Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to Cocoa Sleep, a podcast of

00:00:14

Speaker 1: original children spendtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime

00:00:20

Speaker 1: a dream. Finally, a long last about time too. I

00:00:27

Speaker 1: think I can hear some far off woofing and chuckling.

00:00:32

Speaker 1: I think any minute now I know exactly who's going

00:00:36

Speaker 1: to swagger into the room, wagging his long, swishy tail,

00:00:41

Speaker 1: a little drop of gravy on his whiskers, and a

00:00:44

Speaker 1: big wide grin all over his face. He's on his

00:00:49

Speaker 1: way to settle down by the crackling fire with his

00:00:52

Speaker 1: best friend, a busy little spaniel with the lightest of eyes,

00:00:57

Speaker 1: busiest of brains, the kindest of hearts. Yes, that's right,

00:01:04

Speaker 1: settle down into your bed, as we're about to meet

00:01:07

Speaker 1: up again with our wonderful friends, Hector and Sonny. Our

00:01:14

Speaker 1: bedtime story Tonight starts on a lazy afternoon as they

00:01:18

Speaker 1: listen to Sonny's owner reading them a mystery story about

00:01:22

Speaker 1: a clever detective. The dogs wish they could become detectives,

00:01:28

Speaker 1: and to their surprise, the magical door appears. Now will

00:01:35

Speaker 1: they stay by the warm fire or will they go

00:01:39

Speaker 1: through the door an enter a world where they are

00:01:42

Speaker 1: indeed Detectives. The title might have just given it away.

00:01:48

Speaker 1: Lie back and relax as I begin. Hector and Sonny

00:01:53

Speaker 1: Become Detectives by Jillian Rogerson. It was a lazy Sunday

00:02:05

Speaker 1: afternoon and two dogs called Hector and Sonny were lying

00:02:09

Speaker 1: on a rug in front of a flickering fire. They

00:02:12

Speaker 1: were at Sonny's house and listening to her owner reading

00:02:16

Speaker 1: from one of her favorite mystery books. Sonny's owner had

00:02:20

Speaker 1: a very soothing voice, and the dogs often fell asleep

00:02:24

Speaker 1: while listening to her stories, but not that day. The

00:02:29

Speaker 1: mystery happening within the book had them hooked, and they

00:02:32

Speaker 1: couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. Would

00:02:36

Speaker 1: the clever detective solve the mystery? If so, how Sonny's

00:02:43

Speaker 1: owner came to the end of a chapter, she closed

00:02:46

Speaker 1: the book and placed it on the table next to her.

00:02:49

Speaker 1: She smiled over at the resting dogs and told them

00:02:53

Speaker 1: she was going to make herself a cup of tea

00:02:55

Speaker 1: and wouldn't be long. She stood up and left the room. Hector,

00:03:02

Speaker 1: a friendly golden retriever, looked at Sonnie and said, I

00:03:08

Speaker 1: love mystery stories. I wonder how this one is going

00:03:13

Speaker 1: to end. Sonny was a cocker Spaniel with beautiful blue

00:03:19

Speaker 1: eyes that sometimes turned green and sometimes gray. She said,

00:03:26

Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear the ending, Hector, I wish

00:03:30

Speaker 1: weak are beef clever detective solving a mystery. Wouldn't that

00:03:34

Speaker 1: be amazing? Ah? She let out a wistful sigh and

00:03:41

Speaker 1: smiled softly. Hector's nose twitched. He sat up straight and

00:03:48

Speaker 1: sniffed the air. A familiar look came into his eyes.

00:03:54

Speaker 1: Sonny sat up and grinned at her friend, Hector, getting

00:04:00

Speaker 1: one of your feelings again? Are we about to go

00:04:05

Speaker 1: on another magical adventure? A slow smile spread across Hector's

00:04:12

Speaker 1: handsome face. He nodded and said, we certainly are. I

00:04:24

Speaker 1: don't know what kind of adventure yet, but it's going

00:04:29

Speaker 1: to happen very soon. Is he going to happen here?

00:04:36

Speaker 1: Sonny asked? Or do we need to go outside? If so,

00:04:42

Speaker 1: I can let out one of my special barks to

00:04:45

Speaker 1: let my owner know I want to go out for

00:04:48

Speaker 1: a walk. Hector was only half listening to his dear

00:04:53

Speaker 1: friend because he had spotted something unusual appearing on the wall.

00:04:59

Speaker 1: He his paw and said, Sonny, look. Sonny looked at

00:05:06

Speaker 1: where Hector had his attention. A new door had appeared

00:05:11

Speaker 1: right next to the living room door. It was silver

00:05:16

Speaker 1: and had a picture of Hector and Sonny on it.

00:05:20

Speaker 1: In the picture, the dogs were wearing trench coats and hats,

00:05:24

Speaker 1: just like the detective in the books war. Sonny gasped, Oh,

00:05:32

Speaker 1: it's a magical doorway. I wonder where it leads, and

00:05:39

Speaker 1: why do we look like that in the picture. She

00:05:44

Speaker 1: suddenly started laughing. Of course, it must be a door

00:05:49

Speaker 1: that leads to a magical world where we're actually detectives.

00:05:54

Speaker 1: It can't mean anything else, can it. Hector gave some

00:06:00

Speaker 1: admiring look and said he was impressed with her detective skills.

00:06:06

Speaker 1: Sonny said, thanks, Hector, are you ready to go on

00:06:11

Speaker 1: another adventure? Always? Hector replied with a grin. The world

00:06:19

Speaker 1: around them froze, and even the flames in the fire

00:06:24

Speaker 1: stopped in mid flicker. The dogs bounded over to the

00:06:29

Speaker 1: magical door. Hector opened it, and they stepped through the

00:06:33

Speaker 1: door and into another world, a world full of magic

00:06:37

Speaker 1: and wonder. They were inside an office. There were two

00:06:43

Speaker 1: large desks beneath a huge window, and behind the desks

00:06:48

Speaker 1: were chairs that looked the perfect eyes for two detective dogs.

00:06:54

Speaker 1: There was another door opposite the chairs, but it was

00:06:57

Speaker 1: a normal one and not at all magic. Framed photographs

00:07:03

Speaker 1: of Hector and Sonny were on the walls and showed

00:07:06

Speaker 1: them shaking paws with a variety of animals. A glass

00:07:11

Speaker 1: fronted fridge stood in the far corner and was filled

00:07:15

Speaker 1: with jugs of water and tasty snacks. In the other

00:07:20

Speaker 1: corner were two large cushions, ideal places to take a nap.

00:07:27

Speaker 1: There was also a coat stand where two dog sized

00:07:31

Speaker 1: trench coats were hanging and hats balanced on the top hooks.

00:07:38

Speaker 1: Sonny said, wow, Hector, look at this office. It must

00:07:46

Speaker 1: be ours. I wonder if those photos on the walls

00:07:52

Speaker 1: are of the animals we've helped. There are a lot

00:07:55

Speaker 1: of them. We must be very good detectives in this world.

00:08:02

Speaker 1: She walked over to the photos to get a better

00:08:04

Speaker 1: look at them. Hector ran towards the chairs and said,

00:08:10

Speaker 1: look at these, I wonder if they spin around. He

00:08:16

Speaker 1: leapt onto one of the chairs, put his paw on

00:08:19

Speaker 1: the desk, and gave himself a push. The chair began

00:08:23

Speaker 1: to spin around. Hector let out a whoop of delight.

00:08:29

Speaker 1: Sonny looked over at her spinning friend, and laughed. She

00:08:34

Speaker 1: ran over, jumped onto the other chair, and began to

00:08:37

Speaker 1: spin around too. At that very moment, the normal door

00:08:43

Speaker 1: in their office opened and their first client stepped through it.

00:08:49

Speaker 1: Hector was too busy spinning around to notice, but Sonny did.

00:08:55

Speaker 1: She brought herself to an abrupt stop and gave the

00:08:58

Speaker 1: client a small, embarrassed smile. When Hector still hadn't noticed

00:09:04

Speaker 1: their visitor, Sonny put her paw on his spinning chair

00:09:08

Speaker 1: and made it slow down. Hector finally came to a stop.

00:09:15

Speaker 1: He saw the client and let out an embarrassed chuckle.

00:09:19

Speaker 1: He said, sorry about that, we were just testing out

00:09:24

Speaker 1: the chairs. May we help you? In front of them

00:09:30

Speaker 1: stood an auburn furred puppy wearing denim shorts, an orange

00:09:35

Speaker 1: T shirt and a baseball hat. The puppy said, is

00:09:41

Speaker 1: this the Hector and Sonny Detective Agency. Hector immediately said, oh,

00:09:48

Speaker 1: I don't know. He looked at Sonny. She looked at him.

00:09:53

Speaker 1: Hector cleared his throat and said, yes, yes it is,

00:09:58

Speaker 1: and we Hector and Sonny. Can we help you with something?

00:10:06

Speaker 1: The puppy sighed, Oh, I don't know if my problem

00:10:11

Speaker 1: is too small for such important detectives like you two.

00:10:15

Speaker 1: I don't want to waste your time. Sonny jumped off

00:10:20

Speaker 1: her chair and walked over to the puppy. She pulled

00:10:24

Speaker 1: out a chair for him and asked him to sit down.

00:10:29

Speaker 1: Once he was seated, she said, no problem is too

00:10:33

Speaker 1: small for us. Why don't you tell us your name

00:10:37

Speaker 1: first and then what your problem is. She returned to

00:10:43

Speaker 1: her chair and waited for the puppy to speak. The

00:10:48

Speaker 1: puppy said, my name is Rufus, and this is my problem.

00:10:56

Speaker 1: He poured out a puzzle cube from his pocket. It

00:11:00

Speaker 1: had lots of mixed up colored squares on it. Rufus

00:11:04

Speaker 1: continued talking. I'm trying to put the same colors together,

00:11:11

Speaker 1: but I just can't do it. I keep the cube

00:11:15

Speaker 1: with me all the time, and I've spent the last

00:11:18

Speaker 1: few weeks trying to solve it. Whenever I get some

00:11:22

Speaker 1: spare time, I take my puzzle out and I have

00:11:24

Speaker 1: another go. Do you know how to solve this and

00:11:28

Speaker 1: can you show me how to do it please? Sonny

00:11:34

Speaker 1: slowly shook her head. She had seen the puzzle before,

00:11:39

Speaker 1: but didn't know how to solve it. Hector, however, knew

00:11:44

Speaker 1: what to do. He told Rufus that he'd seen the

00:11:48

Speaker 1: puzzle completed many times by some human friends of his,

00:11:53

Speaker 1: and they had shown Hector what to do. Hector had

00:11:59

Speaker 1: never tried to complete the puzzle himself, but he was

00:12:03

Speaker 1: sure it couldn't be that difficult. Hector moved over to

00:12:08

Speaker 1: Rufus and sat at his side. He took the cube

00:12:14

Speaker 1: and began to move the segments this way and that.

00:12:18

Speaker 1: Rufus watched his every move with great interest. Much to

00:12:25

Speaker 1: Hector's relief, he completed the puzzle in less than four minutes.

00:12:30

Speaker 1: Rufus was astonished and asked Hector to show him the

00:12:36

Speaker 1: moves again. Hector happily did so until the puppy was

00:12:41

Speaker 1: certain he would remember them. After solving the puzzle himself

00:12:46

Speaker 1: a few times, the happy puppy was ready to leave

00:12:50

Speaker 1: the office. He thanked the kind dogs and walked over

00:12:55

Speaker 1: to the door. He put his little paw on the handle,

00:12:59

Speaker 1: but then hesitated. Sonnie instinctively knew there was something else

00:13:06

Speaker 1: on his mind. She went over to Rufus and softly

00:13:12

Speaker 1: asked if he needed help with anything else. Rufus turned

00:13:17

Speaker 1: his puppy eyes to her and said, I've lost my

00:13:23

Speaker 1: Mum's best socks somewhere in the back garden. I love

00:13:28

Speaker 1: hiding socks in the garden and I always remember where

00:13:32

Speaker 1: I put them, but not this time. I can't even

00:13:37

Speaker 1: remember when I lost them. Mum said it was okay,

00:13:43

Speaker 1: and that she has plenty of other socks, but I

00:13:47

Speaker 1: would really like to find them. Could you help me

00:13:52

Speaker 1: with that. Sonny broke into a wide smile and told

00:13:59

Speaker 1: Rufus she was an expert when it came to finding

00:14:04

Speaker 1: lost socks and hiding them too when needed. She asked

00:14:10

Speaker 1: if it was okay for them to visit Rufus's home

00:14:14

Speaker 1: and searched the back garden. Rufus smiled and said yes,

00:14:19

Speaker 1: and added that his home wasn't far away. Hector and

00:14:24

Speaker 1: Sonny left their offices with their client. It was too

00:14:29

Speaker 1: warm to wear their trench coats, but they popped their

00:14:32

Speaker 1: hats on and felt very much like professional detectives. As

00:14:38

Speaker 1: they walked along the pavement towards Rufus's home, Hector noticed

00:14:44

Speaker 1: a double decker bus driving past. There was an advertising

00:14:49

Speaker 1: poster on the side of it. Hector grinned and pointed

00:14:54

Speaker 1: it out to Sonny. Sonny laughed when she saw it.

00:14:58

Speaker 1: It was an advertisement for their detective agency, and their

00:15:02

Speaker 1: smiling faces looked out at them from the poster as

00:15:06

Speaker 1: the bus drove on by. I soon arrived at Rufus's house.

00:15:13

Speaker 1: He quickly introduced Sonnie and Hector to his mom, who

00:15:17

Speaker 1: was pruning some roses in the back garden. When she

00:15:22

Speaker 1: found out why they were there, she said, Oh, really,

00:15:27

Speaker 1: there's no need to find my socks. I have plenty more.

00:15:33

Speaker 1: Sonny replied by saying she knew how important socks were

00:15:38

Speaker 1: and that finding a lost pair shouldn't take her that long. Hopefully.

00:15:45

Speaker 1: Hector kindly told Rufus and his mom to stand to

00:15:49

Speaker 1: one side and let Sonny do her thing. Sonny stood

00:15:55

Speaker 1: at the center of the garden carefully looked around it.

00:16:02

Speaker 1: There were some places that weren't at all suitable for

00:16:06

Speaker 1: hiding things in, and some places that were perfect. She

00:16:12

Speaker 1: slowly walked around the garden and examined those places where

00:16:16

Speaker 1: a pair of socks might be hidden. Alas she didn't

00:16:21

Speaker 1: find anything, then she remembered something Rufus had said in

00:16:28

Speaker 1: their office earlier. She strolled around the garden again, and

00:16:34

Speaker 1: by using all of her new detective skills, she worked

00:16:39

Speaker 1: out where the missing socks might possibly be Sonny walked

00:16:45

Speaker 1: over to a tree and looked at the grass around

00:16:49

Speaker 1: the bottom of it. She ran her pow through the

00:16:53

Speaker 1: longest part of the grass. Ahh, there was something soft

00:17:00

Speaker 1: and wooly there. She looked closer, moved the grass to

00:17:06

Speaker 1: one side and found a pair of pink socks. She

00:17:11

Speaker 1: picked them up and said, are these the missing socks?

00:17:17

Speaker 1: Rufus's mum clapped her paws in delight and said yes.

00:17:23

Speaker 1: Rufus was astounded and asked Sonny how she knew where

00:17:28

Speaker 1: to look. Sonny waved her poor the patch of flattened

00:17:33

Speaker 1: grass in front of the tree. She said, this place

00:17:39

Speaker 1: is in a shady area and is the perfect place

00:17:43

Speaker 1: for a puppy to sit if he's trying to solve

00:17:46

Speaker 1: a cube shaped puzzle. You told us that you've been

00:17:51

Speaker 1: trying to solve the puzzle for weeks. Did you sometimes

00:17:56

Speaker 1: sit under this tree whilst doing that? Rufus nodded and

00:18:03

Speaker 1: explained he had sat there every day trying to solve

00:18:07

Speaker 1: the puzzle. Sonny smiled and continued, explaining, the grass where

00:18:15

Speaker 1: you've been sitting has become flattened, but the grass behind

00:18:20

Speaker 1: it where I found the socks, is much longer. I

00:18:25

Speaker 1: suspect you came out here a few weeks ago with

00:18:29

Speaker 1: your mum's socks, planning to hide them. But before you

00:18:34

Speaker 1: could do that, you started to think about your puzzle again,

00:18:39

Speaker 1: so you sat down, put the socks behind you, and

00:18:44

Speaker 1: focused all your attention on your puzzle. You completely forgot

00:18:50

Speaker 1: about the socks until you realized they were missing some

00:18:54

Speaker 1: time later, but by then the grass had grown and

00:19:00

Speaker 1: covered up the socks. Am I right? Rufus's eyes widen.

00:19:08

Speaker 1: He said, yes, you are, That's exactly what happened. I

00:19:15

Speaker 1: remember now. I was going to hide the socks in

00:19:20

Speaker 1: the branches of that tree, because it's one of my

00:19:23

Speaker 1: favorite places to hide things. But then I sat down

00:19:28

Speaker 1: and thought i'd try to solve my puzzle again. When

00:19:32

Speaker 1: I realized I'd lost the socks, I looked in all

00:19:36

Speaker 1: my usual hiding places, but under the tree isn't one

00:19:40

Speaker 1: of them, so I never looked there. He smiled at

00:19:45

Speaker 1: Sonnie and said she was an amazing detective. Hector and

00:19:51

Speaker 1: Rufus's mum agreed. Sonnie gave them a shy smile and

00:19:58

Speaker 1: said it was nothing. She gave the socks to Rufus,

00:20:02

Speaker 1: who then gave them to his mom, who then said

00:20:06

Speaker 1: she would give them a wash. Sonny said, Hector and

00:20:13

Speaker 1: I will be on our way now. There might be

00:20:16

Speaker 1: other clients who need our help. Rufus and his mom

00:20:21

Speaker 1: thanked the detective duo. Hector and Sonny said good bye

00:20:27

Speaker 1: and walked out of their garden. They headed back along

00:20:32

Speaker 1: the pavement towards their office. They hadn't got very far

00:20:37

Speaker 1: when they were stopped by a monkey wearing a red

00:20:40

Speaker 1: jumpsuit and yellow shoes. He said hello to the dogs

00:20:45

Speaker 1: and asked if they were Hector and Sonny from the

00:20:48

Speaker 1: famous detective agency. The dogs nodded and asked if they

00:20:53

Speaker 1: could help the monkey. The monkey sighed and said he

00:20:58

Speaker 1: wasn't sure if he this problem was too small for

00:21:02

Speaker 1: the dogs. Sonny said no problem was too small for them.

00:21:08

Speaker 1: She asked for the monkey's name and if he could

00:21:11

Speaker 1: give them more details about his problem. The monkey told

00:21:17

Speaker 1: them he was called Mateo, and then he explained, I've

00:21:22

Speaker 1: got a five hundred piece jigsaw puzzle a home, but

00:21:27

Speaker 1: I accidentally throughout the top part of the box which

00:21:32

Speaker 1: had a picture on it, and now I can't remember

00:21:36

Speaker 1: what the picture was off. I think it was a forest,

00:21:41

Speaker 1: but I'm not certain. Can you help me put the

00:21:47

Speaker 1: jigsaw puzzle together? Please? Have we got time to do that?

00:21:53

Speaker 1: Hector said they had plenty of time and asked if

00:21:57

Speaker 1: Mateo could take them to his home. The Monkey's face

00:22:02

Speaker 1: filled with joy and he said yes, he could do that.

00:22:08

Speaker 1: He skipped along the pavement, swinging his arms happily. Hector

00:22:14

Speaker 1: and Sonny followed him. They soon arrived at Matteo's tree house,

00:22:19

Speaker 1: where he lived with his family. Hector and Sonny looked

00:22:24

Speaker 1: up at the tall treehouse and wondered how they were

00:22:28

Speaker 1: going to climb it. They were mightily relieved when Mateo

00:22:33

Speaker 1: told them there was a lift built into the tree

00:22:36

Speaker 1: trunk and it was big enough for them all to

00:22:38

Speaker 1: fit into. Upwards, they went and soon stepped out onto

00:22:45

Speaker 1: a wooden porch that surrounded the cozy treehouse. Mateo took

00:22:51

Speaker 1: them inside and introduced them to his parents, his brother,

00:22:56

Speaker 1: and his auntie. Matteo's family were glad to see Hector

00:23:01

Speaker 1: and Sonny because they had all tried to put the

00:23:04

Speaker 1: jigsaw puzzle together, but hadn't been able to manage it,

00:23:08

Speaker 1: no matter how hard they had tried. Hector and Sonny

00:23:14

Speaker 1: shared a concerned look. They were thinking the same thing.

00:23:20

Speaker 1: They really hoped they would be able to put the

00:23:23

Speaker 1: jigsaw puzzle together. Mateo took the dogs into the living

00:23:28

Speaker 1: room and over to a table that was covered in

00:23:31

Speaker 1: jigsaw pieces. Hector and Sonny shared another concerned look. There

00:23:39

Speaker 1: were a lot of pieces. Matteo knelt at the side

00:23:45

Speaker 1: of the table and pointed to a small section of

00:23:49

Speaker 1: the puzzle that had been completed. He proudly said, look,

00:23:56

Speaker 1: I managed to do that part of the puzzle and

00:24:00

Speaker 1: put together a picture of a koala. I think he's

00:24:06

Speaker 1: standing on a porch, but I don't think he lives

00:24:11

Speaker 1: in a tree house like me. Sonny and Hector peered

00:24:17

Speaker 1: at the smiling image of the little koala. They looked

00:24:21

Speaker 1: at each other and started laughing. They told Matteo they

00:24:26

Speaker 1: knew who the koala was. He was called Coco, and

00:24:31

Speaker 1: they had met him a few months ago. They had

00:24:34

Speaker 1: been to his house too, and knew what it looked like.

00:24:39

Speaker 1: Matteo grinned and let out a cheer. The dog detectives

00:24:46

Speaker 1: sat on either side of the monkey and looked closer

00:24:50

Speaker 1: at the puzzle pieces. They described Coco's house, so that

00:24:55

Speaker 1: Matteo knew what to look out for With great concentration,

00:25:02

Speaker 1: the dogs and the monkey found the correct pieces that

00:25:06

Speaker 1: made up Coco's cabin and put them together. They soon

00:25:12

Speaker 1: discovered that Coco's family were also in the picture and

00:25:17

Speaker 1: were standing at Coco's side. They continued working on the

00:25:23

Speaker 1: jigsaw and slowly began to put the rest of it together.

00:25:29

Speaker 1: As they worked, Hector and Sonny told Matteo about their

00:25:34

Speaker 1: visit to the place where Coco lived, a magical place

00:25:39

Speaker 1: called Sleepy Forest. When the puzzle had been completed, the

00:25:46

Speaker 1: two dogs and the monkey stood up and took a

00:25:50

Speaker 1: good look at it. The picture showed the happy Koala

00:25:55

Speaker 1: family standing on the porch of their cabin in the

00:25:59

Speaker 1: middle of Sleepy Forest. In the background were some of

00:26:05

Speaker 1: Koco's friends, including a sleepy sloth in a tree and

00:26:10

Speaker 1: a rainbow colored chameleon resting on a rock. Matteo's family

00:26:17

Speaker 1: came into the living room and admired the completed puzzle.

00:26:23

Speaker 1: They said Hector and Sonny were amazing detectives and thanked

00:26:28

Speaker 1: them for their help. The dogs said they were more

00:26:32

Speaker 1: than welcome and that it had been fun putting the

00:26:35

Speaker 1: puzzle together. They said goodbye and returned to the ground.

00:26:40

Speaker 1: Using the lift, Hector and Sonny walked along the pavement

00:26:46

Speaker 1: again in the direction of their office. Along the way,

00:26:52

Speaker 1: other animals stopped them and asked for their help. Hector

00:26:57

Speaker 1: and Sonny said yes to all of them and tried

00:27:01

Speaker 1: their best to solve whatever mystery arose. They helped a

00:27:06

Speaker 1: gray cat called nick Knack, who had lost her favorite collar.

00:27:11

Speaker 1: After visiting her house and finding out what she'd done

00:27:15

Speaker 1: that day, Hector discovered that nick Knack could put her

00:27:19

Speaker 1: collar in the fridge by mistake, and that she'd put

00:27:23

Speaker 1: the milk from the fridge on top of her jewelry box.

00:27:28

Speaker 1: Nick Knack shook her head at herself and said, ah,

00:27:33

Speaker 1: I am so sorry about that. I've never done anything

00:27:39

Speaker 1: like that before. It must be because i haven't slept

00:27:44

Speaker 1: well these last few nights and I'm not thinking straight.

00:27:51

Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny always had a good night's sleep and

00:27:55

Speaker 1: offered the cats and bedtime tips and said snuggling down

00:27:59

Speaker 1: in their beds and listening to a bedtime story always

00:28:04

Speaker 1: helped them fall asleep. Nick Knack said she would try

00:28:09

Speaker 1: all of those things and thanked the dogs. The cat yawned.

00:28:17

Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny did too. The dogs said good bye

00:28:22

Speaker 1: and went on their way. The next animal who needed

00:28:27

Speaker 1: their help was an elephant called Eliana. She had lost

00:28:31

Speaker 1: her straw hat somewhere in town, but couldn't remember where

00:28:35

Speaker 1: she'd last had it. It was her favorite hat and

00:28:39

Speaker 1: had been a present from her mum. Once again, Hector

00:28:45

Speaker 1: asked their client about her day and what she had

00:28:48

Speaker 1: been doing. Ellianna couldn't remember that either, so Sonny suggested

00:28:55

Speaker 1: they started her house and retrace her steps. Sonny's plan worked,

00:29:02

Speaker 1: and after retracing Elliana's journey that day, they found her

00:29:07

Speaker 1: straw hat at the swimming pool. She'd taken it off

00:29:11

Speaker 1: to have a dip in the water because she didn't

00:29:14

Speaker 1: want to get it wet. With her hat back on

00:29:18

Speaker 1: her head, Eliana thanked the dogs and said, I am

00:29:24

Speaker 1: sorry about that. I've never lost my hat before, and

00:29:30

Speaker 1: I'm usually very good at remembering where I've been. It

00:29:35

Speaker 1: must be because i haven't slept very well recently and

00:29:41

Speaker 1: I'm not thinking straight. Sonny and Hector said she wasn't

00:29:47

Speaker 1: the only one who wasn't sleeping well, and they shared

00:29:50

Speaker 1: their sleeping tips again. Eliana smiled and said she would

00:29:56

Speaker 1: try those things that very night. Eleana yawned. Hector and

00:30:04

Speaker 1: Sonny did too. The detective dogs made it back to

00:30:10

Speaker 1: their office building without anyone else needing their help. The

00:30:15

Speaker 1: tired friends yawned all the way back, and when they

00:30:20

Speaker 1: entered their office, they agreed it was time to go

00:30:24

Speaker 1: back to Sonny's house. They hung their detective hats on

00:30:29

Speaker 1: the stand, took one last look at their office, and

00:30:35

Speaker 1: walked through the magical silver door and back into their

00:30:40

Speaker 1: own world. As soon as they were back in Sonny's

00:30:45

Speaker 1: living room, the silver door disappeared and time unfroze. The

00:30:53

Speaker 1: sleepy dogs settled down on the soft rug in front

00:30:58

Speaker 1: of the flickering fire. Sonny said, that was a wonderful adventure.

00:31:08

Speaker 1: I loved being a detective me too. Hector agreed, Maybe

00:31:17

Speaker 1: we'll go back to our office again in the future

00:31:21

Speaker 1: and solve more mysteries. Sonny said that was a lovely thought.

00:31:29

Speaker 1: She smiled at her best friend, closed her eyes and

00:31:34

Speaker 1: fell asleep. Hector closed his eyes and fell asleep too.

00:31:42

Speaker 1: Sonny's owner came into the room carrying a mug of tea.

00:31:47

Speaker 1: She looked at the sleeping dogs in surprise. They never

00:31:52

Speaker 1: fell asleep. When she was reading one of her mystery

00:31:55

Speaker 1: stories to them, and always stayed awake until she reached

00:32:00

Speaker 1: the end, how mysterious. She smiled softly at Hector and

00:32:08

Speaker 1: Sonny and returned to her chair. She was happy to

00:32:14

Speaker 1: let sleeping dogs lie. She read her book for a

00:32:18

Speaker 1: while longer, but the soft snores coming from the dreaming

00:32:23

Speaker 1: dogs made her feel so delightfully tired. She put her

00:32:30

Speaker 1: book down, leaned back in the chair, and gently drifted

00:32:39

Speaker 1: into a peaceful sleep.
