Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to koh La Moon, a podcast

00:00:14

Speaker 1: of original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make

00:00:19

Speaker 1: bedtime dream as has become usual. I want to start

00:00:24

Speaker 1: by giving a massive thanks to our newest subscribers. The

00:00:27

Speaker 1: heroes who've joined today are Ella and Charlotte, Sam and Wyatt,

00:00:33

Speaker 1: Harry Ingrid and Emmett Emma from New Zealand, Lucy from Florida,

00:00:39

Speaker 1: Vasudev from California, and Toby Flynn from Ireland. Thank you,

00:00:44

Speaker 1: international gang. Welcome to the Cocoa Club, and I hope

00:00:47

Speaker 1: you enjoy listening and sleeping to all the extra stories

00:00:51

Speaker 1: you now have at your fingertips. And for the rest

00:00:53

Speaker 1: of you, remember that if you subscribe for a year

00:00:57

Speaker 1: the annual membership, which is also the best deal overall,

00:01:00

Speaker 1: you can ask to have your name mentioned too. We

00:01:03

Speaker 1: couldn't continue to write all the stories, read and produce

00:01:07

Speaker 1: them so well if it weren't for you, lovely lot

00:01:09

Speaker 1: signing up to the Cocoa Club, so singling you out

00:01:12

Speaker 1: for a special thanks is the least we can do.

00:01:15

Speaker 1: Cocoa would give you all a high five if he could,

00:01:17

Speaker 1: but he says he doesn't have that many hands. Now, then,

00:01:21

Speaker 1: back to tonight's heartwarming tale. Alicia has written us a

00:01:25

Speaker 1: sweet story based in Texas in the US, and soon

00:01:29

Speaker 1: we're going to journey over to a ranch. There in

00:01:33

Speaker 1: the fields surrounding the ranch live a group of horses,

00:01:36

Speaker 1: and together they go exploring the wilderness and gradually hone

00:01:40

Speaker 1: their already impressive skills. Get snugly in bed, and imagine

00:01:45

Speaker 1: a big blue sky above you. A huge, wide landscape

00:01:50

Speaker 1: of golden and green fields with fences cutting through here

00:01:55

Speaker 1: and there extends ahead of you. You can hear the

00:01:58

Speaker 1: soft swishing of horses, tails and birds on let out

00:02:04

Speaker 1: a lovely deep breath, and another one. That's right now,

00:02:14

Speaker 1: it's time to head down to the ranch together. This

00:02:19

Speaker 1: is the Horses of Sweet Pine Ranch by Alicia Ainslie.

00:02:31

Speaker 1: Every morning was the same on Sweet Pine Ranch. Through

00:02:35

Speaker 1: the night, there wasn't a sound to be heard, aside

00:02:39

Speaker 1: from the dust blowing with the breeze and the occasional

00:02:42

Speaker 1: call of a bobcat. But as the sun crept over

00:02:46

Speaker 1: the horizon each morning, illuminating the vast grassy landscape, the

00:02:52

Speaker 1: ranch came to life, signaled by the familiar sound of

00:02:56

Speaker 1: a rooster cockadoole. The rooster would cry out, and the

00:03:03

Speaker 1: horses on the ranch would begin to stir in their

00:03:05

Speaker 1: hay field beds, ready for a new day. Sweet Tea

00:03:12

Speaker 1: was the youngest horse living on Sweet Pine Ranch, and

00:03:15

Speaker 1: as she heard the cockrell's call, she started to stretch

00:03:19

Speaker 1: her body and flutter her sleepy eyes open. Sometimes she

00:03:24

Speaker 1: wished that the cockrew would let them all sleep in

00:03:26

Speaker 1: a little longer. Her days as the youngest horse on

00:03:30

Speaker 1: the ranch used to be as leisurely as she wished.

00:03:34

Speaker 1: She would rise whenever she felt like it and take

00:03:37

Speaker 1: naps whenever she could. She would lazily graze in the

00:03:42

Speaker 1: fields and watch the older horses carry out their duties

00:03:46

Speaker 1: on the ranch, never contributing much with her own skills.

00:03:50

Speaker 1: But that's because she hadn't developed them yet. Now that

00:03:55

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea was tall enough, there was time for her

00:03:59

Speaker 1: to learn a row too and start pulling her weight

00:04:02

Speaker 1: on the ranch. Besides, soon there would be another horse

00:04:06

Speaker 1: born on the ranch, signaling the end of sweet Teas

00:04:09

Speaker 1: time as the youngest and ushering her into the next

00:04:13

Speaker 1: stage of her life. It was very exciting, and Sweet

00:04:17

Speaker 1: Tea couldn't wait to learn how to do all the

00:04:19

Speaker 1: things that the other horses could do. As Sweet Tea

00:04:24

Speaker 1: was rising from her bed, she heard a soft voice

00:04:28

Speaker 1: call out into her box stall. Wakey, wakey, sleepy hair.

00:04:34

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea recognized the familiar voice. She looked up and

00:04:38

Speaker 1: saw her young owner, Georgia, peering over the stall door.

00:04:43

Speaker 1: Georgia smiled at her with a big toothy grin and

00:04:46

Speaker 1: began to unlock the stool. We're going to have lots

00:04:51

Speaker 1: of fun today, Georgia announced as she swung open the door.

00:04:55

Speaker 1: Mom and Dad have given us something exciting to do.

00:05:00

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea noticed that Georgia had lost another tooth, and

00:05:04

Speaker 1: she could now poke her tongue out of the gap

00:05:06

Speaker 1: at the front of her mouth. Sweet Tea always thought

00:05:10

Speaker 1: it was so bizarre that humans lose their teeth and

00:05:13

Speaker 1: grow new, bigger ones. Why aren't their teeth already big enough,

00:05:19

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea often thought. Georgia's family ran the ranch that

00:05:25

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea and the other horses lived on, and they

00:05:27

Speaker 1: all kept busy together. They offered horse riding lessons to

00:05:31

Speaker 1: children and embarked upon treks through the open range. Plus

00:05:36

Speaker 1: they had to maintain the care for the acres and

00:05:39

Speaker 1: acres of land that surrounded them. Every day, there was

00:05:43

Speaker 1: always plenty to do to keep them entertained, and it

00:05:47

Speaker 1: sounded like Georgia had some intriguing plans for Sweet Tea today.

00:05:53

Speaker 1: Georgia gently placed a saddle and a pair of stirrups

00:05:56

Speaker 1: over Sweet Tea's back, along with a set of reins

00:06:00

Speaker 1: to her neck, and then guided her outside into the

00:06:03

Speaker 1: morning sunlight. Sweet Tea and Georgia both lifted their faces

00:06:09

Speaker 1: to the warm sun, took a big breath, and sighed happily.

00:06:15

Speaker 1: It was a beautiful day as always. Sweet Tea passed

00:06:21

Speaker 1: all of her fellow horse friends as they paraded out

00:06:24

Speaker 1: across the ranch to start their day. She saw her

00:06:28

Speaker 1: friend honey Drop heading out towards the grazing lands. Honey

00:06:32

Speaker 1: Drop was a tall, golden colored horse, hence his name.

00:06:37

Speaker 1: He was arguably the most beautiful horse on the ranch,

00:06:41

Speaker 1: with such unique hair and his majestic stance. He was

00:06:46

Speaker 1: taller than all the other horses, and so he was

00:06:49

Speaker 1: often called upon to lead the other horses on trecks

00:06:53

Speaker 1: out into the wilderness. Then Sweet Tea passed Buttercup and

00:06:58

Speaker 1: wished her good morning. Buttercup was a silvery gray colored

00:07:04

Speaker 1: horse with white hair. She that like she came from

00:07:08

Speaker 1: a magical world. Sometimes Sweet Tea overheard children proclaiming that

00:07:15

Speaker 1: Buttercup was a unicorn just missing her horn. Buttercup could

00:07:20

Speaker 1: often be found herding the cattle on the pastures. She

00:07:24

Speaker 1: was gentle and caring, but also firm and confident, making

00:07:30

Speaker 1: her perfect for bossing the cattle around from pasture to pasture.

00:07:36

Speaker 1: As Georgia led Sweet Tea around the back of the ranch,

00:07:40

Speaker 1: they passed a horse called Cookie being guided by Georgie's

00:07:43

Speaker 1: mother over to the horse riding arena. Cookie had been

00:07:48

Speaker 1: named so due to his brown and white spotted body.

00:07:52

Speaker 1: He looked a little like a chocolate chip. Cookie. Cookie

00:07:56

Speaker 1: often worked with George's mum offering horse riding lessons to children.

00:08:01

Speaker 1: All the kids wanted to ride Cookie. He was their favorite,

00:08:06

Speaker 1: and he was a very patient and understanding companion for

00:08:10

Speaker 1: the young horse riders. Sweet Tea wondered what would become

00:08:15

Speaker 1: her main duty on the ranch as she grew up.

00:08:19

Speaker 1: Would she grow up big and strong and become a

00:08:22

Speaker 1: trek leader like honey Drop, or would she help move

00:08:26

Speaker 1: the cattle like Buttercup, Or perhaps she would assist with

00:08:31

Speaker 1: the horse riding lessons like Cookie. Sweet Tea did enjoy

00:08:36

Speaker 1: being ridden by her owner, Georgia, although she wasn't sure

00:08:39

Speaker 1: if she would want anybody else riding on her back.

00:08:43

Speaker 1: Georgia was her special person, but Georgia had a duty

00:08:47

Speaker 1: all of her own to carry out this morning, and

00:08:50

Speaker 1: it was one that was always really good fun. Georgia

00:08:54

Speaker 1: guided Sweet Tea around to the chicken coop and showed

00:08:58

Speaker 1: her that there were no chicks inside. The chickens had escaped. Again.

00:09:04

Speaker 1: This happened pretty often. Georgia turned to Sweet Tea playfully

00:09:10

Speaker 1: and suggested, are you ready for a chicken roundup? Sweet

00:09:16

Speaker 1: Tea neighed excitedly, and Georgia climbed onto her back, holding

00:09:21

Speaker 1: onto the reins and securing her feet in the stirrups.

00:09:24

Speaker 1: Then she flicked the reins and cried out, giddy up

00:09:28

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea. Right on cue, Sweet Tea picked up the

00:09:33

Speaker 1: pace and trotted around the ranch in search of the

00:09:37

Speaker 1: runaway chickens. Together, they explored the dusty yard looking out

00:09:42

Speaker 1: for stray chickens. They passed the horse riding arena and stables,

00:09:48

Speaker 1: the car park, and the main house, but there was

00:09:51

Speaker 1: no sign of the chickens. They gazed out to the

00:09:55

Speaker 1: open range, but they couldn't see any chickens dotted around them. Either,

00:10:02

Speaker 1: all they could see were the grazing cattle far off

00:10:06

Speaker 1: in the distance. Sweet Tea realized she would have to

00:10:11

Speaker 1: use more than her eyesight to find these mischievous chickens.

00:10:16

Speaker 1: She closed her eyes and honed in on what she

00:10:19

Speaker 1: could hear. Instead, she listened to the sounds in the air.

00:10:26

Speaker 1: She could hear horse footsteps galloping around the riding arena,

00:10:32

Speaker 1: and the faint orders and directions coming from Georgie's mother

00:10:36

Speaker 1: as she taught the students. Sweet Tea could hear far

00:10:40

Speaker 1: away cattle in the pastures and cars pulling into the

00:10:45

Speaker 1: car park across the gravel roads. Then her ears pricked

00:10:51

Speaker 1: at the gentle sound of clucking. Sweet Tea opened her

00:10:57

Speaker 1: eyes and glanced in the direction of the sound. It

00:11:01

Speaker 1: was coming from around the back of George's house. Sweet

00:11:07

Speaker 1: Tea clopped over to the front gate and moved through

00:11:11

Speaker 1: the front garden around to the back. As soon as

00:11:16

Speaker 1: they rounded the corner, the air filled with the repetitive

00:11:21

Speaker 1: sounds of clucking, and Georgia giggled. All of the chickens

00:11:26

Speaker 1: had congregated on the lawn at the back of Georgie's house.

00:11:31

Speaker 1: They were blissfully bobbing around, picking fruit off the bushes

00:11:35

Speaker 1: and laying down in the grass. Sweet Tea even spotted

00:11:40

Speaker 1: a laid egg or two. Georgia patted Sweet tea side

00:11:45

Speaker 1: and said, good job, Sweet Tea. Now it's time to

00:11:51

Speaker 1: round these cridders up. Sweet Tea bucked with delight and

00:11:56

Speaker 1: raced across the lawn at top speed. Her so sudden

00:12:00

Speaker 1: movement startled the chickens, and they began to flap their

00:12:04

Speaker 1: wings and run around in circles. With Georgia's guidance, Sweet

00:12:10

Speaker 1: Tea rounded up the chickens and guided them out of

00:12:13

Speaker 1: the back garden, around to the front, and back out

00:12:17

Speaker 1: the gate. The chickens clucked and gobbled as Sweet Tea

00:12:21

Speaker 1: and Georgia ushered them back across the ranch and into

00:12:24

Speaker 1: their chicken coop. When the last chicken was back safely

00:12:29

Speaker 1: in the coop, Georgia jumped down off Sweet Tea's back

00:12:33

Speaker 1: and shut the coop gate behind the feathered escape artists.

00:12:39

Speaker 1: Georgia dusted off her hands, pleased with herself, and stroked

00:12:43

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea's face. She declared, good job, Sweet Tea, we

00:12:49

Speaker 1: are quite the team. We'll be rounding up the cattle too.

00:12:53

Speaker 1: In no time, sweet Tea's heart leapt a little. She

00:12:58

Speaker 1: would love to help round up the cattle one day.

00:13:02

Speaker 1: It was a very important duty on the ranch, and

00:13:05

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea would adore being a part of it. Georgia

00:13:09

Speaker 1: held on to sweet Teas reins and walked her back

00:13:13

Speaker 1: across the ranch. They reached the horse riding arena and

00:13:17

Speaker 1: stopped by the side. The arena was a big, circular

00:13:22

Speaker 1: patch of ground specifically designated for the people learning to

00:13:27

Speaker 1: ride horses. There were only ever a handful of adults

00:13:32

Speaker 1: or children learning at a time. Sweet Tea had spent

00:13:36

Speaker 1: lots of time here as a young horse, allowing Georgia

00:13:39

Speaker 1: to learn to ride her. Georgia used to ride the

00:13:44

Speaker 1: likes of Cookie and the other medium sized horses, but

00:13:47

Speaker 1: as soon as Sweet Tea came onto the scene, Georgia

00:13:51

Speaker 1: hadn't wanted to ride anyone else. Sweet Tea was George's horse,

00:13:57

Speaker 1: and they would grow up together on the ranch, working,

00:14:01

Speaker 1: learning and playing by each other's side. The pair watched

00:14:07

Speaker 1: the children riding around the arena with admiration. Cookie, the

00:14:13

Speaker 1: most popular horse, was carrying a little boy on his back.

00:14:18

Speaker 1: The little boy looked a bit nervous and held tightly

00:14:22

Speaker 1: onto the reins, pulling them all the way up to

00:14:25

Speaker 1: his chin. Georgia's mother walked over and taught him to

00:14:30

Speaker 1: relax his arms down by his belly and loosen his grip.

00:14:35

Speaker 1: Cookie waited patiently as the little boy relaxed into the

00:14:40

Speaker 1: lesson and walked with a slow, gentle trot to help

00:14:44

Speaker 1: him feel safe and secure. Sweet Tea could see why

00:14:50

Speaker 1: the children always wanted to ride Cookie. He was so

00:14:54

Speaker 1: good at his job. Georgia smiled and stuck her tongue

00:14:59

Speaker 1: through the gap in her teeth. She gazed out at

00:15:03

Speaker 1: the open range. The landscape was a mixture of lush

00:15:08

Speaker 1: green grass and dusty sandy paths. In the distance, a

00:15:14

Speaker 1: mountain towered up into the blue sky, and a turquoise

00:15:18

Speaker 1: lake snaked its way past the base. Walking out onto

00:15:24

Speaker 1: the open range was always a picturesque, relaxing experience. Sweet

00:15:30

Speaker 1: Tea followed George's gaze, and they both had the same

00:15:34

Speaker 1: idea at the same time. It was the perfect day

00:15:39

Speaker 1: for a trek. Georgia and Sweet Tea wandered over to

00:15:45

Speaker 1: the stables, where they met Georgia's father. He was busy

00:15:50

Speaker 1: as signing visitors with a horse to ride. Georgia's father

00:15:55

Speaker 1: often led treks across the open range with guests, was

00:16:00

Speaker 1: one of their most popular offerings at the ranch. Whenever

00:16:03

Speaker 1: they could, Georgia and Sweet Tea would join in too.

00:16:08

Speaker 1: Georgia approached her father and asked, Daddy, please, can Sweet

00:16:13

Speaker 1: Tea and I come for this morning's trek. Georgia's father

00:16:18

Speaker 1: immediately gave them permission, and Georgia readied herself on Sweet

00:16:23

Speaker 1: Tea's back for the trek. Even though Georgia and Sweet

00:16:28

Speaker 1: Tea were much younger than the others on the track,

00:16:31

Speaker 1: they were still some of the most accomplished riders. Georgia

00:16:35

Speaker 1: and Sweet Tea were so in sync that their rides

00:16:39

Speaker 1: were always easy breezy. Georgia's father led all the horses

00:16:45

Speaker 1: and their riders out of the ranch and onto the

00:16:48

Speaker 1: open range. Georgia's dad rode Honey Drop up at the

00:16:52

Speaker 1: top of the line and tottered higher than everybody else.

00:16:58

Speaker 1: Following them was Sunshine Angel and Raffi and their riders,

00:17:04

Speaker 1: and Sweet Tea and Georgia walked at the back. Sunshine,

00:17:08

Speaker 1: Angel and Raffi were all big horses who were used

00:17:12

Speaker 1: to walking long distances with riders on their backs. They

00:17:16

Speaker 1: did it almost every day, and as a result they

00:17:20

Speaker 1: had big, muscley legs and strong backs. They trotted with

00:17:25

Speaker 1: pride as they wandered across the range for hours each day.

00:17:31

Speaker 1: As small as Sweet Tea followed behind them, she admired

00:17:35

Speaker 1: the breathtaking view. Who were so peaceful out here. Sweet

00:17:42

Speaker 1: Tea wondered how pleasant it must be to walk out

00:17:45

Speaker 1: here every day. Maybe when she was a bit older,

00:17:51

Speaker 1: she could become one of the big horses that journeyed

00:17:54

Speaker 1: out for treks each day. That would be a great

00:17:59

Speaker 1: duty on the runch. They all trekked across the flat

00:18:03

Speaker 1: land and climbed their way over the rocky hills. They

00:18:08

Speaker 1: made their way over to the river, where they stopped

00:18:12

Speaker 1: for a quick break. Sweet Tea and the other horses

00:18:17

Speaker 1: refreshed themselves with water from the cool, crystal clear river.

00:18:23

Speaker 1: It could get pretty warm in Texas, so it was

00:18:26

Speaker 1: important to stay hydrated. Once their break was over, Georgia

00:18:33

Speaker 1: hopped back up onto Sweet Tea's back, and they all

00:18:37

Speaker 1: made their way around the base of the mountain and

00:18:40

Speaker 1: started the journey back towards the ranch. The ranch looked

00:18:45

Speaker 1: like a small dot in the distance from the bottom

00:18:48

Speaker 1: of the mountain, and the range looked like it stretched

00:18:52

Speaker 1: out forever. Sweet Tea's legs were beginning to get tired.

00:18:58

Speaker 1: She didn't often try this far, and her little legs

00:19:02

Speaker 1: were still building up their stamina. She wasn't as strong

00:19:06

Speaker 1: as the likes of Sunshine, Angel, Raffi, and Honey Drop,

00:19:11

Speaker 1: but they all encouraged her to keep going. Sunshine fell

00:19:17

Speaker 1: back to walk alongside Sweet Tea and reassured her, don't worry,

00:19:23

Speaker 1: little sweet Tea, You're still growing. One day you'll be

00:19:29

Speaker 1: able to walk across the open range with ease. Maybe

00:19:35

Speaker 1: you'll even be able to do it twice a day,

00:19:40

Speaker 1: Raffi added, from just in front, try not to think

00:19:44

Speaker 1: about how far we still have to go. Just breeze

00:19:49

Speaker 1: and enjoy the view. Sweet Tea did as the older

00:19:54

Speaker 1: horses suggested and tried to focus on the scenery around

00:19:58

Speaker 1: them rather than counting her own footsteps. As she looked around,

00:20:05

Speaker 1: she started to notice things that she hadn't noticed before.

00:20:10

Speaker 1: The clouds in the sky were scattered and small, like

00:20:14

Speaker 1: little balls of cotton wool floating in space. A large

00:20:19

Speaker 1: eagle soared through the sky in the distance, and a

00:20:23

Speaker 1: tiny lizard scuttled past Sweet Tea's hoofs as she moved

00:20:28

Speaker 1: along the path. As they got closer to the ranch,

00:20:33

Speaker 1: they passed the herd of cattle grazing to their right.

00:20:38

Speaker 1: Their cattle were huge, and half of them had big,

00:20:43

Speaker 1: long horns that pointed out of the sides of their head.

00:20:48

Speaker 1: In their midst Sweet Tea spotted that they had a

00:20:51

Speaker 1: new calf. The little brown calf stuck close by to

00:20:56

Speaker 1: its mother and honked for attention with a little voice.

00:21:01

Speaker 1: One day the little calf would be as big and

00:21:04

Speaker 1: muscular as the adults, but right now it was miniature

00:21:09

Speaker 1: and adorable, with tiny horns only just beginning to protrude

00:21:14

Speaker 1: out of its head. As they passed by the herd,

00:21:19

Speaker 1: they saw Buttercup riding around with Randy, the ranch hand,

00:21:23

Speaker 1: on her back. Together they were herding the cattle across

00:21:26

Speaker 1: the pasture. Honey dropped the tallest horse cooled out a Buttercup.

00:21:33

Speaker 1: How's it going, Buttercup? That herd playing ball to day.

00:21:39

Speaker 1: Buttercup shook out her pristine white hair and answered, confidently,

00:21:45

Speaker 1: ain't nothing I can't handle. That baby doesn't quite understand

00:21:51

Speaker 1: the concept of movin with the herd, though, it don't

00:21:56

Speaker 1: seem to want to move in the right direction. Sweet

00:22:01

Speaker 1: Tea observed the confused little calf and had an idea.

00:22:06

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea called out to Buttercup, do you need a hand?

00:22:12

Speaker 1: I could try and help her the little one if

00:22:14

Speaker 1: you like. Maybe having some one else little around will

00:22:19

Speaker 1: help them feel more comfortable. Buttercup smiled and said that

00:22:24

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea was welcome to try. It was always helpful

00:22:28

Speaker 1: to have an extra pair of hands. So Sweet Tea

00:22:33

Speaker 1: carried Georgia over to the herd of cattle and attempted

00:22:36

Speaker 1: to help Buttercup round them up. While Buttercup focused on

00:22:41

Speaker 1: the adol cattle, Sweet Tea moved up close to the

00:22:45

Speaker 1: little calf. She walked alongside the calf and introduced herself.

00:22:51

Speaker 1: Hey there, Sweet Tea greeted them. My name is sweet Tea.

00:22:58

Speaker 1: What's your name? The curious calf replied, my name is Boof.

00:23:07

Speaker 1: Do you know what's going on? Sweet Tea smiled kindly,

00:23:13

Speaker 1: then explained to the little calf that Buttercup the horse

00:23:17

Speaker 1: was rounding up the herd to move them all to

00:23:20

Speaker 1: a new area to graze. All you have to do

00:23:25

Speaker 1: is follow the herd in the direction that Buttercup is

00:23:28

Speaker 1: leading you in, Sweet Tea explained. Boof. The calf looked

00:23:34

Speaker 1: around and noticed that the herd were moving away and

00:23:38

Speaker 1: quickly picked up the paste to follow suit. That's right,

00:23:43

Speaker 1: sweet Tea cried, encouraging Booth to follow, just follow the herd.

00:23:50

Speaker 1: Boof listened to Sweet Tea's advice and moved with the

00:23:54

Speaker 1: other cattle across the pasture. Sweet Tea and Georgia hung

00:23:59

Speaker 1: by to make sure that Booth caught up all right.

00:24:03

Speaker 1: The little calf happily plodded behind, catching up with its mother,

00:24:08

Speaker 1: and then turned back to call out over its shoulder

00:24:13

Speaker 1: tanks with the advice sweet Tea. Sweet Tea looked a

00:24:19

Speaker 1: butter cup when the gray horse nodded her head in.

00:24:22

Speaker 1: Thanks to Sweet Tea had made her job a lot easier,

00:24:28

Speaker 1: and now the young calf knew what to do. All

00:24:33

Speaker 1: they needed was someone to explain what was going on.

00:24:37

Speaker 1: It was a simple fix, really, and Sweet Tea was

00:24:41

Speaker 1: glad to have helped. Georgia watched the herd of cattle

00:24:46

Speaker 1: move away, and she guided Sweet Tea back towards the

00:24:50

Speaker 1: other horses on their track. She smiled proudly at her

00:24:56

Speaker 1: favorite horse and said out of the blue. Do you

00:25:01

Speaker 1: want to know something, Sweet Tea. One day I am

00:25:07

Speaker 1: going to round up cattle and you're going to help me.

00:25:12

Speaker 1: Will be an awesome team. Sweet Tea trotted along cheerfully.

00:25:19

Speaker 1: It seemed there was no end to the possibilities of

00:25:22

Speaker 1: what she and Georgia could do together in the future.

00:25:27

Speaker 1: They rejoined the other horses and continued the journey across

00:25:32

Speaker 1: the open range back to Sweet Pine Ranch. Sweet Tea, Georgia,

00:25:40

Speaker 1: and the other horses and riders arrived back at the ranch,

00:25:44

Speaker 1: and everyone instantly relaxed. The riders climbed off the horses backs,

00:25:52

Speaker 1: and Georgia assisted her father in guiding all the horses

00:25:57

Speaker 1: back indoors. They all deserve a good rest after a

00:26:02

Speaker 1: long trek. Sweet Tea waited in the corridor of the

00:26:08

Speaker 1: stables while Sunshine, Angel, Raffie, and Honey Drop were taken

00:26:14

Speaker 1: to bed. Her legs were so exhausted from the trek

00:26:19

Speaker 1: and she was struggling to keep her eyes open. She

00:26:23

Speaker 1: couldn't wait to rest in her bed of straw. In

00:26:26

Speaker 1: a few minutes time, Georgia came back and bounded towards

00:26:33

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea, and the young horse sighed with relief that

00:26:38

Speaker 1: it was her turn to retreat to bed, But to

00:26:42

Speaker 1: her surprise, Georgia had one last suggestion before she rested.

00:26:48

Speaker 1: Georgia whispered excitedly, sweet Tea, would you like to meet

00:26:55

Speaker 1: the new fall? Sweet Tea's eyes wide. She had known

00:27:03

Speaker 1: that a new horse was due to be born on

00:27:05

Speaker 1: the ranch soon, but she didn't think it would be today.

00:27:11

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea nodded her head with enthusiasm, and Georgia led

00:27:15

Speaker 1: the way into another part of the stables. The Sweet

00:27:18

Speaker 1: Tea hadn't been in in a long time. In fact,

00:27:23

Speaker 1: she hadn't been here since she was a young fole herself.

00:27:28

Speaker 1: It must be where all the horses are born. Georgia

00:27:33

Speaker 1: stopped outside a large stall box and opened the door wide.

00:27:39

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea and Georgia peered inside, and both of their

00:27:44

Speaker 1: hearts melted instantly. Inside the stall box, sleeping peacefully on

00:27:52

Speaker 1: a bed of straw, was a tiny newborn fole. The

00:27:58

Speaker 1: little brown fole was sweetly snoring as it curled up

00:28:02

Speaker 1: close to its mother's side. George's mother was sitting next

00:28:07

Speaker 1: to them, stroking the horse's face affectionately. Georgia whispered to

00:28:14

Speaker 1: her mother, what have you called the fole. Georgie's mother

00:28:21

Speaker 1: whispered back that the new fold didn't have a name yet,

00:28:26

Speaker 1: causing Georgia to jump up and down eagerly begging to

00:28:30

Speaker 1: name the new baby horse. Georgie's mother laughed softly and replied,

00:28:38

Speaker 1: all right, then, what would you like to call it?

00:28:44

Speaker 1: Georgia paused and thought hard. It had to be a

00:28:50

Speaker 1: good name. It had been Georgia that had named Sweet

00:28:55

Speaker 1: Tea just over a year ago. Too. After some thought,

00:29:01

Speaker 1: Georgia announced that she had the perfect name for the fol.

00:29:06

Speaker 1: It would be called Biscuit. Sweet Tea quietly trotted forward

00:29:12

Speaker 1: to inspect the new fol Called Biscuit, she was fast

00:29:16

Speaker 1: asleep and breathing heavily, no doubt, enjoying a sweet dream

00:29:23

Speaker 1: after the tiring effort of being born into the world.

00:29:28

Speaker 1: Biscuit was a rich brown color with jet black hair.

00:29:34

Speaker 1: Sweet Tea leant down and nuzzled her long face against

00:29:39

Speaker 1: the cheek of the sleeping newborn fol. She whispered, Welcome

00:29:47

Speaker 1: to Sweet Pine Ranch, Biscuit. You're going to like it here.

00:29:55

Speaker 1: It felt a little strange to Sweet Tea to not

00:29:58

Speaker 1: be the youngest horse on the ranch anymore, but it

00:30:02

Speaker 1: was exciting too. Now she had someone to teach everything

00:30:08

Speaker 1: she had learned. Sweet Tea could help guide Biscuit as

00:30:14

Speaker 1: they grew up, and maybe they would grow up to

00:30:17

Speaker 1: be friends too. Besides, Sweet Tea couldn't wait for all

00:30:23

Speaker 1: the new duties she would learn and be entrusted with

00:30:26

Speaker 1: as one of the older horses on Sweet Pine Ranch.

00:30:31

Speaker 1: Georgia guided Sweet Tea back to her bed to rest,

00:30:37

Speaker 1: and the young horse laid down in the hay. Immediately,

00:30:43

Speaker 1: Georgia closed the stall door and peeked over the top

00:30:49

Speaker 1: to whisper, have a nice rest, sweet Tea, I enjoyed

00:30:55

Speaker 1: our fun today. Sleep well. Then Georgia disappeared and Sweet

00:31:03

Speaker 1: Tea was left on her own to relax. She closed

00:31:10

Speaker 1: her eyes and laid her head in the hay. Her

00:31:16

Speaker 1: whole body felt so tired, and she slumped against the

00:31:22

Speaker 1: bed of straw gratefully. Her Sweet Tea drifted off to sleep.

00:31:31

Speaker 1: She wondered what her future duties on the ranch would be.

00:31:37

Speaker 1: Would she be a horse riding teacher or a trecker,

00:31:43

Speaker 1: or would she help round up the cattle. Whatever her duty,

00:31:49

Speaker 1: sweet Tea only hoped that Georgia would be by her

00:31:54

Speaker 1: side to guide her and make every day has fun

00:31:59

Speaker 1: filled as today was.
