As the great great great grandchildren of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, Darla and Ralphie had mystery solving in their genes and they regularly liked to put their skills to the test. But one day, when a very unusual thing occurred in their own house, they found themselves working extra hard to solve the mystery. It was the half term holiday and Dahla and Ralphie had a week off school to spend with their family. They had plans to go to the cinema and meet some friends at the park. They were going to the seaside one day with their parents, and Grandma was going to come around and spend a day with them when Mum and Dad had to work. It was said to be a relaxing, fun week off. On the morning that they were heading to the seaside. Darla and Ralphie ate their breakfast at the kitchen table while Mom and Dad got ready. Dad looked at his watch to check the time while Mom packed up the beach bag. Then Dad looked confused and tapped the face of his watch before sighing, Oh dear, He moaned, my watch isn't working. The clock has stopped. Mum looked over and commented, that's a shame. Is that your grandfather's watch. Dad said that it was and began unbuffling the strap from his wrist. He would leave it at home since it was no longer working, and try to find the time to get it fixed when he could. Darla and Ralphie watched as Dad placed the watch carefully on the kitchen side next to the kettle, and continued to get ready to go to the seaside. When the family was ready, they set out for the day. Darla and Ralphie couldn't wait to play in the water and have ice cream. After a fun day at the seaside, the family returned home sleepy and sun soaked, with sand in their hair and a glow to their skin. Mum decided to order fish and chips for dinner. So that they didn't need to cook, and she went out to collect them. While Dad, Darla, and Ralphie set the table, Dad walked over to the kitchen round the top and looked stumped. He started moving appliances aside and rummaging around looking for something. Noticing that their dad looked perplexed, Ralphie asked, what are you looking for, Dad, Dad replied with confusion, I'm looking for my watch, the one that belonged to your grandfather. I put it here this morning when I noticed it wasn't working anymore, but now it's gone.
