Speaker 1: your books at the ready. As we begin tonight's story,
00:01:15
Speaker 1: This is Hector and Sunny Meet a Wizard by Gillian Rogerson.
00:01:27
Speaker 1: A beautiful golden retriever called Hector was on holiday with
00:01:31
Speaker 1: his best friend Sonny, a kind hearted Cocker spaniel with
00:01:36
Speaker 1: eyes the color of a summer sky. They had brought
00:01:40
Speaker 1: their owners with them. Hector and his owner were staying
00:01:44
Speaker 1: in a cottage by the sea, and Sonny was staying
00:01:47
Speaker 1: with her owner in the cottage right next door. The
00:01:51
Speaker 1: dogs were having a marvelous time. There were many amazing
00:01:55
Speaker 1: beaches to run along, country paths to explore, and lots
00:01:59
Speaker 1: of seagulls to chase. The seagulls loved chasing games just
00:02:04
Speaker 1: as much as the dogs did. On the third day
00:02:09
Speaker 1: of their holiday, Hector and Sonny came out of their
00:02:13
Speaker 1: cottages and said good morning to each other. Their owners
00:02:17
Speaker 1: came out behind them and said hello to each other too,
00:02:21
Speaker 1: and talked about how lovely the weather was. Hector jigged
00:02:26
Speaker 1: excitedly from side to side and told Sonny they were
00:02:30
Speaker 1: all going somewhere very special that morning, and she would
00:02:35
Speaker 1: never guess where. Sonny tried to guess anyway. Are we
00:02:40
Speaker 1: going to the funfair on the pier or doggie paddling
00:02:45
Speaker 1: in the sea or playing football with those children on
00:02:50
Speaker 1: the beach again? I had a lot of fun doing
00:02:53
Speaker 1: that yesterday. Hector chuckled and said it was none of those.
00:02:58
Speaker 1: He puffed out his golden furred chest and announced proudly, Sonny,
00:03:05
Speaker 1: We're going to a castle, A bouncy castle, Sonny asked, hopefully. Nope,
00:03:14
Speaker 1: Hector replied, it's even better than that. It's a really
00:03:20
Speaker 1: old castle that was built hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Actually, Sonny,
00:03:29
Speaker 1: it's not even a full castle anymore. It's in ruins,
00:03:32
Speaker 1: but lots of the walls are still standing. Well, some
00:03:36
Speaker 1: of them are, oh lovely. Sonny couldn't hide the slight
00:03:43
Speaker 1: disappointment in her voice. Hecta noticed and said, it's not
00:03:50
Speaker 1: just any old ruined castle. Though. I watched a TV
00:03:54
Speaker 1: program with my owner a few weeks ago about the castle.
00:03:59
Speaker 1: It's called tin Tagior Castle, and Hector paused dramatically. Or
00:04:07
Speaker 1: wizard called Merlin used to live there, and a king
00:04:11
Speaker 1: called Arthur too. Well, that's what people think. Sonny's beautiful
00:04:18
Speaker 1: eyes grew wider and wider. A wizard and a king
00:04:26
Speaker 1: was the wizard magic? What did he do? Did he
00:04:30
Speaker 1: wear a pointy hat and have one of those long robes?
00:04:33
Speaker 1: Or Hector? This is so exciting? Hector nodded, who it is.
00:04:41
Speaker 1: I don't know much about the wizard or what magic
00:04:44
Speaker 1: he did, because I fell asleep halfway through the program.
00:04:48
Speaker 1: But I can't wait to explore the castle. I've never
00:04:53
Speaker 1: been inside one before, except on a bouncy castle with you.
00:04:58
Speaker 1: Of course, I love auncy castles, Sonny said she did too.
00:05:04
Speaker 1: She gazed wistfully into the distance and said, I wonder
00:05:11
Speaker 1: if Merlin the Wizard still lives in the castle somewhere.
00:05:17
Speaker 1: I'd love to meet a wizard and find out what
00:05:21
Speaker 1: they'd do. Hector raised his nose and sniffed the air.
00:05:28
Speaker 1: A familiar look came into his dark eyes. It was
00:05:33
Speaker 1: a look Sonny knew well, and seeing it now filled
00:05:38
Speaker 1: her heart with joy. She moved closer to Hector, even
00:05:44
Speaker 1: though their owners couldn't speak dog. She whispered, anyway, Hector,
00:05:52
Speaker 1: can you smell magic and year again? Are we going
00:05:57
Speaker 1: on another adventure soon? Hector gave her a wise look
00:06:03
Speaker 1: and nodded, we are, Sonny, and I think this adventure
00:06:10
Speaker 1: will have something to do with a wizard. Sonny's eyes
00:06:16
Speaker 1: filled with admiration for her best friend and his amazing powers,
00:06:22
Speaker 1: and thinking about a new adventure made her jig from
00:06:26
Speaker 1: side to side. Hector copied her, and the two dogs
00:06:32
Speaker 1: barked in happiness about their upcoming adventure as they danced
00:06:37
Speaker 1: this way and that. Their owners stared down at the dogs,
00:06:43
Speaker 1: shook their heads, and then walked towards their cars. They
00:06:48
Speaker 1: decided to take Sonny's car, and everyone bundled into it.
00:06:54
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny sat in the back and looked out
00:06:58
Speaker 1: of the window, huge smiled still on their faces. The
00:07:03
Speaker 1: car zipped along the country lanes, and a short time
00:07:07
Speaker 1: later they arrived at the picturesque coastal town of Tintagel.
00:07:15
Speaker 1: As soon as their doors were opened, the dogs jumped
00:07:19
Speaker 1: out of the car and began looking left and right
00:07:22
Speaker 1: in search of the castle. Hextter spotted it first, Look, Sonny,
00:07:30
Speaker 1: it's over there on top of that island. Can you
00:07:33
Speaker 1: see it. There's a bridge leading over to it. Sonny
00:07:39
Speaker 1: saw the remains of the castle. The early morning mist
00:07:44
Speaker 1: wound around the stone walls that still remained. The island
00:07:49
Speaker 1: was surrounded by the deep blue sea. The soothing sound
00:07:54
Speaker 1: of the waves lapping against the rocks drifted towards the dog,
00:08:01
Speaker 1: and the cry of a sea gull made them look
00:08:03
Speaker 1: upwards at the clear blue sky. Sonny sighed happily and
00:08:11
Speaker 1: told Hector that the castle looked very magical, and asked
00:08:16
Speaker 1: if he could see a wizard anywhere. Not yet, Hector replied.
00:08:23
Speaker 1: Their owners walked away from the car park and along
00:08:27
Speaker 1: a path that led to the castle. The dogs trotted
00:08:31
Speaker 1: at their side. The warm sea air flowed around the
00:08:36
Speaker 1: dogs and ruffled their fur. Sonny looked out at the calm,
00:08:42
Speaker 1: blue sea and said, it looks like the sea goes
00:08:48
Speaker 1: on forever and ever. The call of another sea gull
00:08:53
Speaker 1: made her look upwards again. She saw two peculiar items
00:08:59
Speaker 1: twirling on a gust of wind. Hector, look up, Can
00:09:06
Speaker 1: you see something strange? Hector raised his head. Oh, yes,
00:09:14
Speaker 1: I can. He appeared closer at the objects. Sonny, those
00:09:23
Speaker 1: are hats, wizard hats, and they're coming straight towards us.
00:09:30
Speaker 1: I think our next magical adventure is about to begin.
00:09:36
Speaker 1: Get ready to catch one of the hats on your head.
00:09:42
Speaker 1: The two wizard hats danced on the breeze towards the
00:09:46
Speaker 1: waiting dogs. The hats were purple with silver stars dotted
00:09:53
Speaker 1: around the brim. The dog's owners hadn't noticed the hats
00:09:59
Speaker 1: and were talking about the history of the castle. Hector
00:10:03
Speaker 1: and Sunny stood still and waited for the hats to
00:10:08
Speaker 1: come closer. The hats bogged towards them and landed securely
00:10:15
Speaker 1: on their heads. The wizard hats were a perfect fit
00:10:20
Speaker 1: for the dogs. Hector and Sunny grinned at each other
00:10:25
Speaker 1: and waited for the magic to begin. The world around
00:10:31
Speaker 1: them froze in time. Their owners stopped in mid walk
00:10:38
Speaker 1: and mid talk. Everyone was still except are the dogs.
00:10:46
Speaker 1: When they'd gone on adventures before, they had been magically
00:10:50
Speaker 1: transported to other places, but something different happened this time.
00:10:56
Speaker 1: The people around them vanished, and so did the nearby
00:11:01
Speaker 1: shops and cars. Hector's brow wrinkled in confusion. Sonny, what's happening?
00:11:13
Speaker 1: Why aren't we going anywhere? Sonny smiled at her lovely
00:11:18
Speaker 1: friend and said, we have gone somewhere. We've gone back
00:11:24
Speaker 1: in time. Hector, look at the castle. It's not in
00:11:29
Speaker 1: ruins any more. It looks new, like it was built yesterday.
00:11:37
Speaker 1: Hector stared at the castle and wonder. The castle looked magnificent,
00:11:44
Speaker 1: and there were no broken walls anywhere. People walked in
00:11:49
Speaker 1: and out of a huge arched doorway wearing old fashioned
00:11:53
Speaker 1: robes and dresses, and horses were tied up outside the walls,
00:11:59
Speaker 1: neighing lightly. Wow. Hector said, in total awe we've never
00:12:09
Speaker 1: gone back in time before. What shall we do first, Sonny.
00:12:16
Speaker 1: Sonny replied, I'd like to meet that wizard Merlin if
00:12:22
Speaker 1: he still lives here, and find out more about him.
00:12:26
Speaker 1: Do you think he'll be able to understand us? Hector
00:12:32
Speaker 1: said that if Merlin really was a wizard, then he
00:12:36
Speaker 1: would use his magical powers to understand them. The metal
00:12:41
Speaker 1: footbridge to the castle that had been there moments ago
00:12:46
Speaker 1: had vanished with the rest of the modern world and
00:12:49
Speaker 1: been replaced with a wooden bridge. The dogs jogged towards
00:12:55
Speaker 1: the bridge and onto it. Their paws tapped out a
00:12:59
Speaker 1: song rhythm on the wood as they walked across it.
00:13:06
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny stopped outside the main entrance. They looked
00:13:12
Speaker 1: through the opening and saw people milling about the courtyard
00:13:17
Speaker 1: inside and going about their daily business. Food stores were
00:13:25
Speaker 1: set up, and the lovely smell of cooked food floated
00:13:30
Speaker 1: towards the dogs. Hector spotted a man dressed in bright
00:13:36
Speaker 1: clothes and wearing a hat with bells on it. The
00:13:41
Speaker 1: man sang a joyful song and danced, making the bells
00:13:46
Speaker 1: on his hat jingle. Hector pointed out the happy man
00:13:51
Speaker 1: to Sonny, and the dogs had a little dance to
00:13:55
Speaker 1: his song. Just as they were about to enter the
00:14:00
Speaker 1: parcel and start exploring it, they heard a faint voice
00:14:05
Speaker 1: coming from a different direction. They clearly heard the words
00:14:12
Speaker 1: I will never get the hang of this magic spell.
00:14:19
Speaker 1: Never hope filled the dog's hearts, and they thought the
00:14:25
Speaker 1: voice must belong to a wizard. They followed the sound
00:14:30
Speaker 1: of the muttering voice and walked down a set of
00:14:34
Speaker 1: stone steps at the side of the castle's entrance. The
00:14:39
Speaker 1: steps led down to a small beach that was hidden
00:14:42
Speaker 1: from view. In the middle of the golden sand was
00:14:47
Speaker 1: a little lizard. Her skin was pale purple and speckled
00:14:53
Speaker 1: with small circles of silver that glistened in the sunlight.
00:15:00
Speaker 1: Staring intently at a shell on the sand and mumbling
00:15:05
Speaker 1: something about her magic not working like it was supposed to.
00:15:12
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny padded across the soft sand and stopped
00:15:18
Speaker 1: at her side. Sonny coughed politely and said, hello, excuse
00:15:28
Speaker 1: us for disturbing you, but are you talking to yourself
00:15:32
Speaker 1: or the shell. The lizard looked up at the two
00:15:37
Speaker 1: visitors and gave them a small smile. She said, a
00:15:44
Speaker 1: bit of both. I suppose I'm trying to cast a
00:15:50
Speaker 1: magic spell that will make this shell dance in the air.
00:15:54
Speaker 1: But why magic isn't working. I'm saying the right word,
00:16:00
Speaker 1: the words of the spell, the words that Merlin taught me.
00:16:05
Speaker 1: The dogs let out loud gasps of surprise and stared
00:16:10
Speaker 1: at the lizard. Hector said, you know Merlin, Merlin the wizard.
00:16:19
Speaker 1: The lizard nodded, yes, everyone around here does. He's been
00:16:25
Speaker 1: teaching me some magic tricks, or trying to. I'm good
00:16:30
Speaker 1: at remembering the words of the spells, but I can't
00:16:33
Speaker 1: get them to work, no matter how hard I try.
00:16:39
Speaker 1: She gave the dogs a closer look. I like your hats.
00:16:45
Speaker 1: Are you wizards too? Sonny said they weren't wizards and
00:16:51
Speaker 1: explained who they were and where in time they had
00:16:55
Speaker 1: come from. The lizard wasn't at all surprise to hear
00:17:00
Speaker 1: they had traveled through time, and said she could see
00:17:04
Speaker 1: the magic in their eyes. She told them that her
00:17:08
Speaker 1: full name was Elizabeth, but everyone called her Lizzie. She
00:17:13
Speaker 1: said she lived in a cave at the back of
00:17:15
Speaker 1: the beach. Lizzie explained, this beach is where I first
00:17:23
Speaker 1: met Merlin. A few weeks ago. I saw him walking
00:17:28
Speaker 1: along the beach and looking out at the waves. He
00:17:32
Speaker 1: had such a friendly face, and I walked over and
00:17:36
Speaker 1: introduced myself. We got chatting, and he told me about
00:17:41
Speaker 1: his magical abilities and said anyone could do magic spells,
00:17:46
Speaker 1: even animals like me. I wasn't sure about that, but
00:17:51
Speaker 1: Merlin said all I had to do was believe in
00:17:55
Speaker 1: myself and practice every day. He gave me the words
00:18:01
Speaker 1: of many spells and said he would come back often
00:18:05
Speaker 1: to see how I was getting on. He called me
00:18:09
Speaker 1: his apprentice, which means I'll be a wizard like him
00:18:13
Speaker 1: one day. Since meeting Merlin, it's my dream to become
00:18:19
Speaker 1: a wizard like him. But I don't think that's going
00:18:23
Speaker 1: to happen because I can't even do one spell. Lizzie
00:18:29
Speaker 1: stopped talking and looked down at the shell. She sighed
00:18:35
Speaker 1: ever so softly, but the dogs heard her. Sonny said,
00:18:43
Speaker 1: we don't know much about magic, but we could try
00:18:47
Speaker 1: to help you if you'd like us too. Of course,
00:18:52
Speaker 1: Lizzie looked at the kind dogs and a smile spread
00:18:56
Speaker 1: across her little lizard face. I would like that, thank you.
00:19:04
Speaker 1: Sonny thought about Lizzie's problem and said, perhaps you should
00:19:11
Speaker 1: start with as much simpler spell. When I was younger,
00:19:16
Speaker 1: I used to love collecting sticks at the park. I
00:19:20
Speaker 1: always went for the biggest stick I could find, but
00:19:23
Speaker 1: they were too big for me, and no matter how
00:19:27
Speaker 1: hard I tried, I couldn't pick them up. So I
00:19:32
Speaker 1: decided to try smaller sticks instead, until I found one
00:19:38
Speaker 1: that was the perfect size for me. As I got stronger,
00:19:44
Speaker 1: I started to pick up bigger and bigger sticks. Hector
00:19:49
Speaker 1: hissed out of the side of his mouth. Sonny, I
00:19:54
Speaker 1: don't know what sticks I've got to do with magic.
00:20:00
Speaker 1: Sonny grinned and said, what I'm trying to say is
00:20:07
Speaker 1: you could start with a simpler spell, Lizzie, perhaps just
00:20:11
Speaker 1: making the shell shimmy from side to side in the sand,
00:20:17
Speaker 1: and when your magical powers get stronger, then you can
00:20:23
Speaker 1: move on to bigger spells. Lizzie nodded, Yes, that makes sense.
00:20:32
Speaker 1: I do know a spell to make a shell shimmy
00:20:36
Speaker 1: from side to side in the sand. The lizard who
00:20:41
Speaker 1: wanted to be a wizard concentrated on the shell. She
00:20:46
Speaker 1: muttered some words and looked hopefully at the shell. Hector
00:20:53
Speaker 1: and Sonny looked at it hopefully too. The shell didn't move, said,
00:21:01
Speaker 1: don't give up, Lizzie, believe in yourself. We believe in you.
00:21:10
Speaker 1: His words made the lizard more determined than ever. She
00:21:15
Speaker 1: said the words again. The shell moved slightly to one side,
00:21:24
Speaker 1: then to the other, and then it began to shimmy
00:21:31
Speaker 1: swiftly from side to side in the sand. The lizard
00:21:36
Speaker 1: and the two dogs cheered loudly. Lizzie proceeded to cast
00:21:43
Speaker 1: more spells over other shells, and she made them shimmy
00:21:48
Speaker 1: in the sand too. Her belief in herself grew and grew.
00:21:56
Speaker 1: She cast bigger and bigger spells, and finally she made
00:22:02
Speaker 1: the shells rise from the sand and dance in the air.
00:22:08
Speaker 1: She added some music to the dancing shells. There was
00:22:12
Speaker 1: quite a wonderful sight to see. Hector and Sonny laved
00:22:18
Speaker 1: watching the dancing shells and boogied along with them. Lizzie
00:22:24
Speaker 1: danced too. After a while, Lizzie brought the shells back
00:22:30
Speaker 1: to the sand and made them still again. Hector and
00:22:37
Speaker 1: Sonny said she was a wonderful wizard and couldn't wait
00:22:41
Speaker 1: to see what she would do next. Hector said, before
00:22:49
Speaker 1: you do any more magic, I think you should have
00:22:54
Speaker 1: a hat and a long rowe like Merlin. That's a
00:23:01
Speaker 1: great idea. Thank you. Lizzie magiced up a beautiful hat
00:23:08
Speaker 1: and robe. The hat was just like the dogs were wearing,
00:23:14
Speaker 1: purple and edged in silver stars. Her long robe matched
00:23:20
Speaker 1: her hat, and the stars along the hem twinkled brightly.
00:23:26
Speaker 1: The dogs admired her outfit and said she looked fabulous.
00:23:33
Speaker 1: The lizard wizard asked the dogs if they would like
00:23:37
Speaker 1: to help her with some magic spells. Hector was too
00:23:42
Speaker 1: surprised to speak, so Sonny answered for both of them
00:23:47
Speaker 1: and said yes please. Lizzie said, you've already got the hats,
00:23:54
Speaker 1: and now you need the robes. Is it okay if
00:23:59
Speaker 1: I cast as bell on you to make that happen?
00:24:04
Speaker 1: The dogs nodded and said they completely trusted her magical abilities.
00:24:11
Speaker 1: Lizzie recited the words of another spell, and purple robes
00:24:17
Speaker 1: edged with silver stars appeared on the delighted dogs. They
00:24:22
Speaker 1: were a perfect fit. The lizard began to perform more magic.
00:24:30
Speaker 1: She created a beautiful sand castle that looked exactly like
00:24:35
Speaker 1: the castle on the hill above them. She gave Hector
00:24:40
Speaker 1: and Sonny the words of a shell moving spell and
00:24:44
Speaker 1: asked them to decorate her sand castle with the shells.
00:24:51
Speaker 1: Hector wasn't sure he could do that, but Sonny gave
00:24:56
Speaker 1: him a long, kind look and said she he believed
00:25:00
Speaker 1: in him. Her words made Hector feel all warm and
00:25:06
Speaker 1: happy inside, and he knew he could do anything with
00:25:11
Speaker 1: Sonny at his side. Hector and Sonny looked at the
00:25:16
Speaker 1: shells on the sand and carefully repeated the words Lizzie
00:25:22
Speaker 1: had given them. To their utter delight, the shells rose
00:25:29
Speaker 1: from the sand and floated towards the sand castle. They
00:25:35
Speaker 1: landed firmly on the walls of the sandy building. Hector
00:25:41
Speaker 1: was so astonished that he had to sit down for
00:25:45
Speaker 1: a moment and take it all in. When he'd got
00:25:50
Speaker 1: over his shock at being a wizard, he stood up
00:25:54
Speaker 1: and asked what they could do next, before Lizzie could
00:25:58
Speaker 1: answer him, from above made them look upwards. A huge
00:26:05
Speaker 1: purple dragon was flying through the sky, its wings slowly flapping.
00:26:13
Speaker 1: On the dragon's back was a man dressed in a
00:26:17
Speaker 1: pointy hat and a long flowing robe. The man looked
00:26:22
Speaker 1: down at the small beach and waved to the three
00:26:26
Speaker 1: animal wizards. Lizzie waved back and said that's merlin. Hector
00:26:35
Speaker 1: had to sit down again. It was all too much
00:26:38
Speaker 1: for him. The dragon flew towards the castle and disappeared
00:26:45
Speaker 1: from view. Lizzie looked wistfully at the empty sky and said,
00:26:53
Speaker 1: I wish I could fly on a dragon like Merlin,
00:26:58
Speaker 1: but all the dragons I know were too big for me.
00:27:03
Speaker 1: Sonny had watched a lot of nature programs with her owner,
00:27:08
Speaker 1: and she told Lizzie about an animal called a bearded
00:27:12
Speaker 1: dragon and how it wasn't much bigger than Lizzie. Sonny
00:27:18
Speaker 1: wasn't sure if the bearded dragons could fly, but if
00:27:23
Speaker 1: Lizzie met one who wanted to fly, maybe she could
00:27:27
Speaker 1: use her magic and make that happen. Lizzie shook her
00:27:33
Speaker 1: head in amazement to the dogs and said they were
00:27:37
Speaker 1: full of great ideas. Where would I find a bearded dragon,
00:27:46
Speaker 1: she asked Sonny. Sonny replied, well, I know where they
00:27:54
Speaker 1: live in my time, but it might be different in
00:27:57
Speaker 1: your time. Lizzie nodded, good point. I could magic myself
00:28:07
Speaker 1: to a land where they live and see if any
00:28:11
Speaker 1: of them want to be flying dragons and live here
00:28:14
Speaker 1: with me. She paused, is my magic strong enough to
00:28:20
Speaker 1: do that? Of course it is, Sonny replied firmly. We
00:28:27
Speaker 1: still believe in you, don't We hate Hector was still
00:28:33
Speaker 1: sitting on the sand. He stood up and said they
00:28:38
Speaker 1: absolutely did believe in Lizzie. Lizzie smiled at them. She
00:28:44
Speaker 1: used some magic words and made herself disappear. The dogs
00:28:51
Speaker 1: heard some one walking down the stone steps behind them.
00:28:57
Speaker 1: The dogs turned around and saw Merlin the Wizard, strolling
00:29:02
Speaker 1: towards them. Hector planted his paws in the sand and
00:29:07
Speaker 1: managed to remain standing. Merlin said, hello, there, I can
00:29:17
Speaker 1: tell you to have come from some time in the future.
00:29:23
Speaker 1: I'd love to know how you came to be here
00:29:26
Speaker 1: and why. Sonny had to do all the explaining because
00:29:32
Speaker 1: Hector was staring open mouthed at the wizard and couldn't
00:29:37
Speaker 1: utter a single word. Merlin took all the information in,
00:29:44
Speaker 1: including the part about Lizzie looking for a bearded dragon.
00:29:50
Speaker 1: Merlin looked knowingly towards the sea and said, Lizzie was
00:29:55
Speaker 1: on her way back and she had found a bearded dragon, Whiskers,
00:30:01
Speaker 1: who was overjoyed at being asked to live near the castle.
00:30:08
Speaker 1: Is Lizzie flying towards us now, Sonny asked. Merlin nodded,
00:30:15
Speaker 1: A happy glint came into his eyes, and he asked
00:30:20
Speaker 1: the dogs if they would like to fly with him
00:30:23
Speaker 1: on his dragon and meet Lizzie in the sky. Sonny
00:30:29
Speaker 1: put her poor on Hector to stop him from sitting
00:30:33
Speaker 1: down in surprise again, and said they would love that.
00:30:38
Speaker 1: Thank you. Merlin let out a low whistle. A moment later,
00:30:47
Speaker 1: the Purple dragon appeared in the sky, flew down to them,
00:30:53
Speaker 1: and settled on the sand. Merlin helped the dogs on
00:31:00
Speaker 1: to the dragon's back and secured them in place, tucking
00:31:05
Speaker 1: their wizard robes around their legs. Merlin sat behind them
00:31:11
Speaker 1: and asked the dragon to take them across the sea
00:31:16
Speaker 1: in a southerly direction. The dragon opened its wings and
00:31:24
Speaker 1: rose smoothly from the ground. Up and up they all went,
00:31:31
Speaker 1: until they were high above the castle. The dogs looked
00:31:37
Speaker 1: down at the people inside the castle and waved to them.
00:31:44
Speaker 1: Some people waved back, as though seeing wizard dogs flying
00:31:50
Speaker 1: on a dragon was something that happened all the time.
00:31:56
Speaker 1: The Purple Dragon flew them across the wide blue sea.
00:32:02
Speaker 1: The dog's ears flapped in the breeze. Hector and Sonny
00:32:09
Speaker 1: couldn't stop smiling at each other what an amazing adventure
00:32:15
Speaker 1: they were having. Very soon they saw Lizzie flying towards
00:32:22
Speaker 1: them on a bearded dragon who had purple wings. She
00:32:27
Speaker 1: waved to Merlin and the dogs and flew closer to them.
00:32:34
Speaker 1: Merlin told Lizzie he was very impressed with her magical
00:32:38
Speaker 1: abilities and knew her powers would get stronger and stronger.
00:32:46
Speaker 1: The four wizards flew over the sea for a while longer,
00:32:51
Speaker 1: and then headed back to the castle. They landed on
00:32:57
Speaker 1: the grassy area where Hector and Sonny had first seen
00:33:02
Speaker 1: the flying hats. The dogs were helped off the dragon.
00:33:08
Speaker 1: They both yawned it was time for them to return
00:33:14
Speaker 1: to their own time. Hector and Sonny thanked Merlin and
00:33:21
Speaker 1: Lizzie for the magical adventure. Merlin said they could come
00:33:28
Speaker 1: back any time they wanted to, and gave them the
00:33:32
Speaker 1: words of a spell that would bring them back. The
00:33:37
Speaker 1: new friends said goodbye to each other. The dragons and
00:33:42
Speaker 1: their wizards rose from the ground and flew away. Hector
00:33:49
Speaker 1: and Sonny watched the dragons flying further and further away.
00:33:55
Speaker 1: Then they barked three times and were instantly back in
00:34:00
Speaker 1: their own time. Their purple robes vanished and their hats
00:34:06
Speaker 1: blew away in a strong gust of wind. Hector and
00:34:12
Speaker 1: Sonny's owners became unfrozen and carried on walking towards the castle,
00:34:19
Speaker 1: which was now in ruins again. Sonny sighed happily and
00:34:27
Speaker 1: said going back in time had been an incredible adventure.
00:34:35
Speaker 1: Hector agreed. He raised his nose and sniffed the air.
00:34:41
Speaker 1: He said, there's another adventure waiting for us out there, Sonny,
00:34:48
Speaker 1: and I think we'll be going forward in time one day.
00:34:56
Speaker 1: Sonny nodded, not surprised by his word words at all.
00:35:01
Speaker 1: She said, as long as I'm with you, Hector, it
00:35:08
Speaker 1: doesn't matter where in time I am, and as long
00:35:13
Speaker 1: as we can always return to our lovely owners after
00:35:18
Speaker 1: an adventure, then I'm a very happy dog. Indeed, Hector
00:35:26
Speaker 1: said he felt the same way. The two best friends
00:35:32
Speaker 1: walked at the side of their beloved human friends, feeling
00:35:38
Speaker 1: like the luckiest dogs in the world.
