Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to Coco Sleep, a podcast of
00:00:14
Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime
00:00:20
Speaker 1: a dream. Tonight's story is a little different and very
00:00:24
Speaker 1: very special. We're soon going to meet a warm, happy
00:00:28
Speaker 1: sunflower who wants to remind us how unique we truly are.
00:00:33
Speaker 1: I think once you've met Sally Sunflower, you'll never see
00:00:37
Speaker 1: a sunflower again without remembering her wonderful calming words. Before
00:00:43
Speaker 1: we get started, though, I want to give a warm
00:00:45
Speaker 1: welcome and mega shout out to all of you brand
00:00:48
Speaker 1: new Cocoa Glovers who've joined us recently. That's Amaya, William, Hayley, Connor,
00:00:57
Speaker 1: Samuel and Millie Taylor, Thea, Samara, Lacey Rose and Aiden, Nasma,
00:01:07
Speaker 1: Oscar and Jonah. Cocoa's blowing all of you air kisses.
00:01:12
Speaker 1: I hope you caught them now. Then lie back in
00:01:15
Speaker 1: bed and get ready to meet this remarkable flower, whose
00:01:18
Speaker 1: wisdom and advice will help you all have a RESTful
00:01:21
Speaker 1: night and a happy day tomorrow. This is Sally Sunflower's
00:01:26
Speaker 1: Bedtime Affirmations, Buys Susannah McLaughlin in a warm golden field,
00:01:41
Speaker 1: one thousand sunflowers gently swayed in the late evening breeze.
00:01:47
Speaker 1: They had spent all day being warmed by the sun,
00:01:50
Speaker 1: and now they were filled with happiness and goodness, ready
00:01:54
Speaker 1: for bed. We are so lucky, you see, to live
00:01:58
Speaker 1: in a world looked after by a big, glorious sun.
00:02:02
Speaker 1: The Sun spends her days in the sky, sending loving
00:02:06
Speaker 1: beams of golden light to keep us warm, to grow
00:02:09
Speaker 1: our food, and make us feel bright and sunny ourselves.
00:02:14
Speaker 1: Sunflowers are especially receptive to the sun's rays. Their wide
00:02:18
Speaker 1: yellow petals welcome the sun, and no matter where she
00:02:23
Speaker 1: is in the sky, they turned their faces to follow
00:02:26
Speaker 1: her and absorb her rays. On this particular night, as usual,
00:02:32
Speaker 1: the sun began to sink, and the sky began to
00:02:36
Speaker 1: be colored candy floss pink. The sunflowers one by one
00:02:42
Speaker 1: lowered their heads and got ready for bed, turning into
00:02:46
Speaker 1: the shade. Sally, however, a particularly tall sunflower, was so
00:02:53
Speaker 1: filled up with the Sun's positivity that she thought she
00:02:57
Speaker 1: should stay up a bit longer. She was bursting with joy,
00:03:01
Speaker 1: so much so that she thought she needed to pour
00:03:04
Speaker 1: some warmth back into the world to anyone else getting
00:03:08
Speaker 1: snugly in their beds. Shall we visit Sally and see
00:03:12
Speaker 1: what she wants to tell us. Close your eyes, Breathe
00:03:19
Speaker 1: in deeply and breathe out again. Feel yourself and flating
00:03:26
Speaker 1: like a bloom. As you breathe out, imagine yourself floating
00:03:32
Speaker 1: off the ground into a sunset sky. Breathe in again,
00:03:39
Speaker 1: and imagine the twinkling stars around you. Breathe out. The
00:03:46
Speaker 1: stars are just beginning to poke out of a gently
00:03:49
Speaker 1: darkening sky. Breathe in deeply and think about the color
00:03:57
Speaker 1: of the sky. Breathe out. Is it a soft pink
00:04:03
Speaker 1: or apricot orange? Is it a peachy yellow or a
00:04:08
Speaker 1: soft misty blue. Breathe in as you float on the
00:04:15
Speaker 1: evening breeze, and breathe out as you float even further.
00:04:23
Speaker 1: There's a patch of yellow over there on the ground.
00:04:26
Speaker 1: Can you see it. It looks like a field full
00:04:31
Speaker 1: of yellow sunflowers. Let's go over there. Breathe in deeply
00:04:40
Speaker 1: and breathe out. As you float towards the ground, there
00:04:47
Speaker 1: are sunflowers as far as you can see. Their petals
00:04:52
Speaker 1: are golden yellow, and their stalks they are a soft,
00:04:56
Speaker 1: velvety green. You can hear their gentle snores drifting on
00:05:01
Speaker 1: the breeze. Most of the sunflowers are turned away from
00:05:06
Speaker 1: the sun. Now. They're leaning their heads on one another
00:05:10
Speaker 1: and letting out a soft snorting symphony as they sleep. You,
00:05:17
Speaker 1: youaw and yourself. What a sleepy sight. But there's one
00:05:25
Speaker 1: sunflower still awake. She's still facing what remains of the
00:05:30
Speaker 1: sun as it lowers beyond the horizon. She gazes at
00:05:36
Speaker 1: the smudges of pink and orange left behind, and marvels
00:05:41
Speaker 1: at the stars beginning to shine above her. It's Sally.
00:05:46
Speaker 1: The sunflower is smiling dreamily. She's almost glowing against the
00:05:53
Speaker 1: hazy evening. You approach Salie and give her a friendly hello.
00:05:59
Speaker 1: She's startled slightly and begins to talk in her gentle voice. Sorry,
00:06:06
Speaker 1: she says, I was daydreaming and I didn't see you there.
00:06:13
Speaker 1: You say that that's quite all right, and she begins
00:06:16
Speaker 1: to tell you about her day. Sally has been side
00:06:20
Speaker 1: by side with her sunflower friends all day long, following
00:06:25
Speaker 1: the path of the warm sun. She watched as farmers
00:06:30
Speaker 1: worked in the next field harvesting the golden corn. Stopping
00:06:35
Speaker 1: now and again for cool drinks and snoozes in the shade.
00:06:40
Speaker 1: She greeted the donkeys who passed by grazing on the
00:06:44
Speaker 1: grass by the cobbled road side. She said a friendly
00:06:48
Speaker 1: bonjour to any humans that went by on their bicycles,
00:06:52
Speaker 1: with baguettes poking from their bags, always with a bite
00:06:57
Speaker 1: already eaten. From the end, the sky had been blue
00:07:02
Speaker 1: above her, and the sun seemed more golden than ever before.
00:07:08
Speaker 1: The sun had poured so much warmth upon her that
00:07:12
Speaker 1: Sallie's heart felt full and happy. She asks you whether
00:07:18
Speaker 1: you know why the sun shines with warmth and joy.
00:07:23
Speaker 1: Sallie explains that the sun is kind, caring, and confident.
00:07:30
Speaker 1: She believes in herself and wishes happiness on everybody she sees.
00:07:37
Speaker 1: Do you know that you can be as warm as
00:07:41
Speaker 1: the sun? Sallie asks you are surprised, could you really
00:07:47
Speaker 1: shine like the sun? Sallie tells you that all you
00:07:54
Speaker 1: need to shine with the light of the sun is
00:07:57
Speaker 1: to be positive and kind. Salli tells you that before
00:08:03
Speaker 1: bed she practices affirmations which remind her to be the
00:08:08
Speaker 1: best sunflower she can be. She says that even though
00:08:13
Speaker 1: you are very special, sometimes it can be hard to
00:08:17
Speaker 1: remember that. Sometimes you have to stop and remind yourself
00:08:22
Speaker 1: of all the wonderful things that make you you. When
00:08:27
Speaker 1: you are sure of who you are, it will shine
00:08:30
Speaker 1: through to others as inside you are as warm and
00:08:35
Speaker 1: loving as sunshine. She asks you, if you want to
00:08:40
Speaker 1: say her affirmations along with her to night, it's easy.
00:08:45
Speaker 1: All you have to do is repeat Sallie's words. Are
00:08:49
Speaker 1: you ready? If you're too sleepy, don't worry. Just listen
00:08:54
Speaker 1: to the words and let them fill you up. If
00:08:59
Speaker 1: you can say in your head after me, I am kind.
00:09:06
Speaker 1: I love myself, I love the world around me. I
00:09:17
Speaker 1: help the people around me and treat them with kindness.
00:09:27
Speaker 1: It's okay if I make mistakes, I will do my
00:09:35
Speaker 1: best Tomorrow. I can shine like the sun. My smile
00:09:51
Speaker 1: is as bright as the sun. Good, Sally says. She
00:10:01
Speaker 1: is beaming to hear your positivity. She says, it's working
00:10:06
Speaker 1: your beginning to shine now. Something important to know about positivity,
00:10:15
Speaker 1: Sally says, is that you don't only send it outwards,
00:10:19
Speaker 1: you also shine inwards on yourself. The sun not only
00:10:24
Speaker 1: warms others, She keeps herself shining by loving herself. Let's
00:10:31
Speaker 1: practice being kind to ourselves. Repeat Sally's affirmations, listening to
00:10:39
Speaker 1: her words and really believing them because they are true.
00:10:45
Speaker 1: I am clever, I am kind, I am capable. It
00:10:57
Speaker 1: is enough to do my best. I can make a difference.
00:11:06
Speaker 1: I am strong, I am brave, I am a good friend.
00:11:19
Speaker 1: I have a big heart. I am as special and
00:11:26
Speaker 1: laughed as the sun. Sallie claps her leaves and glows
00:11:32
Speaker 1: even brighter. She has one last thing to tell you. Now,
00:11:39
Speaker 1: It's okay if you don't always feel sonny, Sallie says,
00:11:45
Speaker 1: Sundays you might feel a little gloomy. On those days,
00:11:51
Speaker 1: you can try and find your inner sunshine. Just remember
00:11:56
Speaker 1: the clouds always pass, and on days where you don't
00:12:02
Speaker 1: feel so good, talk to some one else. Their own
00:12:06
Speaker 1: sunshine may just shine on you. You smile. You feel
00:12:15
Speaker 1: Sallie's Sunflower's warmth emanating from her golden petals. You feel
00:12:21
Speaker 1: the same warmth inside of you. Now that Sallie's Sunflower
00:12:29
Speaker 1: has said her bedtime affirmations, she gives a big yawn.
00:12:35
Speaker 1: You say it's time for your own bedtime, and she protests,
00:12:40
Speaker 1: saying that she's not sleepy, and she'd love to chat
00:12:43
Speaker 1: to you longer. But you see her eyes gently closing
00:12:48
Speaker 1: and her head bobbing, and you know she's drifting off
00:12:52
Speaker 1: to sleep. Sallie wishes you good night and bows her head.
00:12:59
Speaker 1: De pin sleep and snoring along in harmony with the
00:13:04
Speaker 1: other flowers. You watch them for a moment. Look at them,
00:13:11
Speaker 1: swaying ever so gently. The warm breeze moves through them
00:13:18
Speaker 1: like ripples on a pond. They sway as they breathe
00:13:24
Speaker 1: slowly in, burn slowly out. Let's breathe along with them
00:13:33
Speaker 1: and enjoy the quietness of the evening. Breathe in, feel
00:13:40
Speaker 1: the warm breeze, and breathe out. Breathe in and notice
00:13:52
Speaker 1: the stars twinkling in the sky, and breathe out. Breathe
00:14:01
Speaker 1: in and feel the soft cushion of grass below your feet.
00:14:09
Speaker 1: Breathe out slowly. Look behind you. The moon has risen
00:14:18
Speaker 1: whilst you are talking to Sally. He is full and round,
00:14:24
Speaker 1: and you see his gentle face gazing softly down at
00:14:29
Speaker 1: the world and bathing it in his calm. His eyes
00:14:35
Speaker 1: are so full of kindness. Just as the sun brings
00:14:41
Speaker 1: warmth and life to the world, the moon's job is
00:14:45
Speaker 1: to bring peace and soft, cozy sleep. Let the calm
00:14:52
Speaker 1: of the moon wash over you. Maybe you can try
00:14:57
Speaker 1: counting the stars. You count one, two, three, four, Before
00:15:08
Speaker 1: long you lose count. There's so many twinkling silver stars
00:15:14
Speaker 1: sending their glow into space that you feel happily lost
00:15:18
Speaker 1: amongst them. Look at the twirl of the milky way.
00:15:25
Speaker 1: What a lovely planet we live on. Let's take a
00:15:30
Speaker 1: stroll down the lane together. There's cottages in the fields
00:15:36
Speaker 1: on your right, and the windows glow golden and orange.
00:15:41
Speaker 1: You imagine the cozy, warm scene inside. Maybe there's a
00:15:48
Speaker 1: little boy in there being tucked into bed by his grandpa.
00:15:53
Speaker 1: Maybe his grandpa is reading him a fairy tale as
00:15:57
Speaker 1: he drifts off into his dreams. You smile at the thought.
00:16:04
Speaker 1: The cottage is surrounded by a soft meadow dotted with
00:16:08
Speaker 1: wild flowers whose silky petals shine in the moonlight. Tucked
00:16:15
Speaker 1: in amongst them, you see two of the donkeys Sally
00:16:19
Speaker 1: told you about. They are sleeping in the soft field,
00:16:24
Speaker 1: gentle smiles on their faces. Their long furry ears are
00:16:30
Speaker 1: relaxed against their faces. One of the donkey's tail twitches.
00:16:37
Speaker 1: He must be dreaming. You wonder what he's dreaming about.
00:16:44
Speaker 1: Baby is dreaming of another long, lazy summer day that
00:16:50
Speaker 1: he can spend roaming the fields and talking to the flowers,
00:16:55
Speaker 1: grazing on green grass beneath the sun. What will you
00:17:04
Speaker 1: do to morrow? Maybe you too will find yourself in
00:17:09
Speaker 1: a happy field, playing games and exploring. Maybe you'll see
00:17:16
Speaker 1: your friends who will be so excited to play with you.
00:17:21
Speaker 1: Maybe you'll have a chance to make new friends who
00:17:25
Speaker 1: are as kind and funny as you. Let's say some
00:17:30
Speaker 1: affirmations for to morrow. Every day is an opportunity for
00:17:36
Speaker 1: you to shine like sunshine. Some days you may feel
00:17:42
Speaker 1: like a rain cloud, and some days you may feel
00:17:45
Speaker 1: a little thundery, and that's okay. Bad weather always passes.
00:17:53
Speaker 1: Let's try and make to morrow a sunshine day. Repeat
00:17:58
Speaker 1: after me. Tomorrow is a new day and a new
00:18:07
Speaker 1: opportunity to shine. Tomorrow. I will spread kindness and I
00:18:19
Speaker 1: will be warm to those around me. I will do
00:18:29
Speaker 1: my best because I know I am capable and I
00:18:40
Speaker 1: am strong, I am clever, I am brave, and I
00:18:55
Speaker 1: am loved. You your you feel as sleepy as the sunflowers,
00:19:04
Speaker 1: It's time to go back to your cozy bed. Imagine
00:19:11
Speaker 1: yourself drifting up towards the stars. Look at them twinkling
00:19:18
Speaker 1: and shimmering in the inky blanket of the sky. Look
00:19:24
Speaker 1: at the big, beautiful, glowing orb of the moon. He
00:19:30
Speaker 1: is smiling at you as you float by. Wish him
00:19:36
Speaker 1: good night. He wishes you a good night too. And
00:19:41
Speaker 1: the sweetest of dreams. You see your house below you.
00:19:48
Speaker 1: It looks like a toy house from up here. As
00:19:52
Speaker 1: you float closer, it grows bigger. You see a soft
00:19:58
Speaker 1: golden light shining from your bedroom. You float through the
00:20:04
Speaker 1: window and land in your soft, squishy bed. Feel the
00:20:12
Speaker 1: soft pillow below your head. It makes you feel so
00:20:17
Speaker 1: supported and comfortable. Feel the blanket over you. It makes
00:20:24
Speaker 1: you feel safe and protected, warm and cozy. It's time
00:20:32
Speaker 1: to drift off to dreamland. Let's finish by repeating Sally's
00:20:39
Speaker 1: affirmations one last time. Repeat after me in your head
00:20:46
Speaker 1: and let yourself absorb the words, remember that they are true.
00:20:54
Speaker 1: Let's begin. I am clever, I am kind, I am capable.
00:21:08
Speaker 1: It is enough to do my best. I can make
00:21:13
Speaker 1: a difference. I am strong, I am brave. I am
00:21:25
Speaker 1: a good friend. I have a big heart. I am
00:21:35
Speaker 1: as special and loved as the sun. I am kind.
00:21:44
Speaker 1: I love myself. I love the world around me. I
00:21:54
Speaker 1: help the people around me and treat them with kindness.
00:22:00
Speaker 1: It's okay If I make mistakes, I will do my
00:22:07
Speaker 1: best tomorrow. I can shine like the sun. My smile
00:22:17
Speaker 1: is as bright as the sun. I feel as calm
00:22:23
Speaker 1: as the moon, and as sleepy as a sunflower. Now,
00:22:32
Speaker 1: let's picture the slowly swaying sunflowers as we drift off
00:22:39
Speaker 1: to a gentle, peaceful sleep. On the coming to with
00:24:13
Speaker 1: the movie you
