00:01:53
Speaker 1: all dreams come true, including for listeners Eve and Coco
00:01:59
Speaker 1: Miss two two four Yes. A little while ago, Eve
00:02:03
Speaker 1: wrote a review for us and said that she would
00:02:06
Speaker 1: like to hear a story about a character called Sandy
00:02:09
Speaker 1: the Snail. She also sent in a photo of a
00:02:13
Speaker 1: wonderful drawing where it appears Sandy is already wearing her
00:02:17
Speaker 1: snail varnish. Also, Coco Miss two two four eight has
00:02:21
Speaker 1: suggested the adorable name of Nectar the Hummingbird, who also
00:02:26
Speaker 1: stars tonight. So lie back and listen as we accompany
00:02:31
Speaker 1: our little snail, Sandy, whose dreams are so big that
00:02:36
Speaker 1: she's not convinced they could ever come true. Let's see
00:02:40
Speaker 1: as we join Sandy on her travels and hear about
00:02:43
Speaker 1: the amazing things that happened to her. Snuggle down and
00:02:48
Speaker 1: close your eyes as I begin Sandy the Snail in
00:02:53
Speaker 1: Dreamland by Gillian Rogerson. It was a beautiful sunny day
00:03:04
Speaker 1: in the park. A little snail called Sandy was sitting
00:03:08
Speaker 1: on her very favorite rock and basking in the wonderful
00:03:12
Speaker 1: warmth of the sun. Sandy had lived in the park
00:03:16
Speaker 1: all her life and loved it. She loved the variety
00:03:21
Speaker 1: of rocks and stones that she could rest on as
00:03:24
Speaker 1: she watched the people and animals of the park go by.
00:03:28
Speaker 1: She loved snuggling up beneath bushes, feeding all cozy and
00:03:32
Speaker 1: warm under the soft leaves, and she absolutely adored traveling
00:03:38
Speaker 1: through the flower beds and having a little nibble on
00:03:41
Speaker 1: the delicious petals of the blooms. Roses were her favorite
00:03:45
Speaker 1: flowers to eat, and they smelled very nice too. Sandy
00:03:51
Speaker 1: spent most of her days wandering leisurely around the park,
00:03:55
Speaker 1: in no rush to get anywhere, just enjoying her slow
00:04:00
Speaker 1: but steady journey through the abundant grass and trees. She
00:04:06
Speaker 1: did her best to explore a new area every day.
00:04:10
Speaker 1: Where the park was so enormous to the little snail,
00:04:14
Speaker 1: as she was sure there was still plenty more to discover.
00:04:18
Speaker 1: Sandy's favorite part of the day was settling down in
00:04:22
Speaker 1: the evening and watching the stars and moon appear in
00:04:26
Speaker 1: the huge sky above her. When she felt tired enough,
00:04:31
Speaker 1: she would pop into her shell and fall asleep. She
00:04:35
Speaker 1: loved sleeping and getting lost in her lovely dreams. The
00:04:40
Speaker 1: little snail had many dreams, some of which were so
00:04:45
Speaker 1: enormous that she didn't think they would ever come true.
00:04:49
Speaker 1: The day soon came when all that changed. That special
00:04:55
Speaker 1: day had started like any other. Sandy had woken up,
00:05:00
Speaker 1: popped her head out of her shell, and had a
00:05:02
Speaker 1: good neck stretch. She had said good morning to all
00:05:07
Speaker 1: her friends, other snails, some ladybirds, and bees buzzing through
00:05:12
Speaker 1: the air. She'd enjoyed a breakfast of freshly cut grass,
00:05:17
Speaker 1: followed by SIPs of morning dewdrops. After that, Sandy had
00:05:23
Speaker 1: climbed onto a sunwarmed rock and started her main activity
00:05:28
Speaker 1: of the day, watching the world go by. Everything was
00:05:34
Speaker 1: just as it normally was, but as she gazed across
00:05:39
Speaker 1: the grass that morning, something strange was about to happen.
00:05:45
Speaker 1: Two of Sandy's favorite dogs bounded into the park with
00:05:49
Speaker 1: their owners. The dogs were called Hector and Sunny, and
00:05:53
Speaker 1: they always said hello to Sandy when they saw her.
00:05:58
Speaker 1: Sandy watched the dog's check, facing squirrels and collecting sticks
00:06:02
Speaker 1: for their owners. Seeing how happy the dogs were made
00:06:08
Speaker 1: Sandy smile, but a few moments later she stopped smiling.
00:06:15
Speaker 1: Sandy saw Hector and Sonny running towards a big tree.
00:06:20
Speaker 1: It looked like they hadn't seen the tree because all
00:06:24
Speaker 1: their attention was on the silver furred squirrel they were chasing.
00:06:29
Speaker 1: Sandy called out, watch out for the tree. A warning
00:06:36
Speaker 1: came too late. The dogs ran into the tree and
00:06:40
Speaker 1: then completely disappeared. Sandy stared at the tree. Where had
00:06:48
Speaker 1: Hector and Sunny gone? How very peculiar. She was about
00:06:54
Speaker 1: to climb off her rock and go over to investigate,
00:06:58
Speaker 1: But then something even more peculiar happened. Hector and Sonny
00:07:04
Speaker 1: reappeared right in front of her. One second they hadn't
00:07:10
Speaker 1: been there, and the next second there they were, looking
00:07:15
Speaker 1: extremely happy. Hector looked like he had some gravy on
00:07:20
Speaker 1: his fur. Sandy was sure the gravy hadn't been there before.
00:07:26
Speaker 1: What just happened? Sandy asked them, you disappeared and then
00:07:33
Speaker 1: you came back. Hector chuckled and said, we've been to
00:07:40
Speaker 1: a magical place called Dreamland. A squirrel with silver fur
00:07:46
Speaker 1: took us there. He's called Sydney. Dreamland is a place
00:07:52
Speaker 1: where all your dreams can come true, isn't it, Sonny.
00:07:58
Speaker 1: Sonny nodded and explained how they'd seen lots of animals there,
00:08:03
Speaker 1: including lions playing tennis, kangaroos jumping on a bouncy castle,
00:08:09
Speaker 1: and flamingoes dancing to disco music. Oh really, Sandy replied
00:08:18
Speaker 1: she had no idea what any of those animals were,
00:08:22
Speaker 1: because she was only familiar with the animals in the park.
00:08:27
Speaker 1: Hector continued talking. There was a stream made out of
00:08:33
Speaker 1: delicious gravy. It was yummy. I had a huge drink
00:08:39
Speaker 1: of it. And there was a fun adventure course as well.
00:08:43
Speaker 1: You like that very much, didn't you, Sonny Sonny smiled,
00:08:48
Speaker 1: I did, Sandy. Would you like to visit Dreamland? I'm
00:08:54
Speaker 1: sure Sydney could take you there. He's very friendly. Do
00:08:59
Speaker 1: you have that you'd like to make come true? A
00:09:04
Speaker 1: wistful smile alighted on Sandy's face. She sighed softly and said, oh,
00:09:13
Speaker 1: I have many dreams, many many dreams, but I don't
00:09:20
Speaker 1: think they'll ever come true. Dreams come true all the time,
00:09:27
Speaker 1: said a voice behind Sandy. Sandy slowly turned around and
00:09:33
Speaker 1: saw Sydney sitting there. She had seen him before in
00:09:37
Speaker 1: the park and had admired his silvery fur that glimmered
00:09:41
Speaker 1: in the sunlight. Sandy smiled at the friendly squirrel and
00:09:47
Speaker 1: said she hadn't even noticed him jumping onto the rock.
00:09:52
Speaker 1: Sandy asked the squirrel if she really could make her
00:09:56
Speaker 1: dreams come true. You s certainly can, he replied, Let's
00:10:04
Speaker 1: go into dreamland right now. Hector let out a big
00:10:10
Speaker 1: yawn and said to Sandy, ooh, you'll have a wonderful
00:10:17
Speaker 1: time in dreamland. We'll come back another time and you
00:10:22
Speaker 1: can tell us all about it. Right now, I need
00:10:27
Speaker 1: a nap. All that gravy has made me very tired.
00:10:34
Speaker 1: Hector and Sonny say goodbye to the snail and the
00:10:37
Speaker 1: squirrel and jogged over to their owners. The tired dogs
00:10:43
Speaker 1: flocked to the grass and immediately fell asleep. Sandy asked
00:10:51
Speaker 1: Sydney how she would get into dreamland. Would she have
00:10:55
Speaker 1: to run into a tree as the dogs had done.
00:10:59
Speaker 1: That would take a long time, but she couldn't run
00:11:02
Speaker 1: very fast. In fact, she couldn't run at all. Sydney
00:11:08
Speaker 1: reassured her and said he had a better way for
00:11:11
Speaker 1: her to enter dreamland. He asked Sandy to pop back
00:11:16
Speaker 1: inside her shell and say dreamland three times. Sandy said,
00:11:23
Speaker 1: is it that easy? Sydney nodded. Sandy popped back into
00:11:30
Speaker 1: her shell and said the magic word three times. When
00:11:36
Speaker 1: she popped her head back out, she was in a
00:11:39
Speaker 1: different world, a world full of magic and wonder. It
00:11:46
Speaker 1: looked very much like the park she had just left,
00:11:50
Speaker 1: but it was different somehow, as if the park had
00:11:54
Speaker 1: been covered in a layer of sparkling magic, and her
00:11:58
Speaker 1: colors were much bright. Sydney was still at her side,
00:12:03
Speaker 1: and he said, you can make any dream come true here.
00:12:10
Speaker 1: All you have to do is think about your dream
00:12:16
Speaker 1: and know it will happen. When you want to return home,
00:12:20
Speaker 1: say sleepy shell three times and you'll be back. He
00:12:26
Speaker 1: grinned at her and instantly vanished. Sandy smiled gently. She
00:12:34
Speaker 1: was getting used to animals disappearing and reappearing. She looked
00:12:39
Speaker 1: around the path to see what she could do first.
00:12:44
Speaker 1: Her biggest dream was to move faster, not a lot faster,
00:12:51
Speaker 1: just enough for it to be exciting, not too exciting, though.
00:12:57
Speaker 1: Sandy saw some tortoises a short as stance away. They
00:13:02
Speaker 1: were standing on skateboards and whizzing towards the skateboard park.
00:13:09
Speaker 1: Sandy broke into a huge smile. She would love to
00:13:15
Speaker 1: go on a skateboard. She'd seen children on their colorful
00:13:19
Speaker 1: skateboards many times, performing all sorts of tricks. How would
00:13:25
Speaker 1: she get to the skateboard park, it was so far away.
00:13:33
Speaker 1: At that moment, a sparkling moving path appeared at the
00:13:39
Speaker 1: side of Sandy's rock. It wasn't moving very fast as all,
00:13:45
Speaker 1: and it wound its way towards the skateboard park. Excitement
00:13:51
Speaker 1: filled the little Snail and she knew one of her
00:13:55
Speaker 1: dreams was about to come true. Slid down the rock
00:14:01
Speaker 1: and on to the slow moving path. What a ride
00:14:07
Speaker 1: it was. Sandy had never moved so quickly in all
00:14:13
Speaker 1: her life. She laughed gleefully to herself as she was
00:14:18
Speaker 1: carried closer to the skateboard park. When the tortoises saw
00:14:25
Speaker 1: the little Snail, they helped her off the moving path
00:14:29
Speaker 1: and on to a waiting skateboard that was coincidentally the
00:14:35
Speaker 1: perfect size for Sandy. One of the tortoises said to Sandy,
00:14:42
Speaker 1: follow me and I'll show you what to do. He
00:14:48
Speaker 1: climbed onto his skateboard and told Sandy which way to
00:14:52
Speaker 1: lean if she wanted to go forwards or to the left,
00:14:57
Speaker 1: to the right, and most important, how to lean backwards
00:15:02
Speaker 1: and make the skateboard stop. Sandy leaned forward, and the
00:15:09
Speaker 1: skateboards slowly moved forward a few inches. Sandy let out
00:15:15
Speaker 1: a whoop of joy. Her board was even faster than
00:15:20
Speaker 1: the moving path. She guided her board closer to the
00:15:27
Speaker 1: sloping paths and tunnels of the skateboard park. She watched
00:15:32
Speaker 1: in amazement as the tortoises performed the same tricks that
00:15:38
Speaker 1: she'd seen children doing on previous occasions. The tortoises zipped
00:15:44
Speaker 1: back and forth across the paths, turning somersaults in the
00:15:49
Speaker 1: air and waving their arms in delight. Then they rode
00:15:55
Speaker 1: through the tunnels, turning upside down as they whooshed along.
00:16:02
Speaker 1: Sandy told the tortoises she'd never be able to do
00:16:06
Speaker 1: such stunts. The tortoises gently disagreed and showed her what
00:16:12
Speaker 1: to do. In no time at all, Sandy was twisting
00:16:20
Speaker 1: and turning along the sloping paths and whoshing through the
00:16:25
Speaker 1: tunnels like a skateboarding superstar. Her tortoise friends cheered her on.
00:16:34
Speaker 1: After a while, Sandy brought her skateboard to a stop
00:16:39
Speaker 1: and said she needed to slow down for a bit.
00:16:44
Speaker 1: She asked the tortoises if they'd ever explored the whole
00:16:48
Speaker 1: of the park, as there were areas she'd never been
00:16:51
Speaker 1: to before and she'd like to visit them one day.
00:16:57
Speaker 1: One of the tortoises suggested she stay on her skateboard
00:17:02
Speaker 1: and have a leisurely skated around the park. She could
00:17:06
Speaker 1: go wherever she wanted to, and she would see other
00:17:10
Speaker 1: animals in the magical Park, making their dreams come true
00:17:15
Speaker 1: as well. Sandy thought that was a marvelous idea. She
00:17:21
Speaker 1: said goodbye to the tortoises and leaned forward on her board.
00:17:28
Speaker 1: Off she trundled around the park. Sandy went past some
00:17:34
Speaker 1: cats who were having yoga lessons near the flower gardens.
00:17:40
Speaker 1: The cats were sitting cross legged on mats and chanting softly.
00:17:47
Speaker 1: Hearing the soothing sound made Sandy feel very peaceful. She
00:17:54
Speaker 1: continued on her journey and saw a family of frogs
00:17:59
Speaker 1: having swimming lessons in the water fountain. They were excellent
00:18:05
Speaker 1: at diving and invited Sandy to join them. Maybe later,
00:18:12
Speaker 1: Thank you, she replied, I've got a lot of exploring
00:18:17
Speaker 1: to do. First, Sandy guided her skateboard on. She'd become
00:18:26
Speaker 1: used to, going at a faster pace, not too fast, though,
00:18:32
Speaker 1: just fast enough for a snail. Sandy saw dogs kicking
00:18:38
Speaker 1: a football around in the playing fields. They were dressed
00:18:43
Speaker 1: in shorts and t shirts, and their football was a
00:18:46
Speaker 1: shiny golden color. Every time one of the dogs scored
00:18:51
Speaker 1: a goal, the other dogs would woof in delight, dance backwards,
00:18:57
Speaker 1: and wiggle their bottoms. She traveled to the far side
00:19:02
Speaker 1: of the playing fields, somewhere she'd never been to before.
00:19:08
Speaker 1: She noticed a group of rabbits bopping along to music
00:19:13
Speaker 1: coming from speakers on the ground. The dancing rabbits were
00:19:18
Speaker 1: wearing baseball hats back to front and singing along to
00:19:23
Speaker 1: the jaunty tune. Sandy stopped her skateboard at the side
00:19:29
Speaker 1: of the rabbits and asked if she could join in
00:19:33
Speaker 1: with their dancing. The bopping bunnies said yes and happily
00:19:40
Speaker 1: taught her a few moves. Sandy bopped from side to
00:19:45
Speaker 1: side and sang along to the upbeat songs. She didn't
00:19:51
Speaker 1: know the actual words of the songs, so she made
00:19:54
Speaker 1: up her own. The little snail danced with the rabbits
00:20:00
Speaker 1: for a while longer, and then said she must be
00:20:04
Speaker 1: getting on her way. The park was a huge place
00:20:10
Speaker 1: and there was still a lot of exploring to do.
00:20:16
Speaker 1: Why don't you fly over the park, one of the
00:20:20
Speaker 1: rabbits suggested, then you'll be able to see everything all
00:20:26
Speaker 1: at once. Sandy shook her head. Snails couldn't fly, or
00:20:34
Speaker 1: could they? She closed her eyes and imagined herself soaring
00:20:40
Speaker 1: above the park. She smiled, What a wonderful adventure that
00:20:46
Speaker 1: would be. Sandy opened her eyes and saw a hummingbird
00:20:52
Speaker 1: hovering in front of her. The hummingbird smiled at Sandy
00:20:58
Speaker 1: and said, Hi, eh, my name is Nectar. Are you
00:21:03
Speaker 1: ready to fly? Would you like to fly with me
00:21:07
Speaker 1: over the park? Sandy said, I would like that very much.
00:21:14
Speaker 1: But how did you know I wanted to fly? Nectar
00:21:19
Speaker 1: grinned and replied, because you've got wings. I've never seen
00:21:26
Speaker 1: a snail with wings before, so I thought you must
00:21:30
Speaker 1: be the kind of snail who flies. I don't have wings,
00:21:37
Speaker 1: Sandy said. She looked behind her. To her surprise and delight,
00:21:43
Speaker 1: she saw a pair of silver wings on her shell.
00:21:47
Speaker 1: Her wings fluttered gently. Sandy told the hummingbird as she'd
00:21:55
Speaker 1: never flown before and she didn't know what to do
00:21:58
Speaker 1: with her wings. Nectar smiled kindly and said, I will
00:22:06
Speaker 1: help you. Just do what I do and we'll soon
00:22:10
Speaker 1: be off. We won't fly too high or too fast.
00:22:16
Speaker 1: Are you ready? Sandy wasn't sure she was ready for
00:22:21
Speaker 1: her first flight at all, but she bravely told Nectar
00:22:26
Speaker 1: she was. She copied the friendly humming bird and flapped
00:22:32
Speaker 1: her new wings. She rose smoothly off the skateboard and
00:22:38
Speaker 1: fluttered above it. What an amazing feeling it was. She
00:22:44
Speaker 1: soared over the park, not too high and not too fast,
00:22:51
Speaker 1: just high enough and fast enough for a snail. The
00:22:56
Speaker 1: park looked very different to Sandy from up high. It
00:23:01
Speaker 1: was even larger than she'd ever imagined. With her new
00:23:06
Speaker 1: friend right next to her, Sandy began to explore the
00:23:11
Speaker 1: park in its many areas. The snail and the hummingbird
00:23:19
Speaker 1: flew over the outdoor cafe and the large lake at
00:23:23
Speaker 1: the side of it. Swans glided across the lake and
00:23:29
Speaker 1: flapped their wings in greeting to the flying snail. Sandy
00:23:36
Speaker 1: and Nectar flew over the ornamental gardens and saw beautiful
00:23:43
Speaker 1: marble statues and immaculate rows of herbs and heathers arranged
00:23:49
Speaker 1: in circles. Sandy began to feel more confident about her
00:23:56
Speaker 1: flying skills and rose higher and high. The park became smaller.
00:24:03
Speaker 1: Beneath her, the hummingbird asked if she would like to
00:24:09
Speaker 1: fly away from the park and explore the world a
00:24:13
Speaker 1: little further. Sandy didn't know what to say. She had
00:24:20
Speaker 1: never left the park before, but what an adventure it
00:24:24
Speaker 1: would be to see more of the world. She told
00:24:29
Speaker 1: Nectar she would love to do that. The two friends
00:24:35
Speaker 1: flew away from the park and over many places they
00:24:40
Speaker 1: were all new to the little snail. Nectar helpfully explained
00:24:47
Speaker 1: what the areas were. To Sandy, she was totally amazed
00:24:53
Speaker 1: when she saw the cars and buses driving along the roads.
00:24:59
Speaker 1: She didn't know so anything could possibly move that fast.
00:25:06
Speaker 1: Just when she thought she couldn't see anything more amazing,
00:25:11
Speaker 1: Nectar waved his wing at some buildings below them and
00:25:17
Speaker 1: said they were houses and people lived inside them. Doesn't
00:25:26
Speaker 1: anyone live in a shell like me? She asked. When
00:25:31
Speaker 1: Nectar said no, Sandy said they were missing out because
00:25:37
Speaker 1: her shell was so very cozy and snug, especially at nighttime.
00:25:44
Speaker 1: The thought of nighttime made her yawn. Nector noticed and
00:25:49
Speaker 1: suggested they returned to the ground for a rest. He
00:25:54
Speaker 1: guided the little snail back to the park. When they landed,
00:26:02
Speaker 1: Sandy thanked Nectar for helping her to fly and said
00:26:06
Speaker 1: she'd had enough flying for one day. As soon as
00:26:13
Speaker 1: she said the words, her silver wings disappeared. Nector said,
00:26:20
Speaker 1: it's been a pleasure to meet you, Sandy. I hope
00:26:24
Speaker 1: we can fly together again one day. He said good
00:26:28
Speaker 1: bye and flew away. Sandy yawned again. She was tired,
00:26:37
Speaker 1: but not quite ready for her sleep just yet. Over
00:26:43
Speaker 1: the summer, she had seen people having picnics and parties
00:26:48
Speaker 1: in the park, and one of her dreams was to
00:26:52
Speaker 1: attend such a celebration. Out of nowhere, a fluffy bee
00:26:58
Speaker 1: appeared at her side, wearing a black tunic with tiny
00:27:04
Speaker 1: yellow sunflowers on it. Hallo, there are you, Sandy the snail.
00:27:13
Speaker 1: Sandy said she was. The bee continued, you are invited
00:27:19
Speaker 1: to the Snail's Twilight Ball this evening, which will take
00:27:23
Speaker 1: place behind the rose Garden. Would you like to go? Oh? Yes,
00:27:30
Speaker 1: very much, Sandy replied. Do I need to bring anything. No,
00:27:37
Speaker 1: not at all. The bee replied, would you like me
00:27:41
Speaker 1: to paint your shell for the party. Many snails are
00:27:46
Speaker 1: having their shells painted for the evening. I work at
00:27:50
Speaker 1: the beauty salon behind you and can fit you in
00:27:54
Speaker 1: right now. Sandy look behind her. She wasn't the least
00:28:01
Speaker 1: bit surprised to see a small building nestling in the
00:28:06
Speaker 1: grass that hadn't been there before. The building was in
00:28:11
Speaker 1: the shape of a shell. She said thank you to
00:28:15
Speaker 1: the bee and followed her into the shell shaped salon.
00:28:20
Speaker 1: The bee took Sandy over to a line of snail
00:28:24
Speaker 1: varnish in bottles and asked what color she would like.
00:28:29
Speaker 1: Sandy couldn't decide and asked if she could have all
00:28:33
Speaker 1: of them please. The bee said, of course, and asked
00:28:39
Speaker 1: Sandy to take a seat next to the dewdrop drink
00:28:43
Speaker 1: station where she could help herself to a refreshing drink.
00:28:49
Speaker 1: Sandy glided over to the seat and settled down into it.
00:28:55
Speaker 1: She had a sip of cucumber flavored liquid and sighed happily.
00:29:02
Speaker 1: The bee buzzed busily around Sandy and varnished her shell
00:29:08
Speaker 1: in a beautiful collidoscope of colors. She topped it off
00:29:14
Speaker 1: with a light layer of shimmering glitter. When she'd finished,
00:29:20
Speaker 1: the bee said Sandy looked amazing and had a sparkle
00:29:25
Speaker 1: about her, not just on her shell, but in her
00:29:28
Speaker 1: eyes too. Sandy smiled and said, I do feel very
00:29:36
Speaker 1: happy and sparkly. I'm having a wonderful day in dreamland.
00:29:42
Speaker 1: Thank you for the snail varnish. Your wonderful day isn't
00:29:48
Speaker 1: over yet, The bee reminded Sandy, please go outside. There's
00:29:55
Speaker 1: a carriage waiting for you. It will take you to
00:29:59
Speaker 1: the party. Have a marvelous time with a buzz. The
00:30:06
Speaker 1: bee flew away and over to her next customer. Sandy
00:30:12
Speaker 1: glided across the floor of the salon and out of
00:30:16
Speaker 1: the open door. The sky had turned darker and stars
00:30:22
Speaker 1: twinkled brightly above the little snail. The little carriage was
00:30:28
Speaker 1: waiting for her. It was the perfect size for a snail.
00:30:36
Speaker 1: Six twinkling fireflies were tied to the carriage by ribbons.
00:30:42
Speaker 1: They told Sandy to climb into the carriage and they
00:30:46
Speaker 1: would fly her over to the party area. One of
00:30:51
Speaker 1: the fireflies asked if she was okay with flying. Oh. Yes,
00:30:58
Speaker 1: Sandy replied with a huge grin on her face. I'm
00:31:03
Speaker 1: quite the expert at flying these days. Thank you for
00:31:07
Speaker 1: the lift. She got into the carriage and settled down
00:31:13
Speaker 1: on a silver velvet cushion. The fireflies rose into the
00:31:19
Speaker 1: darkening sky, pulling the carriage behind them. The full moon
00:31:27
Speaker 1: appeared from behind a wispy cloud and cast dancing moonbeams
00:31:33
Speaker 1: across the park. The carriage soon arrived at the party area,
00:31:40
Speaker 1: and the fireflies brought it to a smooth landing on
00:31:45
Speaker 1: the soft grass. Sandy gracefully slid out of the carriage,
00:31:53
Speaker 1: feeling very special in her shell of many colors. The
00:31:59
Speaker 1: party air was busy with snails of many sizes and colors.
00:32:06
Speaker 1: There were even some African snails who were absolutely huge.
00:32:13
Speaker 1: Most of the guests were wearing layers of varnish, just
00:32:18
Speaker 1: like Sandy. Sandy recognized some of the snails and said
00:32:24
Speaker 1: hello to them, and though she didn't know, she soon
00:32:29
Speaker 1: made friends with. The party was much much more magical
00:32:37
Speaker 1: than Sandy had ever imagined. The food was the most
00:32:42
Speaker 1: delicious she'd ever eaten, The music was upbeat and cheerful,
00:32:50
Speaker 1: and the dancing was at the ideal pace to suit
00:32:55
Speaker 1: every snail. Most of all, the company was perfect, just
00:33:04
Speaker 1: perfect and Sandy talked and laughed, danced and sang with
00:33:11
Speaker 1: her new friends. Her heart overflowed with love and joy.
00:33:18
Speaker 1: She knew she would remember the magical night forever. All
00:33:26
Speaker 1: too soon it was time to go home. Some snails
00:33:32
Speaker 1: said asleepy good night and glided away through the grass.
00:33:39
Speaker 1: Some decided to stay where they were and popped back
00:33:44
Speaker 1: into their shells and promptly fell asleep. Sandy wanted to
00:33:51
Speaker 1: return to the park where she had started her adventure.
00:33:56
Speaker 1: She couldn't wait to tell her friends or all about it,
00:34:02
Speaker 1: especially Hector and Sonny. She said goodbye to her sleepy friends,
00:34:10
Speaker 1: closed her eyes and said, sleepy shell, sleepy shell, sleepy shell.
00:34:21
Speaker 1: A second later, Sandy opened her eyes. She was back
00:34:28
Speaker 1: on her favorite rock in her beloved park. She yawned
00:34:36
Speaker 1: and yawned. She'd had so many adventures that day, and
00:34:43
Speaker 1: she was ready for an early night. She would tell
00:34:48
Speaker 1: her friends about her adventures in the morning. Sandy moved
00:34:55
Speaker 1: over to a small crack in the rock, settled down
00:35:01
Speaker 1: into a hole that was the perfect size for a snail.
00:35:09
Speaker 1: She sighed, happily, closed her eyes, and retreated into her
00:35:16
Speaker 1: cozy snug shell. Sandy fell into a deep, deep, sleep
00:35:27
Speaker 1: and began to dream new dreams.
