[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Hello and welcome back to Koala Moon, a podcast of original children's bedtime stories and
[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_00]: meditations designed to make bedtime a dream.
[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_00]: We are bursting at the seams here in the Cocoa Club and we definitely need an upgrade to
[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_00]: our clubhouse soon thanks to all of you new joiners I can barely close the front door.
[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Tonight we are officially welcoming Freddie who will be six on October the first, woohoo!
[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And Caroline and Everett from Buffalo who love Hector and Sonny in the Jupiter Twins so I think
[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_00]: you're going to be smiling very soon.
[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And also welcome to Will and Fay from Massachusetts USA and Emerson who's just turned eight
[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and gave some pocket money towards her subscription.
[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Way to go Emerson!
[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I hope you had a lovely birthday celebration and everyone enjoy your unlocked stories and
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: keep telling us your fantastically imaginative story ideas please.
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: We love turning them into bedtime stories for you.
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: In tonight's story we return to see the Jupiter Twins, it's been a while.
[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_00]: This time they're preparing to go home for half term but there's a magical creature
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: making it extra difficult for them.
[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Cranky the house elf.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_00]: As they try to stop his plans of ruining their packing the Jupiter Twins eventually
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_00]: realise the reason for his mischief and it changes their point of view entirely.
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Now before I get started make sure you're as cosy and comfy as possible in bed.
[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Do whatever your body needs to feel relaxed.
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Perhaps stretch, wriggle, point your toes, scrunch up your face, shrug your shoulders
[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and then when you're ready let everything just relax
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and dissolve into the mattress beneath you.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: That's right, breathe gently in and out
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and let all your muscles go as soft smooth and still as possible.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Lovely.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's time to head over to the Leora Academy
[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and find out for ourselves just what is going on.
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: This is Jupiter Twins Cranky the house elf by Luke Prendergast.
[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: The fact was that it took more than just teachers to run the Leora Academy of Magic.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: As Professor Greenfingers sat in the greenhouses teaching plant magic.
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: As Professor Twinkles gazed at the stars in her astrology tower
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and as Dr Strongheart stood at the front of the lab
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_00]: teaching cure of magical maladies, all the while throughout the school
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_00]: other magical beings were hard at work.
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_00]: The Stone Lions for instance who studied the side of the broad staircase
[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_00]: that led up to Leora Academy guarded the premises and kept the students safe.
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: A small army of pixies who knew more than any other creatures in this world
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_00]: or any other about the mysterious workings of nature
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: tended to the gardens and woodland trees on the school grounds.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And a huge team of house elves were busy throughout the building
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_00]: making sure rooms were clean, tables were cleared
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and delicious meals were served for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Lily and Jake Jupiter were very grateful for all the hard work these
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: creatures put in to make their time at Leora Academy so enjoyable.
[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: They always made sure to thank the Stone Lions whenever they passed them
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and compliment them on how shiny they looked
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and they always went to thank the chefs for the delicious meals
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and tell the pixies how lush and beautiful the gardens were.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_00]: But they had to admit that there was one creature they had a hard time being grateful
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: towards all the time, Cranky the Grumpy House Elf.
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately for them Cranky was the house elf in charge of overseeing
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_00]: the Jupiter twins dormitory and corridor
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and when they said he was grumpy they weren't kidding.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_00]: He was seriously very grumpy.
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Cranky grumbled about the tiniest speck of dust
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_00]: or loose thread of fabric he might find on the floor.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_00]: He stomped in at the earliest hours of the morning before the sun was even up
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and slammed the doors so loudly the twins ears rang for the rest of the day
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and they were pretty sure.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: He plucked leaves off of Jake's magical healing cabbage plant when they weren't looking.
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake and Lily always tried to be friendly to him giving him big beaming smiles whenever they saw him
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and asking him how he was and how his day was going but Cranky would only scowl at them
[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_00]: or ask them in his extremely grouchy way how they thought his day was going
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_00]: given as he spent it following around cleaning up after a bunch of pesky kids
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: or else he would just shoot them a cold glare and then disappear
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: for that was one of the magic skills that house elves possessed they could just vanish into thin air.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Other students at the Leora Academy were very close to the house elves who looked after them
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_00]: sharing cups of hot chocolate with them in the evening
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: sitting cross-legged on their beds chatting and laughing and joking
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and even exchanging gifts on birthdays and at Christmases but not the Jupiter twins.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: It seemed that with Cranky they'd simply drawn the short straw.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't see how it would ever be possible to crack his tough exterior
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: they just had to accept it they'd never be friends.
[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Soon enough the end of the first half of the school year arrived classes were finished
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: magical tests had been completed and the students of Leora Academy had enjoyed their
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: goodbye feast in the great dining hall. Their beloved headmistress Dr Howard
[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_00]: had stood at the front of the hall dressed in sky blue robes and given a speech
[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_00]: congratulating them all on their hard work and wishing them an enjoyable week's break at home
[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: with their families. The students had broken into applause filled up their stomachs with delicious
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_00]: food and headed off to their dormitories to pack their suitcases. Their parents would be arriving
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_00]: to pick them up the very next morning and of course not a single one of them was packed early
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and ready to go. Just like the others Jake and Lily Jupiter returned to their dormitories too
[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_00]: they pulled their brass and leather trunks out from beneath their beds
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_00]: threw them open and began to pack. Their clothes and robes were folded and placed neatly within
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_00]: alongside stacks of magical textbooks and a couple of treasured family photographs.
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake packed all of his broomstick flying memorabilia the posters of famous flyers
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and trophies he'd won in school competitions and Lily made sure she'd packed the special food
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_00]: to feed her pet talking slug. And as they packed they spoke about how excited they were to be
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_00]: heading back home. They couldn't wait for their mum's delicious homemade hot cross buns
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and seeing all their old friends from home. They couldn't wait to play in the park
[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and have sleepovers and all in all have a well-deserved relaxing break from all the
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_00]: hard school work they'd been doing. Then Lily suddenly remembered that she had lent a very
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: special book of magical folktales to a friend down the corridor. She needed to go fetch it so
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: that she could read the tales over the break so she scurried off and came back with the big
[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_00]: dusty volume pressed to her chest. She walked across the room ready to pack the book away,
[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_00]: looked down at her leather trunk and with a startled shock discovered it was empty.
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Everything she had packed in it was taken out. There it all was thrown in a heap on her bed.
[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Lily turned around and stared at Jake who was sitting on his own bed folding a fair lined
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_00]: cloak hood as though nothing in the world had happened. In fact it looked to Lily like he
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_00]: was trying a little too hard to act nonchalant. In fact it made him look pretty suspicious
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_01]: if you asked her. Jake, she said, what was the point of doing that? Jake didn't even look up.
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Doing what? He asked. This, she said, her little exasperated now pointing at the pile of her
[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: unpacked belongings lying on her bed. Why would you unpack my whole suitcase? Is it some kind of a joke?
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Now Jake looked over at her with an expression of the fuddlement clouding his face.
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Well Lily thought to herself he was a pretty good actor. She'd give him that.
[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_00]: What do you mean I've unpacked your whole suitcase? Jake asked. I've been sitting here the whole time.
[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Then how, Lily asked, is all my stuff now lying on my bed? Come on Jake, I know you did it.
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake hopped off his bed and came over to see what Lily was talking about.
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: He peered into her leather trunk and had to admit that it was indeed empty.
[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_00]: All her stuff was on her bed but it hadn't been him who did it.
[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I promised Lily, he told her, I haven't done anything with your stuff.
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Then how do you suggest it happened? She asked. Maybe you think it emptied itself by magic?
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake shook his head in resignation. I don't even know a spell that could do that, he said.
[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And as he turned around and went back to his own packing, Lily got set on refolding her clothes
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and putting them back into her suitcase. Why Jake wouldn't fess up, she just didn't know.
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't like him to play a practical trick and then not even own up to it and have a laugh about
[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_00]: it. It was, she thought, rather out of character. Just as she was having these thoughts, they came
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_00]: agroan from the other side of the room. Oh Lily, Jake said. I said I didn't unpack your trunk.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have to get me back like this. Lily looked over and saw that all of Jake's belongings,
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_00]: which had just a few moments ago been neatly folded in his own trunk, were now scattered
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: all over the bed. And he was looking at her with accusation in his eyes.
[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake, she said, putting both hands on her hips. That wasn't me. You've seen that I've been over
[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_00]: here the whole time. If this is some elaborate trick you're playing on me, you should just
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_00]: quit it now. Why would I place a trick on you that involves unpacking my own trunk? He asked her.
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Sounds like that would be more like playing a trick on myself.
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_00]: You're better than me at magic. I bet you know a spell that could have unpacked my trunk
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_01]: while I wasn't looking. Well, I don't, Lily said. Even if I did, I wouldn't use it.
[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Unlike you, I don't play silly tricks like that. And so the Jupiter twins, who usually got on in such
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: perfect harmony, fell into bickering, each of them accusing the other of playing a dastardly
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: trick upon them. So absorbed in their quarrelling, were they, that at first, neither of them noticed
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_00]: the strangest thing starting to happen. But then Jake caught sight of it out of the corner of his eye
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and held up a hand to stop Lily speaking. Look, he whispered, pointing behind her.
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_00]: She turned and saw that the t-shirts which she had just diligently
[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_00]: refolded and repacked into her trunk were unfolding themselves, floating up into the air
[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and tossing themselves back into a heap on her bed. It's a ghost, Jake whispered.
[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Or maybe our belongings have been bewitched, Lily ventured.
[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe, said Jake, they're not our belongings at all. Maybe they're little people who've been
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: transfigured into clothes and books and whatnot. And now they're trying to flee being trapped
[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_00]: inside the trunk. That sounded a little ludicrous to them both, and they stood there, stroking their
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_00]: chins, wondering what could be causing Lily's stuff to be acting in such a peculiar way.
[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_00]: When there was a little flicker in the air, like a glitch, and for the briefest second,
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_00]: a familiar house elf featured figure appeared before them, before promptly disappearing again.
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no, Lily exclaimed. It's not a ghost or a strange bewitchment at all. It's cranky.
[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: He's the one who's emptying all our stuff out of our trunks.
[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And with that, the Jupiter twins started chasing the invisible creature around the room.
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Wherever they saw one of their possessions begin to levitate, they knew that cranky was behind it,
[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and they leapt upon the spot trying to catch him. But they never could. He always slipped
[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_00]: right out of their grasp. Then finally the house elf grabbed hold of a whole bunch of their clothes,
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: jumped out of the door and ran down the corridor. Lily and Jake watched,
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_00]: panting a little as their clothes seemed to fly away from them of their own accord
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and disappear out of sight.
[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was cranky all along, said Lily. I'm sorry for ever suspecting you of playing a trick on me, Jake.
[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh that's alright, replied her brother with a little grin. It is the kind of thing I do,
[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_01]: but this time it wasn't me. Now how are we going to get our things back?
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess, said Lily. We have to go find cranky. Jake nodded and then frowned.
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_00]: But how, he asked, do we find an invisible creature who doesn't want to be found?
[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_00]: With this question still hovering over them like a mischievous imp,
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_00]: the Jupiter twins headed down the corridor to search for cranky.
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_00]: They kept their eyes peeled for any clothes that seemed to be flying around unaided.
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_00]: That would be the sign that cranky was around. But it wasn't cranky that the
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Jupiter twins found first. In fact, it was Dr Howard, their head teacher.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Hello Lily, hello Jake, she said, pausing outside her office door.
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: What are you two doing, wandering around the corridors at this time?
[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Shouldn't you be packing up your trunks and preparing to head home to your family tomorrow?
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And Lily and Jake, feeling rather relieved to have bumped into their head teacher,
[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_00]: who they were sure would be able to help them out with their predicament,
[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_00]: told her the whole story. How cranky the house elf seemed dead set on sabotaging their attempts to pack.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: This because he's just so grumpy, Jake explained, and wants to make life difficult for everyone.
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So Dr Howard, please could you help us and order cranky to give us back our things?
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_00]: At that, Dr Howard gave a gentle chuckle. She took off her glasses and looked down at
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_00]: the Jupiter twins with her watery, kindly green eyes. Now she said, I'm not sure I can
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: order cranky to do anything at all. This seems to be something you have to resolve between yourselves.
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: But I can offer one small piece of advice. It seems to me that nobody is ever grumpy because
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_00]: they want to be so. Usually, we're grumpy because there's something going on under the surface.
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't you agree? So when you do find cranky, which I'm sure you will,
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I recommend you show a little sympathy and try to see what's going on beneath the surface,
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: rather than simply being irritated with him. When Dr Howard finished speaking,
[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_00]: she gave a big yawn and promptly wished the Jupiter twins good night, disappearing into her office.
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Lily and Jake continued down the corridor, both thinking privately that Dr Howard's advice
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_00]: sounded, as ever, rather wise indeed. Showing some sympathy towards cranky?
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_00]: They wouldn't have thought of it themselves, but they could see right away that it was the
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_00]: right idea. Soon they spotted a house elf up ahead, but it wasn't cranky. It was a friendly
[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_00]: young house elf named Mary, who waved at the twins and gave them a hug. Lily told Mary they were
[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_00]: looking for cranky, and Mary told them she knew just where he'd be.
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: He's probably in the kitchen, she said, warming his feet by the fire. It's his favourite place to be.
[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Lily and Jake had never imagined cranky, doing anything as cosy as warming his feet by the fire.
[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_00]: But they followed Mary down to the kitchen, and when she swung open the door,
[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_00]: there was cranky, just like she'd said he'd be. He had his big house elf feet
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_00]: pointed towards the fire, toasting his swords, while beside him sat the pile of Lily and Jake's clothes.
[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_00]: When cranky saw the Jupiter twins come into the kitchen, his eyes went wide,
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and he half jumped up as they're ready to flee once again. But Jake put up a peaceful hand
[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and said, Wait cranky, don't disappear we're not mad, we only want to talk to you.
[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Cranky sat back down, though he still had his eyes narrowed at them suspiciously.
[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake and Lily went over to him to where the warm glow of the fire warmed their hands and lit up
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_00]: their cheeks. Cranky, Jake said, we just wanted to ask you,
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_00]: is there a reason you were unpacking our trunks and taking our clothes?
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Not any reason you pesky kids would ever understand, he muttered. But cranky, Lily said gently,
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_00]: if you explain to us, maybe we could try to understand where all is, try us.
[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Cranky stared into the flickering flames which made shadows twirl and dance all over his face.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: He looked deep in contemplation, but at last he sighed and said,
[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not fair though you kids get to go home. Jake frowned.
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_00]: That wasn't what he'd expected cranky to say. What do you mean?
[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_00]: He asked, What I mean? Cranky said, Is that every half term you get to pack up your stuff and go home
[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_00]: to see your family. And you and Lily sit in your room talking about all the relaxing things you
[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_00]: get to do. How you get to eat your mum's hot cross buns, how you get to hang out with your friends and
[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_00]: to be honest all that talk makes me a bit, well it makes me a bit cranky.
[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_00]: What I would do for a little break, what I would do to be able to pack my things and go away
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_00]: for a week. I'm not really sure what a hot cross bun is but I sure would like to try one,
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but no all cranky does is work, work, work. No break for cranky and no holiday for cranky either
[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_00]: because there's nowhere for cranky to go. So when I saw you packing your stuff into your
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_00]: trunks earlier it made me think about how boring it's going to be around here. Working away
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_01]: even when you pesky kids are gone and so well. And cranky pointed at the pile of clothes.
[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_00]: As Lily had listened to cranky speak a peculiar feeling was moving through her heart.
[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_00]: It was like the flames of the fire were sending their warmth into her very core because with each
[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_00]: word cranky said Lily began to understand him better and quite frankly she sympathised.
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_00]: How tedious it must be to have to work all the time and even though Lyora Academy was a beautiful
[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_00]: place to live and a really fun school to go to she didn't think she'd be happy having to be here
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_00]: all the time with nowhere else to go and no break to be had. No, she understood what cranky was saying
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_00]: too. If she were in his position she'd be pretty grumpy too. She held out a hand
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and the house elf slipped his cool palm into hers.
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for explaining that to us cranky she said you're right everyone deserves a break
[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and a hot cross button too and we want to help you. If you're ready to give us back our things
[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I've come up with a little plan. Do you want to hear it? Cranky the house elf looked into Lily's
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_00]: eyes with the same orange flames flickering in both. He nodded yes please he said. The next morning
[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_00]: when Lily and Jake Jupiter's mum arrived to take them home from the Lyora Academy. The twins
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_00]: were stood ready in their dormitory with their brass and leather trunks packed and locked but
[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_00]: they weren't the only ones there. Stood beside them was cranky the house elf
[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and he had a fully packed bag with him too.
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on here then? The twins mother asked looking from Lily to Jake to Cranky and back again.
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Who's this mum said Jake please meet our friend Cranky. Nice to meet you said their mom with a smile.
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Cranky works at the academy Lily explained but he sure is in need of a holiday so we were wondering
[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_00]: if he can come home with us for the break. Please can he mum pretty please? The Jupiter twins mum
[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_00]: only had to think about it a few moments. Of course he can. Any friend of yours is always welcome in our
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01]: home. Come on Cranky off we go. Let's get you home. I've got a tray of freshly cooked hot cross
[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_00]: buns just waiting to be eaten and with that the four of them Jake and Lily Jupiter their mum
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and their new friend Cranky left the Lyora Academy and travelled back together to the Jupiter house.
[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Cranky as it turned out loved hot cross buns and he loved sleepovers and he loved playing in the
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_00]: park too. It was the first break he had enjoyed in a long long time with long lions in the mornings
[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and lazy fun filled days. And when they all returned to Lyora Academy Cranky felt very refreshed indeed
[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and the Jupiter twins did too. Cranky became one of their closest friends in the whole school
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_00]: waking them up when the sun rose with cups of tea and popping over to hear how their days had gone
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_00]: once their lessons were all finished. And Cranky came back home with the Jupiter twins
[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_00]: for the Christmas break and then for spring and summer too. He was always after that
[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_00]: a welcomed guest in the Jupiter household just as Jake and Lily's mum had said. He smiled and laughed
[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and was a pleasure to be around and Jake and Lily had to admit even though he was still called
[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Cranky the house elf they couldn't describe him as grumpy anymore or at least not very often.
