00:01:02
Speaker 1: and our bedtime story that is genuinely a real dream
00:01:06
Speaker 1: come true. We're joining our favorite Koala siblings, Coco and
00:01:10
Speaker 1: Kira again, but not on the cold, snowy slopes of
00:01:14
Speaker 1: New Zealand this time. Nope. The lucky pair are on
00:01:18
Speaker 1: the receiving end of a really remarkable surprise from their granddad.
00:01:23
Speaker 1: He's given them tickets to go and see their favorite
00:01:28
Speaker 1: singer in concert. Who would you choose to see perform
00:01:32
Speaker 1: in real life if you could, well these too, sure,
00:01:36
Speaker 1: no for them. It's swifty. So let's jump into bed
00:01:42
Speaker 1: and take some steadying breaths and some stretches. That's right,
00:01:47
Speaker 1: Breathe away the day and my excitement and relax into
00:01:54
Speaker 1: your coziest place in bed. Okay, let's begin. Coko and
00:02:02
Speaker 1: Kira go to a Swifty concert by Luke Prendergast. Deep
00:02:14
Speaker 1: in the heart of a far away forest stood a
00:02:17
Speaker 1: cozy wooden cabin. Inside the cabin lived a family of koalas.
00:02:23
Speaker 1: Coco the Koala lived with his mom and his dad,
00:02:27
Speaker 1: his grandma and his granddad. Up until recently, that had
00:02:31
Speaker 1: been the whole family, and he was the youngest member
00:02:34
Speaker 1: of it. But a few months ago his parents had
00:02:38
Speaker 1: announced a truly exciting surprise. There was to be a
00:02:42
Speaker 1: new member joining the family, and soon enough, Kira the
00:02:46
Speaker 1: Panda arrived, Coko's adopted little sister. Ever since then, Coco
00:02:52
Speaker 1: and Kira had been having a whale of a time
00:02:54
Speaker 1: getting to know each other. Coco introduced Kira to his
00:02:58
Speaker 1: two best friends, Camo the Comedian and Prickles the Hedgehog,
00:03:03
Speaker 1: and the four of them loved hanging out and playing
00:03:05
Speaker 1: in sleepy forests together. Coco thought it was a very
00:03:09
Speaker 1: interesting thing, indeed, to gain a little sister, because you
00:03:13
Speaker 1: found out just how much you had in common. Both
00:03:17
Speaker 1: he and Kira loved blueberry muffins, for example, and they
00:03:22
Speaker 1: both had great fun climbing trees, and they both liked
00:03:26
Speaker 1: the way the tree bark in the forest smelled after
00:03:30
Speaker 1: a good long rain. There were other things they didn't
00:03:34
Speaker 1: have in common, of course. Kira's absolute favorite color in
00:03:39
Speaker 1: the world was purple, for example, while Coco's was blue.
00:03:45
Speaker 1: And while Coco liked to get up quite early in
00:03:48
Speaker 1: the morning, just as the sun was peeking over the horizon,
00:03:52
Speaker 1: it often seemed like Kira could sleep forever, Coco was
00:03:57
Speaker 1: always having to go and drag her out of bed
00:04:00
Speaker 1: by her pause. But Coco often thought to himself that
00:04:05
Speaker 1: he enjoyed discovering the things he and Kira didn't have
00:04:08
Speaker 1: in common more than the things they did. Without Kira,
00:04:13
Speaker 1: for example, Coco would never have tasted bamboo pancakes, which
00:04:19
Speaker 1: were it turned out completely delicious, And he also would
00:04:26
Speaker 1: never have heard about Swifty, and that would have been
00:04:31
Speaker 1: a real shame. Swifty was Kira's favorite singer in the
00:04:37
Speaker 1: whole entire world. When Kira arrived, she brought with her
00:04:42
Speaker 1: a purple MP three player, and she would listen to
00:04:45
Speaker 1: music on it with a pair of bright purple earphones
00:04:48
Speaker 1: and dance around her room. What are you listening to
00:04:53
Speaker 1: on that all the time? Coco asked her one afternoon. Swifty,
00:05:00
Speaker 1: She said simply, as though that explained it. Coco raised
00:05:04
Speaker 1: an eyebrow. Who's swifty? He asked. Kira stopped her dancing
00:05:12
Speaker 1: and took out one of her earphones. You mean you
00:05:16
Speaker 1: don't know who swift he is, she asked him, a
00:05:21
Speaker 1: look of shock on her face. Coco shook his head. Nope,
00:05:27
Speaker 1: She's only the coolest singer in the world, Kira cried.
00:05:32
Speaker 1: Look and from under her bed, Kira pulled a rolled
00:05:36
Speaker 1: up poster. She unfurled it and laid it flat on
00:05:40
Speaker 1: the ground, and then as she and Ko Ko stood
00:05:44
Speaker 1: looking down at it, she said, that's swifty. The poster
00:05:50
Speaker 1: showed a golden bird with lustrous golden feathers and a
00:05:56
Speaker 1: big mass of curly blonde hair on her head. She
00:06:00
Speaker 1: was wearing a long dress with lots of sparkly sequins
00:06:03
Speaker 1: on it, sequins of every color of the rainbow, and
00:06:08
Speaker 1: in her hand she held a microphone. Just from one look,
00:06:14
Speaker 1: Coco could tell she was fabulous. Can I have a
00:06:21
Speaker 1: listen to some of her music with you? Coco asked
00:06:26
Speaker 1: Kira for some reason, feeling a little shy, But Kira
00:06:31
Speaker 1: just threw her arms around him. Of course you can,
00:06:35
Speaker 1: she cried. Now there was nothing that Coco and Kira
00:06:40
Speaker 1: liked doing more than putting Swifty on the radio and
00:06:43
Speaker 1: dancing around the cabin together. They stuck the poster of
00:06:47
Speaker 1: Swifty on the wall. They sang her songs in the
00:06:50
Speaker 1: shower one evening. They even played her to their granddad,
00:06:54
Speaker 1: who sat in his old armchair listening for a few
00:06:57
Speaker 1: moments before getting up and boogy around the room with them. Well,
00:07:04
Speaker 1: he said, grooving and jiving to the music. Ah have
00:07:08
Speaker 1: to admit this Swifty is pretty good. Listening to Swifty
00:07:15
Speaker 1: together brought Coco and Kira closer than ever before. Coco
00:07:20
Speaker 1: was so glad that he had something he could bond
00:07:23
Speaker 1: with his little sister over, staying up late, listening to
00:07:26
Speaker 1: the music, and singing songs together. As they strolled around
00:07:31
Speaker 1: Sleepy Forest, they agreed that there was nothing they'd wish
00:07:35
Speaker 1: for more than the chance to meet Swifty in person.
00:07:41
Speaker 1: That would be a dream come true, Kira sighed. One afternoon,
00:07:50
Speaker 1: when Coco and Kira came home from a day of
00:07:53
Speaker 1: working hard at Sleepy Forest Elementary School, their granddad was
00:07:57
Speaker 1: waiting in the cabin for them. Come on, you two,
00:08:02
Speaker 1: he said, I've got a surprise for you. Cooko and
00:08:07
Speaker 1: Kira exchanged a wide eyed stare. They wondered what on
00:08:13
Speaker 1: earth the surprise could be. Their granddad pulled an envelope
00:08:19
Speaker 1: out of his pocket and handed it to them. Opened that,
00:08:24
Speaker 1: he said, and see Ko. Ko said that Kira should
00:08:30
Speaker 1: open it, and so she took a claw and slipped
00:08:34
Speaker 1: it under the seal. She tore open the paper, poured
00:08:38
Speaker 1: out its contents, and gave a big squeal of delight.
00:08:43
Speaker 1: It's Swifty tickets, she shouted, showing Koko the slips of
00:08:49
Speaker 1: paper in her hand. She's coming to sing in Sleepy Forest,
00:08:54
Speaker 1: and the concert is tomorrow. Koko and Kira were both
00:09:00
Speaker 1: so overcome with joy and gratitude that they ran up
00:09:04
Speaker 1: to their granddad and threw their arms around him. Thank you,
00:09:10
Speaker 1: they said, thank you, thank you. That night, they were
00:09:16
Speaker 1: so excited that they didn't want to go to bed.
00:09:20
Speaker 1: They sat in their room, listening to Swifty songs and
00:09:24
Speaker 1: discussing all their predictions about what would happen at the
00:09:28
Speaker 1: show tomorrow, which songs would she sing, what instruments would
00:09:33
Speaker 1: she play, and would she do her famous concert move,
00:09:39
Speaker 1: spreading her big golden wings out wide and soaring through
00:09:43
Speaker 1: the air, swooping over the entire crowd as she sang
00:09:48
Speaker 1: her final number. In the end, their mum had to
00:09:53
Speaker 1: come into their bedroom and insist that they go to bed.
00:09:57
Speaker 1: She switched off the radio, tucked them both in, and
00:10:01
Speaker 1: gave them each a kiss on their furry foreheads. The
00:10:06
Speaker 1: sooner you get to sleep, she told them, the sooner
00:10:11
Speaker 1: tomorrow will come, and that means the sooner you'll get
00:10:17
Speaker 1: to the concert. Well, neither Cocoa nor Kira could argue
00:10:23
Speaker 1: with that. Their mum certainly was very wise. The next
00:10:29
Speaker 1: day they had to concentrate very hard on their lessons
00:10:33
Speaker 1: and try very hard not to think about the concert.
00:10:37
Speaker 1: That evening, they did their times tables, and they did
00:10:41
Speaker 1: their spelling tests, and they tried not to look at
00:10:45
Speaker 1: the clock and count down the minutes until the big event.
00:10:50
Speaker 1: When the bell finally rang, signaling that it was the
00:10:54
Speaker 1: end of the day, at Sleepy Forest Elementary School, Coco
00:10:58
Speaker 1: and Kira practically they sprinted back home. There was so
00:11:03
Speaker 1: much they needed to do before the concert, and the
00:11:07
Speaker 1: most important thing of all, of course, was deciding what
00:11:12
Speaker 1: to wear. Cocoa and Kira emptied out their wardrobes, sifting
00:11:18
Speaker 1: through all their clothes trying to choose the perfect outfit.
00:11:24
Speaker 1: They tried all sorts of things on, shirts and dresses,
00:11:29
Speaker 1: skirts and scarves, top hats and bowling caps, baggy teas
00:11:36
Speaker 1: and cowboy boots. At last, Kira decided that she was
00:11:42
Speaker 1: going to wear her all time favorite outfit, a sparkly
00:11:47
Speaker 1: purple dress with matching sparkly pumps, and she tied a
00:11:52
Speaker 1: big purple bow in her hair too. That's perfect, Kira,
00:11:58
Speaker 1: Coco told her he definitely chose the right outfit. In
00:12:05
Speaker 1: the end, Coco chose a blue T shirt for himself,
00:12:09
Speaker 1: covered in a pattern of flying birds. He put on
00:12:12
Speaker 1: his favorite pair of trainers too, and a bright blue
00:12:17
Speaker 1: baseball cap. Oh set, he said, how do I look?
00:12:24
Speaker 1: Kiera looked at her brother's outfit. Pretty cool, she said.
00:12:30
Speaker 1: When they went into the kitchen, they was surprised to
00:12:33
Speaker 1: find that their granddad had dressed up for the concert too.
00:12:37
Speaker 1: He was wearing a bright golden waistcoat covered in sequins,
00:12:41
Speaker 1: and he wore a black top hat and a pair
00:12:43
Speaker 1: of shiny black shoes. What do you reckon, kids, he said,
00:12:49
Speaker 1: I'm pretty trendy for an old koala Onn't I very trendy? Granddad?
00:12:57
Speaker 1: Coco and Kira agreed, and so, making sure that they
00:13:01
Speaker 1: had their tickets secured safely in their pockets, Coco, Kira,
00:13:06
Speaker 1: and their granddad set off across Sleepy Forest. The concert
00:13:12
Speaker 1: was to take place in a clearing beside Sleepy River,
00:13:15
Speaker 1: where a large stage had been set up especially for
00:13:18
Speaker 1: Swifty's arrival. As the three of them approached it, they
00:13:23
Speaker 1: saw a large crowd gathering outside it. There must have
00:13:28
Speaker 1: been hundreds of animals there, all different kinds of creatures
00:13:32
Speaker 1: from across Sleepy Forest. They could see bears and tigers,
00:13:37
Speaker 1: birds and bumblebees. There was even a family of elephants
00:13:41
Speaker 1: wearing matching pink trousers. There's so many different people here,
00:13:48
Speaker 1: Coco said, looking around him. Yes, Kira agreed, but we've
00:13:54
Speaker 1: all got one thing in common. We're all here to
00:13:58
Speaker 1: see Swifty. Coco looked at his little sister, then smiled
00:14:04
Speaker 1: at what she'd said. She was absolutely right. Even though
00:14:08
Speaker 1: everyone here was different from each other, they all had
00:14:12
Speaker 1: things in common too. Coco, Kira and their granddad joined
00:14:17
Speaker 1: the Cure fans waiting to get into the concert, and
00:14:21
Speaker 1: before long they'd reached the front. They showed their tickets
00:14:26
Speaker 1: to the pelican in a blue uniform, who inspected them
00:14:29
Speaker 1: and gave them a big beaky smile. Oh, welcome a
00:14:33
Speaker 1: toe the Swifty Tour, he said, carry on straightforward please.
00:14:40
Speaker 1: They passed through a low wooden tunnel, and when they
00:14:43
Speaker 1: reached the clearing for the arena, all three of them
00:14:47
Speaker 1: clapped their paws to their mouths. What an extraordinary sight.
00:14:53
Speaker 1: The clearing by the river had been completely transformed. A
00:14:58
Speaker 1: large stage had been set up by the water's edge,
00:15:02
Speaker 1: and on either side of it two huge banners of
00:15:05
Speaker 1: Swifty herself were smiling down on them with her big
00:15:10
Speaker 1: blue eyes, her curly locks, her golden feathers. The stage
00:15:16
Speaker 1: in the trees all around it was slung with twinkling
00:15:19
Speaker 1: fairy lights, and there were big stacks of speakers on
00:15:23
Speaker 1: the stage. In front of the stage, the crowd gathered
00:15:27
Speaker 1: on a huge grassy area. Some were eating, some were singing,
00:15:33
Speaker 1: some were hopping from foot to foot in excited anticipation.
00:15:38
Speaker 1: Some sat on deck chairs, while others sat in circles
00:15:42
Speaker 1: on the grass, drinking fruit juices and eating veggie dogs
00:15:46
Speaker 1: wrapped up in paper. What a big crowd, Granddad said,
00:15:53
Speaker 1: This Swifty shut does have a lot of fans. He
00:15:59
Speaker 1: glanced around the arena and saw over to the side
00:16:04
Speaker 1: an area where food and drink was being served. We
00:16:07
Speaker 1: better get some grub in before the main event, he said,
00:16:12
Speaker 1: what do you guys think. Cocoa and Kira wholeheartedly agreed.
00:16:17
Speaker 1: In fact, their stomachs were already gurgling. They made their
00:16:22
Speaker 1: way over to the food area, stepping over picnic blankets,
00:16:26
Speaker 1: picking their way through other fans. Every creature they passed
00:16:31
Speaker 1: gave them a glowing smile and waved and said hello,
00:16:35
Speaker 1: or asked them if they were excited for the show.
00:16:38
Speaker 1: They even saw one grinning giraffe dressed up as Swifty
00:16:43
Speaker 1: herself in a blonde, curly wig and a spangly dress.
00:16:48
Speaker 1: The giraffe gave them a big, friendly wave. They couldn't
00:16:53
Speaker 1: believe just how friendly everyone was. For a few minutes,
00:16:58
Speaker 1: they stood in front of the food stands, deciding what
00:17:01
Speaker 1: to order. Everything looked so delicious. Then Coco spotted a
00:17:08
Speaker 1: particular sign above a stall, bamboo pancakes. He called out
00:17:15
Speaker 1: in joy, that's just what I want. At the same time,
00:17:21
Speaker 1: Kira spotted something she wanted. Oh yeah, she cried, They've
00:17:27
Speaker 1: got eucalyptus curry. Coco and Kiera looked at each other
00:17:33
Speaker 1: in surprise and delight. What a funny, topsy turvy world.
00:17:38
Speaker 1: It had become a koala eating bamboo pancakes while a
00:17:43
Speaker 1: panda bear ate eucalyptus curry. The sun was dipping low
00:17:49
Speaker 1: in the sky, turning all the leaves of the trees
00:17:53
Speaker 1: dazzling reds and browns. Just as they were finishing off
00:17:58
Speaker 1: their delicious dinner, there was a rumble from the speakers.
00:18:02
Speaker 1: The show was about to begin. Coco, Kira, and their
00:18:08
Speaker 1: granddad went and took up their positions and watched as
00:18:13
Speaker 1: the lights on the stage began to flicker and flash.
00:18:18
Speaker 1: Kira felt excitement fizzing around her stomach, like she drunk
00:18:23
Speaker 1: too much pop. She'd been waiting for this moment for
00:18:27
Speaker 1: so long. She took hold of her brother's hand and
00:18:32
Speaker 1: gave it a squeeze. I'm too excited, she said, me too,
00:18:40
Speaker 1: Coco said. A single guitar chord was strommed. It echoed
00:18:47
Speaker 1: around the Sleepy Forest arena. Then out of nowhere, Swifty
00:18:55
Speaker 1: herself swooped on to the stage, and the crowd let
00:19:00
Speaker 1: out a roar of cheers and applause. Swifty sang. Swifty danced, Swifty,
00:19:10
Speaker 1: Sword and Cocoa and Kira and their granddad sang and
00:19:15
Speaker 1: danced too, bopping their hips to the music, singing the
00:19:20
Speaker 1: words of all the songs. She was even better than
00:19:26
Speaker 1: they could have imagined. The minutes flew by as she
00:19:30
Speaker 1: played all her best numbers, opening her golden wings wide
00:19:35
Speaker 1: to give the audience an air hug and strutting and
00:19:40
Speaker 1: boogying across the stage. People in the audience passed out
00:19:46
Speaker 1: friendship bracelets made of beads, spelling out things like I
00:19:51
Speaker 1: Heart Swifty. All too soon, Swifty gave a toss of
00:19:57
Speaker 1: her tangly golden locks and said, thank you so much
00:20:03
Speaker 1: for having me, Sleepy Forest. What an amazing night it's been.
00:20:09
Speaker 1: And you, you guys, have been the audience of dreams.
00:20:16
Speaker 1: This is my final song. Hope you enjoy it. The
00:20:21
Speaker 1: audience held their breath. The piano notes played a drum crashed,
00:20:29
Speaker 1: and then, much to everyone's delight, Swifty spread her wings
00:20:35
Speaker 1: and took to the air, around and around the arenas
00:20:40
Speaker 1: she flew, singing her final song high above the heads
00:20:45
Speaker 1: of the crowd, as her fans all clapped and sang.
00:20:50
Speaker 1: With a final flutter of her wings and a deep bow,
00:20:55
Speaker 1: Swifty left the stage. That was awesome, said Kira, Thank you, granddad,
00:21:07
Speaker 1: it really was, Coco agreed, I just wish it wasn't over.
00:21:16
Speaker 1: Their granddad looked at them both, his eyes twinkling mischievously.
00:21:23
Speaker 1: Well this isn't quite over yet, he said. What could
00:21:28
Speaker 1: he possibly mean? But their granddad only pressed a paw
00:21:33
Speaker 1: to his lips to indicate they shouldn't ask any questions
00:21:38
Speaker 1: and gestured for them to follow him. Instead of heading
00:21:43
Speaker 1: in the direction of the crowd out of the arena
00:21:46
Speaker 1: and back into the forest, their granddad led them towards
00:21:50
Speaker 1: the stage. They walked around until they were in the
00:21:54
Speaker 1: backstage area. Ignoring the looks of confusion on Coco's Kira's faces.
00:22:01
Speaker 1: Their granddad led them up to a golden door and
00:22:04
Speaker 1: gave it two knocks with his paw. Are you ready,
00:22:10
Speaker 1: he said, smiling down at them, and then Cocoa and
00:22:15
Speaker 1: Kira could not believe their eyes. Who should open the
00:22:21
Speaker 1: door but Swifty herself. Hello, Kira, Hello Coco, she said,
00:22:30
Speaker 1: you're a granddad. Tell me you'd like to meet me.
00:22:34
Speaker 1: Thank you ever so much for coming to my show.
00:22:39
Speaker 1: Coco and Kira could barely speak, they were so overcome
00:22:45
Speaker 1: by happiness. Instead, they both gave Swifty a big hug
00:22:50
Speaker 1: and thanked her for putting on such an amazing show.
00:22:55
Speaker 1: Swifty gave them both a signed picture of her and
00:22:58
Speaker 1: another hug just for luck, and then Coco and Kira
00:23:03
Speaker 1: made their way, rather astonished back across the arena. How
00:23:10
Speaker 1: did you do that, Granddad, Coco asked him. Oh, their
00:23:16
Speaker 1: granddad replied, another twinkle in his eyes, I have my
00:23:23
Speaker 1: secret ways. So they made their way back across sleepy
00:23:29
Speaker 1: forest as night descended and the shadows lengthened across the floor.
00:23:35
Speaker 1: They spoke about the concert, what were their best moments,
00:23:40
Speaker 1: what did they think of all of Swifty's costumes. Kira
00:23:44
Speaker 1: said her favorite song was the one about Romeo and Juliet,
00:23:49
Speaker 1: and Coco said that his was the one about shaking
00:23:52
Speaker 1: it off. I just like the boogieing. Their granddad said.
00:24:00
Speaker 1: By the time they got home, ko Ko and Kira
00:24:03
Speaker 1: were rather tired. It had been a long day. Not
00:24:08
Speaker 1: only had they worked hard at school, but they'd spent
00:24:12
Speaker 1: the entire evening dancing and singing. It had all left
00:24:17
Speaker 1: them feeling very happy, indeed, but also ready for bed.
00:24:24
Speaker 1: They gave their granddad an extra big squeeze that night,
00:24:29
Speaker 1: thanking him again for such an extraordinary surprise, and then
00:24:34
Speaker 1: they went up to bed. Kira took off her purple,
00:24:39
Speaker 1: sparkly dress and put on her soft purple pajamas. Ko
00:24:45
Speaker 1: Ko put his blue baseball cap back in the drawer.
00:24:49
Speaker 1: They did their teeth in the bathroom sink, side by side,
00:24:54
Speaker 1: and then they each gave a big yawn. Come on,
00:25:00
Speaker 1: ko Ko said, time for bed. Then Mum came in
00:25:06
Speaker 1: to tuck them in as she always did. You'll sleep
00:25:10
Speaker 1: well to night, she said, and they agreed. It certainly
00:25:15
Speaker 1: felt like they needed a big, long sleep. The mum
00:25:21
Speaker 1: gave them each a kiss on the head and then
00:25:24
Speaker 1: closed the bedroom door behind her. In the darkness, the
00:25:29
Speaker 1: two siblings gave out happy, tired sighs. Ko Ko began
00:25:36
Speaker 1: to hum a swifty tune, and for a few moments
00:25:41
Speaker 1: Kia sleepily joined in. Then she turned on her side
00:25:47
Speaker 1: so she could see the silhouette of Ko Ko lying
00:25:50
Speaker 1: on his back in his bed. I can't believe we
00:25:56
Speaker 1: got to go to a Swifty concert, she said. I know,
00:26:04
Speaker 1: said Ko Ko, And we got to see her fly
00:26:09
Speaker 1: around the whole Loreena and Kira added, we got to
00:26:17
Speaker 1: meet her in person. We actually got to speak to her, Yeah,
00:26:27
Speaker 1: said ko Ko through a yawn. I still can't quite
00:26:32
Speaker 1: believe it. They lay on their backs for a few
00:26:37
Speaker 1: more minutes, and ko Ko thought perhaps that Kira had
00:26:42
Speaker 1: fallen asleep. When she started speaking again. It really was
00:26:49
Speaker 1: a dream come true to meet Swifty, she said. But
00:26:56
Speaker 1: do you know what's an even bigger dream come true?
00:27:01
Speaker 1: What Ko Ko asked her to have? Got to do
00:27:06
Speaker 1: it with you. When she said these words, Ko Ko
00:27:13
Speaker 1: was filled with a warm and cozy feeling, as though
00:27:17
Speaker 1: there was a hot water bottle resting gently in his chest.
00:27:23
Speaker 1: He felt very lucky to have the family he had,
00:27:28
Speaker 1: his parents and his grandparents, and Kira too. I love you,
00:27:36
Speaker 1: little sister, he whispered, Love you too, big bro, came
00:27:43
Speaker 1: the reply, and then just like that, Ko Ko and
00:27:49
Speaker 1: Kira fell into a d and dream filled sleep.
