Speaker 1: Hi, and welcome back to Coco Sleep, a podcast of

00:00:14

Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime

00:00:20

Speaker 1: a dream. Firstly, and most importantly, Coco and I would

00:00:25

Speaker 1: like to give a warm welcome and shout out to

00:00:27

Speaker 1: our newest members of the Coco Club. Thank you for

00:00:30

Speaker 1: joining us. Jaya and Suri, Clara, Chloe and Tristan, Luna

00:00:35

Speaker 1: and Leah, Elliot, Murph and Leroy, Luna, Evening Star and Papsuki,

00:00:43

Speaker 1: Emily from Queenstown, Mona and John, Dustin and Flynn and

00:00:49

Speaker 1: Grace and Elliott. It's so great that you've all joined us.

00:00:53

Speaker 1: What a huge list that was. So enjoy listening to

00:00:56

Speaker 1: hundreds of new stories from now on, plus all the

00:01:00

Speaker 1: new ones that are coming your way too. Tonight, we're

00:01:04

Speaker 1: entering the land of superheroes again with Super Saul, and

00:01:08

Speaker 1: it's full of surprises. It will soon become clear that

00:01:12

Speaker 1: not all heroes wear capes and brightly colored costumes, and

00:01:16

Speaker 1: many of them walk amongst us all the time. In fact,

00:01:21

Speaker 1: there might be one sitting right next to you right now.

00:01:24

Speaker 1: Have you ever wondered what your grandparents were like when

00:01:27

Speaker 1: they were younger? Have you ever asked them what the

00:01:30

Speaker 1: most exciting thing they've ever done is In tonight's story,

00:01:34

Speaker 1: Super Saul, as we know him, learns things about his

00:01:37

Speaker 1: grandparents that he never knew before. During this story, it

00:01:42

Speaker 1: becomes clear to him that his very own grandpa is

00:01:46

Speaker 1: something of a superhero himself. Let's find out how. Snuggle

00:01:52

Speaker 1: down in your bed and find your comfiest spot, Perhaps

00:01:56

Speaker 1: flap the blankets around a bit and wriggle until you're

00:01:59

Speaker 1: ready to be still, and then take some nice deep breaths.

00:02:06

Speaker 1: That's it, Breathe in and out. Maybe even have a

00:02:13

Speaker 1: little sigh on your next outbreath. Hmm, there we are.

00:02:22

Speaker 1: Now close your eyes as I begin. Super Saul's Super

00:02:29

Speaker 1: Grandpa by Alicia Ainslie. At first glance, Saul You Sorrow

00:02:41

Speaker 1: appears to be just like any other normal eight year

00:02:44

Speaker 1: old child. However, when you dive deeper and get to

00:02:49

Speaker 1: know Saul, you learn something absolutely amazing about him. Saul

00:02:55

Speaker 1: You Sorrow is a superhero. Saul his lots of unbelievable

00:03:02

Speaker 1: magical abilities. They're so incredible that most people wouldn't believe

00:03:06

Speaker 1: it if you told them. The adults certainly don't believe it,

00:03:10

Speaker 1: so Saul hides away his superhuman powers from them, but

00:03:14

Speaker 1: the other children know, children know what Saul can do.

00:03:19

Speaker 1: Saul has a number of powerful abilities that keep growing

00:03:24

Speaker 1: and developing as he gets older. So far, he can

00:03:28

Speaker 1: see through walls with his X ray vision and run

00:03:32

Speaker 1: at the speed of light. He has super hearing and

00:03:36

Speaker 1: can hear a pin drum far away, and he can

00:03:40

Speaker 1: even manipulate plants and flowers to bloom and grow as

00:03:45

Speaker 1: he pleases. On top of all this, he has a

00:03:49

Speaker 1: super elasticated body, so he can stretch his arms out

00:03:53

Speaker 1: as far as he needs to reach what he wants.

00:03:56

Speaker 1: It all sounds pretty amazing, doesn't it. Yes, Saul is

00:04:01

Speaker 1: an incredible child with incredible magical abilities. But despite all

00:04:06

Speaker 1: the amazing things that make him very unique, there are

00:04:11

Speaker 1: still aspects about him that make him the same as

00:04:14

Speaker 1: other children his age. He still enjoys doing lots of

00:04:19

Speaker 1: things at other kids his age like to do. He

00:04:22

Speaker 1: loves playing at the park with his friends and watching

00:04:25

Speaker 1: movies at the cinema. He adores playing board games and

00:04:29

Speaker 1: participating in several weekend activity clubs like football and drama,

00:04:35

Speaker 1: and in the school holidays, he always looks forward to

00:04:39

Speaker 1: visiting his family, whom he doesn't get to see regularly.

00:04:43

Speaker 1: Saul and his parents live in England, across the country

00:04:46

Speaker 1: from his Grandpa Gus and Grandma Suzi, so during the

00:04:51

Speaker 1: school holidays they drive to visit them and spend some

00:04:54

Speaker 1: quality time together. Saul really enjoys visiting his grandparents. His

00:05:01

Speaker 1: grandma always makes lots of cakes and sweet treats ready

00:05:05

Speaker 1: for their arrival and affectionately fusses over Saul as soon

00:05:09

Speaker 1: as he arrives. Meanwhile, his Grandpappy is a quiet and

00:05:14

Speaker 1: reserved man, but he is still very kind and attentive

00:05:19

Speaker 1: and asks Saul lots of questions about how Schorled and

00:05:24

Speaker 1: his clubs are going. Whenever they would visit, Saul and

00:05:28

Speaker 1: his Grandpappy would kick a ball around the back garden

00:05:31

Speaker 1: for hours together, but Saul would always be careful not

00:05:35

Speaker 1: to let his magical abilities slip. Sometimes it could be

00:05:40

Speaker 1: easy to forget to keep his powers a secret when

00:05:43

Speaker 1: he was relaxed and having fun. So when the half

00:05:48

Speaker 1: term holidays rolled around again, Saul and his parents packed

00:05:52

Speaker 1: up the car and drove across the country to visit

00:05:55

Speaker 1: Grandpa Gus and Grandma Susy. Despite white Grandpa Gus and

00:06:01

Speaker 1: Grandma Susie growing up and living in America with Saul's

00:06:04

Speaker 1: mother for many years. They now lived in Cornwall in England,

00:06:09

Speaker 1: in a cozy bungalow by the sea. Every time Saul

00:06:14

Speaker 1: and his parents visited Grandpa Gus and Grandma Susie, he

00:06:18

Speaker 1: felt like a little vacation in another country. The weather

00:06:23

Speaker 1: was always beautiful and sunny, and the beaches were full

00:06:27

Speaker 1: of surfers riding the waves. It was a long drive

00:06:32

Speaker 1: to Cornwall, but Saul read books and sang along to

00:06:35

Speaker 1: the radio with his parents to pass the time. When

00:06:39

Speaker 1: they finally arrived at Saul's grandparents beautiful blue bungalow, they

00:06:45

Speaker 1: were greeted with big hugs and Gus and Susie's familiar

00:06:50

Speaker 1: friendly voices. Everyone was so happy to see each other again.

00:06:56

Speaker 1: As soon as Saul and his grandparents had brought their

00:06:59

Speaker 1: bags inside, Grandma Susie unveiled an array of cakes and

00:07:04

Speaker 1: biscuits that she had freshly baked for their arrival. Saul's

00:07:09

Speaker 1: eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. Seeing his delighted expression,

00:07:15

Speaker 1: Saul's mother whispered, you can only have one thing right now, Saul,

00:07:21

Speaker 1: otherwise you won't have space for dinner. Saul nodded his head,

00:07:28

Speaker 1: but was secretly disappointed. She wanted to eat everything right now,

00:07:34

Speaker 1: it all looked so tasty. He opted for a big

00:07:38

Speaker 1: chocolate chip cookie, and Grandma Susy poured him a glass

00:07:42

Speaker 1: of milk to pair with it. The family caught up

00:07:46

Speaker 1: on what they'd all been up to lately, and Grandpa

00:07:49

Speaker 1: Gas asked Saul his usual questions about how school was

00:07:54

Speaker 1: and how football practice was going. Saul told him all

00:07:59

Speaker 1: about his achievements, but he chose to leave out the

00:08:03

Speaker 1: parts where he used his superpowers for good. His Grandpapy

00:08:08

Speaker 1: would never believe that he was a superhero and had

00:08:11

Speaker 1: magical powers. The next few days went by and Saul

00:08:17

Speaker 1: enjoyed the usual delights of visiting his grandparents. They all

00:08:21

Speaker 1: went to the beach and ate scrumptious cornish ice cream

00:08:25

Speaker 1: while building sand castles and watching the surfers glide across

00:08:30

Speaker 1: the waters. They relaxed and played football in the garden,

00:08:35

Speaker 1: and Saul helped his grandma with the gardening. Little did

00:08:40

Speaker 1: she know that the reason her hydrangers had bloomed so

00:08:44

Speaker 1: wonderfully was thanks to Saul's secret powers. And every evening

00:08:51

Speaker 1: they had a big, delicious dinner all together. Saul loved

00:08:56

Speaker 1: grandma and Grandpa's food, and he helped out by laying

00:09:01

Speaker 1: the table with cutlery and placements every night. Saul's time

00:09:07

Speaker 1: at his grandparents' house was as lovely as always, and

00:09:11

Speaker 1: he was doing a great job of keeping his powers

00:09:14

Speaker 1: as secret from everyone. On the third day, Saul was

00:09:20

Speaker 1: sitting at the dining table as his grandma and mother

00:09:23

Speaker 1: chatted over a cup of tea. He had just finished

00:09:27

Speaker 1: eating the last crumb of a delicious lemon cake his

00:09:30

Speaker 1: grandma had made. When he started drawing, Saul liked to draw,

00:09:36

Speaker 1: and on this occasion, he had decided to doodle a

00:09:39

Speaker 1: picture of a superhero. The superhero had spiky black hair

00:09:45

Speaker 1: similar to Saul's, curly black locks, and freckles across its

00:09:49

Speaker 1: face too, just like Saul. Similar to Saul, the imaginary's

00:09:54

Speaker 1: superhero wore bright red shorts instead of lycratites, and trainers

00:09:59

Speaker 1: on its feet with a lightning bolt on the side

00:10:02

Speaker 1: to hint at their super speed. Lastly, he drew a

00:10:07

Speaker 1: black mask across their face with a blue cape billowing

00:10:11

Speaker 1: out behind them. Anyone overlooking would think that Saul was

00:10:15

Speaker 1: drawing a self portrait. Noticing that Saul was beavering away

00:10:22

Speaker 1: over his picture, Grandma admired his handiwork. That looks very good, Saul.

00:10:30

Speaker 1: She encouraged him. You know, if you like superheroes, then

00:10:36

Speaker 1: you should ask your grandpa about his days in the

00:10:39

Speaker 1: Armed forces. Your grandpa was somewhat of a superhero himself.

00:10:47

Speaker 1: Saul's ears pricked up at this new information. His grandpappy

00:10:52

Speaker 1: was a superhero. He had to know more. Excusing himself

00:10:58

Speaker 1: from the table, sauw Paul disappeared off in search of

00:11:02

Speaker 1: his grandpa. Saul wandered through the house and found his

00:11:07

Speaker 1: Grandpappy sitting in his armchair in the living room reading

00:11:11

Speaker 1: his newspaper. As Saul walked in, Grandpa Gus looked up

00:11:16

Speaker 1: from the page he was reading and smiled, Hey, little guy,

00:11:22

Speaker 1: Grandpa Gus greeted him. Did you like or Grandma's cake?

00:11:28

Speaker 1: Saul replied that he had very much enjoyed it, but

00:11:31

Speaker 1: he had something else pressing on his mind. Grandpa Saul began.

00:11:38

Speaker 1: Grandma said that you are a superhero. What does she mean?

00:11:46

Speaker 1: Maybe Grandpa Gus possessed the same enchanted abilities as Saul did.

00:11:52

Speaker 1: Grandpa Gus chuckled and replied, oh, she did, now, did she? Well,

00:12:01

Speaker 1: I assume she must be referring to my time in

00:12:05

Speaker 1: the United States Air Force. Saul was intrigued. Was that

00:12:12

Speaker 1: the name of a league of superheroes? What is the

00:12:17

Speaker 1: United States Air Force? Saul asked. Grandpa pushed himself up

00:12:23

Speaker 1: from his armchair and wandered over to the big wooden

00:12:27

Speaker 1: dresser on the other side of the living room. There

00:12:30

Speaker 1: were all sorts of framed photos on there that Saul

00:12:34

Speaker 1: often liked to look at. There were pictures of his

00:12:38

Speaker 1: mother when she was a child just like him, and

00:12:41

Speaker 1: of Grandpa and Grandma when they were younger too. There

00:12:45

Speaker 1: was a photograph from Saul's parents wedding day, and also

00:12:50

Speaker 1: of him when he was a baby. There were photos

00:12:54

Speaker 1: of his cousins as well, and some of Grandma and

00:12:58

Speaker 1: Grandpa's friends. But Saul had never been able to see

00:13:03

Speaker 1: what the photos on the top shelf were off He

00:13:06

Speaker 1: wasn't tall enough to see yet. Grandpa Gus reached up

00:13:12

Speaker 1: and pulled a silver photo frame down from the top

00:13:15

Speaker 1: shelf of the dresser and lowered it to Saul to

00:13:18

Speaker 1: take a look at. The photo was of a young

00:13:22

Speaker 1: man in a navy blue suit and cap, standing in

00:13:26

Speaker 1: front of a huge silver airplane in the background. Who

00:13:32

Speaker 1: is this, Saul asked, inspecting the photo. Grandpa Guss answered,

00:13:40

Speaker 1: but me, when I was a young man in the

00:13:43

Speaker 1: Air Force. That was the plane that I flew. Saul

00:13:49

Speaker 1: gasped with awe Grandpa could fly planes. Saul wished he

00:13:56

Speaker 1: could fly. That was one magical path that he hadn't developed,

00:14:02

Speaker 1: at least not yet anyway. Grandpa Gus explained that when

00:14:08

Speaker 1: he was seventeen years old he signed up to join

00:14:11

Speaker 1: the Air Force. He was picked out from hundreds of

00:14:15

Speaker 1: applicants to be put through the rigorous training that was

00:14:18

Speaker 1: required to fly the majestic planes belonging to the United

00:14:22

Speaker 1: States Armed Forces. Once he had passed all his training

00:14:27

Speaker 1: and learned to fly, he was in the Air Force

00:14:30

Speaker 1: for over twenty years. Saul was awestruck. He had never

00:14:36

Speaker 1: known this about his grandpappy. He had never really thought

00:14:41

Speaker 1: much about what Grandpa was like when he was a

00:14:43

Speaker 1: young man. Gazing at the framed photograph in his hand,

00:14:49

Speaker 1: Saul felt like he was looking into the past. His

00:14:54

Speaker 1: Grandpa looked so different to what he was like now.

00:14:58

Speaker 1: He was barely recognizable with it out, his gray hair

00:15:01

Speaker 1: and beard in the photo. His grandpa had black hair

00:15:06

Speaker 1: and a clean shaven face. He stood tall and proud

00:15:11

Speaker 1: in front of the airplane, without a walking stick in

00:15:14

Speaker 1: his hand like he sometimes used nowadays. Saul looked at

00:15:19

Speaker 1: his grandpa and asked, what did you do in the

00:15:24

Speaker 1: Air Force? Grandpa Gus gestured to Saul to sit down

00:15:30

Speaker 1: on the sofa with him while he recounted his youth

00:15:34

Speaker 1: and times in the armed forces. Grandpa Gus found an

00:15:40

Speaker 1: old photo album that was full of photographs from when

00:15:43

Speaker 1: he was younger and worked in the United States Air Force.

00:15:47

Speaker 1: He showed Saul pictures of him and his platoon, which

00:15:51

Speaker 1: was another name for a group of people who worked

00:15:54

Speaker 1: together in a team. Grandpa Gus record his time in

00:15:59

Speaker 1: the Air Force fondly and told Saul all about the

00:16:03

Speaker 1: tasks and missions they would be sent on. He said

00:16:08

Speaker 1: that his favorite place in the world was up in

00:16:11

Speaker 1: the sky. As Saul and his grandpa flicked through the

00:16:16

Speaker 1: photo album and inspected each of the pictures, Saul noticed

00:16:22

Speaker 1: someone that stood out to him. That man there looks familiar,

00:16:29

Speaker 1: Saul said, conspiratorially, pointing at a man with red hair

00:16:33

Speaker 1: standing next to young Grandpa in the photo. Grandpa Gus

00:16:38

Speaker 1: chuckled and replied, yes, he will look familiar to you.

00:16:44

Speaker 1: That is my good friend Bob, who you've met before.

00:16:49

Speaker 1: We trained and worked together all those years ago. Saul

00:16:56

Speaker 1: grinned with pride at his successful observation and tried to

00:17:00

Speaker 1: see if he recognized anyone else in the photo, but

00:17:05

Speaker 1: alas he didn't. Grandpa Gus showed Saul some photos of

00:17:11

Speaker 1: the different aeroplanes that he flew in the Air Force

00:17:14

Speaker 1: and told him how each one was different to the others,

00:17:18

Speaker 1: so he always had to keep learning. He had even

00:17:22

Speaker 1: learned how to fix the aeroplanes, although the really tricky

00:17:27

Speaker 1: stuff was left to the engineers to deal with. When

00:17:32

Speaker 1: they came to the end of the photo album, Grandpa

00:17:35

Speaker 1: Gus had an idea. He rifled through the cupboard underneath

00:17:40

Speaker 1: the wooden dresser and pulled out a dusty black box.

00:17:45

Speaker 1: What's that, Saul questioned, and Grandpa Gus told him to

00:17:50

Speaker 1: wait and see. Grandpa sat down again on the sofa

00:17:55

Speaker 1: and brushed the dust off the top of the box.

00:17:58

Speaker 1: He opened the latch that secured the box shut with

00:18:01

Speaker 1: a click and opened it up wide. Saul peered over

00:18:07

Speaker 1: his shoulder to look inside and exclaimed wow as he

00:18:13

Speaker 1: saw what Grandpa had inside the box was an array

00:18:18

Speaker 1: of gold and silver medals with multicolored ribbons attached. What

00:18:25

Speaker 1: are all these for? Saul ac quizzed his grandpa, eager

00:18:30

Speaker 1: to know more. Grandpa Gas explained that each medal was

00:18:35

Speaker 1: for a different thing. He had been awarded them all

00:18:40

Speaker 1: throughout his career in the Air Force. Grandpa Gas must

00:18:45

Speaker 1: have been very brave to have received so many medals,

00:18:48

Speaker 1: Saul thought. Reaching down, Grandpa lifted out a gold medal

00:18:55

Speaker 1: in the shape of a cross with an eagle in

00:18:57

Speaker 1: the middle of it. It was a hashed to a red,

00:19:01

Speaker 1: white and blue ribbon, and Grandpa admired it proudly. This one,

00:19:09

Speaker 1: Grandpa said, This one is the Earth Force Cross. Not

00:19:15

Speaker 1: everybody gets this award, but I did for possessing valor, courage,

00:19:22

Speaker 1: and devotion to my duty. Saul was fascinated. It was

00:19:29

Speaker 1: becoming clear to Saul that Grandpa Gas wasn't a superhero

00:19:34

Speaker 1: with magical abilities, but a hero in other ways. As

00:19:40

Speaker 1: Grandpa Gas took a trip down memory lane recalling his

00:19:44

Speaker 1: time in the Air Force, he wanted to tell Saul

00:19:48

Speaker 1: more and more now that he was on a roll

00:19:52

Speaker 1: together they pulled out a couple more boxes and photo

00:19:55

Speaker 1: albums hidden away in the living room dresser. Inside there

00:20:00

Speaker 1: were newspaper clippings and Grandpa's official certificates and documents, along

00:20:06

Speaker 1: with more photos of Grandpa as he progressed through his

00:20:10

Speaker 1: career and got older. Saul noticed in one of the

00:20:15

Speaker 1: photos that Grandpa was standing with a pair of crutches

00:20:19

Speaker 1: and a bandaged up foot. He wondered how he had

00:20:22

Speaker 1: hurt his foot. Perhaps there was an exciting story behind it.

00:20:28

Speaker 1: Saul pointed out the photo to his Grandpappy, and he

00:20:32

Speaker 1: smiled fondly, as if lost in a pleasant memory. Do

00:20:39

Speaker 1: you want to know the story behind this photograph, Grandpa

00:20:44

Speaker 1: Gus posed to Saul. Saul nodded his head with interest,

00:20:49

Speaker 1: and Grandpa Gus began to tell his story. One time,

00:20:55

Speaker 1: he said, I got injured on the job. Aye had

00:21:00

Speaker 1: been a sign to fly over an off limits airspace

00:21:03

Speaker 1: to assess the area. When my plane started to malfunction,

00:21:08

Speaker 1: my signals were off and my warning lights were flashing,

00:21:12

Speaker 1: So to stay safe, I ejected myself from the plane,

00:21:17

Speaker 1: shot up into the sky, and pulled the cord on

00:21:20

Speaker 1: my back to release the parachute. I glided to the

00:21:25

Speaker 1: ground safely. However, when I landed, I fell and twisted

00:21:30

Speaker 1: my ankle, so I had to be taken to the

00:21:33

Speaker 1: military hospital to have my ankle tended to so that

00:21:37

Speaker 1: it would get better. While I was in the military hospital,

00:21:41

Speaker 1: there was a very kind nurse who looked after me.

00:21:45

Speaker 1: She wrapped my ankle and foot up in bandages and

00:21:49

Speaker 1: gave me a pair of crutches to hobble around on

00:21:51

Speaker 1: for a few weeks. She said that if I kept

00:21:55

Speaker 1: pressure off my foot for a while, then my ankle

00:22:00

Speaker 1: would be back to normal in no time. I thanked

00:22:04

Speaker 1: her and got ready to leave the hospital. Just as

00:22:08

Speaker 1: I was about to leave, the nurse asked me how

00:22:12

Speaker 1: I had injured my ankle, and I explained the story

00:22:15

Speaker 1: of how it happened. She seemed very impressed and said

00:22:20

Speaker 1: that I was like a superhero flying through the sky.

00:22:24

Speaker 1: I laughed and told her I was no hero, but

00:22:28

Speaker 1: she stopped me in my tracks and told me that

00:22:32

Speaker 1: I was a hero very much. So. She said, when

00:22:39

Speaker 1: you help someone else or do something brave that makes

00:22:44

Speaker 1: you a hero. You don't have to save the world

00:22:49

Speaker 1: or make some grand gesture to be a hero. You

00:22:53

Speaker 1: could do something as simple as cheering a friend up

00:22:57

Speaker 1: when they're upset or go through a hard time. You

00:23:02

Speaker 1: might volunteer to help out her local charity, or even

00:23:07

Speaker 1: raise money for that charity. Maybe you even just help

00:23:13

Speaker 1: your elderly neighbor cross the street or bring in their

00:23:17

Speaker 1: groceries from the store. All of those things make you

00:23:23

Speaker 1: a hero in someone's book. She said that I was

00:23:28

Speaker 1: a hero because I served my country, and I should

00:23:33

Speaker 1: be very proud. Saul smiled and agreed that the nurse

00:23:39

Speaker 1: had been very wise. Grandpa Gus was a hero just

00:23:45

Speaker 1: like the other people who served in the United States

00:23:49

Speaker 1: Air Force with him. The nurse was a hero too,

00:23:53

Speaker 1: because she helped lots of people in need every day,

00:23:57

Speaker 1: people who were injured or ill. She was a hero

00:24:02

Speaker 1: just like Grandpa. Saul asked his grandpa what he said

00:24:08

Speaker 1: back to the wise nurse, and Grandpa Gus replied, I

00:24:13

Speaker 1: asked her if she had any plans that evening. I

00:24:18

Speaker 1: took her out for dinner, and that nurse became my wife.

00:24:24

Speaker 1: That was your grandma. Saul laughed with amusement at the

00:24:31

Speaker 1: way his grandpappy's story had turned. He hadn't known that

00:24:36

Speaker 1: Grandma Susie served in the United States Military. Both of

00:24:41

Speaker 1: Saul's grandparents were heroes, just like he was. After some time,

00:24:48

Speaker 1: Saul's parents and grandma Susie came looking for Saul and Grandpa.

00:24:54

Speaker 1: They hadn't seen them in a while and wondered what

00:24:57

Speaker 1: mischief they were getting up to. When they found them

00:25:01

Speaker 1: sitting in the living room looking through all of Grandpa's

00:25:05

Speaker 1: old boxes and albums, they were surprised and sat down

00:25:10

Speaker 1: to join in too. Together Grandpa and grandma recounted stories

00:25:16

Speaker 1: from both of their time in the United States Armed Forces,

00:25:20

Speaker 1: and Saul listened with admiration. As Saul looked around the

00:25:26

Speaker 1: living room at the members of his family, he realized

00:25:31

Speaker 1: that everyone was a hero in their own special way.

00:25:36

Speaker 1: Grandpa had flown airplanes in the Air Force. Grandma had

00:25:40

Speaker 1: been a nurse, tending to people who were sick. Saul's

00:25:45

Speaker 1: father was a teacher and he helped children learn, and

00:25:49

Speaker 1: his mother was a career at a retirement home. Saul

00:25:53

Speaker 1: hoped that one day he would have lots of heroic

00:25:57

Speaker 1: stories to tell people when he was an old man.

00:26:01

Speaker 1: Now that they had started, the family couldn't stop talking

00:26:06

Speaker 1: and sharing stories about life back then. Even Saul's mother

00:26:12

Speaker 1: had stories to tell from her childhood when she moved

00:26:16

Speaker 1: around the country with her parents from time to time

00:26:19

Speaker 1: as they were reposted with Grandpa's job. It was all

00:26:24

Speaker 1: so interesting, and Saul felt proud to be a part

00:26:28

Speaker 1: of a family with such an interesting past. As night

00:26:33

Speaker 1: came and Saul retreated to bed, he hugged his grandparents

00:26:38

Speaker 1: good night and gave them both an extra squeeze. He

00:26:43

Speaker 1: had really enjoyed learning more about them today. They were

00:26:47

Speaker 1: even cooler than he had originally thought. Saul curled up

00:26:53

Speaker 1: in bed and closed his eyes. Not before long, he

00:26:58

Speaker 1: had drifted off to sleep and was having a riveting dream.

00:27:04

Speaker 1: Saul dreamt that he had developed a new superpower and

00:27:09

Speaker 1: was flying through the sky. He could feel the wind

00:27:13

Speaker 1: in his curly hair and felt his blue cape flowing

00:27:18

Speaker 1: out behind him as he shot through the clouds. As

00:27:23

Speaker 1: he emerged on the other side of the white, fluffy clouds,

00:27:28

Speaker 1: he flew next to a big silver aeroplane and hovered

00:27:32

Speaker 1: level with the window to look inside inside the plane

00:27:38

Speaker 1: with his grandpa. Grandpa Gus was flying the aeroplane through

00:27:43

Speaker 1: the sky, and he saluted Saul as he flew alongside. Together,

00:27:50

Speaker 1: Saul and his Grandpa flew through the open skies, side

00:27:56

Speaker 1: by side, all the way until more when Saul could

00:28:01

Speaker 1: see his grandpa back on the ground again and hear

00:28:05

Speaker 1: more stories about his time as a real life superhero.
