[00:03:22] Relaxation is truly closer than you think.

[00:03:26] I'll see you there.

[00:03:29] Yes, it's quite an adventure that starts when she arrives and immediately gets lost.

[00:03:34] But no matter, she ends up knocking on the cabin door of a family of slow lorises.

[00:03:41] And, well, let's see what happens.

[00:03:44] Jump into bed if you're not there already and get ready to relax and get snoozy.

[00:03:50] As I read, Goldilocks and the Three Slow Lorises by Jane Thomas.

[00:04:04] Sleepy Forest is a safe haven for every kind of animal you've ever heard of.

[00:04:10] And an awful lot you probably haven't come to that.

[00:04:13] Very rarely, so incredibly rarely, do humans ever get the chance to go into Sleepy Forest.

[00:04:20] It's terribly hard to find for a start.

[00:04:23] And there's all sorts of magic involved in allowing a person to go there.

[00:04:29] This year, though, there was a secret competition to let a little girl or little boy into the forest.

[00:04:35] Of course, the idea came to the animals many years ago,

[00:04:39] after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory became incredibly popular.

[00:04:43] It was the single most borrowed book from the library for a while.

[00:04:49] And in order to get more people to hear the story,

[00:04:52] the librarian, a very sweet old lady llama named Madame Rose,

[00:04:58] would do readings in the afternoons and evenings.

[00:05:02] Animals gathered round, sitting on cushions,

[00:05:06] or, in the case of koalas and sloths and chameleons,

[00:05:11] hanging out on tree branches,

[00:05:13] listening eagerly to the story of Charlie Bucket

[00:05:16] and his magical visit to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

[00:05:21] One of those animals would grow up to be a chocolate maker himself.

[00:05:27] Papa Praline was his name.

[00:05:30] Once he was a grown-up with a chocolate factory of his own,

[00:05:34] Papa Praline decided to create special chocolate bars,

[00:05:39] which albatrosses delivered the whole world over.

[00:05:43] Teams of mice snuck them into shops and onto shelves.

[00:05:48] They were just like regular chocolate bars,

[00:05:50] except one had a golden ticket tucked away inside its wrapper.

[00:05:56] The prize-winning bar was jumbled up with all the rest,

[00:06:00] and nobody had any idea where it would end up.

[00:06:04] Until recently, it was found by a girl,

[00:06:08] who goes by the name of Goldilocks,

[00:06:11] who lives in Greenland.

[00:06:13] She has, as perhaps you might have guessed,

[00:06:16] long, blonde, curly hair and big blue eyes,

[00:06:20] and she's terribly excited to have received

[00:06:23] an official invitation to a tea party in Sleepy Forest.

[00:06:29] Goldilocks has been given very specific directions

[00:06:33] that will lead her to a gala held in her honour

[00:06:36] in the Sleepy Forest community gardens,

[00:06:40] catered, of course, by Betty Badger.

[00:06:44] The thing you should know about this Goldilocks, though,

[00:06:48] is that she is ditzy as can be,

[00:06:51] always lost in daydreams.

[00:06:54] She's the sort of person who gets halfway through a maths lesson

[00:06:59] and suddenly puts her hand up and says,

[00:07:01] Oh, Miss, I thought this was geography.

[00:07:05] Can we start again?

[00:07:08] I think you were saying something about numbers.

[00:07:12] She's the sort of person who can get lost

[00:07:15] walking down a straight road.

[00:07:19] She's the sort of person who arrives at an ice skating rink

[00:07:23] in shorts and t-shirt because

[00:07:25] she didn't think it would be cold.

[00:07:28] But it doesn't matter, not one bit,

[00:07:32] because Goldilocks is absolutely lovely.

[00:07:37] While being a bit ditzy,

[00:07:39] she is also the sort of person

[00:07:41] who will share her lunch with you

[00:07:43] when you've forgotten yours.

[00:07:45] She notices things and gives you little compliments,

[00:07:49] telling you that your new haircut looks really pretty

[00:07:53] when you're secretly worried it's a disaster.

[00:07:55] She asks you to dance when nobody else does.

[00:08:01] And if someone falls over,

[00:08:03] she's the first by their side,

[00:08:06] helping them up and slipping them a sweet.

[00:08:09] On the day Goldilocks is due to head to Sleepy Forest,

[00:08:14] she gets lost four times

[00:08:16] before she ever reaches the gate

[00:08:17] that leads towards the magic.

[00:08:20] She somehow manages to lose a shoe

[00:08:23] within five minutes of entering the forest.

[00:08:26] And decides in an oddly logical sort of way,

[00:08:30] I suppose,

[00:08:31] that it's better to have no shoes than one shoe.

[00:08:34] So she takes the other off and leaves it on a log.

[00:08:39] She quite forgets that she's supposed to be heading

[00:08:42] towards the community garden

[00:08:44] and keeps getting distracted by this and that,

[00:08:48] following a butterfly as it dances in the dappled sunlight,

[00:08:52] or chasing after a big buzzing bumblebee

[00:08:57] that is the fluffiest she's ever seen.

[00:09:02] Goldilocks thinks that a frog resting on a sun-warmed stone

[00:09:06] is inviting her to sit beside him.

[00:09:09] So down she hops to the stream,

[00:09:12] settling down next to him

[00:09:14] and popping her now really quite dirty feet in the water,

[00:09:20] chatting away about frogs and princes and fairy tales,

[00:09:25] and not noticing the frog slips quietly away

[00:09:29] to have a secret snooze

[00:09:31] somewhere he isn't being quite so talked at.

[00:09:35] But it's fine,

[00:09:37] because some beavers come out to play,

[00:09:40] and she dances around with them in the water for a while,

[00:09:44] not minding at all that her jeans and jumper

[00:09:47] are getting absolutely soaking wet.

[00:09:51] A bright green lizard with red spots and blue eyeshadow

[00:09:56] introduces himself as Matcha,

[00:09:59] a Madagascan day gecko,

[00:10:01] and invites her to join him

[00:10:03] on his favourite sun-speckled rock

[00:10:06] to dry herself out.

[00:10:07] And it's such a comfy rock,

[00:10:10] with bouncy, mossy pillows

[00:10:12] covered in the silvery threads of silkworms,

[00:10:16] but Goldilocks ends up fast asleep

[00:10:19] and stays that way until the middle of the afternoon.

[00:10:24] She is vaguely aware,

[00:10:27] when she finally awakes,

[00:10:29] that nobody else is around

[00:10:31] and the forest has become completely silent.

[00:10:36] And it doesn't take long

[00:10:38] for her to be very aware

[00:10:40] that she has no idea where she is.

[00:10:44] Goldilocks is thoroughly,

[00:10:48] completely,

[00:10:50] totally,

[00:10:52] utterly

[00:10:54] lost.

[00:10:56] She realises she will need to ask someone for directions,

[00:11:00] and a quick sniff of the air tells her

[00:11:03] someone has a fire lit not too far away.

[00:11:06] She follows the scent,

[00:11:09] taking care to place her bare feet

[00:11:12] on the smoothest pebbles

[00:11:14] and softest grasses,

[00:11:16] and comes upon a clearing in the woods.

[00:11:20] A perfect little cottage

[00:11:22] sits in the heart of the clearing,

[00:11:26] smoke puffing cheerfully from its chimney.

[00:11:30] The door is a glorious,

[00:11:33] deep emerald green,

[00:11:35] and on it hangs a smart brass knocker

[00:11:38] in the shape of a little fist,

[00:11:41] and she goes up

[00:11:42] and raises the fist

[00:11:44] and lowers it once,

[00:11:46] twice,

[00:11:47] three times.

[00:11:48] The forest is so quiet,

[00:11:52] and the knocker

[00:11:53] seems to make such a loud noise.

[00:11:57] But nobody comes to answer,

[00:12:00] so she tries again,

[00:12:02] a little harder

[00:12:03] and a little louder this time.

[00:12:07] Still,

[00:12:08] nobody answers,

[00:12:10] so Goldilocks peers through a window

[00:12:13] to see if anyone is inside.

[00:12:16] She looks into a kitchen,

[00:12:18] all scrubbed wood and tiled floors,

[00:12:22] with a pot bubbling merrily

[00:12:24] on a big black stove,

[00:12:27] and counts one,

[00:12:29] two,

[00:12:30] three bowls laid out on the table.

[00:12:34] She's suddenly aware

[00:12:36] of a rumbling in her tummy,

[00:12:38] and,

[00:12:40] oh, how good the bubbling pot looks,

[00:12:44] and,

[00:12:45] oh, how good the three bowls seem.

[00:12:49] And Goldilocks glances over her shoulder

[00:12:52] to see if anyone is around.

[00:12:55] The forest seems to be quite empty,

[00:12:58] probably because all the creatures

[00:13:01] have gone to the community garden

[00:13:02] for the fate.

[00:13:03] So,

[00:13:04] Goldilocks tries the door handle.

[00:13:07] Much to her surprise,

[00:13:10] the emerald green door opens.

[00:13:13] Although it shouldn't be so much of a surprise,

[00:13:16] because,

[00:13:17] of course,

[00:13:18] no animal in sleepy forest

[00:13:19] ever locks their door.

[00:13:23] She steps onto a thick red carpet

[00:13:26] that is velvet soft and cosy,

[00:13:29] and her feet feel the relief

[00:13:32] of no longer walking around

[00:13:34] with no shoes on.

[00:13:36] There are three pairs of slippers

[00:13:38] lined up by the door,

[00:13:40] all looking so warm and inviting,

[00:13:44] but she tells herself,

[00:13:47] no,

[00:13:47] she came for a few spoonfuls

[00:13:50] of something to eat,

[00:13:51] and then she will leave right away.

[00:13:55] On the wall,

[00:13:57] she sees dozens of photographs.

[00:13:59] There's a family portrait,

[00:14:01] and on the top it says,

[00:14:03] love lives here.

[00:14:06] The picture shows

[00:14:08] a daddy slow loris,

[00:14:10] wearing a very smart suit

[00:14:12] and standing up very straight,

[00:14:14] and a mummy slow loris

[00:14:16] in a beautiful blue dress

[00:14:18] that flows to the floor,

[00:14:20] and a baby slow loris,

[00:14:24] one paw in each of his parents' paws,

[00:14:27] wobbling a little in her yellow dress.

[00:14:29] The three of them

[00:14:31] are standing in front of a cottage

[00:14:34] with an emerald green door,

[00:14:36] and Goldilocks recognises it

[00:14:38] as the place she's now inside.

[00:14:41] Somehow,

[00:14:42] she has stumbled into the home

[00:14:44] of three wide-eyed,

[00:14:47] pink-nosed,

[00:14:48] round-eared,

[00:14:50] slow lorises.

[00:14:53] Heading into the kitchen,

[00:14:55] Goldilocks eyes up

[00:14:56] the three bowls on the table.

[00:14:59] The family can only just have popped out

[00:15:02] because in each bowl

[00:15:04] is some gently steaming soup

[00:15:06] that looks and smells

[00:15:08] absolutely delicious.

[00:15:11] She goes to the biggest bowl,

[00:15:14] thinking that nobody will notice

[00:15:16] just a spoonful missing

[00:15:17] from such a large serving,

[00:15:19] and goes to take a sip.

[00:15:21] But, oh my goodness,

[00:15:23] the soup is so hot!

[00:15:25] So, she goes to the next biggest bowl,

[00:15:29] and is about to take a sip

[00:15:31] when she realises,

[00:15:33] oh, the steam has stopped rising,

[00:15:35] and somehow this soup

[00:15:37] has turned icy cold.

[00:15:40] And so, of course,

[00:15:42] she turns to the smallest bowl.

[00:15:45] She tests the tiniest taste of the soup,

[00:15:49] a smidgen on the tip of her tongue,

[00:15:51] and it is just right.

[00:15:54] Not too hot,

[00:15:56] not too cold,

[00:15:58] but lovely and warm

[00:16:00] just the way she likes it.

[00:16:03] Goldilocks promises herself

[00:16:05] she will only have a single spoonful,

[00:16:09] but then she takes another,

[00:16:11] and another,

[00:16:13] and another.

[00:16:15] And before she knows it,

[00:16:17] she has picked up the bowl

[00:16:19] and is licking it clean,

[00:16:20] and every last drop

[00:16:23] is gone.

[00:16:25] She steps back

[00:16:27] and realises

[00:16:28] what she has done.

[00:16:30] She looks at the pot

[00:16:31] on the stove,

[00:16:33] still bubbling nicely,

[00:16:35] and wonders

[00:16:36] if she should put some more

[00:16:37] into the littlest bowl

[00:16:38] on the table.

[00:16:40] But that bowl

[00:16:41] is for the baby slow loris,

[00:16:43] and what if the soup

[00:16:45] she adds

[00:16:46] is too hot

[00:16:47] when it comes to be eaten?

[00:16:50] She goes back

[00:16:51] and forth

[00:16:52] for a while,

[00:16:53] her brain

[00:16:54] working as hard

[00:16:55] as it can,

[00:16:57] trying to work out

[00:16:58] what she should do.

[00:17:00] In the end,

[00:17:02] she takes a ladle of soup

[00:17:03] from the big pot

[00:17:04] and pours it

[00:17:06] into the little bowl,

[00:17:07] and then,

[00:17:09] carefully,

[00:17:10] oh,

[00:17:11] so carefully,

[00:17:13] carries the bowl

[00:17:13] outside,

[00:17:15] where it isn't as warm

[00:17:16] as inside the house,

[00:17:17] and the soup

[00:17:19] cools down

[00:17:20] until it is exactly

[00:17:22] as she found it.

[00:17:25] For a girl

[00:17:26] with her head

[00:17:27] in the clouds,

[00:17:28] that was really

[00:17:29] a very smart,

[00:17:31] practical thing

[00:17:32] to do,

[00:17:33] don't you think?

[00:17:34] She was determined

[00:17:35] to be kind,

[00:17:37] and so she found

[00:17:38] a way.

[00:17:40] Kindness,

[00:17:41] as perhaps you know,

[00:17:43] always wins.

[00:17:46] Goldilocks think

[00:17:47] she will sit down

[00:17:49] and wait

[00:17:49] for the family

[00:17:50] to return.

[00:17:51] Surely,

[00:17:52] they can't be long,

[00:17:54] since they left

[00:17:55] that soup ready

[00:17:56] and waiting for them.

[00:17:59] With that thought,

[00:18:00] she wanders

[00:18:01] through into

[00:18:02] the living room.

[00:18:04] There's a fire

[00:18:05] crackling merrily

[00:18:07] in the hearth,

[00:18:08] and along the mantelpiece

[00:18:09] are pictures

[00:18:10] of Daddy Slowloris

[00:18:11] and Mummy Slowloris

[00:18:13] and Baby Slowloris,

[00:18:15] all smiling

[00:18:16] and waving

[00:18:17] to the camera

[00:18:18] as they climb trees

[00:18:20] or swing

[00:18:21] on swings

[00:18:21] or build sandcastles

[00:18:24] on a golden beach.

[00:18:26] All round,

[00:18:27] there are piles

[00:18:28] and piles

[00:18:29] of books.

[00:18:31] Ah,

[00:18:32] there are also

[00:18:33] books on shelves,

[00:18:35] but it just seems

[00:18:36] they've run out

[00:18:37] of room.

[00:18:38] So,

[00:18:39] instead,

[00:18:40] the books

[00:18:40] are just in

[00:18:41] teetering,

[00:18:42] wobbling piles

[00:18:43] next to the sofa

[00:18:44] and the chairs

[00:18:45] and a beanbag

[00:18:47] and all sorts

[00:18:49] of cosy,

[00:18:50] comfy nooks

[00:18:51] where Goldilocks

[00:18:52] can just imagine

[00:18:54] the three slow

[00:18:55] lorises

[00:18:56] curling up

[00:18:57] to read.

[00:19:00] A grandfather clock

[00:19:01] in the corner

[00:19:02] of the room

[00:19:03] suddenly bongs

[00:19:05] and looking up,

[00:19:07] she sees

[00:19:08] that it is now

[00:19:09] seven o'clock.

[00:19:11] She glances

[00:19:11] outside

[00:19:12] and realises

[00:19:14] that it's now

[00:19:14] quite dark

[00:19:15] and she's grateful

[00:19:17] for all the candles

[00:19:18] around the room

[00:19:19] that had been lit

[00:19:20] before she arrived.

[00:19:23] she heads

[00:19:24] to the biggest chair

[00:19:25] right by the fire

[00:19:27] and sits on it,

[00:19:29] but,

[00:19:30] oh my,

[00:19:32] the chair

[00:19:32] is terribly,

[00:19:34] terribly hard

[00:19:35] and so she stands up

[00:19:38] and goes to the

[00:19:39] slightly smaller chair

[00:19:40] on the other side

[00:19:41] of the fire,

[00:19:42] but,

[00:19:43] oh,

[00:19:44] that one is

[00:19:45] terribly,

[00:19:46] terribly soft.

[00:19:48] soft.

[00:19:50] But,

[00:19:50] beside the soft chair

[00:19:52] is the smallest

[00:19:53] chair of all.

[00:19:55] Goldilocks

[00:19:56] looks at the cushions

[00:19:57] and presses them

[00:19:59] with her hand

[00:20:00] and realises

[00:20:01] that it is

[00:20:03] neither too hard

[00:20:04] nor too soft,

[00:20:06] but instead

[00:20:07] it is just right.

[00:20:10] she carefully

[00:20:12] eases down

[00:20:13] into the chair

[00:20:14] and is just

[00:20:16] stretching back

[00:20:17] with an

[00:20:17] oh

[00:20:19] and an

[00:20:22] her feet

[00:20:24] pointed

[00:20:24] towards the fire

[00:20:25] when she hears

[00:20:27] a snap

[00:20:27] and a bang

[00:20:29] and suddenly

[00:20:30] she's sitting

[00:20:31] on the floor

[00:20:31] and surrounded

[00:20:32] by bits of chair

[00:20:33] that was.

[00:20:34] She jumps up

[00:20:35] and realises

[00:20:37] what she's done,

[00:20:38] looking at

[00:20:39] the spindles

[00:20:40] of wood

[00:20:41] and the scattered

[00:20:42] cushions.

[00:20:44] She feels

[00:20:45] even more

[00:20:46] awful

[00:20:46] than when she

[00:20:47] realised

[00:20:47] she'd eaten

[00:20:48] all of the

[00:20:48] baby slow

[00:20:49] loris's soup.

[00:20:52] Goldilocks

[00:20:52] gets down

[00:20:53] on her hands

[00:20:54] and knees

[00:20:55] and picks up

[00:20:56] all of the

[00:20:57] pieces of wood,

[00:20:59] wondering

[00:20:59] for a moment

[00:21:00] if she shouldn't

[00:21:02] throw them

[00:21:02] into the fire

[00:21:03] and pretend

[00:21:03] there was never

[00:21:05] any chair

[00:21:05] there at all.

[00:21:07] But,

[00:21:08] of course,

[00:21:09] her kindness

[00:21:10] wins

[00:21:11] and she's

[00:21:12] determined

[00:21:13] to find

[00:21:14] an answer.

[00:21:17] Looking at

[00:21:18] the other

[00:21:18] two chairs,

[00:21:19] she sees

[00:21:20] that they're

[00:21:21] exactly the

[00:21:22] same

[00:21:23] except that

[00:21:24] one is

[00:21:25] bigger than

[00:21:25] the other.

[00:21:26] And looking

[00:21:27] at the pieces

[00:21:28] of wood

[00:21:29] in her hands,

[00:21:30] she sees

[00:21:31] that they

[00:21:31] look as if

[00:21:32] they should

[00:21:32] make a chair

[00:21:33] exactly like

[00:21:34] the other

[00:21:34] two,

[00:21:35] only smaller.

[00:21:37] She frowns

[00:21:38] a little

[00:21:39] as she

[00:21:39] concentrates

[00:21:40] as hard

[00:21:41] as she

[00:21:41] can,

[00:21:42] brain

[00:21:43] pushing

[00:21:43] itself

[00:21:44] to its

[00:21:44] absolute

[00:21:45] maximum

[00:21:46] as she

[00:21:47] copies

[00:21:47] the bigger

[00:21:48] chairs

[00:21:49] and pushes

[00:21:50] the bits

[00:21:50] of wood

[00:21:51] back together

[00:21:52] again.

[00:21:54] Goldilocks

[00:21:55] can't quite

[00:21:56] believe it,

[00:21:57] but she's

[00:21:58] only gone

[00:21:59] and fixed

[00:22:00] the chair.

[00:22:01] It looks

[00:22:02] exactly as

[00:22:03] it did

[00:22:03] before.

[00:22:05] She's a bit

[00:22:06] worried that

[00:22:06] maybe it

[00:22:07] isn't as

[00:22:08] strong as

[00:22:09] it once

[00:22:09] was,

[00:22:10] so she

[00:22:11] decides to

[00:22:12] put it

[00:22:12] next to

[00:22:13] the daddy

[00:22:13] slow

[00:22:13] Loris's

[00:22:14] chair.

[00:22:15] That way

[00:22:16] it will

[00:22:17] make them

[00:22:17] curious

[00:22:18] and they

[00:22:18] will check

[00:22:19] the chair

[00:22:20] before

[00:22:20] baby

[00:22:21] slow

[00:22:21] Loris

[00:22:22] sits

[00:22:22] down.

[00:22:23] Yes,

[00:22:24] she tells

[00:22:24] herself,

[00:22:25] this is

[00:22:26] the perfect

[00:22:27] solution.

[00:22:28] This is

[00:22:29] her way

[00:22:30] of owning

[00:22:31] up to

[00:22:31] what she

[00:22:31] did.

[00:22:34] She

[00:22:35] steps

[00:22:35] back

[00:22:36] to look

[00:22:36] at the

[00:22:36] scene,

[00:22:37] the fireplace

[00:22:38] and the

[00:22:39] chairs,

[00:22:40] the slow

[00:22:40] dancing of

[00:22:41] the candle

[00:22:42] flames and

[00:22:43] goes to

[00:22:44] the window

[00:22:44] to look

[00:22:45] outside.

[00:22:47] The sky

[00:22:48] is by

[00:22:48] now quite

[00:22:49] dark,

[00:22:50] but through

[00:22:51] the trees

[00:22:52] she can

[00:22:52] just about

[00:22:53] see the

[00:22:54] big yellow

[00:22:54] moon

[00:22:55] rising.

[00:22:57] An owl

[00:22:57] hoots as

[00:22:59] if to

[00:22:59] confirm

[00:22:59] that,

[00:23:00] yes,

[00:23:01] it is

[00:23:01] night

[00:23:02] time and

[00:23:02] yes,

[00:23:04] it is

[00:23:04] time for

[00:23:05] bed.

[00:23:07] Goldilocks

[00:23:08] yawns and

[00:23:09] stretches,

[00:23:10] and suddenly

[00:23:12] feels more

[00:23:13] tired than

[00:23:14] she has

[00:23:14] in years.

[00:23:16] Her eyes

[00:23:17] keep

[00:23:17] closing

[00:23:18] and her

[00:23:19] head

[00:23:20] keeps

[00:23:20] drooping

[00:23:21] and she

[00:23:22] realises

[00:23:23] she's already

[00:23:25] late to the

[00:23:25] fate

[00:23:26] and perhaps

[00:23:28] she should

[00:23:28] just take

[00:23:29] a nap

[00:23:29] here

[00:23:30] instead.

[00:23:31] She goes

[00:23:33] up the

[00:23:33] stairs,

[00:23:34] hanging

[00:23:35] onto the

[00:23:35] rail at

[00:23:36] the side

[00:23:37] to pull

[00:23:37] herself up

[00:23:38] because

[00:23:39] her legs

[00:23:40] suddenly

[00:23:41] feel as

[00:23:42] if

[00:23:42] they're

[00:23:43] made

[00:23:43] of the

[00:23:43] heaviest

[00:23:44] thing

[00:23:45] in the

[00:23:46] world.

[00:23:47] And she

[00:23:48] goes into

[00:23:48] the biggest

[00:23:49] bedroom

[00:23:50] upstairs.

[00:23:52] She

[00:23:53] climbs

[00:23:53] into the

[00:23:54] biggest

[00:23:54] bed,

[00:23:56] turning

[00:23:56] this way

[00:23:57] and that,

[00:23:59] trying to

[00:23:59] get comfortable

[00:24:00] but,

[00:24:01] oh,

[00:24:02] the bed

[00:24:03] is too

[00:24:03] hard.

[00:24:04] it's

[00:24:06] just

[00:24:06] like

[00:24:06] the

[00:24:07] chair

[00:24:07] downstairs,

[00:24:08] she

[00:24:08] thinks.

[00:24:10] And

[00:24:11] clearly,

[00:24:12] the

[00:24:12] daddy

[00:24:12] slow

[00:24:13] Loris

[00:24:14] likes

[00:24:14] a good

[00:24:15] firm

[00:24:15] mattress

[00:24:16] when he

[00:24:17] falls

[00:24:17] asleep.

[00:24:19] And

[00:24:20] so,

[00:24:20] she

[00:24:21] climbs

[00:24:21] into

[00:24:22] the

[00:24:22] slightly

[00:24:22] smaller

[00:24:23] bed,

[00:24:24] turning

[00:24:25] first

[00:24:25] to her

[00:24:26] left

[00:24:26] side

[00:24:27] and

[00:24:27] then

[00:24:28] to her

[00:24:28] right,

[00:24:29] resting

[00:24:30] her head

[00:24:31] high on

[00:24:32] the pillow

[00:24:32] and

[00:24:33] then

[00:24:33] not

[00:24:33] on

[00:24:34] the

[00:24:34] pillow

[00:24:34] at

[00:24:34] all.

[00:24:35] But

[00:24:36] whether

[00:24:36] she's

[00:24:37] upside

[00:24:37] down

[00:24:38] or

[00:24:38] curled

[00:24:38] up

[00:24:39] in

[00:24:39] a

[00:24:39] ball

[00:24:39] or

[00:24:40] stretched

[00:24:41] out

[00:24:41] like

[00:24:42] an

[00:24:42] arrow,

[00:24:43] she

[00:24:43] just

[00:24:44] can't

[00:24:45] get

[00:24:45] comfortable.

[00:24:47] Just

[00:24:47] like

[00:24:47] the

[00:24:48] mummy

[00:24:48] slow

[00:24:48] Loris'

[00:24:49] chair

[00:24:49] downstairs,

[00:24:50] the

[00:24:51] bed

[00:24:51] is

[00:24:52] far

[00:24:52] too

[00:24:53] soft.

[00:24:55] Goldilocks

[00:24:56] climbs

[00:24:57] down

[00:24:57] and

[00:24:58] wanders

[00:24:59] yawning

[00:24:59] and

[00:25:00] stretching

[00:25:00] towards

[00:25:01] the

[00:25:02] other

[00:25:02] bedroom.

[00:25:04] There

[00:25:04] is a

[00:25:04] small

[00:25:05] bed

[00:25:05] in

[00:25:06] the

[00:25:06] corner

[00:25:06] and

[00:25:07] Goldilocks

[00:25:08] tests

[00:25:08] it

[00:25:08] with

[00:25:09] her

[00:25:09] hand,

[00:25:10] pushing

[00:25:11] down

[00:25:11] to

[00:25:12] see

[00:25:12] if

[00:25:12] it

[00:25:12] is

[00:25:13] too

[00:25:13] hard

[00:25:14] or

[00:25:14] too

[00:25:14] soft.

[00:25:16] But

[00:25:16] no,

[00:25:17] she

[00:25:18] finds

[00:25:18] it

[00:25:18] just

[00:25:19] right,

[00:25:20] just

[00:25:21] like

[00:25:22] the

[00:25:22] baby

[00:25:22] slow

[00:25:23] Loris'

[00:25:23] chair

[00:25:24] downstairs.

[00:25:26] She

[00:25:27] pulls

[00:25:28] back

[00:25:28] the

[00:25:28] blanket

[00:25:29] and

[00:25:30] climbs

[00:25:30] into

[00:25:30] the

[00:25:31] bed,

[00:25:31] and

[00:25:32] here

[00:25:33] she

[00:25:34] turns

[00:25:34] just

[00:25:35] the

[00:25:36] once,

[00:25:37] drawing

[00:25:38] her

[00:25:38] knees

[00:25:38] up

[00:25:39] slightly

[00:25:40] and

[00:25:41] pulling

[00:25:41] the

[00:25:42] soft

[00:25:42] blanket

[00:25:43] all

[00:25:44] the

[00:25:44] way

[00:25:44] to

[00:25:44] her

[00:25:44] chin

[00:25:45] and

[00:25:46] nestling

[00:25:47] her

[00:25:47] head

[00:25:48] into

[00:25:49] the

[00:25:49] pillow.

[00:25:50] And

[00:25:51] it's

[00:25:52] just

[00:25:53] moments

[00:25:53] before

[00:25:54] she's

[00:25:55] fast

[00:25:55] asleep.

[00:25:58] It's

[00:25:59] just

[00:25:59] about

[00:26:00] this

[00:26:00] time

[00:26:00] that

[00:26:01] the

[00:26:01] three

[00:26:01] slow

[00:26:01] Lorises

[00:26:02] come

[00:26:02] back

[00:26:03] from

[00:26:03] the

[00:26:03] fate.

[00:26:04] The

[00:26:05] daddy

[00:26:05] slow

[00:26:05] Loris

[00:26:06] is

[00:26:06] carrying

[00:26:07] the

[00:26:07] baby

[00:26:07] slow

[00:26:07] Loris

[00:26:08] in

[00:26:08] his

[00:26:08] arms

[00:26:09] because

[00:26:10] the

[00:26:10] baby's

[00:26:11] so

[00:26:11] very

[00:26:11] tired

[00:26:12] after

[00:26:12] such

[00:26:13] a

[00:26:13] long

[00:26:13] and

[00:26:14] exciting

[00:26:14] day.

[00:26:16] Everyone

[00:26:17] in

[00:26:17] sleepy

[00:26:18] forest

[00:26:18] was a

[00:26:19] little

[00:26:19] surprised

[00:26:20] that

[00:26:21] the

[00:26:21] prize

[00:26:21] winning

[00:26:22] person

[00:26:22] hadn't

[00:26:23] shown

[00:26:23] up

[00:26:23] at

[00:26:24] the

[00:26:24] fate.

[00:26:24] But

[00:26:25] then

[00:26:26] they

[00:26:26] thought

[00:26:26] perhaps

[00:26:27] she

[00:26:27] hadn't

[00:26:27] been

[00:26:28] able

[00:26:28] to

[00:26:28] come

[00:26:28] after

[00:26:29] all

[00:26:29] as

[00:26:30] is

[00:26:30] sometimes

[00:26:31] the

[00:26:31] way.

[00:26:32] And

[00:26:33] they

[00:26:33] had

[00:26:33] settled

[00:26:34] down

[00:26:34] to

[00:26:34] enjoy

[00:26:35] the

[00:26:35] games

[00:26:36] and

[00:26:36] Betty

[00:26:36] Badger's

[00:26:37] cakes

[00:26:37] and

[00:26:38] treats

[00:26:38] and

[00:26:39] all

[00:26:39] had

[00:26:40] just

[00:26:40] had

[00:26:40] the

[00:26:56] And

[00:26:56] then

[00:26:56] as

[00:26:57] they

[00:26:57] always

[00:26:58] do

[00:26:58] they

[00:26:59] head

[00:26:59] into

[00:26:59] the

[00:27:00] living

[00:27:00] room

[00:27:00] so

[00:27:01] Mommy

[00:27:01] Slow

[00:27:02] Loris

[00:27:02] can

[00:27:02] read

[00:27:03] everyone

[00:27:03] a

[00:27:04] story

[00:27:04] and

[00:27:05] this

[00:27:05] is

[00:27:06] where

[00:27:06] they

[00:27:06] notice

[00:27:07] that

[00:27:07] something

[00:27:07] is

[00:27:08] different.

[00:27:09] The

[00:27:09] smallest

[00:27:10] chair

[00:27:11] isn't

[00:27:12] where

[00:27:12] it's

[00:27:13] supposed

[00:27:13] to

[00:27:13] be.

[00:27:16] Strange

[00:27:16] mutters

[00:27:18] Daddy

[00:27:18] Slow

[00:27:18] Loris

[00:27:19] heading

[00:27:20] over

[00:27:20] to

[00:27:20] the

[00:27:20] chair.

[00:27:22] He

[00:27:22] picks

[00:27:22] it

[00:27:23] up

[00:27:23] and

[00:27:23] turns

[00:27:24] it

[00:27:24] round

[00:27:24] and

[00:27:25] can't

[00:27:25] see

[00:27:25] anything

[00:27:26] wrong

[00:27:26] with

[00:27:27] it

[00:27:27] at

[00:27:27] all.

[00:27:29] I

[00:27:29] know

[00:27:30] chairs

[00:27:31] have

[00:27:31] legs

[00:27:32] but

[00:27:33] I

[00:27:33] didn't

[00:27:34] think

[00:27:34] they

[00:27:34] could

[00:27:34] use

[00:27:35] them

[00:27:35] he

[00:27:36] says

[00:27:37] aloud.

[00:27:38] They

[00:27:39] decide

[00:27:40] they're

[00:27:40] too

[00:27:40] tired

[00:27:41] to

[00:27:41] worry

[00:27:41] about

[00:27:42] what

[00:27:42] might

[00:27:42] have

[00:27:42] happened

[00:27:43] and

[00:27:44] instead

[00:27:44] of

[00:27:44] a

[00:27:44] story

[00:27:45] tonight

[00:27:45] they

[00:27:46] would

[00:27:46] all

[00:27:46] go

[00:27:47] straight

[00:27:47] to

[00:27:47] bed

[00:27:48] which

[00:27:49] is

[00:27:50] where

[00:27:50] of

[00:27:50] course

[00:27:51] baby

[00:27:52] Slow

[00:27:52] Loris

[00:27:53] finds

[00:27:53] Goldilocks

[00:27:54] curled up

[00:27:55] fast

[00:27:56] asleep.

[00:27:57] The

[00:27:58] beautiful

[00:27:58] little

[00:27:59] girl

[00:27:59] has a

[00:28:00] sweet

[00:28:00] smile

[00:28:01] on her

[00:28:01] face

[00:28:02] and

[00:28:03] she's

[00:28:03] so

[00:28:04] very

[00:28:04] very

[00:28:05] asleep

[00:28:06] that

[00:28:07] the

[00:28:07] baby

[00:28:08] Slow

[00:28:08] Loris

[00:28:09] doesn't

[00:28:09] dream

[00:28:10] of

[00:28:10] waking

[00:28:10] her.

[00:28:11] She

[00:28:12] goes

[00:28:12] and

[00:28:12] finds

[00:28:13] Mummy

[00:28:13] and

[00:28:13] Daddy

[00:28:14] and

[00:28:25] ่›‡

[00:28:29] whispers

[00:28:30] Mummy

[00:28:30] Slow

[00:28:31] Loris

[00:28:31] who

[00:28:37] won

[00:28:37] the

[00:28:38] snoozy

[00:28:38] dreamy

[00:28:39] delight

[00:28:40] prize.

[00:28:42] She

[00:28:42] must

[00:28:43] have

[00:28:43] got

[00:28:43] lost

[00:28:44] poor

[00:28:45] thing.

[00:28:46] Come

[00:28:47] baby

[00:28:48] you're

[00:28:49] sleeping

[00:28:49] with me

[00:28:50] tonight.

[00:28:52] We'll

[00:28:53] leave her

[00:28:53] be

[00:28:54] until

[00:28:54] the

[00:28:55] morning

[00:28:55] And the next day, when Goldilocks wakes and realises she's spent the whole night in the home of the Slow Loris family,

[00:29:07] she's quite horrified until she finds the three of them downstairs waiting for her,

[00:29:15] a chair and a bowl ready at the table for her.

[00:29:19] And on that day, they take her around Sleepy Forest and she gets to meet everyone after all.

[00:29:29] Not at the special fate, of course, because she missed that.

[00:29:34] But she does get to dance with Cuddle and Kevin.

[00:29:38] And she does get to sing with Kira as Coco plays the ukulele.

[00:29:44] And she does get to visit Betty Badger's bakery.

[00:29:49] And eat a special Sleepy Forest muffin that has been made with a secret Sleepy Forest recipe.

[00:29:59] And she visits all the places and all the creatures she's ever heard about.

[00:30:05] And promises to send letters and postcards.

[00:30:09] And loves the smart red hat that Winnie the Warthog insists she take from Heavenly Hats.

[00:30:18] And promises Captain Feathers to look out for her when she next flies to Greenland, where Goldilocks lives.

[00:30:28] But for now, Goldilocks doesn't know any of this is going to happen.

[00:30:36] Because for now, just like you, she's curled up in bed.

[00:30:41] She is having a wonderful dream.

[00:30:45] All about lying on a moss-covered stone with a bright green lizard with blue eye shadow in the heart of a sunlight-dappled forest.

[00:30:58] And then she's walking up to a whitewashed cottage with an emerald green door and smoke pouring cheerfully from the chimney.

[00:31:11] And somehow she's inside.

[00:31:16] And a grandfather clock is solemnly telling her the time.

[00:31:21] And an owl is hooting outside as he disappears into the night.

[00:31:28] And the moon is rising huge and golden through the trees.

[00:31:37] And even in her dream, Goldilocks isn't quite sure anymore what is real and what is a dream.

[00:31:47] And she almost wonders if it is possible to dream within a dream.

[00:31:55] For a little girl who is not known for her brains, she is a very smart girl indeed.

[00:32:07] Because even while she's fast asleep, Goldilocks realises that it doesn't matter whether it is real or whether it's just a dream.

[00:32:20] For our dreams can become as real as we want them to be.

[00:32:25] And everything that is wonderful in the world can be as magical as we wish.

[00:32:33] If we believe a little harder and wish a little more.

[00:32:40] As the wisest people in the world say.

[00:32:44] And as Goldilocks thinks as she sleeps in that little cottage in the woods with the emerald door.

[00:32:53] If you never have a dream, then you will never have a dream come true.
