Speaker 1: Hello and welcome back to Kuala Moon, a podcast of
00:00:14
Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime
00:00:20
Speaker 1: a dream. Oh it isn't long now until Christmas. I
00:00:26
Speaker 1: love the festive wind up to the big event, and
00:00:28
Speaker 1: at sleep HQ we take it extremely seriously. Everyone needs
00:00:33
Speaker 1: plenty of downtime and good sleep to ensure they're on
00:00:35
Speaker 1: tiptop form for all the festive celebrating and excitement. So
00:00:40
Speaker 1: we have a variety of wonderful Christmasy stories to help
00:00:44
Speaker 1: you drift off whenever it's bedtime or even if you're
00:00:47
Speaker 1: just trying to catch a quick nap. Our first Christmasy
00:00:51
Speaker 1: Tale features your number one most requested canine characters and
00:00:57
Speaker 1: it actually begins on a frosty Christmas. Yes, we're soon
00:01:02
Speaker 1: going to meet up with our good friends Hector and
00:01:05
Speaker 1: Sonny again. It's cold and the frosty trees and grass
00:01:10
Speaker 1: are twinkling in the dusty light as two dogs stroll
00:01:14
Speaker 1: towards the park with their owners. At the park, the
00:01:18
Speaker 1: dog see a silver ball ball rolling across the grass,
00:01:22
Speaker 1: and when they follow it, they find a very special
00:01:25
Speaker 1: person who needs their help. This is Hector and Sonny
00:01:29
Speaker 1: help Santa Claus by Gillian Rogerson. On a frosty morning
00:01:42
Speaker 1: in December, a golden retriever by the name of Hector
00:01:46
Speaker 1: was on his way to the park with his owner.
00:01:49
Speaker 1: They were going to stop at a house along the
00:01:51
Speaker 1: way and collect Hector's best friend, a cocker Spaniel called Sonny.
00:01:56
Speaker 1: The dogs were the very best of friends and had
00:01:58
Speaker 1: been on many magical advents inches together. Whenever Hector thought
00:02:02
Speaker 1: about Sonny, his heart danced with joy. Hector and his
00:02:08
Speaker 1: owner soon arrived at Sonny's house. She was standing with
00:02:12
Speaker 1: her owner outside their front door. When Sonny saw Hector.
00:02:16
Speaker 1: She jigged happily from side to side and barked out
00:02:20
Speaker 1: a loud hello. Hector barked back and grinned at her.
00:02:28
Speaker 1: Sonny and her owner walked along the garden path and
00:02:30
Speaker 1: out of the gate. The owners said hello to each
00:02:34
Speaker 1: other and then strolled along the path. The dog's owners
00:02:39
Speaker 1: fell into conversation and talked about the weather and how
00:02:42
Speaker 1: they might be snow. Later, Sonny walked to Hector's side.
00:02:48
Speaker 1: She smiled at him and said, Merry Christmas, Hector, Merry Christmas,
00:02:54
Speaker 1: do you too, Sonny. Hector grinned at her, his grin
00:02:59
Speaker 1: face and was replaced by a THOUGHTFULO that Sonny knew well.
00:03:05
Speaker 1: Hector often had very deep thoughts, and she waited patiently
00:03:10
Speaker 1: to hear what his latest one was. Hector said, I've
00:03:17
Speaker 1: been thinking about this Christmas thing, Sonny, and I know
00:03:21
Speaker 1: Father Christmas delivers gifts to children around the world, but
00:03:26
Speaker 1: do you think he delivers presents to dogs too? Also?
00:03:31
Speaker 1: Do you think he has a dog with his own?
00:03:35
Speaker 1: Sonny said she didn't know, but thought those were interesting questions.
00:03:40
Speaker 1: Maybe we'll find out the answer someday, she said, with
00:03:44
Speaker 1: a wise look in his beautiful dark eyes. Hector said, Sonny,
00:03:51
Speaker 1: I've got a feeling that we might find out the
00:03:54
Speaker 1: answers very soon. Can you sense something special in the air.
00:04:03
Speaker 1: Sonny sniffed the chilly air and said, I can sense
00:04:08
Speaker 1: that snow is on the way. Is that what you mean?
00:04:12
Speaker 1: Hector shook his head. No, not the snow, but I
00:04:16
Speaker 1: can smile that too. It's a magical feeling, one I've
00:04:21
Speaker 1: had before, and I think it means we're going on
00:04:27
Speaker 1: another adventure soon. Sonny chuckled in delight. Another adventure on
00:04:35
Speaker 1: Christmas Eve? How exciting. She did a little dance from
00:04:40
Speaker 1: side to side Hector danced too. Their owners looked down
00:04:46
Speaker 1: at the dancing dogs, shared a look of confusion, and
00:04:49
Speaker 1: then carried on talking about the weather. A few minutes later,
00:04:54
Speaker 1: they reached the park and began to walk along the
00:04:58
Speaker 1: meandering path. The bare trees were covered in a light
00:05:03
Speaker 1: layer of sparkling frost. A delicate lacework of frozen mist
00:05:08
Speaker 1: lay on the grass and twinkled brightly in the sun.
00:05:13
Speaker 1: Sonny whispered to Hector, I can definitely feel the magic
00:05:20
Speaker 1: in the air now. Hector smiled at her. The group
00:05:25
Speaker 1: walked along the path and towards a cafe that was
00:05:28
Speaker 1: next to a lake. Some tables and chairs were set
00:05:32
Speaker 1: up outside the cafe, and outdoor heaters had been placed
00:05:35
Speaker 1: near them. When they reached the cafe, Sonny's owner went
00:05:39
Speaker 1: inside and returned shortly with two mugs of hot chocolate
00:05:44
Speaker 1: for herself and Hector's owner. The friendly woman who ran
00:05:49
Speaker 1: the cafe came out with two bowls of water for
00:05:52
Speaker 1: the dogs. The bowls had pictures of dancing gingerbread people
00:05:58
Speaker 1: on them. She put the balls on the ground and
00:06:02
Speaker 1: gave Hector and Sonny a big smile. The dogs smiled
00:06:06
Speaker 1: back at her and barked out, thank you. Hector and
00:06:12
Speaker 1: Sonny's owners sat down with their mugs of hot chocolate
00:06:15
Speaker 1: cupped in their gloved hands. Steam rose from the mugs
00:06:20
Speaker 1: and swirled in the cold air. The dogs had a
00:06:24
Speaker 1: quick drink of water and then looked around at the
00:06:28
Speaker 1: other visitors to the park. There were plenty of dogs
00:06:32
Speaker 1: who they knew, and Hector said he should go and
00:06:35
Speaker 1: say hello to them all. He asked Sonny if she
00:06:38
Speaker 1: wanted to go with him, but Sonny wasn't listening to Hector.
00:06:44
Speaker 1: She was staring at something. There was a puzzled look
00:06:48
Speaker 1: on her face. Hector soon saw what Sonny was looking at.
00:06:54
Speaker 1: He frowned and said, is that a silver ball rolling
00:07:01
Speaker 1: across the grass over there? Sonny replied, I don't think
00:07:07
Speaker 1: it's a ball. It looks like one of the Christmas
00:07:11
Speaker 1: ball balls that hang on my tree at home. Can
00:07:14
Speaker 1: you hear that noise? Hector? It sounds like jingle bells,
00:07:21
Speaker 1: and it's coming from behind that tree near the bable.
00:07:25
Speaker 1: Shall we go over and investigate? Hector said yes, and
00:07:30
Speaker 1: the dogs jogged towards the silver ball ball. It stopped
00:07:34
Speaker 1: rolling and came to a stop on the sparkling grass.
00:07:38
Speaker 1: A silver furred squirrel popped out from behind the tree.
00:07:43
Speaker 1: He was called Sydney, and the dogs had met him
00:07:46
Speaker 1: many times before. Sydney scampered over to them and wished
00:07:51
Speaker 1: them a merry Christmas. The dogs returned his greeting with
00:07:56
Speaker 1: a familiar twinkle in his eye. Sydney said, would you
00:08:02
Speaker 1: like to go on another magical adventure? I have a
00:08:07
Speaker 1: friend who needs your help. The dogs nodded eagerly and
00:08:13
Speaker 1: followed the squirrel as he scampered back to the tree
00:08:16
Speaker 1: and went around it. When the dogs jogged around the tree,
00:08:22
Speaker 1: they were astonished to see Santa Claus standing there. He
00:08:27
Speaker 1: was dressed in a bright red coat which was edged
00:08:31
Speaker 1: in white. His trousers were bright red too, and his
00:08:35
Speaker 1: black boots gleamed. Santa's beard was thick and fluffy, and
00:08:41
Speaker 1: merriment danced in his eyes. Sydney stood at Santa's side
00:08:47
Speaker 1: and grinned at the dogs. Santa let out a cheerful
00:08:53
Speaker 1: ho ho ho, and waved to Hector and Sonny. Hector
00:08:59
Speaker 1: and Sonny waved back, somewhat shyly. Santa Claus walked over
00:09:06
Speaker 1: to the dogs and knelt at their side. His voice
00:09:11
Speaker 1: was deep and calming, as he said, follow there, you two.
00:09:17
Speaker 1: Sydney has told me all about you and the adventures
00:09:21
Speaker 1: you've been on. It's an absolute pleasure to meet you,
00:09:27
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny. Hector and Sonny gave him bashful smiles.
00:09:34
Speaker 1: Santa smiled warmly and continued talking. You might know that
00:09:41
Speaker 1: I deliver gifts to the children of the world, but
00:09:44
Speaker 1: did you know that I also deliver gifts to dogs
00:09:49
Speaker 1: around the world. Sonny stared wide eyed at Santa and
00:09:55
Speaker 1: said Hector had been wondering about that very thing earlier on.
00:10:02
Speaker 1: Santa said, oh, really, what a lovely coincidence. I have
00:10:11
Speaker 1: a pet dog called Bernie, and he helps me deliver
00:10:15
Speaker 1: the presence to the dogs. But we've got a lot
00:10:19
Speaker 1: of places to visit to night, and Bernie said he
00:10:22
Speaker 1: could do with some extra help, and that's why I've
00:10:26
Speaker 1: stopped here. Sydney is a good friend of mine and
00:10:31
Speaker 1: he's helped me with many things over the years. And
00:10:35
Speaker 1: as soon as he mentioned you two, I knew you'd
00:10:40
Speaker 1: be the perfect dogs to assist me. Hector, Sonny, can
00:10:46
Speaker 1: you help me? Sonny spoke for them both and said,
00:10:53
Speaker 1: we would love to help you. Santa stroked Sannie's head
00:11:01
Speaker 1: thank you. He stroked Hector's head too, and thank you
00:11:07
Speaker 1: as well. The presents are still in the workshops having
00:11:12
Speaker 1: some final checks, so we need to go there first
00:11:16
Speaker 1: to collect them. Hector asked how they would get to
00:11:21
Speaker 1: his workshops and had Santa driven to the park. Santa
00:11:27
Speaker 1: straightened up and chuckled. His tummy wobbled like a bowl
00:11:31
Speaker 1: full of jelly. He said, I flew here in my sleigh.
00:11:40
Speaker 1: Let me reveal it to you. He waved his gloved
00:11:44
Speaker 1: hand in the air. The noise of jingle bells sounded
00:11:50
Speaker 1: out again, and a beautiful red sleigh appeared behind Santa.
00:11:56
Speaker 1: Six magnificent reindeer were fast and to the sleigh, with
00:12:01
Speaker 1: silver rains. On the reins were dozens of tiny bells
00:12:06
Speaker 1: that jingled merrily. A huge Saint Bernard dog was sitting
00:12:12
Speaker 1: inside the sleigh, and there was a small wooden barrel
00:12:16
Speaker 1: tied loosely around his neck. Hector and Sonny's mouths fell
00:12:24
Speaker 1: open as they gazed at the amazing sleigh, the reindeer,
00:12:30
Speaker 1: and the friendly dog who was now waving to them.
00:12:34
Speaker 1: They didn't know quite where to focus their attention. Santa
00:12:41
Speaker 1: saw their astonished expressions and suggested they say hello to
00:12:46
Speaker 1: the reindeer first, and then say hello to Bernie. Sydney.
00:12:51
Speaker 1: The squirrel raised his pow and said, there's one thing
00:12:56
Speaker 1: we need to do before that, Santa. We need to
00:13:00
Speaker 1: freeze time. Otherwise the good people of this park will
00:13:04
Speaker 1: be wondering over soon to admire your slay. Sydney clicked
00:13:10
Speaker 1: his little fingers and a little ring of sleigh bells
00:13:14
Speaker 1: appeared in his paw. He shook them three times. The
00:13:20
Speaker 1: world around them froze in time. Hector and Sonny looked
00:13:26
Speaker 1: over at their owners sitting outside the cafe. They had
00:13:32
Speaker 1: frozen in time too, and even the steam rising from
00:13:37
Speaker 1: their mugs had become still. Sydney made the bells vanish.
00:13:44
Speaker 1: He told the dogs that when they wanted to return home,
00:13:48
Speaker 1: they didn't need to bark three times as they usually did,
00:13:53
Speaker 1: but to say Merry Christmas three times instead. Sydney waved
00:13:59
Speaker 1: good bye and scampered away. Santa took the dogs over
00:14:05
Speaker 1: to the reindeer and introduced them. This is Dasher, Dancer, Prancer,
00:14:13
Speaker 1: and Vixen, and on the other side are Comet, Cupid,
00:14:19
Speaker 1: Donner and Blitzen. Hector and Sonny nodded hello to each reindeer.
00:14:26
Speaker 1: They had never seen reindeer before, except on the television
00:14:30
Speaker 1: or in pictures, and the animals were more magnificent than
00:14:35
Speaker 1: they ever could have imagined. Next, Santa introduced them to Bernie.
00:14:42
Speaker 1: Bernie gazed at the dogs with eyes full of kindness
00:14:46
Speaker 1: and warmth. Hector and Sonny instantly felt a connection to him,
00:14:53
Speaker 1: as though he was a friend they had been waiting
00:14:56
Speaker 1: to meet. Bernie said, it's wonderful to meet you, Hector
00:15:02
Speaker 1: and Sonny, and I'm so glad you're helping us on
00:15:06
Speaker 1: this beautiful Christmas Eve. Won't you sit beside me? Tell me,
00:15:14
Speaker 1: do you two like gravy? I've got some in this
00:15:18
Speaker 1: barrel around my neck, and there's plenty to share. I
00:15:23
Speaker 1: never leave home without my barrel of gravy. At the
00:15:28
Speaker 1: mention of gravy, Sonny and Hector leapt into the sleigh
00:15:33
Speaker 1: in a flash. They settled down on either side of
00:15:37
Speaker 1: the friendly Saint Bernard dog. A lovelier aroama surrounded Bernie,
00:15:43
Speaker 1: and it reminded the dogs of fun times filled with
00:15:47
Speaker 1: laughter and love. It made them feel all warm and
00:15:52
Speaker 1: happy inside. Santa got into the sleigh and picked up
00:15:59
Speaker 1: the silver rain. He called out the names of the
00:16:03
Speaker 1: reindeer and told them to head back home to the
00:16:06
Speaker 1: North Pole. The sleigh rose smoothly from the frosty grass
00:16:13
Speaker 1: and soared upwards over the park they flew. Hector and
00:16:20
Speaker 1: Sonny took another glance at their owners sitting outside the cafe,
00:16:27
Speaker 1: and even though they were frozen in time, the dogs
00:16:30
Speaker 1: waved goodbye to them anyway. Santa flew the sleigh high
00:16:37
Speaker 1: above the town and over the countryside. Soon they were
00:16:42
Speaker 1: soaring above the sea. As they continued on their journey,
00:16:48
Speaker 1: Bernie gave Hector and Sunny a serving of the hot gravy.
00:16:54
Speaker 1: The dogs said it was the most delicious gravy they
00:16:58
Speaker 1: had ever ever had. Sonny added, it tastes like magic
00:17:07
Speaker 1: and laughter and fun and cuddles. She let out a
00:17:14
Speaker 1: cute giggle if you know what I mean. Hector said
00:17:20
Speaker 1: he did know what she meant, and he completely agreed.
00:17:26
Speaker 1: Very soon the sleigh headed towards a land covered in snow.
00:17:32
Speaker 1: Bernie said to the dogs, this is the North Pole.
00:17:37
Speaker 1: This is where Santa and I live with Missus Claws
00:17:41
Speaker 1: and the elves. You'll get to meet them soon enough.
00:17:46
Speaker 1: Missus Plaws loves to make a fuss over visitors. Hector
00:17:52
Speaker 1: said he didn't mind at all, because he liked being
00:17:56
Speaker 1: fussed over. Santa brought the sleigh to a smooth stop
00:18:02
Speaker 1: outside a house that looked like it had been made
00:18:06
Speaker 1: out of gingerbread. It smelled like gingerbread too. Twinkling fairy
00:18:12
Speaker 1: lights were strewn across the roof of the house and
00:18:16
Speaker 1: around the windows, giving it an enchanted feel. Clusters of
00:18:22
Speaker 1: snow covered trees stood at either side of the house,
00:18:25
Speaker 1: and behind them were some bright red buildings that were
00:18:29
Speaker 1: festooned in fairy lights. Bernie told the dogs that those
00:18:34
Speaker 1: buildings were the workshops, and that's where they would be
00:18:37
Speaker 1: going first. At that moment, the door to the gingerbread
00:18:43
Speaker 1: house opened and a woman with rosy red cheeks hastened out.
00:18:49
Speaker 1: Her long red dress matched the outfit that Santa was wearing,
00:18:53
Speaker 1: as though it had been cut from the same cloth.
00:18:58
Speaker 1: She beamed at Hector and Sunny and moved closer to them. Hello, Hello,
00:19:04
Speaker 1: welcome to our home. I received a message from Sydney
00:19:09
Speaker 1: telling me you were on your way. I'm missus Claws.
00:19:13
Speaker 1: You must be Hector, what a glorious golden color or furries,
00:19:20
Speaker 1: and you must be Sunny. My goodness, what beautiful eyes
00:19:25
Speaker 1: you have, Sonny. Are you too warm enough? Do you
00:19:29
Speaker 1: need something to eat or drink? Hector and Sonny said
00:19:35
Speaker 1: they were fine, thank you. They couldn't stop smiling at
00:19:39
Speaker 1: missus Claws. She was so very friendly and welcoming. Santa
00:19:46
Speaker 1: Claus jumped off the sleigh and gave his wife a hug.
00:19:50
Speaker 1: He said, I'd better get over to the workshop and
00:19:54
Speaker 1: see how the elves are getting on. He kissed her
00:19:58
Speaker 1: on the cheek, making her blush. Hector and Sonny giggled.
00:20:03
Speaker 1: Santa asked Bernie to take their visitors to the dog's workshop.
00:20:09
Speaker 1: Bernie nodded in reply and asked Sonnie and Hector to
00:20:13
Speaker 1: follow him. Bernie jumped out of the sleigh and padded
00:20:17
Speaker 1: between the snow covered trees and towards one of the
00:20:21
Speaker 1: red buildings. Hector and Sonny followed in his paw. Prince
00:20:30
Speaker 1: Bernie took them into the nearest building, which was made
00:20:33
Speaker 1: up of one enormous room. Lines of tables stretched out
00:20:39
Speaker 1: to the far side of the room, and standing in
00:20:43
Speaker 1: front of the tables were groups of smiling elves who
00:20:47
Speaker 1: were busy making a variety of items. The elves looked
00:20:52
Speaker 1: at Hector and Sonny and sent a cheerful chorus of
00:20:56
Speaker 1: happy helloes their way. The dogs waved casually to the elves,
00:21:03
Speaker 1: trying to look as though they waved to elves all
00:21:05
Speaker 1: the time. Bernie said, we've got most of the presents
00:21:11
Speaker 1: ready for delivery, but some need a final test. Would
00:21:16
Speaker 1: you help us with that? The ones that need testing
00:21:20
Speaker 1: are at the back over there. Hector and Sonny said
00:21:24
Speaker 1: they would be happy to help. They walked behind Bernie
00:21:29
Speaker 1: as he led them through the room. The elves smiled
00:21:33
Speaker 1: at the dogs as they went by. There was a
00:21:36
Speaker 1: jolly atmosphere and the dogs just couldn't stop smiling. Bernie
00:21:43
Speaker 1: stopped at a table at the end of the room.
00:21:46
Speaker 1: He picked up a clipboard from the table and peered
00:21:49
Speaker 1: at it. He said, Ah, the first item that needs
00:21:55
Speaker 1: testing is a gold colored football that's due to be
00:21:59
Speaker 1: delivered to a beagle in England. She doesn't live too
00:22:03
Speaker 1: far away from you too, Actually, she loves playing football
00:22:08
Speaker 1: with her owner's children and has been dreaming about a
00:22:11
Speaker 1: gold colored football for the last few weeks. Hector had
00:22:17
Speaker 1: a question for Bernie, how do you know what dogs
00:22:23
Speaker 1: want for Christmas? They can't write you a letter like
00:22:27
Speaker 1: children do. Bernie lowered the clipboard and explained, dogs soften
00:22:36
Speaker 1: dream about things that fill their heart with joy. Dog's
00:22:41
Speaker 1: dreams are full of magic, and they drift towards us
00:22:46
Speaker 1: on evening breezes. We sort through them and see what
00:22:50
Speaker 1: the perfect Christmas present would be for each dog. Hector
00:22:55
Speaker 1: and Sonny gazed at Bernie in wonder and said they
00:23:00
Speaker 1: never knew that. Bernie searched the table and found a
00:23:05
Speaker 1: gold colored football. He picked it up and said, would
00:23:10
Speaker 1: you test this for me? Please? You can go out
00:23:14
Speaker 1: of that door over there and give it a kick
00:23:16
Speaker 1: around in the snow. Don't worry about damaging it. The
00:23:21
Speaker 1: ball is made from magical material and will never become damaged.
00:23:27
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny took the football outside and began to
00:23:30
Speaker 1: play with it. They knew how to play football because
00:23:35
Speaker 1: they often joined in with games in the park, even
00:23:38
Speaker 1: though sometimes they weren't actually invited to play. The golden
00:23:45
Speaker 1: football was great fun to play with, and the dog
00:23:48
Speaker 1: soon returned to Bernie and told him it was perfect.
00:23:53
Speaker 1: Bernie thanked them, took the ball and threw it over
00:23:56
Speaker 1: to a waiting elf, who expertly wrapped the item in
00:24:00
Speaker 1: less than two seconds. Hector and Sonny proceeded to test
00:24:06
Speaker 1: more items. First of all, they tried on a variety
00:24:11
Speaker 1: of slippers for a poodle in France. The poodle's owner
00:24:16
Speaker 1: wore slippers on an evening, and the poodle wanted some
00:24:20
Speaker 1: of his own too, but in his dreams, he couldn't
00:24:24
Speaker 1: decide which color he liked best. After trying on many
00:24:29
Speaker 1: pairs in different colors, Hector and Sonny agreed that some
00:24:35
Speaker 1: red velvet slippers with pompoms on the end were the
00:24:38
Speaker 1: perfect ones. Bernie agreed and nodded at a nearby elf,
00:24:44
Speaker 1: who swiftly whipped the chosen slippers away to wrap them up.
00:24:51
Speaker 1: The dogs tested some dance mats next, for a dalmatian
00:24:55
Speaker 1: in Australia who loved a boogie with her family. Hector
00:25:00
Speaker 1: and Sonny loved to boogie too, and had a wonderful
00:25:04
Speaker 1: time dancing on the mats. Some of the elves joined
00:25:09
Speaker 1: them and had a fabulous time. After a lot of
00:25:14
Speaker 1: jiving and jigging about, Hector and Sonny reached a decision
00:25:20
Speaker 1: and the chosen dance mat was sent on its way
00:25:23
Speaker 1: to be wrapped up. More items were tested, including a
00:25:28
Speaker 1: set of drums in a guitar. Berney politely asked the
00:25:33
Speaker 1: dogs to test them in a sound proof booth near by.
00:25:38
Speaker 1: Once inside the booth, Sonny beat a catching rhythm on
00:25:42
Speaker 1: the drums and Hector played a bewitching tune on the guitar. Afterwards,
00:25:50
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny talked about setting up a band one
00:25:53
Speaker 1: day and taking their show on the road. Once all
00:25:58
Speaker 1: the presents had been tested and then wrapped up, Bernie
00:26:03
Speaker 1: said it was time to deliver them. The elves placed
00:26:07
Speaker 1: the presents into red velvet sacks and took them outside
00:26:13
Speaker 1: and placed them in the sleigh. Bernie and the dogs
00:26:18
Speaker 1: climbed onto the sleigh and waited for Santa. He arrived
00:26:24
Speaker 1: a few moments later, with Missus Claws at his side.
00:26:29
Speaker 1: Missus Claws had some blankets which she tucked around the dogs.
00:26:34
Speaker 1: She asked Bernie if he had enough gravy in his barrel.
00:26:39
Speaker 1: He nodded and said he had filled it with magical
00:26:42
Speaker 1: Christmas Eve gravy that would never run out. Missus Claws
00:26:48
Speaker 1: gave everyone a hug goodbye, including Hector and Sonny, and
00:26:53
Speaker 1: wished them a very merry Christmas. Santa called out to
00:26:58
Speaker 1: his reindeer and they were soon airborne again. Hector and
00:27:04
Speaker 1: Sunny wave goodbye to missus claws on the snowy ground below,
00:27:09
Speaker 1: and to the elves who had gathered next to her.
00:27:14
Speaker 1: The sky had turned darker and was full of twinkling stars.
00:27:20
Speaker 1: The full moon was big and bright. Santa flew the
00:27:26
Speaker 1: sleigh through the night sky, and it wasn't long before
00:27:31
Speaker 1: they arrived at their first destination. It was the house
00:27:36
Speaker 1: where the football loving beagle lived. Santa asked Hector and
00:27:42
Speaker 1: Sunny to help him deliver the gold colored football. The
00:27:47
Speaker 1: dogs stood on the roof with Santa. He waved his
00:27:52
Speaker 1: gloved hand over the small chimney and made it into
00:27:56
Speaker 1: a helter skelter ride that wound its way down into
00:28:00
Speaker 1: the house. Santa jumped onto the slide and whooshed downwards.
00:28:07
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny followed him, their ears flapping as they
00:28:12
Speaker 1: zoomed round and round. There was a big cushion at
00:28:17
Speaker 1: the bottom of the slide, and their landing was a
00:28:21
Speaker 1: soft one. The beagle was snoozing peacefully in her basket,
00:28:28
Speaker 1: a dreamy smile on her face. Santa silently placed the
00:28:35
Speaker 1: present next to her and whispered, Merry Christmas. He went
00:28:43
Speaker 1: back to the slide, sat on the bottom of it,
00:28:46
Speaker 1: and wooshed backwards and upwards. Hector and Sonny did the same.
00:28:53
Speaker 1: More presents were delivered in the same way, and time
00:28:57
Speaker 1: flew wonderfully by. Hector and Sonny were having an amazingly
00:29:03
Speaker 1: magical time and kept their energy levels up by taking
00:29:08
Speaker 1: regular drinks of the delicious gravy. At one point during
00:29:15
Speaker 1: the starlit flight, Sonny looked out at their surroundings, sighed happily,
00:29:22
Speaker 1: and slowly blinked. Hector asked Sonnie what she was doing.
00:29:31
Speaker 1: Sonny said she was taking a mental picture of the
00:29:35
Speaker 1: magical moment so that she could remember it forever. Hector
00:29:41
Speaker 1: thought that was a lovely thing to do, so he
00:29:45
Speaker 1: did the same. In what seemed like very little time,
00:29:51
Speaker 1: the last of the presents had been delivered, and Santa
00:29:55
Speaker 1: said it was time for the dogs to return to
00:29:58
Speaker 1: the park unless they wanted to help him deliver presents
00:30:04
Speaker 1: to children around the world. Hector and Sunny had grown
00:30:09
Speaker 1: more tired throughout their journey and told Santa they should
00:30:13
Speaker 1: return to the park. After saying good bye to Bernie
00:30:19
Speaker 1: and Santa, the tired dogs let out three sleepy merry
00:30:26
Speaker 1: Christmases in a flash of silver. Hector and Sunny were
00:30:33
Speaker 1: back at the park and standing on the frosty grass again.
00:30:38
Speaker 1: It was daytime and their owners were now unfrozen and
00:30:43
Speaker 1: sipping their hot chocolates. Hector looked left and right, Where
00:30:52
Speaker 1: did Santa go? Sonny smiled and told Hector to look upwards.
00:31:00
Speaker 1: The two dogs gazed at the sky and saw Santa's
00:31:05
Speaker 1: sleigh flying above them. Santa and Bernie waved and called
00:31:11
Speaker 1: out a Merry Christmas, which floated on the winter wind
00:31:16
Speaker 1: towards Hector and Sunny and wrapped around them like a
00:31:21
Speaker 1: warm hug. The dogs sighed happily and agreed that their
00:31:30
Speaker 1: Christmas Eve adventure had been a most magical one. They
00:31:36
Speaker 1: padded slowly over to their owners and flopped at their feet.
00:31:42
Speaker 1: Their owners finished their drinks and then headed home. Later on,
00:31:49
Speaker 1: the snow began to fall, and inside their respective homes,
00:31:55
Speaker 1: Hector and Sunny snuggled up to their owners and thought
00:32:01
Speaker 1: about their day and all the dogs who would be
00:32:05
Speaker 1: waking up to presents they had only dreamed about. A
00:32:10
Speaker 1: Feeling of warmth and happiness flowed through the dogs and
00:32:16
Speaker 1: stayed with them as they fell asleep on that snowy
00:32:21
Speaker 1: Christmas Eve, as they slept, Santa paid them a visit
00:32:29
Speaker 1: and left a silver bable on each of their Christmas trees.
00:32:36
Speaker 1: On the barbles was an image of Hector, Sunny and
00:32:42
Speaker 1: Bernie sitting inside Santa's sleigh as it flew through the
00:32:49
Speaker 1: Starlit sky on the most magical of nights.
