Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to Koala Moon, a podcast of
00:00:14
Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime
00:00:20
Speaker 1: a dream. In tonight's story, we're heading back to see Pumpkin,
00:00:24
Speaker 1: the Big round ginger cat and her new friend Picasso.
00:00:28
Speaker 1: It's a special night, and there's magic in the air
00:00:31
Speaker 1: which brings together cats from all over the Koala Verse.
00:00:35
Speaker 1: That's right, all your favorite felines from all our different
00:00:38
Speaker 1: stories are about to come together in one room. This
00:00:42
Speaker 1: idea comes from our lovely listener name Maizie, who suggested
00:00:46
Speaker 1: all of our most popular cats might want to meet
00:00:48
Speaker 1: each other. I think you're right, Maisie. In a mow.
00:00:51
Speaker 1: We'll see what happens, but first make sure you're really
00:00:55
Speaker 1: comfy and warm enough in your bed. Now, we're going
00:00:59
Speaker 1: to say good night to our bodies by gently wriggling
00:01:02
Speaker 1: different parts of it. Perhaps flex your feet or circle
00:01:07
Speaker 1: your ankles, wiggle your toes, move your knees, your wrists, fingers,
00:01:16
Speaker 1: scrunch up your face, and when you're finished saying good
00:01:19
Speaker 1: night to yourself, let everything go very still and sigh
00:01:25
Speaker 1: out a lovely long sigh. Hm magic. Now, snuggle down
00:01:34
Speaker 1: a little bit more and let's see what happens when
00:01:38
Speaker 1: our community of cats all congregate for a pretty perfect
00:01:42
Speaker 1: sounding pajama party. This is the Moon Cat's Pajama Party
00:01:48
Speaker 1: by Susannah McGlaughlin. It was a warm, still evening when
00:02:01
Speaker 1: Pumpkin and Picasso had the idea. They'd been living together
00:02:05
Speaker 1: for a few weeks at the time. You see, when
00:02:08
Speaker 1: the two cats met, Pumpkin's own a, Flow had brought
00:02:11
Speaker 1: her to Picasso's house as she was having a sleepover
00:02:14
Speaker 1: with Picasso's own a, Maizie. When Flow's dad dropped her off.
00:02:19
Speaker 1: He enjoyed chatting to Maisie's mum, Lucy quite a lot,
00:02:23
Speaker 1: so much so that they kept on chatting, and they
00:02:26
Speaker 1: were actually married now, and Maisie in Flow were now sisters.
00:02:31
Speaker 1: Pumpkin and Picasso were thrilled when they heard the news,
00:02:35
Speaker 1: although Pumpkin blade it cool and pretended she wasn't that bothered. Picasso,
00:02:39
Speaker 1: on the other hand, bombarded her with hugs and sang
00:02:42
Speaker 1: songs about how they would be the best friends forever.
00:02:46
Speaker 1: They were enjoying being roommates, and Pumpkin was beginning to
00:02:50
Speaker 1: love Maisie almost as much as she loved Flow, and
00:02:54
Speaker 1: she'd never tell Picasso as that wasn't her nature, but
00:02:57
Speaker 1: she loved him too, also happy that Lucy had convinced
00:03:02
Speaker 1: Flow's dad to switch to the better brand of cat food,
00:03:06
Speaker 1: and that her new stepmom gave amazing cuddles when the
00:03:09
Speaker 1: girls went around. Tonight, Pumpkin and Picasso were home alone.
00:03:15
Speaker 1: Their family had gone to the theater, leaving the two
00:03:18
Speaker 1: cats to do what they did best, slob around in
00:03:21
Speaker 1: their pajamas, stretching and rolling around and kneading the cushions.
00:03:28
Speaker 1: Picasso rubbed his black splodged side against a chair's leg
00:03:33
Speaker 1: and rolled over onto his back, exposing his little pink
00:03:37
Speaker 1: tummy amongst clouds of white fur. Pumpkin yawned. Another evening ed,
00:03:46
Speaker 1: she said, what a treat do you think, kiss darly?
00:03:51
Speaker 1: Time to put our pajamas on. Picasso nodded. He tilted
00:03:58
Speaker 1: his head and grinned. Isn't it fun living with your
00:04:02
Speaker 1: bestist friend, he said. Pumpkin rolled her eyes. She pretended
00:04:09
Speaker 1: she didn't like it when Picasso got mushy like that,
00:04:13
Speaker 1: actually flows my best friend, she said, you're just my
00:04:18
Speaker 1: best cat friend. Picasso grinned and crossed his eyes. That
00:04:24
Speaker 1: was fine with him. He had Maisie too. He understood
00:04:28
Speaker 1: that Pumpkin got protective of Flow. The connection between a
00:04:32
Speaker 1: kid and a cat was hard to beat. It's really
00:04:36
Speaker 1: really nice having company, Picasso said, cats should hang out more.
00:04:43
Speaker 1: Pumpkin nodded. Before I knew you, I used to hiss
00:04:48
Speaker 1: at the cats in the neighborhood. I thought they'm all
00:04:51
Speaker 1: rather suspicious, but they're probably all right. Really, do you
00:04:57
Speaker 1: think we could throw a party? Picasso asked. We could
00:05:03
Speaker 1: get a bunch of cats around and we could have
00:05:05
Speaker 1: a sleep over like Flow and Maisie do with their friends.
00:05:11
Speaker 1: Pumpkins scratched her chin. I'd like that, she said. We can't, though,
00:05:19
Speaker 1: How can we send emails when we're too short to
00:05:22
Speaker 1: reach the post box? If only there was a magic
00:05:25
Speaker 1: wand we could wave to magic them all here? Anyway,
00:05:30
Speaker 1: shall we put our pajamas on? Little did the cats
00:05:34
Speaker 1: know that there was a creature in the garden quite
00:05:38
Speaker 1: capable of making their dreams come true. Her little silver squirrel,
00:05:44
Speaker 1: who glinted in the light of the rising moon. He
00:05:48
Speaker 1: was sitting on the fence just outside the open window.
00:05:54
Speaker 1: Hearing their words, he rubbed his little paws together with
00:05:58
Speaker 1: a giggle, and pranced off up a tree branch to
00:06:02
Speaker 1: who knows where to make their dreams come true. Pumpkin
00:06:07
Speaker 1: and Picasso were just finishing changing into their pajamas when
00:06:11
Speaker 1: there was a knock knock at the door. They looked
00:06:14
Speaker 1: at one another, puzzled. Must be the wrong door, Pumpkin said,
00:06:21
Speaker 1: putting on her warm, fuzzy socks. Picasso nodded and held
00:06:26
Speaker 1: two pairs of pajamas up for her to see which
00:06:30
Speaker 1: ones tonight, he asked. Pumpkins scratched her chin, looking at
00:06:36
Speaker 1: the blue onesie decorated with rocket ships and the lilac
00:06:40
Speaker 1: button up suit with an ice cream cone emblazoned on
00:06:44
Speaker 1: the chest. She pointed to the ice cream set, those ones,
00:06:49
Speaker 1: she said. There was another knock at the door. Picasso
00:06:54
Speaker 1: rolled his eyes, buttoning up his pajamas, Coming, he called.
00:07:00
Speaker 1: He popped the cat flap open with his paw to
00:07:03
Speaker 1: see two cats standing just outside, although he couldn't see
00:07:07
Speaker 1: their faces. Piled up in their paws were casserole dishes,
00:07:11
Speaker 1: cake boxes, and cardboard containers that smelt suspiciously sugary and delicious. Hello, Hello,
00:07:20
Speaker 1: called two little voices. It's us potato and beans. Pumpkin
00:07:25
Speaker 1: looked at Picasso in alarm. She'd never met a potato
00:07:29
Speaker 1: before or a beans. They have strange names, she whispered
00:07:35
Speaker 1: to Picasso, Who gets named after vegetables like that? Picasso
00:07:42
Speaker 1: looked at Pumpkin pointedly, but she didn't pick up on
00:07:45
Speaker 1: his drift. We got your invite, The voice came from
00:07:50
Speaker 1: the little white fluffball of a cat on the right.
00:07:53
Speaker 1: But jam a party right. Pumpkin looked at the newcomer's outfits.
00:07:59
Speaker 1: They were in indeed, dressed in striped and starred pajamas
00:08:03
Speaker 1: with the trouser legs stuffed into shining cowboy boots. Picasso
00:08:09
Speaker 1: grinned he didn't know what magic sent the invitation, but
00:08:14
Speaker 1: he wasn't going to question it. Ah. Yes, he grinned,
00:08:19
Speaker 1: pajama party, come on in. The cats maneuvered all their
00:08:25
Speaker 1: packages through the cat flap and set the banquet down
00:08:29
Speaker 1: on the table. Finally able to grin at the two
00:08:32
Speaker 1: cats and give them a hug, they introduced themselves properly
00:08:37
Speaker 1: as Potato and Beans, the owners of a roller skate
00:08:40
Speaker 1: diner way out in the middle of nowhere USA. Pumpkin
00:08:46
Speaker 1: and Pigasso raised their eyebrows, impressed, they introduced themselves as
00:08:51
Speaker 1: the pets of Flow and Maisie from number sixty two
00:08:55
Speaker 1: Cherry Grove Way, and the cat seemed delighted to meet them.
00:09:00
Speaker 1: Potato and Beans told them that they'd taken it upon
00:09:03
Speaker 1: themselves to prepare the midnight snacks, pulling lids and foil
00:09:08
Speaker 1: off the containers to show Crispy Mac and Cheese a
00:09:12
Speaker 1: small canister of their favorite soup and box upon box
00:09:17
Speaker 1: of sweet treats. Missus Big got a little carried away
00:09:21
Speaker 1: in the kitchen. Beans chuckled. You don't say, Picasso, laughed,
00:09:28
Speaker 1: midnight snack, This is a midnight feast. He and Pumpkin
00:09:35
Speaker 1: began taste testing the food, egged on by the diner cats,
00:09:39
Speaker 1: nibbling a bite of every single dish. Each seemed more
00:09:44
Speaker 1: delicious than the last. We'll never be able to eat
00:09:50
Speaker 1: all this on our own, Pumpkins said. Just then there
00:09:54
Speaker 1: was another knock at the door. The four cats looked
00:09:58
Speaker 1: at each other, raising an eyebrow. It seemed there was
00:10:02
Speaker 1: something quite magic going on. They gathered around the door
00:10:07
Speaker 1: to peer through the catflap once more, standing on the patio,
00:10:12
Speaker 1: sniffing a potted plants, a little tiny kitten, she squealed
00:10:18
Speaker 1: with excitement, as the flap opened and another kitten appeared
00:10:22
Speaker 1: behind her, a Nutmeg. She said, this is my friend Donna.
00:10:28
Speaker 1: The other kitten waggled her poor and hello. Nutmeg was
00:10:32
Speaker 1: wrapped up in a white, fluffy dressing gown, and Donna
00:10:37
Speaker 1: was wearing a matching one in sky blue. The cats
00:10:41
Speaker 1: beamed and welcomed them in through the catflap. The flap
00:10:45
Speaker 1: had barely swung closed when there was another knock. This
00:10:50
Speaker 1: time there was a whole host of cats on the doorstep.
00:10:53
Speaker 1: There was a black and white cat who twinkled with magic,
00:10:56
Speaker 1: whose name tag read Minnie. There there was a pair
00:11:00
Speaker 1: of ginger and white cats giggling and calling each other
00:11:04
Speaker 1: ginger and snowy, and finally there was a black cat
00:11:08
Speaker 1: who was talking on a cell phone, telling someone named
00:11:12
Speaker 1: Tarlia that they'd be back in the morning. Every one
00:11:16
Speaker 1: of them was wearing pajamas. Picasso and Pumpkin welcomed them
00:11:21
Speaker 1: all in, shaking their paws and giving them hugs. They
00:11:26
Speaker 1: looked around. Now this was quite the party. The cats
00:11:31
Speaker 1: spent some time getting to know each other, and Pumpkin
00:11:34
Speaker 1: gave them a tour of the house, showing the place
00:11:37
Speaker 1: in the lard as She liked to sleep amongst the onions,
00:11:40
Speaker 1: and the laundry basket that was always the warmest, and
00:11:44
Speaker 1: the patch of grass in the garden that she thought
00:11:47
Speaker 1: smelt really nice. Picasso poured as many blankets as he
00:11:53
Speaker 1: could into the lounge until every single surface was covered
00:11:58
Speaker 1: with soft, fluffy or wooly cuddly softness. Once the introductions
00:12:05
Speaker 1: and tour concluded, the cats took their places in the lounge,
00:12:10
Speaker 1: wrapped up warm and wiggling their toes in their fluffy slippers.
00:12:16
Speaker 1: What should we do now, I've never been to a
00:12:18
Speaker 1: pajama party before. Little Nutmeg purred from her spot by
00:12:23
Speaker 1: the fire. The other cats shrugged. They seemed none of
00:12:27
Speaker 1: them had the Casso clapped his hands. Mosy and Flow
00:12:33
Speaker 1: love watching TV shows with kids having sleepovers. We know
00:12:37
Speaker 1: exactly what to do. Pumpkin nodded and explained that usually
00:12:43
Speaker 1: on the TV the girls would pamper themselves, then they'd
00:12:48
Speaker 1: do prank calls, then they'd dance and sing, then a
00:12:54
Speaker 1: midnight snack. She winked at potato and beans first up.
00:12:59
Speaker 1: Then Picasso said, let pamper. The cats sprang into action.
00:13:06
Speaker 1: Beans took a cucumber from the fridge, and sliced it
00:13:10
Speaker 1: into cooling little circles to put over their eyes. Potato
00:13:14
Speaker 1: filled the washing up bowl with warm, soapy water for
00:13:18
Speaker 1: them to dip their paws in making a bubble beard.
00:13:22
Speaker 1: While she waited to make nutmeg and on her laugh,
00:13:26
Speaker 1: Pumpkin and Picasso took the others to maisie in floes room,
00:13:31
Speaker 1: where they picked through their cupboards, pulling out little bottles
00:13:34
Speaker 1: of shiny, sparkly nail varnish. Then the kitten spar was ready.
00:13:41
Speaker 1: The cats wrapped towels on their heads like turbans, as
00:13:45
Speaker 1: Snowy said she'd seen that happen on a spa leaflet
00:13:48
Speaker 1: that once came in the post. They soaked their toes
00:13:52
Speaker 1: in the warm, frothy water and got comfy on the sofa,
00:13:57
Speaker 1: painting on another's claws. The one who wasn't painting would
00:14:02
Speaker 1: pop cool cucumbers on their eyes and leaned back to relax.
00:14:08
Speaker 1: Minnie was really good at the painting and could do
00:14:11
Speaker 1: little moons and stars over the glitter. Bella suspected she
00:14:17
Speaker 1: was using a little magic to keep it neat. Picasso
00:14:22
Speaker 1: had his claws painted blue, and Minnie said it complimented
00:14:26
Speaker 1: his eyes beautifully. Beans and Potato went with red to
00:14:31
Speaker 1: match their jammies, and Nutmeg decided on rainbow as she
00:14:35
Speaker 1: couldn't possibly choose. Ginger retrieved the hair dryer from the
00:14:40
Speaker 1: bathroom and held it over the cat's claws to make
00:14:43
Speaker 1: sure the paint dried without smudges, and then held the
00:14:47
Speaker 1: hair dryer over their fur simply because the warm air
00:14:51
Speaker 1: felt so lovely. Once they'd all been pampered and were
00:14:57
Speaker 1: feeling very soft and relaxed, Pumpkin consulted their activity list
00:15:03
Speaker 1: next prank calls. The cat spent a little while mulling
00:15:09
Speaker 1: over who to prank. They didn't know any numbers off
00:15:12
Speaker 1: by heart. Ginger poured out a pizza menu that was
00:15:16
Speaker 1: wedged under the door mat and brought it to the group.
00:15:20
Speaker 1: Let's prank a human, she said. The cats giggled at
00:15:25
Speaker 1: the idea, but only one of them believed they could
00:15:28
Speaker 1: pull it off. They turned to Bella, the talking cat,
00:15:32
Speaker 1: who was lucky enough to be given the magical gift
00:15:34
Speaker 1: of being understood by humans, and began chanting her name.
00:15:41
Speaker 1: Bella took the telephone and held it to her ear,
00:15:45
Speaker 1: trying to stop giggling as she typed in the number.
00:15:50
Speaker 1: She asked the man, who answered whether she could order
00:15:52
Speaker 1: a pizza, and he said yes, of course, and what
00:15:57
Speaker 1: would she like as a topping Bella couldn't stop herself
00:16:01
Speaker 1: from laughing as she answered cat food. The man laughed
00:16:07
Speaker 1: and Bella laughed too, and the two of them laughed
00:16:11
Speaker 1: together until Bella said she was only kidding and wished
00:16:14
Speaker 1: him a good evening. The cats were all giggling on
00:16:18
Speaker 1: the carpet, as laughter is quite contagious, and they all
00:16:22
Speaker 1: chuckled and chortled and cackled for a while longer before
00:16:26
Speaker 1: they finally settled down. Pumpkin picked up her list and
00:16:32
Speaker 1: marked the box next to prank call with a big tick.
00:16:38
Speaker 1: What's next, snow, he asked. Pumpkin grinned dancing, she said.
00:16:46
Speaker 1: Before she finished the word, Picasso had already hit the lights,
00:16:51
Speaker 1: switched on the record player, and turned the disco ball
00:16:54
Speaker 1: to twinkle mode. The cats cast aside their blankets and
00:17:00
Speaker 1: began to moonwalk, boogie and strut over to the center
00:17:04
Speaker 1: of the room. Picasso disappeared and reappeared with items from
00:17:10
Speaker 1: Flow and Maizie's dressing up box, heart and star shaped sunglasses,
00:17:15
Speaker 1: feather bowers, cowboy hats, and plastic tiaras. Soon they all
00:17:22
Speaker 1: looked like stars. They each had their moment on the
00:17:27
Speaker 1: dance floor. Nutmeg and Donna showed off a dance routine
00:17:32
Speaker 1: that they had made at school, sliding along the floor
00:17:35
Speaker 1: and spinning and ending up back to back with their
00:17:39
Speaker 1: paws crossed over their chest, peering through two big novelty sunglasses.
00:17:47
Speaker 1: Potato and Beans coached the cats through some line dancing,
00:17:51
Speaker 1: kicking their boots and clapping and calling yeehaw as they
00:17:55
Speaker 1: stepped this way and that. Ginger and Snowy weren't so
00:18:00
Speaker 1: talented at dancing, and kept accidentally crashing together and giggling
00:18:04
Speaker 1: belly bounces and falling about laughing. Pumpkin gave a surprisingly
00:18:11
Speaker 1: well rehearsed pop star routine, swishing around her feather boa
00:18:16
Speaker 1: and singing into a hair brush. She grinned sheepishly as
00:18:21
Speaker 1: the others applauded, and confessed she and Flo had spent
00:18:26
Speaker 1: a whole weekend learning it from a music video. Picasso
00:18:31
Speaker 1: did a funny impression of a ballerina with a tiara
00:18:34
Speaker 1: on his head, and Bella did disco dancing, rolling her
00:18:39
Speaker 1: paws around one another and pointing from one corner of
00:18:43
Speaker 1: the room to the other striking poses with a cool
00:18:47
Speaker 1: as a cucumber expression on her face. It was down
00:18:51
Speaker 1: to Minnie to do her solo, and the cats clapped
00:18:55
Speaker 1: for her to take center stage, but she shook her
00:18:58
Speaker 1: head coyly. I don't want to perform a dance, she said.
00:19:04
Speaker 1: She looked a little nervous that the other cats would
00:19:07
Speaker 1: push her to do it anyway, but her kind friends
00:19:11
Speaker 1: barely blinked, saying that's okay, Minnie and boogeying next to her.
00:19:18
Speaker 1: But she added nervously, I I could show you some magic.
00:19:24
Speaker 1: The cat's eyes lit up and they all said they
00:19:28
Speaker 1: would love that. Pecasso led her to the dressing up box,
00:19:33
Speaker 1: and when they returned, Minnie was sporting a top hat
00:19:36
Speaker 1: and held a magic wand in hand, topped with a
00:19:39
Speaker 1: big gold star. The cats were waiting patiently, sitting and
00:19:46
Speaker 1: waiting for Minnie to begin. She felt a wave of nerves,
00:19:52
Speaker 1: but soon took in each cat's encouraging smile, took a
00:19:56
Speaker 1: big breath, and let out a grin. With a wave
00:20:00
Speaker 1: of her tail, she created a bunch of flowers in
00:20:04
Speaker 1: soft oranges and pinks. The cats all ooed and odd
00:20:10
Speaker 1: at the beautiful blooms. As they watched, the flowers began
00:20:15
Speaker 1: to lift from the bouquet and float and twirl in
00:20:19
Speaker 1: the air. Their soft perfume filled the room. Minnie waved
00:20:26
Speaker 1: her paws, and a twinkling fog swept across the ceiling
00:20:31
Speaker 1: like a blanket of cloud dotted with stars. Little shimmering
00:20:37
Speaker 1: planets appeared suspended in the room, rotating on their axis.
00:20:43
Speaker 1: Little mini fireworks streaked through the air like little shooting stars.
00:20:49
Speaker 1: A twisty, tiny smudge of the milky way appeared in
00:20:53
Speaker 1: mid air, and little cloud figures in the shape of
00:20:57
Speaker 1: cats seemed to be floating around, swimming and lapping from
00:21:02
Speaker 1: its milky streams. Then it all disappeared into the top
00:21:08
Speaker 1: hat Minnie lifted from her head. The cats didn't clap
00:21:14
Speaker 1: for a moment. They were two stunned. Their little mouths
00:21:19
Speaker 1: hung open, and their eyes seemed to fill with dreams.
00:21:25
Speaker 1: Then Nutmeg began to clap, and they all took off,
00:21:29
Speaker 1: whooping and congratulating Minnie on her amazing talent. Little circles
00:21:36
Speaker 1: of pink blush appeared on Minnie's cheeks once she'd basked
00:21:42
Speaker 1: in their praise for a moment more, Minnie took Picasso's
00:21:46
Speaker 1: list from the side table. Next up, she said it
00:21:50
Speaker 1: was time for their midnight snack. Potato and Beans whizzed
00:21:56
Speaker 1: to the kitchen, setting up their feast with a crack
00:22:00
Speaker 1: to stease, throwing tablecloths and cutlery between them, and seeming
00:22:06
Speaker 1: to arrange the food in the most beautiful of ways,
00:22:10
Speaker 1: so it looked even more bountiful than when stacked up
00:22:14
Speaker 1: in its tens of boxes. Dinner, Potato said, twirling in
00:22:21
Speaker 1: imaginary mustache is served. She bowed like a fancy waiter,
00:22:28
Speaker 1: and the cat streamed into the kitchen, loading up plates
00:22:32
Speaker 1: with all sorts of delights. They crunched on natchos and popcorn,
00:22:38
Speaker 1: slurped soup and milkshake, and gobbled down cookies and plump strawberries.
00:22:45
Speaker 1: They drank fizzy pop, laughing when nutmeg let out a
00:22:49
Speaker 1: little burp, and ended with a glass of warm milk
00:22:52
Speaker 1: each to settle the stomach. Once they'd finished, they were
00:22:58
Speaker 1: all looking a little plumper and patting their round bellies
00:23:02
Speaker 1: in satisfaction. They thanked Potato and Beans, who insisted it
00:23:08
Speaker 1: was all down to their chef, missus Pig, and said
00:23:11
Speaker 1: they'd pass on their compliments what's the last thing on
00:23:15
Speaker 1: the list, Ginger asked Picasso, who consulted the scrap of
00:23:20
Speaker 1: paper and smiled. Is to get ready for bed and
00:23:25
Speaker 1: whisper secrets as we fall asleep, he replied. The cats
00:23:30
Speaker 1: giggled that sounded nice. There was a cue by the
00:23:35
Speaker 1: bathroom sink as the cats took turns to brush their teeth.
00:23:40
Speaker 1: One by one, they returned to the lounge and selected
00:23:43
Speaker 1: a blanket and cushion to sink into. Soon they were
00:23:48
Speaker 1: each curled up in their own spot, and all you
00:23:51
Speaker 1: could see was a carpet of snoozy cats. Pumpkin turned
00:23:56
Speaker 1: off the lamp and turned on the night light, and
00:24:00
Speaker 1: there were rustles and yawns as the cats got comfortable.
00:24:05
Speaker 1: Do we share secrets now? Donna's little voice yawned? Picasso said, yes,
00:24:12
Speaker 1: Now was the time Donna said what I tried dog
00:24:19
Speaker 1: food and I liked it. Little giggles filled the room.
00:24:26
Speaker 1: Potato chimed up. When I'm sleepy, sometimes I suck my thumb.
00:24:34
Speaker 1: Beans grinned and said it was true. Ginger spoke up
00:24:39
Speaker 1: in the darkness and said, sometimes I get nervous before
00:24:43
Speaker 1: I come to parties. I get a little bit scared
00:24:46
Speaker 1: that I won't know what to say and do, or
00:24:49
Speaker 1: how to make friends, but I had so much fun tonight.
00:24:55
Speaker 1: There were happy murmurs amongst the cats as they told
00:24:59
Speaker 1: her that she needn't worry, and some confessed that they
00:25:03
Speaker 1: felt that way sometimes too. Pumpkin, who was next to Ginger,
00:25:09
Speaker 1: gave her a little cuddle and told her how happy
00:25:12
Speaker 1: and proud of her she was that she came even
00:25:15
Speaker 1: though she felt scared. They said they thought she was
00:25:18
Speaker 1: perfect just the way she was. Ginger drifted off with
00:25:24
Speaker 1: a smile on her face. One by one, the cat's
00:25:29
Speaker 1: eilids drooped and they drifted into sleep. Soon only the
00:25:36
Speaker 1: sound of soft peurs and snores filled the room. Not
00:25:41
Speaker 1: long after, the front door opened and Flow and her dad,
00:25:47
Speaker 1: Maisie and her mom all crept into the land, expecting
00:25:53
Speaker 1: to see only Pumpkin and pecsso curled up in their
00:25:57
Speaker 1: usual ying yang. They were surprised by the cuddly puddle
00:26:01
Speaker 1: of cats that they found at their feet, but they
00:26:05
Speaker 1: just smiled, whispered sweet dreams, and went upstairs to put
00:26:11
Speaker 1: on their own pajamas and drift off to sleep somewhere
00:26:16
Speaker 1: out in the garden. Her little silver squirrel smiled, pleased
00:26:22
Speaker 1: to have done such good work once again, and drifted
00:26:27
Speaker 1: off to sleep tucked up in his nook in an
00:26:31
Speaker 1: old oak tree. The next morning, the cats would wake
00:26:38
Speaker 1: up to fluffy pancakes topped with blueberries, and patted around
00:26:44
Speaker 1: in their slippers, drinking hot cocoa before heading back to
00:26:49
Speaker 1: their homes. From sleepy forest to the middle of nowhere.
00:26:56
Speaker 1: But even though they lived far apart, they had made
00:27:00
Speaker 1: fast friends and was sure that it wouldn't be long
00:27:06
Speaker 1: before they saw one another again.
