Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to Coco Sleep, a podcast of

00:00:14

Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime

00:00:20

Speaker 1: a dream. Did you know that baby goats are called kids. Well,

00:00:27

Speaker 1: tonight we meet a kid called Bluebell who cannot sleep.

00:00:31

Speaker 1: We all know the feeling of lying. They're tired but sleepless,

00:00:35

Speaker 1: and it's very frustrating. This story is full of good

00:00:40

Speaker 1: ideas for how to fall asleep, though, and could be

00:00:44

Speaker 1: a good one to listen to when you're struggling. I

00:00:48

Speaker 1: find one of the best things to do is to

00:00:51

Speaker 1: stop thinking of sleeping and start thinking of relaxing your body.

00:00:56

Speaker 1: Try to clear your mind of your busy thoughts and

00:00:59

Speaker 1: instead work on relaxing one part of your body at

00:01:03

Speaker 1: a time, starting with your feet, moving up your legs

00:01:09

Speaker 1: to your hips, your tummy, your chest, shoulders, neck, head, arms, hands,

00:01:23

Speaker 1: until every single part of your body is relaxed. Now

00:01:29

Speaker 1: snuggle down a little bit more and come with me

00:01:33

Speaker 1: to meet our friendly baby goat called Bluebell, who is

00:01:37

Speaker 1: trying and trying to fall asleep. Nothing is working until

00:01:43

Speaker 1: her grandma takes her on a twilight stroll around the

00:01:46

Speaker 1: farm where they live. They meet many animals during their walk,

00:01:51

Speaker 1: including a sheep dog who gives Bluebell some very wise advice,

00:01:56

Speaker 1: and very soon she easily falls the Let's begin The

00:02:03

Speaker 1: Kid who Couldn't Sleep by Jillian Rogerson. Blue Bell was

00:02:14

Speaker 1: a babygoat who lived inside a cozy shed with her family.

00:02:19

Speaker 1: She had been born on a sunny spring day in April,

00:02:22

Speaker 1: when the fields had been carpeted in delicate bluebells. When

00:02:28

Speaker 1: her parents first laid eyes on their beautiful daughter, they

00:02:32

Speaker 1: knew blue Bell was the perfect name for her. Blue

00:02:37

Speaker 1: Bell's favorite part of every day was bedtime. She would

00:02:41

Speaker 1: have a bubble bath followed by a warm drink, and

00:02:45

Speaker 1: then get all snug and warm inside her bed of hay.

00:02:50

Speaker 1: Blue Bell would listen to a bedtime story and then

00:02:54

Speaker 1: gently drift off to sleep. But one evening, blue Bell

00:03:00

Speaker 1: just could not get to sleep. She'd had her bark

00:03:04

Speaker 1: and her warm drink. She had snuggled down in her

00:03:08

Speaker 1: soft bed and laid her head upon her pillow. Then

00:03:13

Speaker 1: she had listened to a calming bedtime story about two

00:03:17

Speaker 1: dogs having an adventure in a far away land. Blue

00:03:22

Speaker 1: Bell had closed her eyes, smiled softly, but hadn't fallen asleep.

00:03:29

Speaker 1: And now she shuffled this way and that way in

00:03:32

Speaker 1: her bed, trying to get more comfortable. She wondered if

00:03:38

Speaker 1: there was something wrong with her bed. Blue Bell nodded

00:03:42

Speaker 1: to herself, Yes, that was it. There must be something

00:03:47

Speaker 1: wrong with her bed. She didn't know exactly what was

00:03:50

Speaker 1: wrong with it, so she called out for her mum.

00:03:55

Speaker 1: Her mum came rushing into the room, wearing her dressing

00:03:58

Speaker 1: gown with pink curl her hair. Mam asked, blue Bell,

00:04:04

Speaker 1: are you okay? Blue Bell pointed to her bed and

00:04:08

Speaker 1: told her mum there must be something wrong with it

00:04:12

Speaker 1: because she just could not get to sleep. Blue Bell

00:04:16

Speaker 1: asked if there was different straw inside it that evening.

00:04:21

Speaker 1: Blue Bell's mum shook her head and said it was

00:04:24

Speaker 1: the same straw that they always used, the straw that

00:04:28

Speaker 1: the farmer left by the door for them. Blue Bell

00:04:32

Speaker 1: gave the bed a long look and decided some of

00:04:36

Speaker 1: the straw was in the wrong place and asked her

00:04:40

Speaker 1: mum if she should shuffle it about a bit. Mum

00:04:44

Speaker 1: said it was worth a try. Blue Bell hopped out

00:04:48

Speaker 1: of bed and with her mum's help, she shuffled the

00:04:51

Speaker 1: straw about and gave it a good pat down. Mum said,

00:04:57

Speaker 1: is that better, blue Bell. The little kid noticed a

00:05:02

Speaker 1: piece of straw sticking up at the bottom of the bed.

00:05:07

Speaker 1: She moved over to it, plucked it from the bed,

00:05:10

Speaker 1: and gave it to her mum. Blue Bell said, I

00:05:14

Speaker 1: don't need this bit. I think my bed is perfect now,

00:05:19

Speaker 1: thanks mum. Good night. Blue Bell got back into bed

00:05:26

Speaker 1: and snuggled down on the soft, comfy straw. Her mum

00:05:31

Speaker 1: said good night, sweet dreams, and tiptoed out of the room.

00:05:40

Speaker 1: Blue Bell sighed happily and waited to fall asleep. She

00:05:46

Speaker 1: waited and waited, but she just could not get to sleep.

00:05:54

Speaker 1: She sat up and looked at the pillow. Was there

00:05:58

Speaker 1: something wrong with it? Yes, that was it. There must

00:06:03

Speaker 1: be something wrong with her pillow. She didn't know exactly

00:06:08

Speaker 1: what was wrong with it, so she called out for

00:06:10

Speaker 1: her dad. Her dad came rushing into the room. Bluebell,

00:06:15

Speaker 1: you okay, he asked. Blue Bell pointed to the pillow

00:06:21

Speaker 1: and said she couldn't sleep because there was something wrong

00:06:25

Speaker 1: with it. Dad said, perhaps the pillow needs plumping up.

00:06:32

Speaker 1: Shall I do that for you? Blue Bell nodded. She

00:06:38

Speaker 1: watched her dad plump up the pillow until it was

00:06:41

Speaker 1: the perfect shape and plumpness. He passed it to Bluebell

00:06:46

Speaker 1: and told her to give it an extra plump up

00:06:48

Speaker 1: for good luck. Blue Bell did so. She put the

00:06:53

Speaker 1: extra plump pillow back on her bed and laid her

00:06:57

Speaker 1: head on it. She died happily and told her dad

00:07:02

Speaker 1: it was perfect. She thanked him for his help. Her

00:07:08

Speaker 1: dad said good night, sweet dreams, and tiptoed out of

00:07:14

Speaker 1: the room. Blue Bell closed her eyes and waited to

00:07:20

Speaker 1: fall asleep. She waited and waited, but she just couldn't

00:07:29

Speaker 1: get to sleep. What could be wrong now? Blue Bell

00:07:35

Speaker 1: sat up and thought about the matter. Ahah She had

00:07:41

Speaker 1: forgotten to tell her parents about her day, what she'd done,

00:07:47

Speaker 1: what games she had played, and the new dance she

00:07:50

Speaker 1: had made up with her best friend, Clover the Calf.

00:07:54

Speaker 1: She had to tell them about the new dance, and

00:07:58

Speaker 1: she had to tell them right now. She called out

00:08:02

Speaker 1: for her parents. Her mom and dad came rushing into

00:08:06

Speaker 1: the room and asked what was wrong. Blue Bell said,

00:08:11

Speaker 1: I haven't told you about my day. That's why I

00:08:15

Speaker 1: can't sleep. I'll tell you all about it now, and

00:08:20

Speaker 1: I'll show you the new dance I made up. You

00:08:23

Speaker 1: can join in with me if you want to. Blue

00:08:27

Speaker 1: Bell's mom covered up a yawn with her hoof, blinked tiredly,

00:08:33

Speaker 1: and said, blue Bell, it's getting late. Could you tell

00:08:39

Speaker 1: us about your dance tomorrow instead? Please? Blue Bell said,

00:08:46

Speaker 1: but what if I forget everything? My thoughts about my

00:08:51

Speaker 1: day won't go away unless I tell you everything. Now.

00:08:55

Speaker 1: I can feel my thoughts going round and round my

00:08:59

Speaker 1: head and they won't keep still. Dad said, I completely understand,

00:09:08

Speaker 1: blue Bell. My thoughts are like that some nights, and

00:09:12

Speaker 1: you know what I do. Blue Bell shook her head.

00:09:17

Speaker 1: Her dad continued, I write everything down in my journal.

00:09:24

Speaker 1: I even add pictures sometimes. Would you like a journal

00:09:28

Speaker 1: of your own? I've got some spare ones that I

00:09:31

Speaker 1: haven't used yet. Blue Bell said she would like that

00:09:37

Speaker 1: very much. Dad left the room and returned a few

00:09:42

Speaker 1: moments later with three blank journals. The journals were in

00:09:47

Speaker 1: different colors, purple, blue, and green. Blue Bell chose the

00:09:54

Speaker 1: purple one. Dad gave her a purple pencil to go

00:09:58

Speaker 1: with it, and told her to write down all those

00:10:02

Speaker 1: thoughts that were in her head, and once they were

00:10:06

Speaker 1: on the paper, they wouldn't be in her head anymore

00:10:09

Speaker 1: and she'd be able to sleep. Blue Bell opened the

00:10:14

Speaker 1: journal to the first blank page and said, can I

00:10:19

Speaker 1: tell you what I've written in here tomorrow morning, only

00:10:24

Speaker 1: if you want to. Dad replied, it's your journal, with

00:10:30

Speaker 1: your thoughts. You can do what you like with it.

00:10:36

Speaker 1: Blue Bell said thank you and began to draw a

00:10:39

Speaker 1: picture of herself dancing with clover. Her parents said good night,

00:10:48

Speaker 1: sweet dreams, and tiptoed out of the room. Blue Bell

00:10:54

Speaker 1: drew another picture, and then another one. She yawned. She

00:11:01

Speaker 1: wrote about the games she had played that day and

00:11:04

Speaker 1: the food she had eaten. She yawned again. Bluebell looked

00:11:10

Speaker 1: at the journal. She couldn't think of anything else to write,

00:11:15

Speaker 1: and decided her thoughts must have left her head for

00:11:19

Speaker 1: the night. The little kid closed the journal and put

00:11:24

Speaker 1: it on her bedside table with a purple pencil next

00:11:28

Speaker 1: to it. She settled down in her comfy bed with

00:11:33

Speaker 1: her head on her plump pillow. Her mind was free

00:11:39

Speaker 1: of all thoughts. She waited to fall asleep. She waited

00:11:48

Speaker 1: and waited, but she just could not get to sleep.

00:11:55

Speaker 1: She shuffled this way and that way. She plumped up

00:11:59

Speaker 1: her pillow again. She thought about writing in her journal again,

00:12:05

Speaker 1: but I was too tired to do so. Blue Bell

00:12:10

Speaker 1: mumbled to herself. Oh, I don't understand why I can't

00:12:15

Speaker 1: sleep when I'm so very tired. She thought she might

00:12:21

Speaker 1: be thirsty or hungry. Should she call out for her

00:12:27

Speaker 1: parents again? She heard soft snorls coming from their room

00:12:34

Speaker 1: and thought it best not to disturb them again. Blue

00:12:40

Speaker 1: Bell stared at her ceiling and sighed. Her door gently opened,

00:12:47

Speaker 1: and Grandma tiptoed in. She smiled at blue Bell and whispered,

00:12:53

Speaker 1: I heard you shuffling about in your bed. Can't you sleep,

00:12:58

Speaker 1: little one? Blue Bell whispered back, I can't, Grandma. I'm

00:13:06

Speaker 1: so very tired, but I just can't fall asleep. Blue

00:13:14

Speaker 1: Bell told her about the bed, the pillow, and the journal.

00:13:20

Speaker 1: Grandma nodded an understanding, and said she sometimes had those

00:13:25

Speaker 1: nights where she couldn't sleep, and it just so happened

00:13:30

Speaker 1: that she was having one of those nights that evening.

00:13:35

Speaker 1: And what will you do to help you sleep, grandma,

00:13:40

Speaker 1: blue Bell asked. Grandma replied, I'll go for a twilight

00:13:48

Speaker 1: stroll around the farm and see if that tires me

00:13:52

Speaker 1: out a little more. Would you like to come with me?

00:13:58

Speaker 1: Blue Bell said yes and quietly climbed out of bed.

00:14:05

Speaker 1: Grandma and blue Bell tiptoed into the kitchen and put

00:14:09

Speaker 1: on their coats. As Grandma helped to button up blue

00:14:14

Speaker 1: Bell's coat, she said, blue Bell, you must never go

00:14:20

Speaker 1: for a twilight stroll on your own, because the farm

00:14:24

Speaker 1: looks different at night time, and we don't want you

00:14:27

Speaker 1: wandering into the stables or into the chicken coop by mistake.

00:14:33

Speaker 1: Imagine if you woke up next to the chicks one morning,

00:14:39

Speaker 1: you might start chirping like they do. Grandma smiled. Blue

00:14:45

Speaker 1: Bell giggled at the thought and promised never to go

00:14:50

Speaker 1: out walking on her own. The kid left the house

00:14:55

Speaker 1: with her grandma. The full moon was out, but it

00:14:59

Speaker 1: wasn't quite dark yet, and the sky was a beautiful

00:15:04

Speaker 1: shade of lilac. Hundreds of sparkling stars were scattered across

00:15:11

Speaker 1: the sky like diamonds. Grandma and Bluebear heard some chirping

00:15:19

Speaker 1: coming from the chicken coop. Grandma said it sounded like

00:15:24

Speaker 1: the chicks were still awake. The two goats walked over

00:15:30

Speaker 1: to the chicken coop. The little fluffy chicks were running

00:15:35

Speaker 1: around their tired mother, chirping about something. Their mother was

00:15:42

Speaker 1: shaking her head and asking them to speak one at

00:15:46

Speaker 1: a time, please grandma said to the mother, good evening, Mildred,

00:15:54

Speaker 1: is something wrong with your babies? Can we help? Mildred

00:16:01

Speaker 1: gave her chicks a soft smile and told blue Bell's

00:16:05

Speaker 1: grandma her babies should have been asleep by now, but

00:16:10

Speaker 1: they kept telling her they couldn't sleep because something was

00:16:14

Speaker 1: wrong inside the hen house. But because they were all

00:16:19

Speaker 1: talking at once, she didn't know what the problem was.

00:16:24

Speaker 1: An idea came to blue Bell, and she asked Mildred

00:16:28

Speaker 1: if she could join them in the coop, because she

00:16:31

Speaker 1: might be able to stop the chicks from talking all

00:16:34

Speaker 1: at once. Mildred said yes, of course, and invited blue

00:16:40

Speaker 1: Bell in. Blue Bell jumped over the low fence that

00:16:45

Speaker 1: surrounded the coop and began to perform the dance she

00:16:50

Speaker 1: had made up earlier that day. She jegged from side

00:16:55

Speaker 1: to side, bobbed, and boogied. The chirp chicks fell silent

00:17:03

Speaker 1: and gazed in wonder at the dancing kid. Some of

00:17:08

Speaker 1: them joined in blue Bell's moves. Blue Bell came to

00:17:14

Speaker 1: the end of her dance, and before the chicks could

00:17:18

Speaker 1: start chirping again, she asked what was wrong inside the

00:17:23

Speaker 1: hen house and why they couldn't sleep. One of the

00:17:28

Speaker 1: chicks said, we can't get comfy in our beds. We

00:17:35

Speaker 1: think there must be something wrong with them, but we

00:17:39

Speaker 1: don't know what. Blue Bell asked Mildred if she could

00:17:44

Speaker 1: have a look at the chicks beds. Mildred flapped her

00:17:49

Speaker 1: wings and said, yes, please do. Ducking her head, blue

00:17:56

Speaker 1: Bell squeezed into the hen house and looked at the

00:17:59

Speaker 1: line of little straw beds. The chicks followed her in.

00:18:06

Speaker 1: Blue Bell thought about her own bed at home and

00:18:10

Speaker 1: told the chicks to give the straw in their beds

00:18:14

Speaker 1: a good shuffle around until the beds felt comfortable again.

00:18:21

Speaker 1: There was a flurry of golden yellow feathers as the

00:18:25

Speaker 1: chicks rushed towards their little beds and started to rearrange

00:18:31

Speaker 1: the tufts of straw. Once they had finished that, blue

00:18:37

Speaker 1: Bell told them to plump up their pillows. She told

00:18:41

Speaker 1: them how to do it. The chicks listened carefully to

00:18:46

Speaker 1: her instructions and plumped up their tiny pillows. The tired

00:18:54

Speaker 1: chicks snuggled down in their beds and told blue Bell

00:18:59

Speaker 1: that they were perfect fully comfortable now. The chicks looked

00:19:04

Speaker 1: so cozy and sleepy that they made blue Bell yawn.

00:19:10

Speaker 1: The sleepy chicks yawned too. The chicks eyes closed, and

00:19:18

Speaker 1: one by one they fell asleep. Blue Bell whispered good night,

00:19:27

Speaker 1: sweet dreams, and tiptoed out of the hen house. Mildred

00:19:34

Speaker 1: thanked the kind kid and said the chicks had never

00:19:39

Speaker 1: fallen asleep all at the same time before. She said

00:19:44

Speaker 1: good night to the two goats and walked towards the

00:19:48

Speaker 1: hen house with a blissful smile on her face. Grandma

00:19:55

Speaker 1: asked blue Bell if she was ready to go home.

00:20:01

Speaker 1: Not just yet, Grandma Bloubell replied. The two goats continued

00:20:08

Speaker 1: strolling around the farm. They soon heard a commotion coming

00:20:14

Speaker 1: from the pigsty Grandma said, it sounds like one of

00:20:21

Speaker 1: the piglets is still awake. He really should be asleep

00:20:26

Speaker 1: at this time of the night. Shall we see what's

00:20:29

Speaker 1: going on? Bluebell nodded. The two goats walked towards the

00:20:35

Speaker 1: pig stye. They saw one of the piglets, Jeremy, chigging

00:20:41

Speaker 1: about in front of his parents, talking non stop. Grandma

00:20:48

Speaker 1: called out a quiet, good evening. Jeremy was too lost

00:20:54

Speaker 1: in his words to notice the visitors. He continued talking

00:21:00

Speaker 1: about one thing and another, his legs jigging in time

00:21:05

Speaker 1: to the rapid melody of his words. Jeremy's mother walked

00:21:12

Speaker 1: over to the goats and said, good evening. I hope

00:21:19

Speaker 1: Jeremy's not disturbing your twilight stroll. He said he wouldn't

00:21:25

Speaker 1: be able to sleep until he told us absolutely everything

00:21:30

Speaker 1: about his day and all the things he's been thinking about.

00:21:36

Speaker 1: She laughed softly. He isn't showing any signs or slowing

00:21:41

Speaker 1: down yet. I had no idea Jeremy had so many

00:21:46

Speaker 1: thoughts in his head. Blue Bar said, I had lots

00:21:53

Speaker 1: of thoughts in my head earlier, and my dad told

00:21:57

Speaker 1: me to write them down in a journal. Jeremy's mother

00:22:03

Speaker 1: moved closer and said, a journal. Tell me more. Blue

00:22:10

Speaker 1: Bell did so. Jeremy's mother said they didn't have any

00:22:16

Speaker 1: journals in their home, but she had a notepad that

00:22:20

Speaker 1: she used as a shopping list, and would that do

00:22:24

Speaker 1: blue Bell said it might. The mother pigs spun around

00:22:29

Speaker 1: and dashed into the small shed where the family slept

00:22:34

Speaker 1: at night. She returned with a notepad and a pencil

00:22:39

Speaker 1: for Jeremy. The piglet finally stopped talking and looked at

00:22:46

Speaker 1: the book in confusion. His mother pointed to blue Bell

00:22:51

Speaker 1: and explained how she had written down all her thoughts

00:22:56

Speaker 1: earlier and it had made her head feel clearer. Jeremy said,

00:23:04

Speaker 1: I can write down all my thoughts, every single one.

00:23:10

Speaker 1: His mother nodded. Blue Bell said he could draw lots

00:23:14

Speaker 1: of pictures too if he wanted. Jeremy grinned at the

00:23:19

Speaker 1: book and said, I am going to start writing straight away.

00:23:25

Speaker 1: I'll do that in my bed so I'm comfy and cozy.

00:23:28

Speaker 1: Thanks Mom, Thanks blue Bell. The happy piglet walked towards

00:23:35

Speaker 1: the family home. His mom smiled when she saw him, yawning.

00:23:42

Speaker 1: Jeremy's mother and father said thank you to blue Bell

00:23:45

Speaker 1: and her. Grandma. Mildred said she would pop to the

00:23:50

Speaker 1: shops in the morning and buy some journals, as she

00:23:53

Speaker 1: quite liked the idea of having one for herself for

00:23:59

Speaker 1: those good night, and walked away. Grandma asked blue Bell

00:24:06

Speaker 1: if she was ready to return home yet, not just yet,

00:24:11

Speaker 1: Grandma blue Bell replied. The two goats continued on their

00:24:17

Speaker 1: twilight walk. The rest of the farm animals were fast asleep.

00:24:26

Speaker 1: The ducks and darklings snoozed at the side of their pond.

00:24:33

Speaker 1: The horses and foals slept snugly inside their stable. Rabbits

00:24:40

Speaker 1: were cozy inside their burrows. Cows and calves slumbered peacefully

00:24:49

Speaker 1: in the fields. Blue Bell saw her friend Clover fast

00:24:55

Speaker 1: asleep with her sisters. She wondered if Clover was dreaming

00:25:01

Speaker 1: about the dance they had made up that day. That

00:25:05

Speaker 1: would be a nice dream. Thinking about dreams made blue

00:25:11

Speaker 1: Bell yawn. Soft snores echoed around the farm, a soothing

00:25:20

Speaker 1: lullaby of snoozing animals happily lost in their peaceful dream.

00:25:30

Speaker 1: Grandma looked down at blue Bell and asked again if

00:25:35

Speaker 1: she was ready to go home. Blue Bell yawned, blinked tiredly,

00:25:42

Speaker 1: and said, not just yet, Grandma, But if you want

00:25:48

Speaker 1: to go home, I'll go too. Grandma smiled and said,

00:25:56

Speaker 1: not just yet. When I'm out on one of my

00:26:00

Speaker 1: twilight strolls, I always end up in a certain place

00:26:07

Speaker 1: to meet an old friend of mine. Let me take

00:26:11

Speaker 1: you there now, and after that, I think we'll both

00:26:16

Speaker 1: be ready to go home and sleep. Grandma led blue

00:26:22

Speaker 1: Bell away from the sleeping farm animals and into a field.

00:26:28

Speaker 1: The bright moon shone brightly across the grass, and at

00:26:33

Speaker 1: first blue Bell thought the fluffy clouds had fallen from

00:26:38

Speaker 1: the sky and were resting on the ground. She rubbed

00:26:45

Speaker 1: her tired eyes and saw the clouds weren't clouds at all.

00:26:51

Speaker 1: There were actually sheep and lambs who were fast asleep

00:26:56

Speaker 1: on the soft grass, and sheep dog was sitting in

00:27:02

Speaker 1: the middle of the field. He was called Shep and

00:27:08

Speaker 1: had been in charge of the sheep for years, just

00:27:12

Speaker 1: like his father and his grandfather had been before him.

00:27:18

Speaker 1: Shep was sitting upright and keeping an expert eye on

00:27:23

Speaker 1: the dozing sheep and lambs, ready to tend to any

00:27:28

Speaker 1: who woke up in the night. Grandma and blue Bell

00:27:33

Speaker 1: walked over to Shep and sat next to him. Shep

00:27:40

Speaker 1: smiled at them and said to blue Bell's grandma, m

00:27:46

Speaker 1: it seems like you're having one of those nights when

00:27:50

Speaker 1: you can't sleep again. Grandma nodded. Blue Bell said she

00:27:57

Speaker 1: was having one of those nights too. I didn't think

00:28:00

Speaker 1: she would ever get to sleep. In a slow, soothing tone,

00:28:07

Speaker 1: Chep said, sleep always comes when you stop thinking about it,

00:28:16

Speaker 1: take a closer look around you, and focus on what

00:28:21

Speaker 1: you can see and smell. Blue Bell gazed softly at

00:28:28

Speaker 1: the full moon shining brightly in the navy sky, and

00:28:34

Speaker 1: the stars that glittered and glimmered. She felt the warm

00:28:41

Speaker 1: evening air wrap around her like a comforting blanket. She

00:28:48

Speaker 1: heard an owl hooting from a tree at the edge

00:28:51

Speaker 1: of the field. Blue Bell rested against her grandma, her

00:28:58

Speaker 1: tired eyes struggling to stay open. Shep said to the

00:29:06

Speaker 1: little kid, when I can't get to sleep, I like

00:29:12

Speaker 1: to count things, especially my sheep. Would you like to

00:29:17

Speaker 1: try that. You don't have to move, stay right where

00:29:23

Speaker 1: you are. Blue Bell said she was good at counting

00:29:31

Speaker 1: and could count all the way up to one hundred.

00:29:36

Speaker 1: Shep began counting, and blue Bell joined in. One sleeping sheep,

00:29:45

Speaker 1: two sleeping sheep, three sleeping sheep, four sleeping sheep, five

00:29:55

Speaker 1: sleeping sheep, six sleeping sheep, seven sleeping sheep, eight sleeping sheep,

00:30:07

Speaker 1: nine sleeping sheep, ten sleeping sheep. Blue Bell let out

00:30:15

Speaker 1: a long, long yawn. She told shep she'd lost count

00:30:22

Speaker 1: of the sheep the wise old sheep dog, so that

00:30:29

Speaker 1: was okay and she could start from the beginning. So

00:30:35

Speaker 1: blue Bell did one sleeping sheep, two sleeping sheep, three

00:30:43

Speaker 1: sleeping sheep, four sleeping sheep, five sleeping sheep, six sleeping sheep,

00:30:55

Speaker 1: seven sleeping sheep eight sleeping sheep, nine sleeping sheep, ten

00:31:05

Speaker 1: sleeping sheep. Blue Bells heavy eyes began to close. She

00:31:12

Speaker 1: fell sleepier and sleepier. She lost count of the sheep

00:31:19

Speaker 1: and started again. One sleeping sheep, two sleeping sheep, three

00:31:29

Speaker 1: sleeping sheep, four sleeping sheep. Blue Bell, the kid who

00:31:37

Speaker 1: couldn't go to sleep, finally fell asleep. Her grandma picked

00:31:46

Speaker 1: her up, said good night to chef, and carried her

00:31:51

Speaker 1: granddaughter back to the family home. She tucked the sleeping

00:31:58

Speaker 1: kid into her cozy bed of straw and whispered good night,

00:32:05

Speaker 1: sweet dreams, and then she tiptoed out of the room.

00:32:13

Speaker 1: Blue Bell was fast asleep in her cozy bed and

00:32:20

Speaker 1: dreaming about counting sheep one sleeping sheep, two sleeping sheep,

00:32:31

Speaker 1: three sleeping sheep, four sleeping sheep, five sleeping sheep, six

00:32:40

Speaker 1: sleeping sheep, seven sleeping sheep, eight sleeping sheep, nine sleeping sheep,

00:32:55

Speaker 1: ten sleeping sheep.
