Speaker 1: She looked upwards at the ceiling, held up one hand,

Speaker 1: A light, crackling sound came from the ceiling. Sparkles of

Speaker 1: no idea. Maybe there's extra magic in the air tonight.

Speaker 1: sound slowly filled the air. Looking upwards, the students saw

Speaker 1: a cluster of fuzzy bats hovering overhead, their wings slowly flapping.

Speaker 1: Each bat was wearing a sparkling orange waistcoat. Doctor Howard

Speaker 1: told the students the bats would lead the way to

Speaker 1: Halloween Village and advised them to form lines behind her.

Speaker 1: streets of Leeds, Lily looked down at the streets and

Speaker 1: saw Halloween festivities taking place on one of the paved areas.

Speaker 1: Children were dressed in a variety of costumes, including fairy

Speaker 1: tale characters, superheroes, and witches. They were oblivious to the

Speaker 1: formation of flying broomsticks above them. The bats flew onwards

Speaker 1: amusement arcades, food stalls, and picnic benches. The joyful sound

Speaker 1: of music and laughter drifted towards them. The twins saw

Speaker 1: lots of visitors wandering around the village and noticed a

Speaker 1: group of unicorns and centaurs queuing up for the ferris

Speaker 1: wheel Halloween village was surrounded by small wooden huts and

Speaker 1: round tents with a couple of lanterns outside each one.

Speaker 1: Seeing as Lily was the expert Halloween village, Jay asked

Speaker 1: her who lived in the huts and tents. Lily answered, witches.

Speaker 1: Some of them live here all year round and have

Speaker 1: The witches are going to put a show. One later,

Speaker 1: the bats headed towards the ground and landed next to

Speaker 1: a large area where visitors could leave their broomsticks. Everyone

Speaker 1: bats bowed their little heads and goodbye and flew away.

Speaker 1: at the treats on offer. The friendly witch behind the

Speaker 1: counter asked what they would like. Lily pointed to a

Speaker 1: tub of pumpkin shaped gummies and asked what flavor they were.

Speaker 1: Any flavor you would like, the witch replied with a smile,

Speaker 1: think about a flavor tap the sweet and it will

Speaker 1: become the taste you require. Hearing about the magical sweets

Speaker 1: made the twins smile, and they each bought a bag.

Speaker 1: They thanked the witch and took a seat on a

Speaker 1: nearby green bench. They opened their bags and took out

Speaker 1: a gummy. They thought of a flavor and then tapped it.

Speaker 1: Lily chose strawberry first, then chocolate mint, and a zesty

Speaker 1: orange flavor. Jake went for pizza, hot dog and French

Speaker 1: fries covered in mustard. Lily pulled a face, said the

Speaker 1: peculiar flavors, but when she tried a pizza gummy mixed

Speaker 1: with a couple of strawberry flavored ones, she smiled and

Speaker 1: said it was actually a good combination. The twins were

Speaker 1: so absorbed in coming up with the most bizarre combination

Speaker 1: did indeed need their help. It was Lily who eventually noticed.

Speaker 1: saw a fluffy black cat standing outside one of the

Speaker 1: witch's tents. The cat was next to a small caudron,

Speaker 1: a book in her paw, and a confused look on

Speaker 1: her furry face. She kept sighing and shaking her head

Speaker 1: at the book. Lily nudged Jake and told him to

Speaker 1: look at the black cat. Lily said, I think she

Speaker 1: needs help. Shall we go over to her? Jake nodded.

Speaker 1: They put their candy bags in their pockets and walked

Speaker 1: over to the cat. Upon their approach, the cat looked

Speaker 1: up from her book and gave them a small smile.

Speaker 1: The twins introduced themselves. Lily politely asked the cat if

Speaker 1: she needed help with something. The cat lowered the book

Speaker 1: and said, oh, yes, I do need help. I'm trying

Speaker 1: to cast a spell as a surprise for my witch,

Speaker 1: but I've no idea what I'm doing. I've never cast

Speaker 1: a spell before, but I've seen my witch doing it

Speaker 1: hundreds of times, so I thought I would have a go.

Speaker 1: But I'm already stuck. Can you help me please? The

Speaker 1: cat said her name was Shadow and explained she was

Speaker 1: having trouble finding the ingredients for the spell. She read

Speaker 1: the first one out the cat's pajamas. Isn't that a

Speaker 1: peculiar item for a spell? Jake nodded and agreed it was.

Speaker 1: He said I didn't even know cats wore pajamas. Shadow said,

Speaker 1: I wear them sometimes when it's cold, and I did

Speaker 1: bring some with me today. I put them in the

Speaker 1: cauldron because that's what the spell informs me to do,

Speaker 1: but the caudron threw them right back out at me.

Speaker 1: Am I doing something wrong with the pajamas? Jake scratched

Speaker 1: his head and said he didn't know. He looked at

Speaker 1: Lily for advice. Her face was scrunched up in thought,

Speaker 1: and she was mumbling something about their grandma. For some reason,

Speaker 1: Jake said, Lily, what are you talking about. What's grandma

Speaker 1: got to do with magic spells? Lily stopped frowning and

Speaker 1: grinned at him. Jake, do you remember what Grandma said

Speaker 1: of course, and asked what the next one was. Shadow

Speaker 1: said it's a star's whisper. The twins looked up at

Speaker 1: the night sky and wondered how they were going to

Speaker 1: capture a star's whisper. Lily said the stars were millions

Speaker 1: of miles away and they'd never be able to get

Speaker 1: there on their broomsticks. Jake looked at his sister and said,

Speaker 1: this is Halloween and anything could happened tonight. Perhaps we

Speaker 1: Nothing happened. Lily and Jake shared puzzled looks. Shadow said,

Speaker 1: I'm no expert when it comes to magic spells, but

Speaker 1: Lily said that was an excellent idea. She held her

Speaker 1: orb near her mouth, looked at the bright star, and

Speaker 1: whispered into the orb, hallo, could you help us with

Speaker 1: a spell? Please? Can you move closer to us? The

Speaker 1: star twinkled more brightly, and then, to the twin's delight,

Speaker 1: if floated down from the sky and hovered in the

Speaker 1: air right next to them. The star opened its sparkling

Speaker 1: eyes and smiled at the twins and the cat. The

Speaker 1: star said, you asked for my help. Lily nodded and

Speaker 1: explained the spell situation. The star said he would love

Speaker 1: to help. He moved closer to the caudron and whispered

Speaker 1: something into it. A flash of light appeared inside the caudron,

Speaker 1: and Shadow confirmed the star's whisper had been successfully collected

Speaker 1: the cat, and the twins thanked the star for his help.

Speaker 1: Lily wanted to ask the star what he had whispered,

Speaker 1: but thought it might be a secret, so she kept quiet.

Speaker 1: The star wished them a happy Halloween, rose into the

Speaker 1: night sky and returned to his previous position. Jake asked

Speaker 1: Shadow what the last last ingredient was. Shadow replied, h broomsticks. Riddle.

Speaker 1: She frowned at the spell book. What does that mean?

Speaker 1: There are hundreds of broomsticks around here. How are we

Speaker 1: supposed to know which one has a riddle? Lily said,
