Inside a classroom a clover Meadow school, the teacher, a sheep called Missus McLeod, was gathering the young animals together. She asked them to settle down on the carpet for storytime. They always sat down for a story before leaving school for the day. The first animal to sit on the carpet was a pig lid with a curly whirly tale. His name Pip Squeak, and he loved listening to stories. He looked eagerly at Missus McLeod and wondered which story she would tell them. His best friend, Wriggles the bunny, flopped down next to Pips Squeak and yawned. She blinked tiredly and smiled at Pips Squeak. He grinned and whispered. Pip Squeak. Do you think this is McLeod will notice if I have a nap. Pip Squeak smiled at his snoozy friend and whispered back, yes, she would notice. She notices everything. Why are you so tired, Griggles? The bunny yawned again and said he was often tired during the day. But before he could explain why, the rest of the young animals joined them on the carpet and waited for missus McLeod to speak. The kind faced teacher smiled at the animals and said, We've had a wonderful day at school and everyone has worked very hard. Her smile softened, and she continued, I can't help noticing that some of you have been yawning a lot this afternoon. As soon as she said yawning, little mouths opened and a series of tired yawns echoed around the classroom. It wasn't just Wriggles who yawned. Many of his classmates did too, lambs, kittens, puppies, and a small calf who had just joined the class the previous week.
