Speaker 2: their eyes. Cars and buses drove along the road behind them.

Speaker 2: Pedestrians made their way to shops, cafes and workplaces. People

Speaker 2: It looked like a normal day, but it wasn't, not

Speaker 2: for Lily and Jake. They had just turned thirteen, and

Speaker 2: they'd been invited to attend the Leora Academy, a renowned

Speaker 2: been ready for months. They looked at the wristwatches, which

Speaker 2: had been sent to them from the Academy the previous week,

Speaker 2: along with precise instructions on how to use them. The

Speaker 2: twins carefully moved the hands on the watch faces to

Speaker 2: thirteen o'clock. Have we done it right? Jay asked his sister.

Speaker 2: We'll soon see, came her reply. They waited for the

Speaker 2: magic to begin. A Few seconds later, chimes sounded out

Speaker 2: from the town hall, counting the hours, even though it

Speaker 2: was nine o'clock. The tones continued until they reached twelve.

Speaker 2: There was a moment's pause, and then a thirteenth chime

Speaker 2: rang out, sounding clearer and sharper than the previous ones.

Speaker 2: A change came over the city. Pedestrians became as still

Speaker 2: as statues, cars and buses stopped. Moving, birds fell quiet,

Speaker 2: The breeze dropped. The tranquil silence descended on the city

Speaker 2: as it froze in time. All of a sudden, the

Speaker 2: gravelly sound of moving stone cut through the quiet air.

Speaker 2: of the town hall's entrance slowly came to life. He

Speaker 2: rose to his feet and arched his back, making a

Speaker 2: sound like pebbles rolling down a hill. The lion leaped

Speaker 2: from his stone plinth and landed in front of the twins.

Speaker 2: A slow smile settled on his sculptured face. The lion

Speaker 2: spoke in a deep voice, Lily and Jake, Jupiter, it's

Speaker 2: good to finally meet you. Let me introduce myself. I'm Elias,

Speaker 2: one of the guardians of the Academy. Lily said, shyly.

Speaker 2: We know who you are. We've read all about you.

Speaker 2: Elias's smile grew. That's good to know. I see you've

Speaker 2: brought your parents with you. Oh no, Lily replied, we haven't.

Speaker 2: We're thirteen now and we don't need walking to school.

Speaker 2: Elias chuckled. They are hiding behind that post box along

Speaker 2: the road. Who can blame them for wanting to be

Speaker 2: with you on this special day? Are you ready to

Speaker 2: enter the building? Lily and Jake nodded in unison. Elias

Speaker 2: waved his paw over the steps to his right slowly

Speaker 2: and soundlessly. A narrow sation of stairs opened upwards on

Speaker 2: an invisible hinge to reveal a set of descending marble

Speaker 2: steps within. The Lion got to his feet, gave them
00:06:14
Speaker 2: a regal bow, and said, off you go, have the

Speaker 2: most magical of days. Lily, Jake, I assume you know

Speaker 2: all about first day privileges. Lily said they did, but

Speaker 2: didn't know what theirs would be. Elias nodded, it's different

Speaker 2: for every pupil. I can now tell you what your

Speaker 2: first one is. When you get to the bottom of
00:06:47
Speaker 2: the marble steps, you'll come across a spiral staircase which
00:06:52
Speaker 2: has seven hundred stairs. It's quite a hike down, but
00:06:58
Speaker 2: today you're allowed to slide down the banister. It's a

Speaker 2: lot of fun. I've done it more than once. He
00:07:08
Speaker 2: winked at them. Off you go. The twins thanked Elias,

Speaker 2: and then took their first steps into the Leora Academy.

Speaker 2: Down the pale, pink marble stairs they went. Sparkling crystals

Speaker 2: and gems encrusted within the rock lit their way. When

Speaker 2: they came to the spiral staircase, Lily noticed the concerned

Speaker 2: look on her brother's face and offered to go first.

Speaker 2: She climbed onto the polished banister and pushed herself away.

Speaker 2: Her cries of delight filled the air, causing Jake to relax.

Speaker 2: A minute later, he followed her on the winding journey.

Speaker 2: Lily was waiting for him at the bottom, her eyes

Speaker 2: shining with joy. She whispered, Jake, we're here.

Speaker 2: I can't. He looked ahead at the long haul, which

Speaker 2: notice board. The letter had their names on it. Lily

Speaker 2: opened the letter, Jake, it's another first day privilege. We

Speaker 2: can cast an enchantment on the floor and travel to
00:08:46
Speaker 2: Dtor Howard's office. However, we want, we have to decide

Speaker 2: which enchantment to use. The twins read through their options.

Speaker 2: They could turn the floor into ice and skate along it,

Speaker 2: or create a long trampoline and bounce from one end

Speaker 2: to the other. They could use a zip line as

Speaker 2: their choice of travel. There was also the chance to

Speaker 2: create an obstacle course comprising of bridges, tunnels, twisty slides,

Speaker 2: and monkey bars. Not only that, they had the option

Speaker 2: to use scooters powered by nuggets of magical shadowstone. Jake sighed,

Speaker 2: I can't decide. They all sound great. I wish we

Speaker 2: could have all of them. The letter rose from Lily's
00:09:41
Speaker 2: hand and folded itself into a paper aeroplane. It flew
00:09:47
Speaker 2: along the hall, emitting a plume of silver smoke behind it,

Speaker 2: which gently floated to the wooden surface of the floor,

Speaker 2: like glitter in a snow globe. The twins watched in

Speaker 2: astonishment as the floor rippled and changed into many different textures.

Speaker 2: We can have all of them. Lily said in an

Speaker 2: awed whisper, Have we just cast our first enchantment? Jake shrugged,

Speaker 2: not knowing the answer. The twins grinned at each other

Speaker 2: before proceeding along the charmed pathway. They skated smoothly over

Speaker 2: the sparkling surface of the frozen wood, a few flakes

Speaker 2: of soft snow fluttering onto their heads, onto the bouncy trampoline, next,

Speaker 2: jumping so high that their outstretched hands touched the ceiling.

Speaker 2: The zip lining followed, and then it was onto the

Speaker 2: obstacle course. After that came their chance to ride the

Speaker 2: scooters powered by Shadowstone. The scooters lifted off the ground

Speaker 2: and bore the twins onwards, making them feel as if

Speaker 2: they were flying. They landed smoothly outside doctor Howard's office

Speaker 2: and stepped off the scooters. The second later, the enchanted

Speaker 2: floor returned to its normal appearance. That was amazing, Neelie said,

Speaker 2: with a big grin on her face. She looked at

Speaker 2: the door in front of her. The smile on her
00:11:39
Speaker 2: face faltered. Sensing his sister's nerves, Jake said he'd go

Speaker 2: into the office first. He raised his fist to knock.

Speaker 2: He never made contact with the door because it swiftly

Speaker 2: swung open. Come in, Come in, voice cooled out. The

Speaker 2: spectacular sight of a golden sandy beach, the blue sea

Speaker 2: sparkling in the distance, and as your sky dotted with

Speaker 2: swooping seagulls completed the scene, the sound of the rolling

Speaker 2: waves mixed with the faint noise of someone playing a guitar.

Speaker 2: Jake went through the open door and stepped onto the

Speaker 2: soft sand. A warm breeze tickled his face. Lily followed

Speaker 3: We're on a beach, I know, with the sea and

Speaker 3: sand and palm trees, and the sea and sand.

Speaker 2: I know. Jake repeated, do you like it? A voice

Speaker 2: asked from a hammock swaying between two palm trees. It

Speaker 2: was the same cheery voice which had bidden them to enter.

Speaker 2: The hammock swung forward, and a woman gracefully climbed out

Speaker 2: and walked towards the twins with her long navy hair

Speaker 2: and sapphire eyes. It was the unmistakable face of doctor

Speaker 2: Eleanor Howard. She was wearing a flowing green dress covered

Speaker 2: in bright yellow sunflowers and red flipflops adorned her feet.

Speaker 2: A pineapple shaped glass was in her hand. Doctor Howard

Speaker 2: stopped in front of the twins and smiled at them. Jake, Lily,

Speaker 2: let me get you a drink. This pineapple juice is exquisite.

Speaker 2: She clicked her fingers and the same pineapple shaped glasses

Speaker 2: appeared in front of the twins. They plucked them as

Speaker 2: though taking apples from a tree. Waving her hand around

Speaker 2: the beach, Doctor Howard explained it was her latest shape

Speaker 2: shifting spell. To change one's own shape is easy enough,

Speaker 2: as you will soon learn, but to change a room

Speaker 2: takes much more practice. Alas, I'm still experiencing some teething

Speaker 2: issues with this spell, such as the t rex playing
00:14:40
Speaker 2: the guitar over there. I have no idea where he
00:14:44
Speaker 2: came from, and he's terrible on that instrument, but I'm
00:14:49
Speaker 2: not going to be the one who tells him. Have

Speaker 2: you seen the size of him? The twins' heads turned
00:14:56
Speaker 2: in the direction of the enormous dinosaur. Doctor Howard continued talking.

Speaker 2: Jake Lily, I'm sure you're eager to explore the academy.

Speaker 2: You'll want to meet your fellow pupils and teachers. And

Speaker 2: find three hidden gems. Each gem should be placed on

Speaker 2: the spine of the book. Once they're in place, the

Speaker 2: book would reveal its secrets. If you know the history

Speaker 2: of Leora Academy, well you will succeed. You must go now,

Speaker 2: we will talk later. The pineapple shaped glasses vanished from

Speaker 2: the twins' hands, and Doctor Howard returned to the hammock,

Speaker 2: howled against their chests. They walked on down the hall,

Speaker 2: leaving a small trail of sand behind them. It wasn't

Speaker 2: inside and discovered a large map printed on the floor.

Speaker 2: a quest thousands of years ago to find the perfect

Speaker 2: location for a new school of magic. As he named

Speaker 2: right area on the map. The quest had begun in

Speaker 2: Scotland and on the outer Islands. There, the beings known

Speaker 2: Not only because of the coolness of the water, which

Speaker 2: was perfect for them, but because of the iridescent purples, pinks,

Speaker 2: and blue tints of the northern lights, which were so

Speaker 2: magnificent to watch. The Pixies did not care for the

Speaker 2: colder atmosphere, so a journey was made to the southern

Speaker 2: part of England, whereupon the pixies fell in love with

Speaker 2: the sandy beaches and hidden caves. But the centaurs claimed

Speaker 2: somewhere open and wild would be better, somewhere they could

Speaker 2: run freely. Hence the quest took the group to Wales.

Speaker 2: they preferred forest environments, and so everyone headed to an

Speaker 2: soul and took the group to a long, meandering river

Speaker 2: which would be called the Thames. The mythical creatures would

Speaker 2: have discussed the matter for years if it wasn't for

Speaker 2: the sudden appearance of a wise owl. After saying she

Speaker 2: knew the perfect place for the school, the owl led

Speaker 2: them to the center of England and Yorkshire. The group

Speaker 2: were guided towards a long winding river, where the owl

Speaker 2: explained future settlers would build a city there full of

Speaker 2: friendly humans with hearts of gold and also the uncannyability

Speaker 2: to speak their minds when needed. And so the new

Speaker 2: school was constructed beneath the ground, not far from the river.

Speaker 2: Enchanted portals were added, which led to lagoons, caves, forests, mountains, lakes,

Speaker 2: and many more landscapes, so that everyone's needs were met.

Speaker 2: Jake concluded his tail and Lily placed the life last

Speaker 2: figure in the middle of leeds. It was a replica

Speaker 2: of the wise owl. As soon as the bird was

Speaker 2: in place, two sapphires appeared on the map. They rose

Speaker 2: and moved towards the blank books. They fixed themselves into

Speaker 2: place on the spine. Lily and Jake left the room

Speaker 2: and once more walked down the hallway. They soon happened

Speaker 2: upon another door. They entered a room full of floating bubbles.

Speaker 2: It took them barely any time to realize the room

Speaker 2: represented a fable called the Night of a Thousand Dreams.

Speaker 2: The fable said sleep fairies flew around towns and cities

Speaker 2: in the twilight hours, watching for dreams which would float

Speaker 2: from houses. The fairies collected them in bottles until they

Speaker 2: each had a thousand dreams. Then they would take the

Speaker 2: bottles to a special cave and place them on shelves.

Speaker 2: If the fairies became aware of someone having trouble sleeping,

Speaker 2: a fairy would take a bottle of the dreams and

Speaker 2: let the bubbles float into the home of the restless sleeper.

Speaker 2: Without fail, the dreams would lead the person to slumber

Speaker 2: and a RESTful night's sleep. Jake wondered what the fable

Speaker 2: had to do with the gems they were searching for.

Speaker 2: Lily pointed to two empty bottles standing on the floor.

Speaker 2: Then she raised her hand towards the nearest bobbing bubble.

Speaker 2: I think these bubbles are our dreams. I remember having

Speaker 2: that one over there. It's about a tree house in

Speaker 2: the clouds. And you told me about that dream of

Speaker 2: yours when you flew on the back of an emerald dragon.

Speaker 2: Can you see it just behind you. I think we

Speaker 2: have to collect our dreams and put them in these bottles,

Speaker 2: But how will we reach them? Jake asked, Some of

Speaker 2: the bubbles are near the ceiling. No sooner had he

Speaker 2: said those words than a pair of silver wings materialized

Speaker 2: on the back of each twin. Within seconds, they were

Speaker 2: flying around the room chasing dreams. As soon as they

Speaker 2: reached out for a bubble, it would pop, and a

Speaker 2: sprinkle of glitter floated towards the bottles on the floor

Speaker 2: and trickled inside. When the last of the dreams were

Speaker 2: inside the bottles, Lily and Jake returned to the floor

Speaker 2: and their wings vanished. Jake gazed at the bottles. I

Speaker 2: wonder if any of those dreams will come true? They might.

Speaker 2: bottles turned into rubies and attached themselves to the spines

Speaker 2: of the velvet covered books. The twins left the room.

Speaker 2: Instead of the hallway outside, they were faced with a

Speaker 2: wide expanse of night sky. Stars twinkled and sparkled like gems.

Speaker 2: you remember? Lily shook her head. Jake pointed towards the

Speaker 2: star filled sky and said, there are many constellations which

Speaker 2: are visible to humans Pegasus and Pisces, Aquarius, Vernequila, Lepus

Speaker 2: the hair, and Signus the swan, but there is only

Speaker 2: one constellation, which can be seen by those with magical

Speaker 2: ability is I've never seen her before, but now that

Speaker 2: we're inside this school, we might be able to see her.

Speaker 2: Let's try. The twins scanned the sky until they found

Speaker 2: what they were looking for. There she is, Lily pointed

Speaker 2: to the left, the wise owl who led the first

Speaker 2: founders here, Leora. As though hearing her name, the star

Speaker 2: shaped owl flapped her wings and flew from the sky.

Speaker 2: She landed in front of the twins, matching them in height.

Speaker 2: Her wings opened out, and two stars floated towards the books.

Speaker 2: They turned into diamonds before settling onto the spines. The
