00:00:10

Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to Koala Moon, a podcast of

00:00:14

Speaker 1: original children's bedtime stories and meditations designed to make bedtime

00:00:19

Speaker 1: with dream and look. Today's shout out list has been

00:00:24

Speaker 1: left on my microphone with a very distinctive koalaie shaped

00:00:29

Speaker 1: pawprint on it. Hi Adam from La Crescent, Minnesota, Cade

00:00:33

Speaker 1: and Kai from Ohio, and happy eighth birthday to Fiakra Davis.

00:00:38

Speaker 1: Having all join the Coco Club is so special. The

00:00:42

Speaker 1: support of you and your families means the world. It

00:00:45

Speaker 1: lets us write more stories, and it genuinely excites us

00:00:49

Speaker 1: to see all your various names too. So thank you

00:00:52

Speaker 1: from everyone here at Sleepaheq. Now come with me from

00:00:57

Speaker 1: sleep Hq into the tall tree of a sleepy forest.

00:01:02

Speaker 1: Can you hear all the animals and birds? And can

00:01:05

Speaker 1: you see the big gap in the trees cutting through

00:01:09

Speaker 1: the middle of the abundant woodland, snakes, the slim, silvery

00:01:14

Speaker 1: mirror of a river otherwise known as Sleepy River, And

00:01:19

Speaker 1: on it are two little ducks who are sisters. Have

00:01:23

Speaker 1: you ever heard someone say, oh, look at all that rain? Well,

00:01:29

Speaker 1: this lovely weather for ducks. Hopefully this story will go

00:01:33

Speaker 1: some way to explain that funny saying, as we are

00:01:36

Speaker 1: joining our ducks on a very very very rainy day,

00:01:41

Speaker 1: with their oiled feathers and other features suited to a

00:01:44

Speaker 1: semi aquatic life, it's fair to say that ducks excel

00:01:47

Speaker 1: in water of all types, whether they are in it,

00:01:51

Speaker 1: on it, or under it. Water is where they're meant

00:01:55

Speaker 1: to be, and I reckon it probably makes them very happy.

00:02:00

Speaker 1: So let's close our eyes and think about these two

00:02:04

Speaker 1: little ducks paddling around merrily on the silvery surface of

00:02:09

Speaker 1: the river. Perhaps point in flex your toes as you

00:02:13

Speaker 1: lie in bed, one foot at a time, like the

00:02:15

Speaker 1: alternating paddling feet of a duck, and wind your wrists

00:02:19

Speaker 1: around in gentle circles like ripples on the water, first

00:02:25

Speaker 1: one way and then the other. Now, try breathing in

00:02:30

Speaker 1: gently through your nose and softly out again. Breathe in

00:02:38

Speaker 1: and hold a little while, and then let it go

00:02:43

Speaker 1: all ever so softly and gently until you're ready to

00:02:47

Speaker 1: let every part of your body rest and become still great.

00:02:54

Speaker 1: Now it's time to meet our little ducky duo. This

00:02:59

Speaker 1: is the Lazy Ducks Rainy Day by Luke Prendergast On

00:03:10

Speaker 1: a gentle bend of sleepy river which meanders its way

00:03:14

Speaker 1: slowly through sleepy forest, lived two young ducks. They had

00:03:19

Speaker 1: bright white feathers, golden beaks, and little yellow webbed feet.

00:03:24

Speaker 1: They were sisters, and their names were Bread and Butter.

00:03:29

Speaker 1: Bread and Butter lived in a nest made out of

00:03:31

Speaker 1: twigs and leaves, snuggled right down among the dense reeds

00:03:36

Speaker 1: that grew on the banks of the river. Anyone who

00:03:39

Speaker 1: happened to be walking along the riverside would no doubt

00:03:43

Speaker 1: spot Bread and Butter sailing up and down on the river,

00:03:47

Speaker 1: kicking their yellow webbed feet and quacking merrily at each

00:03:51

Speaker 1: other as they went. One early morning, Bread, who was

00:03:57

Speaker 1: the older of the two sisters, but only by a

00:04:00

Speaker 1: couple of minutes, was just waking up. There was a cool,

00:04:04

Speaker 1: silvery light breaking in through the roof twigs of their nest,

00:04:08

Speaker 1: and her sister, Butter, was still rousing herself out of

00:04:12

Speaker 1: sleep beside her. Bread stretched her wings wide, poked her

00:04:18

Speaker 1: head out at the top of her nest, and was

00:04:21

Speaker 1: delighted by what she saw. It was raining. Little droplets

00:04:27

Speaker 1: of rain fell from the sky, making their plipliplot sound

00:04:32

Speaker 1: on the river water, like the tinkling notes of a xylophone.

00:04:37

Speaker 1: Water could be heard dripping from the leaves of the

00:04:40

Speaker 1: trees and pattering down like tiny little footsteps on the

00:04:44

Speaker 1: malty ground. Butter, Wake up, Bread quacked for joy, Wake up,

00:04:51

Speaker 1: Wake up. Butter, who often found that her sister didn't

00:04:56

Speaker 1: want to get moving in the morning, gave a big yawn.

00:05:00

Speaker 1: Oh what is it? She said, But Bread wouldn't tell her.

00:05:07

Speaker 1: Just come and see, she quacked quickly. Butter rubbed the

00:05:12

Speaker 1: sleep from her eyes, pulled herself up and poked her

00:05:15

Speaker 1: head out of the nest like her sister did. Oh, Bread,

00:05:20

Speaker 1: she cracked, What a day? Why didn't you tell me

00:05:25

Speaker 1: it's a rainy day? For the truth was, there was

00:05:31

Speaker 1: nothing that Bread and Butter enjoyed more than a lazy,

00:05:34

Speaker 1: rainy day on sleepy river. While some creatures might not

00:05:39

Speaker 1: like the rain because it got their feet wet or

00:05:42

Speaker 1: their fur damp or splashed in their eyes, that was

00:05:46

Speaker 1: not the case for these two sisters, with their waxy

00:05:50

Speaker 1: feathers and flippery feet. Ducks were in their element in

00:05:54

Speaker 1: the rain. They didn't say water off a duck's back

00:05:58

Speaker 1: for nothing. After all, as they ate their breakfast of

00:06:03

Speaker 1: toast and seeds and pulled on their bright yellow bucket hats.

00:06:08

Speaker 1: Bread and Butter chatted about how they would spend their

00:06:10

Speaker 1: rainy day. They agreed that they would spend a lot

00:06:14

Speaker 1: of time floating up and down the river enjoying the rain.

00:06:18

Speaker 1: And we could make a big splash and have a

00:06:22

Speaker 1: water fight, suggested Bread, who was the more energetic of

00:06:26

Speaker 1: the two sisters. Oh, I'm not sure about that, replied Butter,

00:06:32

Speaker 1: who didn't really like to over exert herself very much

00:06:36

Speaker 1: at all. I'd really like a lazy day. We can

00:06:41

Speaker 1: find a nice quiet corner in the rushes and just

00:06:45

Speaker 1: sit there enjoying the drizzle. Bread picked up her bright

00:06:51

Speaker 1: green umbrella, the most fashionable item she owned. One of

00:06:55

Speaker 1: the reasons she loved rainy days was because she got

00:06:58

Speaker 1: to take it out with her. Well, she said, let's

00:07:03

Speaker 1: head out and see. So the two sisters waddled out

00:07:07

Speaker 1: of their nest and hopped from its twiggy edges on

00:07:11

Speaker 1: to the gently drifting currents of the river. Oh isn't

00:07:17

Speaker 1: this wonderful, Bread sighed as she felt the cool water

00:07:22

Speaker 1: running over her feathers. Just the best kind of day.

00:07:28

Speaker 1: Butter agreed. Bread and Butter floated down the river enjoying

00:07:35

Speaker 1: the sound of the falling rain, which they thought was

00:07:39

Speaker 1: like a forest orchestra coming to life. Soon enough, they

00:07:44

Speaker 1: reached an area where the river currents slowed down and

00:07:47

Speaker 1: collected into a wide pool. Look what I can do,

00:07:53

Speaker 1: Bred said to her sister, Are you watching? Are you sure?

00:07:58

Speaker 1: And when she was sure that by was watching, Bread

00:08:02

Speaker 1: took a big gulp of air and stuck her head underwater,

00:08:05

Speaker 1: so that she was upside down, half submerged, with her

00:08:09

Speaker 1: little yellow feet flapping this way and that in the air.

00:08:13

Speaker 1: Butter couldn't help but let out a big quacking laugh.

00:08:18

Speaker 1: Her sister looked so funny upside down in the water.

00:08:23

Speaker 1: When Bread turned the right way round again, she shook

00:08:26

Speaker 1: her head so little droplets of water were flung in

00:08:28

Speaker 1: an arc and told Butter that now it was her turn.

00:08:33

Speaker 1: Go on, she encouraged her, and make sure you flap

00:08:37

Speaker 1: your feet extra fast. Butter took a big mouthful of air,

00:08:43

Speaker 1: counted to three, and stuck her head under the water.

00:08:48

Speaker 1: Now it was Bread's turn to laugh, looking at Butter's

00:08:52

Speaker 1: feet waving about in the air like that. And when

00:08:56

Speaker 1: Butter came back the right way round, the two sisters

00:08:59

Speaker 1: laughed and quacked together because rainy days was so much fun. Then,

00:09:06

Speaker 1: to their great surprise, a sparkling orange and white coy

00:09:10

Speaker 1: carp stuck his head out of the water. Hello, my ducks,

00:09:16

Speaker 1: he said. Bread and Butter flapped their wings and greeting,

00:09:21

Speaker 1: oh hello, Kogy, they quited, recognizing their good friend. How

00:09:26

Speaker 1: are you on this rainy day? Very fine, very fine,

00:09:32

Speaker 1: said Kogi the coycarp. Can't be complaining, not with this

00:09:36

Speaker 1: glorious weather like this. Bread and Butter looked up at

00:09:40

Speaker 1: the sky. They couldn't agree more. Cogi the cooy car

00:09:46

Speaker 1: said that he had seen the two sisters ducking their

00:09:48

Speaker 1: heads under the water and had wondered if they were

00:09:51

Speaker 1: going for a dive. A dive, repeated bred curiously, What

00:09:57

Speaker 1: do you mean a dive, Coagy explained, was when you

00:10:02

Speaker 1: kicked down all the way beneath the water to see

00:10:05

Speaker 1: what was down below. There are some beautiful pebbles on

00:10:10

Speaker 1: the river bed, he said, I can show you if

00:10:15

Speaker 1: you like. As far as Butter was concerned, diving sounded

00:10:20

Speaker 1: like quite a strenuous, energetic activity for what was supposed

00:10:25

Speaker 1: to be a very lazy, rainy day. But her sister's

00:10:29

Speaker 1: face was lit up with such bright joy at the

00:10:32

Speaker 1: prospect that she said, hukaykgy show us so kogy. The

00:10:39

Speaker 1: Koi carp showed the sisters that if they duck their

00:10:43

Speaker 1: head under the water like they had before, and then kicked, kicked,

00:10:47

Speaker 1: kicked with their yellow webbed feet, then they'd be able

00:10:51

Speaker 1: to swim down to the river bed. Let's give it

00:10:54

Speaker 1: a go, he said. The sisters, this time in unison,

00:11:00

Speaker 1: took a big gulp of air, ducked their heads under

00:11:04

Speaker 1: the surface of the water, and kicked. What fun it was,

00:11:09

Speaker 1: Bred thought, as she propelled herself through the water, feeling

00:11:13

Speaker 1: its cool touch slipping over her feathers. Even Butter thought

00:11:18

Speaker 1: to herself as she swam down that diving was fairly exciting,

00:11:24

Speaker 1: even if it was a little like hard work. Cogy

00:11:28

Speaker 1: showed them all the way down to the river bed

00:11:32

Speaker 1: and pointed out plenty of pretty little stones, glittering black onycks,

00:11:37

Speaker 1: pink quarts, little white ones that looked like tiny eggs.

00:11:44

Speaker 1: Butter found a turquoise stone and a bright blue one

00:11:47

Speaker 1: that looked like a little piece of fallen sky, and

00:11:50

Speaker 1: she picked them up with her beak and slid them

00:11:53

Speaker 1: under her yellow bucket hat to keep them safe. They'd

00:11:57

Speaker 1: looked very nice as decorations for the she thought back

00:12:03

Speaker 1: at the surface. Bread and Butter thanked their friend Kogi

00:12:07

Speaker 1: the koy kart for showing them what fun diving in

00:12:10

Speaker 1: the rain. Was no problem, my ducks, said Cogi, before

00:12:16

Speaker 1: with a swish of his long silvery tail, he swam away.

00:12:21

Speaker 1: Bread and Butter continued on down the sleepy river. Bread

00:12:26

Speaker 1: thanked Butter for going diving with her, and Butter told

00:12:29

Speaker 1: her it was no problem at all. What would you

00:12:33

Speaker 1: like to do now on this lazy, rainy day, Bread

00:12:37

Speaker 1: asked her sister. Butter twitched her beak thoughtfully considering her auctions.

00:12:46

Speaker 1: I think God'd like to go and perch in a tree,

00:12:51

Speaker 1: she said, and watch the rain falling into the river

00:12:56

Speaker 1: from above. Bread thought that sounded like a lovely plan,

00:13:02

Speaker 1: but she hoped that they wouldn't be doing it for

00:13:04

Speaker 1: too long, or else she might get bored. But she

00:13:08

Speaker 1: said to Butter, what a wonderful idea, And with a

00:13:12

Speaker 1: flap of their wings, the two ducks rose from the

00:13:16

Speaker 1: river and flew up through the falling rain until they

00:13:20

Speaker 1: came to rest on the branch of a big sycamore tree.

00:13:26

Speaker 1: They gave their feathers a flap to dispel the water.

00:13:29

Speaker 1: But just as they were folding them up on their backs,

00:13:32

Speaker 1: they had a long, slow voice. Oh hollo, it said,

00:13:42

Speaker 1: welcome to my tree. The sisters looked up along the

00:13:49

Speaker 1: branch and caught sight of their new companion. It was Fudge,

00:13:54

Speaker 1: the sloth, and the reason they hadn't spotted her before

00:13:58

Speaker 1: was because she wasn't sitting on the tree branch. She

00:14:02

Speaker 1: was hanging below it. Oh hello there, Bred said, I

00:14:08

Speaker 1: hope we haven't disturbed you. We were only coming up here.

00:14:13

Speaker 1: Butter explained to sit quietly and contemplate the rain. Not

00:14:20

Speaker 1: tt all, Fudge replied at length, I always welcome company.

00:14:30

Speaker 1: Bred was cocking her head at the sloth. Curiously. She

00:14:34

Speaker 1: wondered why she was always sounding like she was forgetting

00:14:38

Speaker 1: what she was saying halfway through saying it. Why are

00:14:42

Speaker 1: you hanging upside down? She asked, Oh, Fudge replied, because

00:14:52

Speaker 1: I find that it's much more comfortable when you enjoy

00:15:00

Speaker 1: dozing like me, to be off your feet rather than

00:15:09

Speaker 1: on them. Butter, who also enjoyed dozing, had her interest piqued.

00:15:17

Speaker 1: Is that so, she asked? Why? Yes, said the sloth,

00:15:25

Speaker 1: If you don't believe me, you should try it, Okay,

00:15:35

Speaker 1: then cracked Butter, I will and so Butter gripped the

00:15:40

Speaker 1: branch tightly with her yellow webbed feet, and, taking courage,

00:15:46

Speaker 1: swung around on the branch until she was hanging upside down,

00:15:57

Speaker 1: yawned the sloth. What do you think? Butter had to

00:16:05

Speaker 1: admit that, in fact, it was very comfortable indeed, and

00:16:11

Speaker 1: the world looked rather wondrous upside down, the river up

00:16:16

Speaker 1: above her where the sky was supposed to be, and

00:16:19

Speaker 1: the blue gray sky spread out below her as though

00:16:24

Speaker 1: it were the ground. Best yet, the rain now seemed

00:16:29

Speaker 1: to fall upwards, shooting up from the sky below and

00:16:33

Speaker 1: landing in the river up above. How marvelous you have

00:16:41

Speaker 1: to try this, Butter told Bread, And so Bread grasped

00:16:46

Speaker 1: her feet around the sycamore branch and spun around to

00:16:50

Speaker 1: meet her sister. What do you think, Bread, Butter asked, Well,

00:16:58

Speaker 1: said Butter, I have to say, it's more fun than

00:17:02

Speaker 1: I was expecting it to be. The two sisters stayed

00:17:07

Speaker 1: hanging very peacefully off their branch, taking in slow, long

00:17:13

Speaker 1: drawn out words with the sloth, and enjoying watching the

00:17:17

Speaker 1: world go by upside down. But soon all the blood

00:17:23

Speaker 1: went to their heads, and they began to feel a

00:17:26

Speaker 1: little bit dizzy. Time to carry on with our lazy,

00:17:30

Speaker 1: rainy day, don't you think, bread Butter asked her sister.

00:17:35

Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more, Bread replied. Both ducks swiveled round

00:17:42

Speaker 1: on their branches and thanking the sloth ever so much

00:17:45

Speaker 1: for showing them just what a topsy turvy world looked like.

00:17:49

Speaker 1: They took off from the sycamore branch and sailed gently

00:17:53

Speaker 1: through the falling rain, landing in two little splashes on

00:17:58

Speaker 1: sleepy river. The day was getting on. Although the sun

00:18:04

Speaker 1: was hidden behind the big mushroom like rain clouds, Bread

00:18:08

Speaker 1: and Butter could tell by the color of the light

00:18:11

Speaker 1: that it was the afternoon. They had been having a

00:18:15

Speaker 1: very lazy day. Indeed, soon they came to the part

00:18:19

Speaker 1: of the river where a beaver named Buck had recently

00:18:23

Speaker 1: built a dam. It was a very beautiful part of

00:18:27

Speaker 1: sleepy forest, with river banks covered in brightly colored flowers

00:18:31

Speaker 1: and a nightingale, who, when it wasn't raining, sang a

00:18:35

Speaker 1: sweet and melodious song that carried softly through the trees.

00:18:42

Speaker 1: This afternoon, Buck was relaxing on the verandah at the

00:18:46

Speaker 1: front of his dam. He was wearing a red and

00:18:49

Speaker 1: black plaid cap with big ear flaps. When he saw

00:18:54

Speaker 1: Bread and Butter come sailing around the river bend, he

00:18:58

Speaker 1: got up and leant over the back. How do they have,

00:19:02

Speaker 1: bread and butter? He called out, for they were old

00:19:05

Speaker 1: friends taking a trip down the river on this fine

00:19:09

Speaker 1: and rainy day? Are we? Bread and Butter flapped their

00:19:13

Speaker 1: wings and said yes, indeed they were. How about you

00:19:18

Speaker 1: both come up here and have a relax on my verandah.

00:19:22

Speaker 1: I can put the getlong. We can have a cup

00:19:25

Speaker 1: of tea and a little something to eat. Oh yes, please,

00:19:31

Speaker 1: said Bread. I am feeling rather peckish, said Butter, and

00:19:36

Speaker 1: all three of them laughed at her joke. Bread and

00:19:40

Speaker 1: Butter flapped their wings and rose into the air, alighting

00:19:44

Speaker 1: on the verandah of bucks dam. It was a very

00:19:48

Speaker 1: impressive dim, indeed, with intricate carvings and decorations. Buck had

00:19:54

Speaker 1: built it all himself with his hammers and nails and

00:19:58

Speaker 1: his sharp front. Now Buck said, while the two ducks

00:20:04

Speaker 1: got settled, why shall I make you for lunch? How

00:20:09

Speaker 1: does some toast down? There's nothing I like more than

00:20:16

Speaker 1: a slice of toast, Bread told him, as long as

00:20:21

Speaker 1: there's plenty of butter. Her sister added. Bread and butter

00:20:27

Speaker 1: sank into the bean bags that Buck had lying out

00:20:30

Speaker 1: on his verandah. There they sat watching the peaceful dripping

00:20:36

Speaker 1: of the drizzle, while inside they could hear the sound

00:20:40

Speaker 1: of a kettle boiling and a crunch of toast as

00:20:43

Speaker 1: it was cut with a knife. Soon enough, Buck came

00:20:48

Speaker 1: back out, balancing a tray on his paws. He handed

00:20:52

Speaker 1: the sisters a cup each and poured hot, steaming tea

00:20:57

Speaker 1: from a perfect porcelain teapot into them. The teapot had

00:21:02

Speaker 1: a tea cozy on it that made it look like

00:21:05

Speaker 1: a duck, and the sisters quacked with laughter. Hellok, Butter,

00:21:10

Speaker 1: said Bread, it's you. Oh no, Bread, said Butter. I

00:21:17

Speaker 1: think it looks much more like you. Then Buck handed

00:21:22

Speaker 1: them a plate of richly buttered toast and an extra

00:21:25

Speaker 1: little jug with an unfamiliar liquid in it. Bread sniffed

00:21:30

Speaker 1: the jug. It smelled sweet. What's this, she asked that.

00:21:38

Speaker 1: Buck replied, here's maple syrup. I made it myself from

00:21:44

Speaker 1: the sap I collected from the maple tree right here

00:21:48

Speaker 1: in sleepy forest. Have a taste. It's a real tree. Ah,

00:21:56

Speaker 1: there's really no way I prefer to spend a lazy day,

00:22:00

Speaker 1: Buck said, kicking back and taking a slurpy sip of

00:22:04

Speaker 1: his tea, then having a warm cup of tea, herbaut

00:22:09

Speaker 1: to eat, and some general conversation with some good friends,

00:22:14

Speaker 1: don't you think, Bread and Butter said? They agreed wholeheartedly.

00:22:20

Speaker 1: They told Buck about their day, about how they'd gone

00:22:23

Speaker 1: diving with Kogy the koy carp, even though that was

00:22:27

Speaker 1: a little more energetic than Butter like to be on

00:22:29

Speaker 1: a rainy day, And then how they'd hung upside down

00:22:33

Speaker 1: in the sycamore tree with Fudge the sloth, even though

00:22:37

Speaker 1: Bread was worried she might get a little bored. They agreed, however,

00:22:42

Speaker 1: that sitting there with Buck on his verandah, watching the

00:22:46

Speaker 1: rain fall slantingly and the river trickle past them beneath

00:22:50

Speaker 1: them was the best of both worlds. Who wasn't too

00:22:55

Speaker 1: demanding for Butter, but it was interesting enough to keep

00:22:59

Speaker 1: Bread from nodding off accidentally. It was, in a word,

00:23:05

Speaker 1: just perfect. They chatted merrily and watched the rain. They

00:23:11

Speaker 1: finished their tea and their buttered toast with maple syrup.

00:23:16

Speaker 1: Buck even went back inside to get a box of

00:23:19

Speaker 1: short bread biscuits, which they nibbled over together. Thank you, Buck,

00:23:25

Speaker 1: Bread said, you've been ever so generous and kind. I

00:23:31

Speaker 1: wish we had something to give you in return. And

00:23:36

Speaker 1: just as Bread was saying this, Butter had an idea.

00:23:41

Speaker 1: We do have something to give you. She said, and

00:23:46

Speaker 1: she took her yellow bucket hat off her head and

00:23:49

Speaker 1: tipped it upside down. From within tumbled the two beautiful

00:23:56

Speaker 1: pebbles she gathered from the river bed, one of the

00:24:00

Speaker 1: deepest turquoise, the other such a bright blue. It looked

00:24:05

Speaker 1: like a little piece of the sky. These are for you.

00:24:10

Speaker 1: Butter said to Buck, handing him the pebbles, There'll be

00:24:14

Speaker 1: a pretty decoration for your damn. Buck took the pebbles

00:24:20

Speaker 1: in his paw, thanking the sisters over and over again.

00:24:25

Speaker 1: He was very touched by their gift. I know just

00:24:30

Speaker 1: where they'll go, he told them. There'll look be beautiful

00:24:35

Speaker 1: on my window sill. Now, he added, who like another

00:24:40

Speaker 1: cup of tea? And so Bread and Butter sat on

00:24:44

Speaker 1: Buck's verandah while he made another cup of tea. And

00:24:48

Speaker 1: when he came out, they talked about all kinds of things.

00:24:53

Speaker 1: They watched the clouds shift and change in the sky,

00:24:57

Speaker 1: turning deep purple as they filled up with rain, then

00:25:02

Speaker 1: bleaching a light move as they emptied their droplets all

00:25:06

Speaker 1: over the forest. They watched the sun sinking behind the clouds,

00:25:12

Speaker 1: turning the sky first a pale gray, then a dark indigo,

00:25:18

Speaker 1: and finally black. Finally, Bread turned to her sister and said,

00:25:26

Speaker 1: come on, Butter, he's our bedtime now. Oh you're right,

00:25:33

Speaker 1: said Butter, yawning, it really is. They thanked Buck again

00:25:39

Speaker 1: for his generous hospitality, and then they swam back up

00:25:43

Speaker 1: the sleepy river to where their snug home was nestled

00:25:48

Speaker 1: among the reeds. They took off their bucket hats and

00:25:53

Speaker 1: shook their wings dry. They brushed their beaks and poured

00:25:59

Speaker 1: on some warm socks to sleep in. As they were

00:26:04

Speaker 1: nuzzling down into bed, Butter said to her sister, that

00:26:11

Speaker 1: was the best rainy day we've ever had, don't you think? Ah? Yes,

00:26:19

Speaker 1: said Bread, the best lazy rainy day ever. They were

00:26:26

Speaker 1: both yawning. Now for a lazy day, it had still

00:26:30

Speaker 1: been a pretty tiring one. The night, Bread said Butter.

00:26:37

Speaker 1: The night Butter said Bread. And then the two ducks,

00:26:43

Speaker 1: sisters and best friends, closed their eyes and began to

00:26:49

Speaker 1: drift off, and little did they know it, but their

00:26:54

Speaker 1: final thoughts before sleep took them were the same. What

00:27:00

Speaker 1: they wondered as they fell asleep, would the weather be

00:27:04

Speaker 1: like tomorrow
