[00:00:10] Hello and welcome back to Koala Moon, a podcast of original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime a dream.

[00:00:21] Are you relaxed and ready to listen to a story?

[00:00:26] Whilst you lie there snuggly and warm, can you close your eyes? That's it. Close them tight and see what you can see.

[00:00:37] It might sound silly, but sometimes when I close my eyes I can see flashes and colours behind my eyelids, like my own little fireworks show.

[00:00:46] I wonder if you know what I mean.

[00:00:50] Luckily tonight we won't have to make our own private fireworks show though, because this is a very special evening in sleepy forest again, and fireworks are going to be a big part of it.

[00:01:02] Before we begin, a quick message for the grown-ups. If you'd like to support our podcast, enjoy ad-free listening, unlock four bonus stories per month and much, much more, you can join Coco Club.

[00:04:16] Sweet dreams.

[00:04:17] Let's meet up now with our little koala friend Coco and hear how he and his family celebrate a very special occasion called Bonfire Night.

[00:04:33] Coco loves Bonfire Night and his favorite part is watching the fireworks as they zoom into the night sky and fill it with a beautiful array of colors.

[00:04:43] This is Coco Celebrates Bonfire Night by Gillian Rogerson.

[00:04:56] Deep in the heart of a faraway forest stood a cozy cabin.

[00:05:02] Inside the cabin lived a family of koalas.

[00:05:05] The youngest koala was called Coco.

[00:05:10] It was November the 5th in Sleepy Forest and when Coco, the little koala, woke up,

[00:05:17] he immediately broke into a huge smile and hugged himself in excitement.

[00:05:22] November the 5th was Bonfire Night and it was an occasion that was always celebrated in Sleepy Forest.

[00:05:31] Coco loved Bonfire Night.

[00:05:33] He loved being outside with his friends and family, eating delicious food, sipping hot drinks and gazing at the dancing flames of the big fire.

[00:05:45] Most of all, he loved watching the amazing display of fireworks and seeing the colors lighting up the sky.

[00:05:55] Even though the bonfire wouldn't be lit until later that day, there was a lot of preparation to do.

[00:06:01] So Coco jumped out of bed, pulled on his soft dressing gown over his pajamas and ran downstairs into the kitchen.

[00:06:11] His grandpa was already in the kitchen wearing an apron and standing in front of the large table.

[00:06:18] There was a variety of baking ingredients lined up on the table along with mixing bowls and saucepans.

[00:06:25] Coco said,

[00:06:28] Morning Grandpa, have you started baking already?

[00:06:32] Not yet, Grandpa replied.

[00:06:35] I was waiting for you, but before we do anything, I need my morning hug.

[00:06:43] Grandpa opened his arms wide and Coco ran into them and was wrapped in a warm embrace.

[00:06:51] After a few moments, Grandpa released Coco and said,

[00:06:56] We've got a lot of baking to do this morning and we'll need lots of energy.

[00:07:04] Let's have some breakfast before we start.

[00:07:07] How about some porridge? I've got some simmering on the stove.

[00:07:11] Sit yourself down, Coco, and I'll bring it over to you.

[00:07:16] Coco pulled himself onto a high seat at the table and watched his grandpa spoon the deliciously thick porridge into two waiting bowls.

[00:07:27] Grandpa put one in front of Coco and gave him a spoon.

[00:07:34] Grandpa asked Coco what he would like on his porridge.

[00:07:38] Blueberries, maple syrup, or a swirl of chocolate sauce.

[00:07:44] Coco gave his grandpa a little cheeky smile and asked if he could have a little bit of them all, please.

[00:07:53] His grandpa nodded and said,

[00:07:55] That sounded like a delicious combination and he would have the same on his porridge.

[00:08:02] Grandpa sat opposite Coco with his bowl of porridge.

[00:08:06] They put plenty of blueberries on top of the porridge

[00:08:09] and added equal swirls of maple syrup and chocolate sauce.

[00:08:15] It was a very delicious combination and the two koalas enjoyed every mouthful.

[00:08:23] Grandpa told Coco that his parents had gone out to visit friends

[00:08:27] and that his grandma was already in the forest collecting fallen logs for the bonfire.

[00:08:35] When their bowls were empty, Coco jumped down from the chair

[00:08:40] and took the bowls over to the washing-up bowl.

[00:08:43] He gave them a quick clean and then ran back to his grandpa.

[00:08:50] Grandpa took Coco's apron from a drawer and helped Coco to put it on.

[00:08:57] Coco washed his paws and told Grandpa he was ready to start making the bonfire night treats.

[00:09:03] Great!

[00:09:07] Let's begin, Grandpa said.

[00:09:11] We'll start with the bonfire toffee.

[00:09:14] I'll tell you what we need and how much.

[00:09:17] Can you get those ingredients ready for me, Coco?

[00:09:21] Coco said he would.

[00:09:23] Grandpa told Coco what was needed

[00:09:26] and the little koala measured out the various ingredients,

[00:09:31] including soft dark brown sugar,

[00:09:34] thick black treacle,

[00:09:36] and sticky golden syrup.

[00:09:39] Grandpa took the ingredients and put them in a pan on the stove.

[00:09:44] He put a chair next to the stove

[00:09:46] and helped Coco onto it

[00:09:48] so he could see what was happening inside the pot.

[00:09:52] Coco watched the ingredients swirl together to create a bubbling liquid.

[00:09:59] Grandpa used a thermometer to check the temperature

[00:10:02] and whilst they waited for the liquid to reach the perfect heat,

[00:10:08] they talked about what they would do later on.

[00:10:13] Coco said,

[00:10:14] Grandma said I could help her collect some logs.

[00:10:18] Do you think I'll be able to carry a log on my own this year, Grandpa?

[00:10:24] I couldn't last year, but I have grown a lot since then.

[00:10:30] Grandpa put his paw on Coco's arm,

[00:10:33] smiled and said,

[00:10:35] Hmm, your muscles are nearly as big as mine.

[00:10:40] You might be strong enough to carry a log on your own,

[00:10:44] but ask your grandma first before you pick one up.

[00:10:49] Coco said he would.

[00:10:51] He asked Grandpa what he would be doing later.

[00:10:55] Without any hesitation, Grandpa said,

[00:11:00] Hmm, I'll be having a nap in my rocking chair.

[00:11:04] You know how much I love my naps.

[00:11:08] I always feel rested after one,

[00:11:11] and I need lots of energy if I'm going to be dancing and singing later.

[00:11:19] Coco frowned and said,

[00:11:21] I didn't know there was going to be any singing and dancing.

[00:11:27] His grandpa grinned.

[00:11:29] There will be when I get there.

[00:11:32] I hope your grandma dances with me.

[00:11:36] Coco said,

[00:11:37] I'll dance with you, Grandpa.

[00:11:40] Grandpa.

[00:11:41] Grandpa kissed the top of Coco's head.

[00:11:44] They stood by the toffee mixture a little longer until it was ready.

[00:11:50] Then Grandpa carefully poured it into a metal tray

[00:11:54] and told Coco they would have to let it cool for an hour or so.

[00:11:59] They moved back to the kitchen table

[00:12:02] and started getting ready for the next treat they would make,

[00:12:07] a sticky-topped ginger cake called Parkin'.

[00:12:11] Some of the ingredients were similar to those used in the toffee

[00:12:16] and in no time at all,

[00:12:19] Coco had them measured out and at Grandpa's side.

[00:12:24] Grandpa expertly combined the ingredients in a bowl

[00:12:28] and put the mixture into a large baking tray

[00:12:32] and popped it into the oven.

[00:12:34] He told Coco

[00:12:36] it would take a while to cook

[00:12:38] and asked if Coco could help him with the washing up.

[00:12:43] Coco said yes

[00:12:44] and once the washing up was done,

[00:12:47] Coco asked if he could head out to the forest

[00:12:50] to help Grandma with the logs.

[00:12:53] Grandpa said,

[00:12:55] Of course,

[00:12:57] but you might want to get dressed first.

[00:13:00] You're still in your pajamas and dressing gown.

[00:13:04] Coco giggled and ran upstairs to get changed.

[00:13:08] He remembered to brush his teeth too.

[00:13:12] A few minutes later,

[00:13:14] the little koala came back downstairs

[00:13:17] and told Grandpa he was ready to go.

[00:13:22] Grandpa looked down at Coco,

[00:13:24] all snug and cosy in his warm coat,

[00:13:28] woolly hat, scarf and gloves.

[00:13:31] He told him to have a wonderful time collecting logs

[00:13:35] and that he would see him later.

[00:13:39] Coco said goodbye and raced out of the door.

[00:13:43] The autumn air was crisp and cool.

[00:13:47] Fallen leaves lined the path

[00:13:50] that led into the forest

[00:13:51] and as Coco walked over them,

[00:13:54] they crackled beneath his boots.

[00:13:57] Some of the last leaves on the trees

[00:14:00] became free

[00:14:01] and fluttered and flitted down to the ground.

[00:14:07] Coco looked up at the clear sky

[00:14:09] and hoped it would stay like that

[00:14:12] all day and night.

[00:14:14] He skipped through the forest

[00:14:17] and over to the large clearing

[00:14:19] where the bonfire celebrations

[00:14:21] would take place later.

[00:14:24] There was a pile of logs

[00:14:26] right in the middle of it,

[00:14:28] arranged in the shape of a pyramid.

[00:14:31] Some of his friends' parents

[00:14:33] and grandparents

[00:14:34] were adding more logs to the pile.

[00:14:37] They waved to Coco

[00:14:39] Coco and said hello.

[00:14:42] Coco's grandma walked into the clearing

[00:14:45] carrying a log.

[00:14:47] She was wrapped up warmly

[00:14:49] in her cozy coat, hat and scarf.

[00:14:52] She smiled over at Coco

[00:14:54] and he ran to her.

[00:14:57] Grandma put her log with the others

[00:14:59] and then gave Coco a hug.

[00:15:02] She smiled and said,

[00:15:06] Mmm, you smell

[00:15:07] of bonfire toffee and parking.

[00:15:10] Have you had a good time

[00:15:12] with grandpa in the kitchen?

[00:15:15] Coco said he had

[00:15:17] and could he still collect logs with her

[00:15:19] or had she finished?

[00:15:21] I haven't finished yet,

[00:15:24] she said.

[00:15:25] We need plenty more for the fire.

[00:15:30] She took Coco's paw

[00:15:32] and they headed back into the forest

[00:15:34] keeping a lookout

[00:15:35] for fallen logs.

[00:15:39] Coco asked grandma

[00:15:40] if she thought it would rain that night.

[00:15:44] He said he hoped it wouldn't.

[00:15:47] Grandma said firmly,

[00:15:49] It won't rain.

[00:15:51] You can trust me on that.

[00:15:54] Coco said he did trust her.

[00:15:57] They came across

[00:15:59] a small pile of branches

[00:16:01] that had been blown loose

[00:16:03] from the trees

[00:16:03] in recent high winds.

[00:16:06] Coco asked grandma

[00:16:08] if they could be used

[00:16:09] on the bonfire.

[00:16:11] She said yes

[00:16:13] and the two of them collected

[00:16:14] as much as they could safely carry.

[00:16:19] Coco said proudly,

[00:16:21] Grandma,

[00:16:22] look how many branches

[00:16:24] I can carry.

[00:16:25] I must have grown a lot

[00:16:28] this year.

[00:16:29] Grandpa said,

[00:16:31] My arm muscles

[00:16:32] were nearly as big

[00:16:34] as his now.

[00:16:36] Grandma smiled down

[00:16:38] at her grandson

[00:16:39] and said,

[00:16:41] Yes,

[00:16:42] he definitely had

[00:16:43] grown a lot that year.

[00:16:45] They reached the clearing

[00:16:47] and added the branches

[00:16:49] to the pile of logs.

[00:16:52] Grandma and Coco

[00:16:53] made a few more journeys

[00:16:55] into the forest

[00:16:57] to gather more logs

[00:16:59] and branches.

[00:17:01] The morning sped by

[00:17:03] and it was soon

[00:17:05] time for lunch.

[00:17:07] Grandma had a word

[00:17:09] with the other grown-ups

[00:17:10] and,

[00:17:11] after a discussion,

[00:17:13] they decided

[00:17:14] that the pyramid of logs

[00:17:15] was now big enough.

[00:17:18] Grandma said goodbye

[00:17:20] to everyone

[00:17:21] and told them

[00:17:22] she would see them later.

[00:17:25] She held pause

[00:17:26] with Coco

[00:17:27] and they walked home.

[00:17:30] Coco kept looking

[00:17:32] at the sky,

[00:17:33] wishing for it

[00:17:35] to grow darker

[00:17:35] so the celebrations

[00:17:37] could begin.

[00:17:39] Grandma noticed

[00:17:40] what he was doing

[00:17:42] and said

[00:17:43] it would be dark

[00:17:44] soon enough.

[00:17:46] They reached

[00:17:47] their cozy cabin

[00:17:48] and went inside.

[00:17:50] The air was scented

[00:17:52] with ginger cake

[00:17:53] and toffee.

[00:17:55] Grandpa walked

[00:17:57] out of the kitchen

[00:17:58] holding a plate

[00:17:59] of freshly cooked

[00:18:01] parking

[00:18:01] and said,

[00:18:04] I had a feeling

[00:18:05] you two would be

[00:18:06] home for lunch.

[00:18:08] Would you like

[00:18:09] some parking?

[00:18:11] Grandma and Coco

[00:18:12] took off their coats

[00:18:14] and boots

[00:18:15] in record time

[00:18:16] and settled down

[00:18:18] in front of the fire

[00:18:19] with slices

[00:18:20] of the sticky

[00:18:22] ginger cake

[00:18:22] in their paws.

[00:18:24] It was scrumptious.

[00:18:28] Not long later,

[00:18:31] Coco's mom

[00:18:32] and dad

[00:18:33] came home

[00:18:34] and said

[00:18:34] they had walked

[00:18:35] through the forest

[00:18:36] and seen

[00:18:37] the pile of logs

[00:18:39] in the clearing.

[00:18:40] They were impressed

[00:18:42] with how big it was.

[00:18:44] Coco asked

[00:18:46] if it was time

[00:18:47] to go to the bonfire

[00:18:48] yet.

[00:18:49] Not quite yet,

[00:18:51] his mom said.

[00:18:53] Why don't you draw

[00:18:54] some pictures

[00:18:55] of bonfire night

[00:18:56] to keep yourself

[00:18:57] busy

[00:18:58] until it's time

[00:18:59] to go?

[00:19:01] Coco thought

[00:19:03] that was

[00:19:03] an excellent idea.

[00:19:06] He collected

[00:19:07] his paper

[00:19:08] and crayons

[00:19:09] and sat down

[00:19:10] at his little

[00:19:11] craft table.

[00:19:12] He drew

[00:19:14] a huge fire

[00:19:15] with flickering

[00:19:17] orange

[00:19:17] and red flames.

[00:19:19] He drew

[00:19:20] his friends

[00:19:21] standing

[00:19:22] around the fire

[00:19:23] including

[00:19:24] Camo,

[00:19:25] the chameleon,

[00:19:27] Fudge,

[00:19:27] the sloth,

[00:19:29] Prickles,

[00:19:30] the hedgehog

[00:19:31] and Adrenaline,

[00:19:32] the tortoise.

[00:19:33] Then

[00:19:34] he drew

[00:19:35] his parents

[00:19:36] and grandparents

[00:19:37] next to them all

[00:19:38] all wrapped up

[00:19:40] warm in their

[00:19:41] coats and hats.

[00:19:44] Coco had left

[00:19:45] space at the top

[00:19:47] of the paper

[00:19:47] for fireworks.

[00:19:49] He tipped

[00:19:50] the crayons

[00:19:51] onto the table

[00:19:52] and used

[00:19:53] every single

[00:19:54] one of them

[00:19:55] to create

[00:19:56] a magnificent

[00:19:57] display

[00:19:58] of fireworks

[00:20:00] whizzing

[00:20:01] and zipping

[00:20:02] through the night sky.

[00:20:04] He found

[00:20:05] some empty

[00:20:05] space

[00:20:06] on the paper

[00:20:07] and drew

[00:20:08] twinkling

[00:20:09] stars

[00:20:10] and a big

[00:20:11] full moon.

[00:20:14] He felt

[00:20:15] a light

[00:20:16] tap

[00:20:16] on his

[00:20:17] shoulder.

[00:20:18] It was

[00:20:19] his mum.

[00:20:20] She looked

[00:20:21] at his picture

[00:20:22] and said

[00:20:23] it was amazing

[00:20:24] and the

[00:20:25] fireworks

[00:20:25] looked like

[00:20:26] beautiful flowers

[00:20:28] blossoming

[00:20:29] in the sky.

[00:20:31] She asked

[00:20:32] if she could

[00:20:33] pin it

[00:20:33] on the front

[00:20:34] door

[00:20:34] so that

[00:20:35] any passers-by

[00:20:36] could see it

[00:20:37] and admire it.

[00:20:39] Coco blushed

[00:20:41] a little

[00:20:41] and said

[00:20:43] he would like

[00:20:43] that.

[00:20:45] Mum

[00:20:45] proudly

[00:20:46] pinned the picture

[00:20:47] on the front

[00:20:48] door

[00:20:49] and then

[00:20:50] to Coco's

[00:20:51] delight

[00:20:52] said it

[00:20:53] was time

[00:20:53] to go.

[00:20:56] The koala

[00:20:57] family

[00:20:58] wrapped up

[00:20:59] warmly

[00:20:59] and set

[00:21:00] off

[00:21:01] through

[00:21:01] sleepy

[00:21:02] forest

[00:21:02] and towards

[00:21:03] the

[00:21:03] celebration

[00:21:04] area.

[00:21:06] The sky

[00:21:07] turned

[00:21:08] darker

[00:21:08] and the

[00:21:10] sprinkling

[00:21:10] of stars

[00:21:11] glimmered

[00:21:13] and glittered

[00:21:14] in the

[00:21:14] velvety sky.

[00:21:17] Coco

[00:21:18] wanted to

[00:21:19] skip along

[00:21:19] the path

[00:21:20] but he'd

[00:21:21] been given

[00:21:22] the very

[00:21:22] important job

[00:21:23] of carrying

[00:21:24] the bonfire

[00:21:25] toffee.

[00:21:27] Before

[00:21:28] they had

[00:21:28] set off

[00:21:29] grandpa

[00:21:30] had broken

[00:21:31] up

[00:21:31] the

[00:21:31] cooled

[00:21:32] toffee

[00:21:32] with a

[00:21:33] special

[00:21:33] toffee

[00:21:34] hammer

[00:21:34] and Coco

[00:21:36] had helped

[00:21:36] him place

[00:21:37] the pieces

[00:21:38] into a

[00:21:39] large

[00:21:39] tub.

[00:21:41] As Coco

[00:21:42] walked

[00:21:43] slowly

[00:21:43] along

[00:21:44] the forest

[00:21:44] path

[00:21:45] with a

[00:21:46] tub

[00:21:46] in his

[00:21:47] paws

[00:21:47] he felt

[00:21:49] like he

[00:21:49] was carrying

[00:21:50] the most

[00:21:51] precious

[00:21:51] item

[00:21:52] in the

[00:21:53] world.

[00:21:55] A little

[00:21:56] later

[00:21:56] the

[00:21:58] koalas

[00:21:58] arrived

[00:21:59] at the

[00:21:59] clearing.

[00:22:01] The

[00:22:02] animals

[00:22:02] of

[00:22:02] sleepy

[00:22:03] forest

[00:22:03] were

[00:22:04] all

[00:22:04] there

[00:22:05] including

[00:22:06] Coco's

[00:22:07] friends.

[00:22:08] Tables

[00:22:09] and chairs

[00:22:10] had been

[00:22:11] set up

[00:22:11] at a

[00:22:12] safe

[00:22:12] distance

[00:22:13] from the

[00:22:13] fire

[00:22:13] and

[00:22:14] fairy

[00:22:15] lights

[00:22:15] were

[00:22:16] festooned

[00:22:17] between

[00:22:17] the

[00:22:18] branches

[00:22:18] of

[00:22:18] trees.

[00:22:21] Coco

[00:22:21] carefully

[00:22:22] placed

[00:22:23] the

[00:22:23] tub

[00:22:23] of

[00:22:23] toffee

[00:22:24] on

[00:22:24] the

[00:22:24] food

[00:22:25] table.

[00:22:26] Grandpa

[00:22:27] reached

[00:22:27] for it

[00:22:28] and took

[00:22:29] the lid

[00:22:29] off.

[00:22:30] The

[00:22:31] pieces

[00:22:31] of

[00:22:31] golden

[00:22:32] toffee

[00:22:33] lay

[00:22:33] inside

[00:22:34] like

[00:22:35] valuable

[00:22:35] jewels.

[00:22:37] Grandpa

[00:22:38] held out

[00:22:39] the tub

[00:22:40] to Coco

[00:22:40] and said

[00:22:42] I'd

[00:22:43] like

[00:22:43] you

[00:22:43] to have

[00:22:44] the

[00:22:44] first

[00:22:45] piece

[00:22:45] Coco

[00:22:45] and

[00:22:47] then

[00:22:47] could

[00:22:47] you

[00:22:47] offer

[00:22:48] some

[00:22:48] to

[00:22:48] your

[00:22:48] friends

[00:22:49] please?

[00:22:52] Coco

[00:22:53] picked

[00:22:53] up

[00:22:54] a

[00:22:54] piece

[00:22:54] of

[00:22:54] the

[00:22:55] toffee

[00:22:55] and

[00:22:56] put

[00:22:56] it

[00:22:56] in

[00:22:56] his

[00:22:56] mouth.

[00:22:59] It

[00:23:00] tasted

[00:23:00] of

[00:23:01] treacle

[00:23:02] and

[00:23:03] syrup

[00:23:03] and

[00:23:04] soft

[00:23:06] sugar

[00:23:06] and

[00:23:08] magical

[00:23:08] bonfire

[00:23:09] nights

[00:23:10] with

[00:23:10] his

[00:23:11] friends

[00:23:11] and

[00:23:11] family.

[00:23:13] Coco

[00:23:14] took

[00:23:14] the

[00:23:14] tub

[00:23:15] and

[00:23:15] walked

[00:23:16] towards

[00:23:16] his

[00:23:17] friends.

[00:23:18] His

[00:23:19] friends

[00:23:19] loved

[00:23:20] the

[00:23:20] toffee

[00:23:20] as

[00:23:21] much

[00:23:21] as

[00:23:21] Coco

[00:23:21] did

[00:23:22] and

[00:23:23] said

[00:23:23] it

[00:23:23] was

[00:23:23] the

[00:23:23] best

[00:23:24] they

[00:23:24] had

[00:23:25] ever

[00:23:25] tasted.

[00:23:27] Coco's

[00:23:28] grandpa

[00:23:29] came

[00:23:30] over

[00:23:30] and

[00:23:31] asked

[00:23:31] if

[00:23:31] they

[00:23:31] would

[00:23:32] like

[00:23:32] some

[00:23:32] hot

[00:23:33] pumpkin

[00:23:33] soup

[00:23:34] or

[00:23:35] some

[00:23:35] warm

[00:23:36] vegetable

[00:23:37] pie

[00:23:37] and

[00:23:37] mushy

[00:23:38] peas.

[00:23:40] Seeing

[00:23:41] the cheeky

[00:23:41] smiles

[00:23:42] on their

[00:23:42] little

[00:23:43] faces,

[00:23:44] grandpa

[00:23:44] smiled

[00:23:45] and said

[00:23:46] they

[00:23:46] could have

[00:23:47] both

[00:23:47] if they

[00:23:48] wanted.

[00:23:49] He

[00:23:50] took

[00:23:50] them

[00:23:50] over

[00:23:51] to the

[00:23:51] table

[00:23:52] where

[00:23:52] hot

[00:23:53] food

[00:23:53] was

[00:23:54] being

[00:23:54] served

[00:23:55] and

[00:23:55] stood

[00:23:56] by

[00:23:56] their

[00:23:56] side

[00:23:57] as

[00:23:57] they

[00:23:57] collected

[00:23:58] portions

[00:23:59] of

[00:23:59] the

[00:23:59] soup

[00:24:00] and

[00:24:00] the

[00:24:00] pie.

[00:24:03] Coco

[00:24:03] and

[00:24:04] his

[00:24:04] friends

[00:24:04] sat

[00:24:05] together

[00:24:06] at a

[00:24:06] table

[00:24:07] and

[00:24:08] thoroughly

[00:24:09] enjoyed

[00:24:09] their

[00:24:10] bonfire

[00:24:11] night

[00:24:11] food.

[00:24:15] Coco

[00:24:15] looked

[00:24:16] at

[00:24:16] Camo

[00:24:17] the

[00:24:17] chameleon

[00:24:18] and

[00:24:18] said,

[00:24:19] your

[00:24:20] skin

[00:24:20] is

[00:24:21] the

[00:24:22] same

[00:24:22] color

[00:24:22] as

[00:24:23] the

[00:24:23] sky.

[00:24:24] I

[00:24:25] can

[00:24:25] see

[00:24:26] the

[00:24:26] stars

[00:24:26] and

[00:24:27] the

[00:24:27] moon

[00:24:28] in

[00:24:28] it.

[00:24:29] Is

[00:24:29] it

[00:24:30] easy

[00:24:30] to

[00:24:30] change

[00:24:31] your

[00:24:31] colors?

[00:24:33] Camo

[00:24:34] nodded

[00:24:34] and said

[00:24:35] he just

[00:24:36] had to

[00:24:37] think

[00:24:37] about

[00:24:37] colors

[00:24:38] and

[00:24:39] then

[00:24:39] his

[00:24:40] skin

[00:24:40] changed.

[00:24:42] Coco

[00:24:43] asked,

[00:24:44] can

[00:24:45] you

[00:24:45] change

[00:24:46] into

[00:24:46] the

[00:24:46] color

[00:24:47] of

[00:24:47] fireworks?

[00:24:49] Oh,

[00:24:50] I don't

[00:24:51] know,

[00:24:52] Camo

[00:24:53] replied.

[00:24:54] I've

[00:24:55] never

[00:24:55] tried

[00:24:55] it

[00:24:55] before,

[00:24:56] but

[00:24:57] I'll

[00:24:57] give

[00:24:58] it

[00:24:58] a

[00:24:58] go

[00:24:58] later.

[00:25:00] The

[00:25:01] friends

[00:25:02] finished

[00:25:03] their

[00:25:03] food

[00:25:03] and

[00:25:04] then

[00:25:05] turned

[00:25:05] around

[00:25:05] to

[00:25:06] look

[00:25:06] at

[00:25:06] the

[00:25:06] huge

[00:25:07] pile

[00:25:07] of

[00:25:08] logs

[00:25:08] and

[00:25:08] branches.

[00:25:11] Coco's

[00:25:12] grandma

[00:25:12] and

[00:25:13] some

[00:25:13] of the

[00:25:14] other

[00:25:14] grown-ups

[00:25:15] were

[00:25:15] spaced

[00:25:16] around

[00:25:16] the

[00:25:17] bottom

[00:25:17] of

[00:25:17] the

[00:25:18] logs

[00:25:18] with

[00:25:19] lit

[00:25:19] candles

[00:25:20] in

[00:25:20] their

[00:25:20] gloved

[00:25:21] paws.

[00:25:23] With

[00:25:23] great

[00:25:23] care,

[00:25:24] they

[00:25:25] put

[00:25:25] the

[00:25:25] candles

[00:25:26] inside

[00:25:26] gaps

[00:25:27] between

[00:25:28] the

[00:25:28] logs

[00:25:28] and

[00:25:29] then

[00:25:30] took

[00:25:30] several

[00:25:31] steps

[00:25:32] back.

[00:25:33] The

[00:25:34] tiny

[00:25:34] flames

[00:25:35] from

[00:25:36] the

[00:25:36] candles

[00:25:36] began

[00:25:37] to

[00:25:38] spread

[00:25:38] through

[00:25:39] the

[00:25:39] logs

[00:25:40] and

[00:25:40] branches.

[00:25:42] The

[00:25:42] flames

[00:25:43] quickly

[00:25:44] grew

[00:25:45] and

[00:25:45] grew,

[00:25:46] a

[00:25:49] silence

[00:25:49] fell

[00:25:50] over

[00:25:50] the

[00:25:51] animals

[00:25:51] as

[00:25:52] they

[00:25:52] watched

[00:25:53] the

[00:25:53] fire

[00:25:53] grow

[00:25:54] bigger.

[00:25:56] Orange

[00:25:57] and

[00:25:57] red

[00:25:57] flames

[00:25:58] danced

[00:25:59] and

[00:26:00] flickered

[00:26:00] over

[00:26:01] the

[00:26:01] wood.

[00:26:02] The

[00:26:03] sound

[00:26:04] of

[00:26:04] crackling

[00:26:05] and

[00:26:05] light

[00:26:06] popping

[00:26:06] came

[00:26:07] from

[00:26:07] within

[00:26:07] the

[00:26:08] pile

[00:26:08] and

[00:26:09] the

[00:26:09] smoky

[00:26:10] scent

[00:26:11] of

[00:26:11] burning

[00:26:11] wood

[00:26:12] perfumed

[00:26:14] the

[00:26:14] air.

[00:26:16] Coco

[00:26:17] and

[00:26:17] his

[00:26:17] friends

[00:26:18] gazed

[00:26:19] at

[00:26:20] the

[00:26:20] fire,

[00:26:21] their

[00:26:21] little

[00:26:22] faces

[00:26:22] feeling

[00:26:24] the

[00:26:24] gentle

[00:26:25] warmth

[00:26:25] of

[00:26:26] it.

[00:26:28] The

[00:26:29] talking

[00:26:29] began

[00:26:30] again

[00:26:31] and

[00:26:32] Coco's

[00:26:32] grandpa

[00:26:33] came

[00:26:34] over

[00:26:34] to

[00:26:34] the

[00:26:34] table

[00:26:35] and

[00:26:36] asked

[00:26:36] the

[00:26:37] young

[00:26:37] animals

[00:26:37] if

[00:26:38] they

[00:26:38] would

[00:26:38] like

[00:26:39] anything

[00:26:39] else

[00:26:39] to

[00:26:40] eat.

[00:26:41] Perhaps

[00:26:42] some

[00:26:42] baked

[00:26:43] jacket

[00:26:43] potatoes

[00:26:44] with

[00:26:45] melted

[00:26:45] butter.

[00:26:48] Coco

[00:26:48] and

[00:26:49] his

[00:26:49] friends

[00:26:50] had

[00:26:50] full

[00:26:51] tummies

[00:26:51] and

[00:26:52] said

[00:26:52] no

[00:26:53] thank

[00:26:53] you.

[00:26:57] Grandpa

[00:26:57] said

[00:26:58] okay

[00:27:00] there

[00:27:01] are

[00:27:01] plenty

[00:27:02] of

[00:27:02] potatoes

[00:27:03] so

[00:27:03] if

[00:27:04] you

[00:27:04] get

[00:27:04] hungry

[00:27:05] later

[00:27:05] you

[00:27:06] can

[00:27:13] and

[00:27:13] talked

[00:27:14] about

[00:27:14] the

[00:27:14] fireworks

[00:27:15] that

[00:27:15] would

[00:27:15] be

[00:27:16] starting

[00:27:16] soon.

[00:27:18] Coco

[00:27:19] hoped

[00:27:20] they

[00:27:20] wouldn't

[00:27:20] have

[00:27:20] to

[00:27:21] wait

[00:27:21] much

[00:27:22] longer.

[00:27:23] He

[00:27:24] gazed

[00:27:24] at

[00:27:24] the

[00:27:24] starlit

[00:27:25] sky.

[00:27:26] There

[00:27:27] wasn't

[00:27:27] a

[00:27:27] cloud

[00:27:28] in

[00:27:28] sight.

[00:27:29] Grandma

[00:27:30] had

[00:27:31] been

[00:27:31] right

[00:27:31] about

[00:27:32] the

[00:27:32] weather.

[00:27:33] She

[00:27:34] always

[00:27:34] was.

[00:27:36] Camo's

[00:27:37] dad

[00:27:37] came

[00:27:38] over

[00:27:38] to

[00:27:38] the

[00:27:38] group

[00:27:39] and

[00:27:39] said

[00:27:40] it

[00:27:40] was

[00:27:40] time

[00:27:40] to

[00:27:41] watch

[00:27:42] the

[00:27:42] fireworks.

[00:27:43] He

[00:27:44] gathered

[00:27:44] the

[00:27:45] youngsters

[00:27:45] together

[00:27:46] and

[00:27:46] led

[00:27:47] them

[00:27:47] over

[00:27:48] to

[00:27:48] another

[00:27:48] area

[00:27:49] where

[00:27:49] a

[00:27:50] group

[00:27:50] of

[00:27:50] grown-ups

[00:27:51] were

[00:27:51] busy

[00:27:52] putting

[00:27:52] the

[00:27:52] fireworks

[00:27:53] in

[00:27:54] place.

[00:27:58] There

[00:27:58] was

[00:27:58] a

[00:27:59] line

[00:27:59] of

[00:27:59] stones

[00:28:00] on

[00:28:00] the

[00:28:00] ground

[00:28:01] and

[00:28:01] Camo's

[00:28:02] dad

[00:28:02] said

[00:28:03] the

[00:28:03] young

[00:28:04] animals

[00:28:04] were

[00:28:05] not

[00:28:05] allowed

[00:28:05] to

[00:28:05] cross

[00:28:06] it

[00:28:06] and

[00:28:07] could

[00:28:07] watch

[00:28:08] the

[00:28:08] fireworks

[00:28:09] from

[00:28:09] right

[00:28:10] where

[00:28:10] they

[00:28:10] were.

[00:28:12] Coco

[00:28:13] and

[00:28:13] his

[00:28:13] friends

[00:28:14] nodded

[00:28:15] solemnly.

[00:28:16] Some of

[00:28:18] the

[00:28:18] other

[00:28:18] parents

[00:28:19] and

[00:28:19] grandparents

[00:28:20] joined

[00:28:21] the

[00:28:21] gathering

[00:28:21] behind

[00:28:22] them.

[00:28:24] Everyone

[00:28:24] waited

[00:28:25] patiently

[00:28:26] and

[00:28:27] then

[00:28:27] the

[00:28:29] magic

[00:28:29] began.

[00:28:32] With a

[00:28:32] whoosh

[00:28:33] the

[00:28:34] first

[00:28:34] fireworks

[00:28:35] shot up

[00:28:36] into the

[00:28:37] dark

[00:28:37] sky.

[00:28:38] Up

[00:28:39] and up

[00:28:40] it went

[00:28:41] higher

[00:28:42] and

[00:28:43] higher

[00:28:44] and

[00:28:45] just

[00:28:45] when

[00:28:46] everyone

[00:28:46] thought

[00:28:47] it

[00:28:47] had

[00:28:47] disappeared

[00:28:48] there

[00:28:49] was

[00:28:49] a

[00:28:49] burst

[00:28:49] of

[00:28:50] vibrant

[00:28:50] red

[00:28:51] orange

[00:28:52] and

[00:28:53] green

[00:28:53] stars.

[00:28:55] The

[00:28:56] stars

[00:28:56] twinkled

[00:28:57] and

[00:28:57] shimmered

[00:28:58] and lit

[00:28:59] up

[00:29:00] the sky.

[00:29:01] Another

[00:29:02] burst

[00:29:03] of

[00:29:03] colour

[00:29:03] followed

[00:29:04] it

[00:29:04] and

[00:29:05] then

[00:29:05] another

[00:29:06] and

[00:29:07] another

[00:29:07] until

[00:29:08] the sky

[00:29:09] was full

[00:29:10] of

[00:29:11] beautiful

[00:29:11] firework

[00:29:12] stars.

[00:29:14] More

[00:29:15] fireworks

[00:29:16] followed

[00:29:17] whooshing

[00:29:18] and zooming

[00:29:20] into the

[00:29:20] sky.

[00:29:22] Fireworks

[00:29:23] in blue

[00:29:24] purple

[00:29:25] red

[00:29:26] yellow

[00:29:28] green

[00:29:29] gold

[00:29:31] and silver

[00:29:32] filled

[00:29:33] the sky.

[00:29:36] The

[00:29:36] watching

[00:29:37] animals

[00:29:38] ooed

[00:29:39] and

[00:29:40] aahed

[00:29:42] with

[00:29:42] every

[00:29:43] firework

[00:29:44] they saw.

[00:29:46] Coco

[00:29:46] looked

[00:29:47] over

[00:29:47] at

[00:29:48] Camo

[00:29:48] and

[00:29:49] his

[00:29:49] eyes

[00:29:50] grew

[00:29:50] wide

[00:29:51] in

[00:29:51] astonishment.

[00:29:53] Camo

[00:29:55] he

[00:29:55] said.

[00:29:57] Your

[00:29:57] skin

[00:29:58] it's

[00:30:00] beautiful.

[00:30:02] Camo's

[00:30:03] body

[00:30:03] was a

[00:30:04] resplendent

[00:30:05] reflection

[00:30:06] of the

[00:30:07] firework

[00:30:08] stars

[00:30:08] that

[00:30:09] were

[00:30:10] blooming

[00:30:10] in the

[00:30:11] dark

[00:30:11] sky.

[00:30:14] Coco's

[00:30:14] friends

[00:30:15] looked at

[00:30:16] Camo

[00:30:16] and stared

[00:30:18] in awe

[00:30:19] at his

[00:30:20] changing

[00:30:20] colours.

[00:30:22] They

[00:30:22] said

[00:30:23] he

[00:30:24] was

[00:30:25] amazing.

[00:30:26] Camo

[00:30:27] smiled

[00:30:28] shyly

[00:30:29] and quietly

[00:30:30] said

[00:30:31] thank you.

[00:30:33] The

[00:30:33] firework

[00:30:34] show

[00:30:35] continued

[00:30:36] for a

[00:30:37] while

[00:30:37] longer.

[00:30:39] Coco's

[00:30:40] eyes

[00:30:41] started

[00:30:42] to grow

[00:30:42] heavy.

[00:30:44] He put

[00:30:45] his

[00:30:45] paw

[00:30:45] over his

[00:30:46] mouth

[00:30:47] to cover

[00:30:47] up a

[00:30:48] yawn.

[00:30:49] His

[00:30:50] friends

[00:30:50] did the

[00:30:51] same.

[00:30:53] The

[00:30:53] last

[00:30:54] firework

[00:30:54] to zoom

[00:30:55] into the

[00:30:56] sky

[00:30:57] was the

[00:30:58] biggest

[00:30:59] and most

[00:31:00] colourful

[00:31:01] of all.

[00:31:03] Clouds

[00:31:04] of

[00:31:04] sparkling

[00:31:05] stars

[00:31:05] completely

[00:31:06] filled

[00:31:07] the sky

[00:31:08] lighting

[00:31:09] up the

[00:31:10] faces

[00:31:10] of all

[00:31:11] those

[00:31:12] who were

[00:31:12] watching.

[00:31:14] The

[00:31:15] multicoloured

[00:31:15] stars

[00:31:16] twinkled

[00:31:17] and sparkled

[00:31:18] glimmered

[00:31:20] and shimmered.

[00:31:22] Then

[00:31:22] the

[00:31:23] fireworks

[00:31:24] sparkles

[00:31:25] slowly

[00:31:26] melted

[00:31:27] away

[00:31:27] and the

[00:31:28] real

[00:31:29] stars

[00:31:29] came back

[00:31:30] into view.

[00:31:32] The

[00:31:33] animals

[00:31:33] of

[00:31:33] sleepy

[00:31:34] forest

[00:31:34] gave

[00:31:35] the

[00:31:36] organisers

[00:31:37] of the

[00:31:37] firework

[00:31:38] show

[00:31:38] a well

[00:31:39] deserved

[00:31:40] round

[00:31:41] of applause.

[00:31:43] It was

[00:31:44] time

[00:31:44] for some

[00:31:45] gentle

[00:31:46] music

[00:31:46] and soothing

[00:31:48] songs.

[00:31:50] Coco's

[00:31:51] grandpa

[00:31:52] was the

[00:31:53] first

[00:31:53] one to

[00:31:54] dance

[00:31:55] to the

[00:31:55] music.

[00:31:57] Coco kept

[00:31:58] his promise

[00:31:58] and danced

[00:32:00] with his

[00:32:01] grandpa.

[00:32:02] But the

[00:32:03] little

[00:32:03] koala

[00:32:04] couldn't

[00:32:05] stop

[00:32:06] yawning.

[00:32:08] His

[00:32:08] grandpa

[00:32:09] noticed

[00:32:09] and said

[00:32:11] it was

[00:32:11] time

[00:32:12] they

[00:32:12] headed

[00:32:13] home.

[00:32:14] He

[00:32:14] picked

[00:32:15] up

[00:32:15] his

[00:32:16] tired

[00:32:16] grandson

[00:32:17] and

[00:32:18] pulled

[00:32:18] him

[00:32:18] close.

[00:32:20] Coco

[00:32:21] rested

[00:32:22] his

[00:32:22] head

[00:32:23] against

[00:32:23] his

[00:32:24] grandpa's

[00:32:25] chest.

[00:32:27] Coco

[00:32:27] noticed

[00:32:28] his

[00:32:29] friends

[00:32:29] were

[00:32:29] going

[00:32:30] home

[00:32:30] too.

[00:32:32] He

[00:32:33] waved

[00:32:33] goodbye

[00:32:34] and gave

[00:32:35] them

[00:32:36] tired

[00:32:37] smiles.

[00:32:40] Coco

[00:32:40] and his

[00:32:41] family

[00:32:42] said

[00:32:43] their

[00:32:43] goodbyes

[00:32:44] to the

[00:32:45] other

[00:32:45] animals,

[00:32:46] took

[00:32:47] one

[00:32:48] last

[00:32:49] look

[00:32:49] at the

[00:32:50] flickering

[00:32:50] fire

[00:32:51] and

[00:32:52] then

[00:32:53] set

[00:32:54] off

[00:32:54] through

[00:32:55] sleepy

[00:32:56] forest

[00:32:56] back

[00:32:57] to

[00:32:58] their

[00:32:59] cozy

[00:32:59] cabin.

[00:33:02] Coco

[00:33:02] felt

[00:33:03] warm

[00:33:04] and

[00:33:04] snug

[00:33:04] in

[00:33:05] his

[00:33:05] grandpa's

[00:33:06] arms.

[00:33:07] His

[00:33:08] heavy

[00:33:08] eyes

[00:33:09] started

[00:33:10] to

[00:33:11] close.

[00:33:13] By

[00:33:13] the

[00:33:14] time

[00:33:14] the

[00:33:14] koala

[00:33:15] family

[00:33:16] got

[00:33:16] home,

[00:33:18] Coco

[00:33:18] was

[00:33:20] fast

[00:33:20] asleep

[00:33:21] and

[00:33:23] dreaming

[00:33:23] about

[00:33:24] the

[00:33:24] beautiful

[00:33:25] firework

[00:33:26] stars

[00:33:27] in

[00:33:28] the

[00:33:28] sky.
