[00:03:30] Good evening, Charlie. Good evening, Charlie. Wow. Sounds like a brilliant place for our camping trip. Right. All we have to do is find a nice big clearing with the comfiest ground and the sparkliest stars. Shall we go find one? Yep. Let's go. Okay. Okay. I've just got to get ready. Okay.
[00:04:00] Okay. Ready. Uh, wait, how do we get there? What you have to do is close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and use your imagination. Here we are. This place is beautiful.
[00:04:55] This place is beautiful. Thanks, Charlie. I'm so tall. It's like they're touching the sky. Abby, shall we try stretching up to touch the sky? You don't have to do it the way I do. I take my arms all the way above my head and wriggle my fingers as high as they can get. It's like I'm tickling the moon.
[00:05:20] I feel like I can almost reach it. Ooh, I feel like I'm tickling the moon too. Amazing. I think I can hear him laughing. Good tickling. I always think the grass here is extra special too. You feel how it's all springy and soft?
[00:05:49] Yes, it feels all squishy under my feet. I'm rocking forwards and backwards, moving the balance from my heels to my toes. Back and forth from my heels to my toes. Ooh, it's so soft. Do you want to join me? Heels, toes.
[00:06:18] Heels, toes. It's lovely. Shall we touch the grass with our hands? That's a great idea. Starting from our heads, moving our chins to our chest and slowly rolling forwards.
[00:06:42] Let your arms go all floppy in front of you and slowly let the weight of your head take you all the way down. I'm touching the grass. Oh, it smells so fresh. And feels so soft. Let's roll back up slowly, slowly.
[00:07:12] And the last thing to arrive back at the top is our heads. Now I think we should climb up Sugar Lump Hill. It'll be the perfect place to set up camp. The views are spectacular. Up, up, up we go. Follow the river. Oh, just be quiet as we pass this dam. Buck the beaver will be sleeping already.
[00:07:42] Put all of our weight onto our toes, lifting our heels up and then slowly take the quietest. I love tiptoeing.
[00:08:11] Have you ever tried tiptoeing with your hands? Moving from the heel of your palm to the top of your fingertips. It's like a wave inside your hand. A wave in my hand? Oh yeah! I'm using my hands to step into the air around me. Tiptoe. Tiptoe.
[00:08:44] Are we nearly at the top? You can tell because the trees are getting thinner. You see that one? That's a cherry tree. Next to it's apples and those vines over there grow grapes and kiwis. Oh, I love kiwis. Voila! The perfect camp spot. Wow, I can see the sea from here.
[00:09:14] And all those trees stretching out towards it. It's like a whole carpet of green. This is one of the most relaxing places in sleepy forest. Let's set up camp. I'll set up the camping chairs. And with a little sleepy forest magic... Oof! There's the campfire. Let's get cosy in our chairs.
[00:09:43] The fire really is lovely, isn't it? It is. I love the way the sparks kind of hop from the kindling as the wood pops and crackles. It's so full of energy. All flickering flames and glowing embers. And then, when a spark frees itself and pops off the fire, it drifts so delicately in the air.
[00:10:11] There, they're so peaceful. Like little fireflies just balancing on the wind. It's like the flames of me in the day. All full of energy and bright. Moving and dancing all around. But then the sparks... That's me now, at bedtime. All soft and slow and sleepy.
[00:10:41] I brought a surprise. Is that... Marshmallows! Yep! What's camping without marshmallows toasted over the fire? Here you are. I love the way the flames tickle up around it and the marshmallows go all soft and gooey. I feel kind of gooey like a marshmallow right now, actually.
[00:11:09] All wrapped up warm in my chair. Shall we melt like marshmallows? I'm gently bubbling in my seat like I'm getting hotter and hotter. And I'm melting! My arms are going all soft and floppy. My legs are melting!
[00:11:37] My chest is also melting. My face is feeling all melting. I feel so gooey. My tongue is melting. Yum! Hey Charlie.
[00:12:07] All this sleepy forest magic is making me snoozy. But I'm a little bit worried about sleeping out here in the forest. Don't worry Charlie. The first time sleeping away from home can be scary. But I promise you, drifting off in a sleepy forest is magical. I'm going to get into my sleeping bag and get all cozy and tucked in like a burrito. Good idea.
[00:12:37] I'll get into my sleeping bag. I like to lie down on my back. I feel like a little glow worm. You look like a little glow worm. Should we shuffle and stretch like worms in our sleeping bags? I'm squeezing my body, making it as tight as possible.
[00:13:04] And then releasing and going all floppy and shuffling around. I'm going to do it on my belly. Squee-sing. Shuffling. Squee-sing. Squee-sing. Squee-sing. Releasing. And shuffling.
[00:13:34] Shuffling. Ah, snug as a bug in a rug. Favourite thing about camping is seeing all the stars. I've never seen so many. Have you ever counted how many there are? Shall we give it a go?
[00:14:04] One, three, seven...
[00:14:38] Do you still have your eyes open, Charlie? Sorry, Abby. It felt too heavy. I couldn't help it. We don't have to count anymore. Let's just listen to the sounds of the forest instead. Hmm. You hear the wind whispering through the trees? It's singing us a lullaby, I think.
[00:15:08] And the brook. Can you hear that through the trees? Just close your eyes and picture the water running over smooth stones. It sounds so gentle. The only thing drifting down its waters might be the sleeping otters, paw and paw in their sleepy little conga line.
[00:15:33] If we're really quiet, for a little while we might just hear something special. One of the nocturnal animals. Like an owl, maybe. Or Betty Badger, off on her way to start work at the bakery. Listen. Is that an owl? Yes. Let's see what else we can hear.
[00:16:03] Just breathe in and out. Steady as can be. And focus on the sounds of the forest. Breathe in. And hear rustling leaves. And breathe out. Blowing cool air like the breeze. Breathe in. And hear rustling leaves. And hear rustling leaves.
