,
00:29:01
Speaker 1: One said Clove, and one said, laylah. All the animals laughed.
00:29:10
Speaker 1: The Blue town was magical after all, and it was
00:29:15
Speaker 1: waiting for them. They all climbed carefully into the boat.
00:29:22
Speaker 1: Clove squeaked a little as the boat rocked each time
00:29:27
Speaker 1: Cuthbert placed each of his four legs aboard, but once
00:29:31
Speaker 1: they had settled and began drifting down the stream, she
00:29:36
Speaker 1: purred happily. They all smiled and watched the moonlight dancing
00:29:43
Speaker 1: on the water, pointing out the blue and silver fish
00:29:48
Speaker 1: that darted below. After a couple of long, soothing hours
00:29:56
Speaker 1: drifting along the bubbling stream, cuff Birds pointed one hoof
00:30:02
Speaker 1: into the distance. Clove clambered up onto his head to
00:30:08
Speaker 1: get a good view. There it was, the Blue Town.
00:30:15
Speaker 1: It was so bright and beautiful, with carefully painted houses
00:30:21
Speaker 1: in every shade of blue. A sparkling, glowing river drifted
00:30:29
Speaker 1: through the middle of town, and golden lanterns lit up
00:30:34
Speaker 1: every street. The animals soon arrived at the edge of town,
00:30:44
Speaker 1: where they climbed from the boat and stretched their limbs.
00:30:50
Speaker 1: What a long journey. The three friends were excited to explore,
00:30:57
Speaker 1: but soon realized how sleepy they were. As Cuthbert yawned
00:31:03
Speaker 1: a huge, long, yawn. They heard a twinkling sound and
00:31:09
Speaker 1: turned around to see a white, billowing tent appear behind them.
00:31:16
Speaker 1: It was full of soft, silver silk pillows and big,
00:31:22
Speaker 1: squishy blue blankets for them to snuggle into. Cuthbert, Clove,
00:31:31
Speaker 1: and Laylor crawled into the tent and each chose a
00:31:36
Speaker 1: comfy spot to cuddle up in. Before they could even
00:31:41
Speaker 1: wish one another good night, each of the animals was
00:31:46
Speaker 1: snoring peacefully. The next morning, Cuthbert, Clove, and Laylor explored
00:31:56
Speaker 1: their new home. A crowd of cats had woken them
00:32:01
Speaker 1: in the morning, meowing softly outside the tent. They emerged
00:32:08
Speaker 1: to the kind cats, calling out welcome and rubbing against
00:32:14
Speaker 1: them with their soft fur. They could tell that they
00:32:20
Speaker 1: would make lots of friends here. As they strolled through
00:32:27
Speaker 1: the streets, people patted Cuthbert on the head, tickled Clove
00:32:34
Speaker 1: behind her ears, and smiled at Layelah and complimented her
00:32:39
Speaker 1: beautiful colors. They were given delicious strinks of tea and
00:32:46
Speaker 1: saucers of cool water and milk wherever they went. Best
00:32:51
Speaker 1: of all, the rumors had all been true. The air
00:32:58
Speaker 1: was full of magic there. All the animals had to
00:33:02
Speaker 1: do was make a wish, and with a tinkling noise
00:33:07
Speaker 1: and burst of fairy dust, it would come true. Clove
00:33:13
Speaker 1: used her first wish to give Cuthbert a colorfully beaded
00:33:19
Speaker 1: pair of sandals to thank him for bringing them on
00:33:24
Speaker 1: this long journey. Cuthbert put them on his front feet,
00:33:30
Speaker 1: feeling warm and fuzzy in his heart since Clove had
00:33:35
Speaker 1: been so thoughtful towards him. Seeing Cuthbert with two feet
00:33:42
Speaker 1: left bare, Laylah closed her eyes and made her first wish.
00:33:49
Speaker 1: Too soon he had four jazzy shoes, and he felt
00:33:56
Speaker 1: like he could walk for miles and miles should he
00:34:00
Speaker 1: feel like it. That afternoon, Clove popped into the post
00:34:06
Speaker 1: office and sent a postcard to her friends in the city.
00:34:12
Speaker 1: She wrote that they couldn't wait for them to visit
00:34:16
Speaker 1: and meet their new friends. She dipped her paw in
00:34:21
Speaker 1: silver ink and stamped the card with her poor print
00:34:27
Speaker 1: before popping the card in a shiny blue letterbox. The
00:34:35
Speaker 1: animals were so happy to have made the moonlit journey
00:34:40
Speaker 1: to the Blue Town, and they could feel that they
00:34:45
Speaker 1: would have lots of adventures here. The three animals smiled
00:34:52
Speaker 1: at each other and carried on strolling along the blue
00:34:58
Speaker 1: sparkling river of their new home,
